We light it up, we won't come down...
Naturally, Aly had shown up to the booths exposition day with her arms full of various decorating supplies and a bright, cheery disposition on her freckled face. When @Dealla Prince needed help or at least people to participate, her Ravenclaw best mate and dorm bunkie would always be first in line to assist. Fortunately, by the time Aly arrived and was ready to set up a booth, it seemed that there were already plenty of people creating their own; her green gaze scanned over arts and flowers and water tanks with an amused eye, and she made mental notes as to which ones to visit when her own booth was experiencing dry spells. In the meantime, she had an experience to create herself.

Two empty booth spaces next to each other caught her attention, and Aly hustled to the first one, waving her Brazilian shadow (@Manu Macedo) over to the other one. The two curly-haired girls had come up with booth ideas this morning over breakfast - admittedly not very well planned out booths, but booths nevertheless - and wanted to be near each other to help out, just in case. Despite having similar hair care routines, the girls couldn’t have been more different in their interests, but did have something in common: their passion for their respective sports. Manu was a duellist, so she would be doing something with that, but Aly had armed herself with her trusty Oakshaft and a spare Golden Snitch, as well as a case of Butterbeer she’d brought in her luggage to share with her tentmates. Oh, well - they won’t miss it if they never knew it was there!

In the first empty booth, Aly set up the Butterbeer bottles lining the back, then put the sign she and Manu had created right up front. It clearly advertised her booth’s experience, for it was not a product she necessarily offered, but pure fun. They had spent a fair amount of time painting the swirly letters in the centre and small winged golden balls around the border, though Aly could easily tell which she had done versus Manu - it was perhaps obvious that the Brazilian girl lacked in some sort of artistic talent.

Butterflights!, the sign read, in brilliant cerulean ink. Come live out your high-flying dreams, catch a Golden Snitch, and reward yourself with some delicious Butterbeer!

In short, Aly was willing to take anyone up into the opulent blue sky on her beloved Oakshaft. Whilst up there, they would get a lovely view of the Quidditch Stadium and all the booths dotted down below, plus an opportunity to catch Aly’s own Snitch, which she let out into the air now and waved goodbye to with a flutter of her fingers. She kept an eye on it out of the corner of her gaze so she wouldn’t lose it, then turned to greet her first customer, if she had any. Whether her riders caught the Snitch or not would be up to them - she would do all the steering, but the hard part was theirs to accomplish. Still, she thought she might get some takers from first-years who hadn’t been up high in the sky before.

Taking a sip from her own bottle of Butterbeer, adjusting her telltale Ravenclaw Quidditch uniform that she had worn literally only to potentially get some people excited about taking to the skies with the eagle captain and Seeker, Aly plastered a cheerful smile onto her face and called out, “Butterflights! Come get your Butterbeer and high-flying adventures here!”
And the walls can't stop us now!

Here's how it works:
  1. Make a post coming to Aly's booth. You are welcome to lightly godmod her welcoming you and taking you up on a lap around the Quidditch Stadium on her broomstick, as well as saying she offered you a Butterbeer after landing.
  2. If you are interested in trying to catch the Snitch Aly has set loose, make sure you A) say so in your post and B) include your raw ACC stat in the post; I will add +4 to it from Aly's broomstick and roll to see if you catch the Snitch (DC for everyone will be 25, which is 15 + a pretty median 10). (No need for WIS -- Aly has already spotted the Snitch and will bring you to it!)
  3. I will post responding as Aly and include your roll in my post to see if you were successful! If so, your character can now boast that you caught a Snitch on the Ravenclaw Seeker's broom, and there may be a little something in it for you if you succeed! Even if you are unsuccessful, you still got an Oakshaft ride from a Quidditch captain :)

While Dee usually made a point of apparating outside a booth, in a safe enough distance to give no one a heart attack, her best friend was afforded no such courtesy. Rather, she appeared right behind @Aly Salinger with a sharp crack, and leaned forward to put her chin on her best mate's shoulder, careful not to smudge the blue and bronze dragon scale makeup framing her face - evidence she'd stopped by other booths before this. "Hello, beautiful," she chirped cheerfully, "you didn't tell me you were planning to host a booth! I could have helped you set up." Although, admittedly, if Dee had been too busy supervising everyone else to even notice her best friend's presence, she likely wouldn't have had that much time to support Aly.

Not that Aly hadn't done a great job of that herself. Stepping away, Dee surveyed the booth, trying to figure out what exactly was being offered. Despite the very Aly-esque decoration, there weren't really any goods or flowers or services she could see beyond the bottles of butterbeers... until she'd stepped outside of the booth to read the sign and spotted her friend's beloved broom, displayed in a prominent position. Dee's eyebrows rose. "You're letting people borrow your broom?" she asked, caught somewhere between skepticism and disbelief, and hopped up to sit on an empty space next to the butterbeer bottles. "I'd cut off their fingers before I'd let some random second year touch my Starsweeper with their grubby paws." Exceptions were made for her closest friends, but those were few and carefully selected. Maybe Aly, being a Quidditch captain, was more used to lending out her broom?

But the surprise smoothed over slightly when Aly explained the true intent - she was offering a passenger ride, with an attempt at grabbing a Snitch and feeling like a seeker for a moment, rather than full control of her precious Oakshaft. "Oh, that makes more sense," Dee nodded, her eyes lighting up with the thrill of the challenge that Aly would recognise all too well. "Well then..." She set down the flower crown she'd acquired from a different booth, hopped back off the table and bounced over to the waiting broomstick. "You have your first customer. Let's go catch that Snitch, eh?"

Riding a broom with two people wasn't something Dee was used to - in racing, you usually held on to your own broom or you braced for impact, because no one had time to spare for trying to catch you. She got the hang of it quickly, though, holding on mostly with her legs and only shifting her weight slightly to lean into curves without throwing off their balance. The London Quidditch Stadium from above was not a new sight, but Dee still enjoyed the wind whipping her hair back, then squinted against the light into the sky, looking for that tell-tale glint of gold. Catching that little golden ball couldn't be that hard, right?

A loud crack directly behind her sent Aly jumping what she could have sworn was sixteen feet in the air, but really was only a few inches; still, it felt as if she'd leapt out of her skin with fright. She whirled on her would-be attacker, wand drawn in her hand, only to find the grinning, familiar face of her best mate behind her. Aly's beating heart slowed only slightly as she heaved a heavy sigh of relief - of course it would be Dee, who with her recent learning of Apparition had taken to using it as much as humanly possible and, naturally, in the worst possible situations. (Aly would not be attending the class, that much was for sure - she'd heard enough about the vomit-inducing, stomach-churning, brain-scrambling trip from Dee to never want to try her hand at Apparating, ever.) Still, even as she tucked her wand away, her other hand darted out in an instinctive, if friendly, jab, and she managed to succeed in landing a solid-ish punch rolls in Reducio below post on her notoriously slippery pseudo-sister's upper arm. "Hey! I thought I asked you to stop doing that," she complained, still feeling her pulse broom-racing through her wrists and neck. "One of these days you're going to need to cast a Reviving Spell on me if you keep surprise-Apparating close to me, because I'm going to pass out from fright." Still, she winced at her own reaction. "You all right? Sorry, I didn't mean to hit you like that!"

A yet ever-cheerful Dee made herself immediately at home, retroactively offering to help set up and at first assuming that Aly was lending her broom out to unsupervised first years. As if I'd ever. With a slightly derisive giggle, she shook her curly head. "Absolutely not. Never in a million years," she said in response to Dee's question. "I'd be too afraid one someone from Mahoutokouro might try to sabotage it so I can't play in the unofficial match tomorrow - or worse, one of those sneaky snake firsties. I wouldn't put past them the idea of hexing my broom so Ravenclaw loses in the fall match." Aly shrugged. "Best I go up with them. Plus, that way I can keep an eye on the Snitch - all anyone has to do is catch."

At Dee's behest, Aly snagged the beloved Oakshaft and swung a leg over it, allowing Dee to clamber on behind her. "You, however, are no ordinary firstie," she assured her best mate, turning over her shoulder to give her a suspicious side-eye. "But seriously, hex my broom and I'll throw you off it. Anyway!" With an overly cheerful tone, Aly pushed off into the sky, feeling Dee slide slightly behind her; she threw one arm back to catch her dormmate and tentmate. The last thing she wanted right now was a trip to the hospital tent and yet another thing the Prince girl could tease her about in the coming years! Once she was sure that Dee was more comfortable riding tandem, Aly returned both hands to her broom and focused in on flying close to the golden ball fluttering in the edge of her vision. Keeping an eye on it had been useful indeed. They zipped through the air together, almost understanding each other's movements before they even flinched - such was the privilege of having been besties since their third year. When they drew close to the Snitch, Aly slowed slightly for a moment, taking one hand off of her broom to point to it. "There she is, in all her beauty," she declared, making sure Dee caught sight of it. "All right, ready? We're just going to do one fly-by - this is your only chance to grab it!"

When Dee was ready, Aly put her heels to her Oakshaft and zipped by the Snitch; she heard the tell-tale buzzing of flickering wings stop, and grinded to a halt so she could look backwards at her best mate, who had successfully wrapped a hand around the Snitch. Yay! Rolls in the Reducio below The curly-haired Ravenclaw headed back towards her tent beneath her; what an excellent job Dee had done.

When they had landed, Aly dismounted and turned to her best mate with a grin. "If I didn't know any better, I'd think you're coming for my Seeker job," she joked. "Well done, mate! Here, let me have that..." She reached for Dee's hand, relieving her of Aly's Snitch. "As a congratulations, help yourself to a mug of Butterbeer before you go. Oh, and I have something for you..." She dove beneath her table, rummaging through one of the spare boxes she'd brought with her, only to pull out yet another Golden Snitch that was nearly identical to the one she'd caught - except, if people looked closely, without the telltale A.S. carved into the first's golden body. Aly released the first Snitch back into the air, keeping an eye on it still, then turned to hand the second one to Dee. "A little prize for you, for catching the Snitch! Hey, go tell everyone else to come to Butterflights, will you? I'm sure they'll want to if they hear from one of the organisers how fun this was..."

Ophelia had just made her way out of Kaitlyn's tent, and she was ready to find another booth to enter and explore. Having not created any sort of plan of how to tackle the booths that interested her, the Ravenclaw was already lost amid the sounds and sights of the expo. While she adored the fair theme and ideas of this year's summer camp, she had to admit, the constant excitement was not meant for her, as she got exhausted a bit too quickly.

Wandering around, Ophelia found a sign that called to her. Butterflights? The description of catching a snitch and enjoying butterbeer intrigued the Ravenclaw, and she decided to enter the booth. When she saw none other than her own Quidditch team captain and seeker, Aly, with her own beloved broom, Ophelia fought not to keep a look of surprise on her face. She herself wouldn't have offered up such a booth where she would have to be so close to people and allow them to touch her things, but perhaps some people didn't mind as much as she did.

Feeling a sense of duty to approach her captain and to not hurry out of the tent, Ophelia warily made her way closer to Aly, smiling. Those annoying anxious thoughts filled her brain as usual, the questions of whether the older year would want to see her, talk to her, and whatever other awful scenarios that her brain could make up for her. But she pushed forward, surely Aly had seen her by now and she couldn't make an escape.

"Hi! Could I get a ride?" She nodded to the broom, which looked quite well taken care of. "Let's see if I can catch that snitch." Ophelia grinned, hoping with all her heart that she wouldn't embarrass herself. She was the second-string seeker after all...

Dee headed off, replaced soon enough with another contender to Aly's snitch-catching extravaganza: Ophelia Northwell, her own second-string counterpart on the Ravenclaw Quidditch team. Despite having been an integral part of the team for the last several years, Ophelia had never seen an ounce of playing time during actual matches and had instead been relegated to the bench - by no fault of her own. Aly had to admit the newly minted third-year had serious Seeking talent - she was a hard worker, a perfectionist of sorts, with a gaze nearly as keen as Aly's if not perhaps a bit more. During practices, she had impressed quite a bit for a first- and then second-year. The issue was that Aly, four years older and much more experienced, was slippery and energetic, hard to hit and even harder to take down. So whereas the soon-to-be-seventh-year often stayed in the game until the very end, Ophelia was usually left on the bench.

If she stayed on the Ravenclaw team for another year, though, without leaving them for lack of playing time, Aly was certain Ophelia would make an excellent first-string Seeker starting in her fourth year once the elder girl graduated. There was always a need for a great Seeker on every team, and she always felt a bit of duty towards training her into becoming much better than Aly had ever been. That way, when the captain graduated, she'd leave behind a legacy that would hopefully continue for years to come.

Though Ophelia looked a bit surprised to see her, Aly greeted her with a cheerful wave. "Hello there, Ophelia! Fancy seeing you outside of rehearsal - though I suppose we are still in a Quidditch stadium, of sorts," she joked. When the younger girl greeted her back and asked if she could have a ride on the Oakshaft, Aly's smile only grew brighter. "Of course! Goodness, you can have two if you want - it's been so very slow thus far. Hey, we ought to think about getting you an Oakshaft for when you're older, now that I think about it..."

Coming out from behind the counter, she mounted her Oakshaft and motioned for Ophelia to climb on. Once both Ravenclaw Seekers were firmly secure atop the broom - that's a sight you don't see every day, two Seekers from the same team on the same broom - Aly pushed off, keeping her eye on the re-released Snitch. Her first drive-by was far too far for either of them to reach the Snitch, and Aly winced as Ophelia missed; she hadn't intended for the younger girl to do so. Of course I can't control it, but I can give her a second chance. She called over her shoulder, "My fault there, mate! Let's do it again, shall we? I promise I'll fly closer this time." And lo and behold, when she swooped by the glittering golden ball which was flittering nearest one of the gold hoops in the air this time, her second-string counterpart managed to snatch it out of the air. Aly whooped in delight - Ophelia truly would make a most talented replacement for her in a year. "That's the stuff! All right, hang on tight - going to take a diiiiiiiiiive!"

She pointed the nose of the broomstick straight down, and both girls would feel the wind in their hair as they zoomed towards the ground. In her well-practiced Wronski Feint-like move, Aly pulled up just in time for the tips of their toes to skim along the grass, dodging through the rows of tents and booths until they came to a skidding stop right in front of Butterflights. Laughing breathlessly, her hair a mess, Aly dismounted and helped Ophelia get off, too. "Flying like that never gets old," she panted with a grin. "Here, let me take that Snitch... help yourself to some Butterbeer and I'll get you a prize in the meantime!"

Just like before, the original Snitch was pulled from the competitor's hand and released into the air again. Aly kept an eye on it as she grabbed a second Snitch from her box underneath the table and pressed it into Ophelia's grip. "There - now you have something to practice with. That was an excellent catch! I'll see you at rehearsal that first week of school, alright?"
