The Rules and Mechanics

Thank you for Participating! I hope you will find this to be a fun experience!

1. There first sign up sheet will be posted on Tuesday, July 8th. It requires that both parties sign their names, meaning both agree to the interaction. The person who is putting out the bounty must list a grievance as to why they are placing the bounty. It will be read aloud (or assumed to be read aloud), verbatim in the public square of opinion at the time of the dunking.

2. This is a first come, first served booth. Please do not take a spot on the sign up sheet unless you already have a firm yes to participate in this with the second party. That means no placeholder TBAs or TBDs or coming soons should appear on the sign up form. I know it can take a few days for someone to get the form signed, but there will be 5 days between moderations, so bear that in mind if you want to sign up. Any slot with only one name will just be skipped over at the time I do rolls. That will not prevent you from eligibility to sign up at another time, but if the same thing happens 2x, that will be the last time you can sign up (unless the booth is not popular, in which case, knock yourself out). I simply want to make sure everyone who wants to play can play.

3. You may only place one bounty**. That may change later depending on how the traffic moves with this idea. You can be dunked any number of times, however, so long as you have agreed to participate. Please do not sign up to be dunked more than 1x per moderation cycle (a week). Again, trying to make sure everyone who wishes to gets to play.

4. Feel free to lightly godmod Stephen, but do not put words in his mouth or thoughts in his head beyond simple greetings and small talk. You can mention speaking to him when putting out the bounty, etc., but it should all be light and non-committal interactions. Also feel free to describe the interactions one might have with the Elphaba Enforcers if you wish, but bear in mind they are first years who know no magic – they have not stepped foot into a magic classroom yet. Their innocence and ignorance is part of the irony behind their effectiveness at bringing in even the most jaded, surly, and rude folk. Even though they are dNPCs, please be kind.

5. All posts must follow site guidelines and are expected to be a minimum of 200 words.

6. When this thread is tagged as OPEN on Monday, you will have 5 days to get your name(s) on the roster. At the end of that time, I will close the roster and I will take the next 2 days to do the rolls. Once your results are posted, you are free to post at your convenience. When results are posted, the roster will open back up again and the system repeats itself.

**7. There will be “volunteer” dunkees from week to week, but not necessarily every week. These volunteers will be Headmasters/Headmistresses and Professors from Hogwarts and many of the international schools. They have all agreed to sit for three (3) interactions. If you have dunked someone else, you may still sign up to try to dunk one adult volunteer, but not in the same week, please. Again, this is a first come and first served basis. I will try to vary the time on the 7th day when rosters open up so that as many people as possible get the opportunity to try and sign up.

The Mechanics: The Dunker (Acc rolls).

1. Neither participant is allowed to use magic at any point in the interactions.

2. Pay 5 prize tickets (IC for flavor) to place a bounty. State your grievance.

3. You will have 3 chances to hit the target on the side of the cage. It is set to be hard to move. Just hitting the target is not enough. You will need to hit it precisely in the middle to dunk your prisoner.

4. You will throw 3 snowballs, red, blue, and green, in that order. This will be important for rolls, so you may wish to note that in your post, but it is not necessary.

5. If you dunk your prisoner on the first throw, great for you and not so great for them. You still have two more chances to drop them into the drink.

6. If you drop them on the third throw, with a Critical Success roll, you get a free throw to try once more.

7. Abilities do not matter here. It is strictly an Accuracy (Acc) vs. Evasion (Ev) roll every time.

8. A 20 sided die will be used for rolls.

9. The Dunkee has (-5) Ev points at the get go. It is possible that the Dunker or Dunkee can have “0” Acc or Ev points at some point, but rolls will be made as they still get points from the 20 sided die.

The Snowballs – They are enchanted.

1. The colors only come into play only with Critical Success rolls [20], or Critical Failure rolls [1].

2. Red – Dunker loses (-5) Acc if they roll a Crit Fail; Crit Success is an automatic dunk of the prisoner and Dunker gains (+2) ACC (for this game only).

3. Blue – Dunker is jinxed on Crit Fail; Dunkee is jinxed on Crit Success roll, in addition to being dunked. [NOTE: Stephen will be the one casting the jinxes and it will be assumed he successfully casts.]

4. Green – Dunker loses(-2) Acc on Crit Fail; Crit Success means automatic dunking of the prisoner; Dunker Gains (+5) ACC, and gets only (1) additional free throw, even if it is another Crit Success.

5. Any ties will break in favor of the Dunkee because everything has been skewed in Dunkers' favor.

The Dunkee – (Ev) rolls

1. Basically, just sit there.

2. You must relinquish your wand upon approach to the cage. There is a platform inside the cage, reached by way of a slot, where you shall place your wand before entering. It was once used to feed a dragon, so there is more than enough room for your wand to rest safely in the cage with you, but somewhat out of reach. No one will ever make contact with it but you.

3. After you are released, you are free to retrieve it the same way you put it in. DO NOT FORGET to RP picking your wand back up on your way out!

4. Turning over your wand is a matter of security. This is so you are not tempted to use it during the course of events. After all, prisoners are never allowed to have weapons in a courtroom, and the cage will be your courtroom now. If you know wandless or non-verbal magic, I have no control over that. The seat is enchanted, however, to keep you in place unless you are dunked. Feel free to rage against the machine, smack talk your accuser or the crowd, and ultimately take your punishment like a big boy or girl if such is doled out. Or not if that would be more entertaining for all of us!

5. As you approach the cage, you will note the signage below the target. It will say, “Will you Prove Worthy?” This is being asked of both the Dunker and Dunkee, actually. The Dunker has a case to prove – and they may fall short themself, but this is about your “alleged” shortcomings, not theirs. If the Dunkee is dunked even once, they have been proven unworthy, and the sign changes to read, “Sentenced to Soak!” If the prisoner, or Dunkee, is not dunked, the signage will read “Unsoaked and Unrepentant!”

6. As you leave the booth area, your Bounty poster will be hung on the wall. An “X” through it signals your “Guilt”. A check mark indicates your “Acquittal”.

I am capping it to 7 sign ups per week. Please do not sign up if there are already 7 people ahead of you for that week (Adult Volunteers do not count towards the cap of 7).

Each week, you have from Monday until Friday to sign up. Form will be closed at some point on Friday and will re-open after the Moderation takes place on Sunday, after which everyone is free to make their posts. Then sign-up will re-open. Rinse and repeat.

Some weeks will have Adult volunteers who you may sign up to dunk, but they have only three slots which can be filled. There will be no advance notice given as to who they are or when they will appear on the Sign-Up form.
