Setting: The boat had mid afternoon, cloudy

Brighton had had a busy day exploring. Brighton had been to all of the necessary places but there was something about going down to the boathouse that just made him feel connected there. But what could it be? He had been in the library and he was able to check out his first book. He had a fascination with mermaids and was curious to learn more and more about them. Sure, he had read about mermaids in fairytales and folklores as well as other mythological tales but getting the opportunity to someday meet one would be amazing!
Brighton made his way down the long and cutting edged path of stone stairs down to the boathouse. He knew that no one would be down here since really, the only time this would be used would be sailing the first years across the Black Lake, or so he thought. "It says in here that mermaids do reside in the Black Lake! Fascinating!" Brighton said aloud to himself, "I wonder if there is a way to bring them to the surface..."
Brighton had his satchel across his torso and held the book to his chest arms crossed. He didn't bother to go into the boat house but he found a bench on the side of the building near the water's edge. The Black Lake didn't have a single ripple and it looked as though it was a mirror, reflecting the scenery of the world back at Brighton. He sat at the bench, placed his satchel next to him and opened the book to the first few pages, "Let's see here, chapter one..."

Damien was walking down towards the boathouse as the libary was too quiet for him to read in so he figured he’d go to the boat house and try to find a nice and quiet place to sit down and just read his book. As he made his way towards the boathouse he tried to think of a good spot he could find to read at if anyone wasn’t in the spot of course. He figured that by the edge of the Great Lake would be a good idea as most people would probably go inside the boat house and this means he could be in a nice cool shaded area in peace and quiet. As he got closer to his desired area to read at he stopped in his tracks as he noticed a boy already there by the water reading a book. Damien could barely see the title of the book only part he could make out from it was the word Mermaid. He just sighed as he didn’t think anyone else would be here but he noticed it was only one person so he figured it would be okay to sit near him. He slowly walked over to the boy before sitting down and opening his book which was called “The Best Greek Mythology Stories” before he started to read taking in the quietness of the area as well as the cool breeze. |
