Last School Day
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────A series of tables laid stretched in an unbroken line across the grounds, set at exact intervals and covered in pristine white clothes charmed to stay in place despite the occasional breeze that passed. Attached to them were signs offering minimal instructions necessary. At the head of it sat Professor Samuel Sauber. His off-white shirt and black slacks remained immaculate despite the grass beneath his boots. A ceramic plate held neatly in one hand; finally ungloved. A single slice of apple pie rested on it.
He chewed through his bites as his cold crimson eyes sweeping over the grounds upon which students began to gather.
The first ones arrived cautiously. A few first-years, shoulder hunched as if they expected the tables to vanish or exploded. One made the daring attempt of reaching forward, other warned them adn the third one just rolled her eyes; and proceeded to try something.
The result was dramatic. Harmless, but dramatic nonetheless.
That was all it took.
Within minutes of the first arrivals, word had spread. Older students arrived; curious, amused and skeptical. A fourth year took a swig of something and staggered backward as he laughed. A group of second years formed a circle to take turns as they tried one vial each, reacting with increasingly theatrical flair.
Even some seventh-years, usually far too dignified for these displays, lingered at the far end with their hands in pockets. Subtly observing or pretending not to be interested while very much calculating their pick.
Samuel took another bite of his pie, slow and unbothered. The ground had come alive with sound; snorts, laughter, shriek and occasional thuds of someone toppling into the grass. Nothing concerning.
He finally spoke, not raising his voice but yet able to cut through the chatter. "Enjoy yourselves. That is after all, the point." He paused to swallow a bite. "But if any of you uses this as an excuse to hex, jinx or otherwise harm another; directly or through clever interpretation. I will be forced to shut this down. Permanently with no second chances."
There was a moment of quiet. Then laughter again, nervous, but compliant.
He watched as a pair of students began dramatically impersonating one another, voices pitched and exaggerated. A girl ran past with her mouth breathing fire. A boy tried to document what was happening and accidentally ended up with ink all over his face. Some students observed in clusters, some participated, some simply smirking.
And through it all, Samuel stood still, eating his pie, unamused and utterly satisfied.
The kids were chaotic, but for now, the cattle remained contained.

Damien was following behind other students who was heading towards the grounds as according to what Damien had overheard they was heading their to try out potions that the potions professor Samuel Sauber was allowing them to try as a way of helping him clean out his inventory so he could prepare for the next school year. Damien had to admit it was a smart idea and a good way to do something for the students. As he made his way with the rest of the students he stopped to look around in awe at what he saw. Their was so many potions some he had never even seen before but this was quite a lot of potions he didn’t even know what to look at first. Where do I even start.. He thought to himself as he started to wander around the area a bit. He slowly took his time looking at every potion he saw as one right after the other fascinated him more and more. He was curious to learn more about some of the potions he saw as potions why it wasn’t his favorite class was a class that interested him quite a bit. He continued looking through the trunks deciding to take a look at potions from older years to see if any potions interested him, as he continued to look there seemed to be one potion in particular that interested him a lot, it was some kind of potion with a black liquid that was shaped like a ice sickle. Whoa..now this one looks cool! he had never seen this one before and wanted to know more about it. He looked up noticing professor Samuel was standing alone and decided to as him about it. He slowly approached him before looking up at him.“excuse me professor Sauber, sorry to disturb you but I was wondering if you could tell me what this potions does ?He asked as he smiled at him. “I’ve never heard of it before and it intrigues me and I figured you’d know a lot more about it than me”He said in a soft tone as he held the potion in his hand. |

Graci was immediately intrigued when she saw Professor Sauber and a table of potions. She hadn't talked to the professor at all, only seeing him in potions class and from afar. Quite intimidating, in her option.
Often she found herself intrigued by a lot of things, causing her to be behind on her homework. Which then proceeded to her many hour long homework sessions. Hm. Next year I'll be better. Figure out a better way to balance everything. Maybe I'll ask Phoenix. She seems very studious.
Graci tentatively stepped up to the table, not really reading anything like labels and the sort. Just thinking of how to approach the challenge of picking a potion.
And that's when Phoenix was in her plan. Graci hadn't yet spotted her, but she figured Phoenix would show up soon enough. She always did. Well, not always, but enough times that it seems like a solid probability.
Her plan went a little something like this:
-Find Phoenix.
-Ask Phoenix to pick a potion.
-Consume said potion in a safer way than winging it with a random one.
-Laugh about it and hope Phoenix still likes you because you can never know with her.
To her, it seemed like a pretty solid plan. Nothing too daring and altogether a bit on the safer side of her liking. To whoever said 'you can never be too safe' I call blasphemy. Safety can be stifling. But precautionary measures are put in place for a reason, and she couldn't argue with that. Not that she entirely wanted to. That day wasn't an arguing day, just a fun day.

Kaitlyn heard rumors about potions on the grounds. More specifically, it was Professor Sauber who allowed the students to try potions. ‘Who am I to contradict a Professor? Even though … this sounds … potentially dangerous. I know Professor Sauber will be there … Ugh, I should stop thinking such thoughts. This is meant to be fun. Who am I to take fun away from anyone? Especially on the last day of the term. I may be a prefect, but that doesn’t mean I can’t have fun. Plus … I’d be right there if anything were to happen. A win-win in my book!’
Arriving where Professor Sauber was stationed, with plenty of vials of potions, Kaitlyn gave a small smile to the Professor. It wasn’t a surprise to see other students already there to try a potion. It would be interesting to see what potions would ultimately be tried. Hopefully, a good, wide variety. Having too many students all trying the same ones wouldn’t be too entertaining … in her opinion.
With a smile, Kaitlyn skipped to one of the tables completely flooded with vials. Her blue eyes glanced at the various options. ‘Oh, these are colorful! This is why I like potions! These can have interesting results … At least, I think they’re interesting. I cannot voice my opinion to describe others.’
The Slytherin stopped at a vial with yellow liquid. A sign nearby gave the potion’s name. Volubilis Potion. Bringing the vial to her lips, Kaitlyn drank the liquid, curious as to what she could experience.Word Count:

Everything felt wrong, everything was wrong.
In fact that was the only word he could hear in his head, a sound reduced to a guttural beat at his heart threatened to pound out of his chest. Soon he would be bidding the castle goodbye on the Express, set onto that winding railway that led further from safety and closer to that man he did not want to see, the sole occupant of a house now tragically empty without the light that had once inhabited its halls. Absentmindedly Archer found himself on the grounds, memories of the Scottish Highland he would start missing just a day later. He carried nothing with him, not his notebook, nor his pen, just a head of warring thoughts.
For once in his two years of study Archer had felt comfortable at Hogwarts. Even if his duelling career was on a seeming decline the Os that had appeared on his end of year reports were delivering academic validation at least. His dormitory was as suffocating as it had always been but he found peace in the high rising towers and cloud breaking mountains. Perhaps this was the exact solace he sought to find as he trekked across the grounds, and as the bustling crowds of students milled around him, he had never felt more alone. The year was drawing to an end and as his peers looked forward to holiday destinations he did nothing but panic. All he knew was one all-consuming thought: he shouldn’t go home, he shouldn’t go back.
Suddenly Archer’s ears perked as a familiarly commanding voice rang out across several tables, sharp and straightforward as it rolled through the crowd of gathering students. Through the haze in his mind he recognised it as belonging to Professor Sauber and somehow the steady enunciations cut through the spiralling thoughts and pounding noises. He was drawn, as if pulled on a string, to where throngs of students began to appear, some vaguely familiar yet he could not have been bothered to name them as he pressed his fingers to his temples, which ached under the beating summer sun. He could find far more reasons to attribute this pain to, but out of all the solutions displayed for his taking, one must be the cure.
Archer had only barely caught onto the ends of his words but eyes flitting across the table of potions before him, vials upon vials in all colours, ones he had studied in the bare minority as they blinded him with their variety. Perhaps others would have been hesitant but seeing as one by one the students took them he too glanced across the labelled ones, not giving much difference towards the humours ones that induced flight or impersonated voices. It bewildered him how anyone would consider those comical. Yet then a particular one snagged his attention: a stark white, the modest bottle displayed the subtle figure of a dove on its lid. Marked as a peace draught, he shrugged at the potion never before seen, figured he needed that more than anyone else, nodded his thanks to the relaxed professor, and emptied the vial in one swig.

Lillian saw several students excitedly crowding around a long table. When she walked a little closer, she could see Professor Sauber sitting at the table and explaining what was going on. Like most students, she was just a tiny lot bit scared of Professor Sauber. Especially since potions was her second-to-the-worst subject. So, he probably didn't like her that much.
But, the potion test table looked very interesting. Several other students were participating. And, Professor Sauber was right there in case anything went wrong. So, Lillian decided to join them. She couldn't help it.
Lillian saw lots of colorful potions in intricate glass bottles. First, she just admired the potions vibrant colors, and traced some of the prettier glass designs with her finger. A tiny part of her was picking up on what the other students were doing, but most of her was pretending to be alone, just the way that she liked it.
Soon, Lillian needed to pick one. She couldn't stand here all day just admiring them. But, Lillian wasn't sure what to go for. Should she pick something useful? Something fun? Something that she knew what it did? Or something that she didn't know what the effects were?
Then Lillian saw a pretty green potion in what looked like a perfume bottle, in shape. She read the label, which said, Manegro Potion. She had heard of it before, and knew what the effects were. So, she decided to choose it.
But, she couldn't help a guilty glance in all directions, before drinking the whole bottle. Lillian waited for a second or two for it to take effect, excitedly wondering exactly what would happen.

—date. [ 06/30/25 ]———hair color. [white]———height. [5'10"]———outfit. [durmstrang]——————------------------------ It was the last day of school and Kim was staying at Hogwarts again. Of course, his family wanted him to return home. But he'd come up with the excuse that he was helping out staff for summer camp. He wasn't on the planning committee but was volunteering to help out a little. They'd seemed to buy it and Kim was in a much better mood this year because of this. He'd been heading out for a quick run around the castle when a gathering of people drew his attention. Kim tended to stay away from groups. But he couldn't help but become curious as to why people were gathering there. There weren't a LOT of them and maybe that was why Kim decided to check it out this time. Upon a more careful inspection, Kim realized there were a large amount of potions laid out upon a series of tables out on the grounds. The new professor of potions was seated at said table with a ceramic plate before him. A slice of apple pie could be seen and Kim's eyes zeroed in on it. The pie didn't look as good as it should have. He could see various flaws from his current position. He could have made a better one for him. Perhaps he would one day soon. Kim didn't like having people eat bad food, they should be given the best food possible. But at the same time, it was good he wasn't wasting any food, that was even worse. Kim watched as people approached the table to check it out. Many drank some potions and then experienced their effects, both comical and scary for the drinkers depending on who they were and what they'd picked. There were some who merely lingered near the table, casting their eyes upon the potions but not daring to pick any up. Well, if the potions professor was just going to let them sample them, Kim decided he might as well take advantage of this too. He wasn't entirely sure whether they could just take a potion and not drink it or if to take a potion they needed to drink it. But whatever. If the professor had a problem with him just taking it, he'd either pick another one to drink and try out the effects or try and convince him. To let him have it. Heh. Regardless, this was a pretty fun idea of his and Kim had to admit he was intrigued by this little game of his the wizard was playing with all of the students of Hogwarts. He stepped forward to take one of the invisibility potions and glanced over at the professor for a moment, his fingers wrapping around the small vial of liquid. Kim let his eyes flicker over the others gathered around and took a step back away from the table, to let others take a look if they wished to do so. There were a few others he was interested in but those types of potions were most likely not available to choose from. Such as the exploding ones and the Amortentia. They were fun. Damien noticed another boy was heading towards him and professor Sauber. He looked at the boy and noticed he wore Hufflepuff robes and looked kinda younger or even the same age as Damien, he heard him mention how he wouldn’t recommend trying that potion as a few others had tried potions and ended up in the hospital wing. Damien figured that plenty of people just tried the potions without asking questions like a kid in a candy shop eager to try out everything in the store. He looked at the boy softly he kinda took offense at that as he himself was smart enough to know not to try something he didn’t know what it was about. Does he think I’m stupid…I know not to try things without knowing what it doesHe thought to himself before deciding to speak to him.“Oh no I don’t think I planned to try out the potion necessary I just wanted to know more about different potions so figured this was a good way to learn more about them but I have more sense to try something without knowing what it does first, which is why I was asking professor Sauber here”He said as he just looked at him before deciding to introduce himself“im Damien Dragonclaw and you are ?”He asked the boy as he figured he might as well get to know him and possibly make a new friend and it would just be rude not to converse with the boy and he wouldn’t want to be rude to him. |
