Vladislav stared at the girl he was with and hoped that he wasn't the next one to be weakened. He fidgeted with the wand in his hand and kept rolling it between his fingers trying to figure out a strategy but was stuck. Oh god, what could he could. He really did not want to be eliminated. His school and him deserved better.

Her bones hurt, her head had spinning. She had fallen down, what an idiocy of her to try and cast from the ground. Oh she was so tired, but she had to go on. She was hyperfixiated on the idea of victory. Though she was barely conscious, she stood up. Barely even trusting her senses, she dodged the Durmstrang boy’s Flipendo and tried to key her awareness. A sigh, and she began running all good combinations through her mind again.

Her charm went so far wide of the Koldovstoretz boy that she almost let an expletive loose. Even worse, he was able to strike her again with a Knockback Jinx. She winced as the spell smacked against her, and was so focused on chastising herself for being hit with the same spell twice in a row that she hadn't even realized she wasn't the original target of the spell.

And just like that, the advantage the interschool team had for a brief moment was lost. Koldovstoretz was still looking rough, but now the tables had turned. If the bogies' curse stopped lingering like the nuisance it was, maybe Durmstrang and Tenūsa could've kept it up. But, well, you can't blame fighters even when they're close to collapsing.

The moderator grimaced once the dust cleared. "Yeesh! Look at all that damage. Looks like Durmstrang's lost their focus, again, and Koldovstoretz are still fighting!"

(When you consider how children—somehow willingly—put themselves on these pistes, you start to wonder where society went wrong. This was not an exaggeration. Because what do you mean they actually do this willingly? The Third years and up, sure, but even Third year was pushing it. How could anyone explain the fact that literal eleven and twelve-year-olds fight to the near-death like this?)

Only one spell made it around the piste, aimed only at two people. Irina was lucky to dodge, even with her condition. Moray, on the other hand, did not have that luxury. They were the recipient of two hard-hitting Knockback Jinxes. While it had not been enough to knock them onto the ground, it was enough to even out the game just a little bit more.

What was wrong with him? Nikolai's focus was non existent as he let more rounds go past without any assistance to his team. Was the shame of contributing to the sport really that powerful or was his magic malfunctioning a sign of his time spent this year failing to perform magic. Whatever it was he had to get his head in the game, Moray was relying on him and now she looked more damaged than ever. Not being hit himself this round gave him the clarity to breathe once more and knowing that he would have to bed that luck still favoured them, he raised his wand with determination. Durmstrang were dragons, resilient and powerful, he was once a dragon himself and could be once more, he just had to prove it to himself.

Vladislav murmered. The good thing was his wonderful teammate was still alive, the bad thing was.. they still haven't eliminated their dang opponents. He spoke towards Moray and Nikolai with his strong, southern accent, not matching a russian accent that one'd think of for a Koldov student, no, American. "Come on! Please! Let us win! We've been going at this for years!"

Silence. A terrifying moment as she cast. And her spell, despite her sick, wobbly hand and her difficulty making it powerful, hit true. She might have collapsed any minute, but no. She hung on strong, pride locked away in a faraway cage beginning to flicker with the tatters of hope. Could they even win? Difficult. But one was distracted and the other was weak. They were almost on equal standings as teams. But who knew if Lady Luck would be on their side? Not that Irina believed in such tactics or oddities.

Despite the scant participation of the Durmstrang guy, Moray felt like she was still hanging onto the ropes. Spells came her way and threatened to knock her off, yet she still held on tight by herself. But taking two Knockback Jinxes to her body hurt like hell and it felt like she was only hanging on by her pinky finger at this point. Still, she wasn't as badly off as the Koldovstoretz girl, but that wouldn't matter if Irina continued to stay standing.

No one died yet, to everybody's surprise. Was that a good thing? Perhaps. On one hand, it was great for the duellists; they still had a chance to tip the scales in their favour and win the game. On the other hand, this was dragging on far longer than anyone could pay attention to in this day and age. Though, that was probably an issue with people's attention spans and not the actual players themselves.

The sniffling died down, too, which only meant—

"Look at that! Zvereva's persisted and beaten the Bogies' Curse! And since Volkov's spell missed, she's still standing." The moderator raised their hands and began clapping. "I think that deserves an applause."

The lightning, which had been hovering over the Koldovstoretz team menacingly since the beginning, still had not made a hit. A bit boring, but well, what could you do?

The Tenūsa player had chosen to actively dodge this round, which meant both of the Koldovstoretz team's spells missed, one more so than the other. The Koldovstoretz girl, so focused on getting over the curse, probably hadn't focused enough to aim their spell. Instead, her spell redirected to her ally. Thankfully, he dodged fast enough to not get hit, but it would've made the round more interesting if it did.

Her dodge was there but her aim was not. At least Vladislav has his dodge there. She was tired, the Mucus ad Nauseam took a heavy toll on her. She usually needed less time to overcome it. The applause was ignored besides a small dip of her head. The only thing she cared about was victory, applause was unnecessary. But the worst was that they had become predictable; Moray dodged far better this time. She needed to recover, she thought.
