Surprise!! We're Related! PV Damien Dragonclaw

Axyen looked at his cousin, Axyen was curious about what Damien was thinking about at the moment, maybe they had the same thought process or maybe it was something different entirely. Axyen let the thought wander around in his head for a few seconds before he decided to dismiss the thought completely or tried to. Axyen didn't know anything about Damien and Axyen began to think on a deeper level, if he hasn't even heard of Damien, what did that say? 'Does that mean my parents and Damien's parents are not on good terms? But if that's true, why?' Axyen thought to himself, he didn't really know much about his aunts or uncles, well, he wasn't even sure he had any aunts or uncles up until now. It made this confusing and he didn't really know why he wasn't even made aware of Damien's existence even if Axyen's parents and Damien's parents were on bad terms; that most likely meant that something really bad happened or maybe Axyen was just overthinking it a bit too much.

Axyen would then get snapped back to reality by Damien who stated that his favorite classes were Defense Against the Dark Arts and Astronomy. Axyen wasn't sure how he felt about Astronomy, with his bad memory it was sometimes wonderful and other days he didn't even want to get out of bed just to go to some class he truthfully didn't particularly care for all the time. Regardless, Axyen didn't truly hate the class and the awesome moments made up for all of the bad times that came with the class so Axyen leaned more towards liking the class opposed to feeling neutral about it. "Oh, that's nice! I like Astronomy too." Axyen said to Damien as a response, Damien seemed quite proud with his answer as well. So Axyen was happy to hear that Damien was having a nice time at Hogwarts and hopefully he liked the other classes as well but Axyen didn't ask about that for the time being.

Damien seemed surprised to hear that there was a class called Care of Magical Creatures, which actually had Axyen surprised since he assumed Damien would've heard of that classroom at some point during this school year or because of the fact that Damien was a Pureblood. 'Wait, is he a Pureblood? I assume he was because we share the same last name, but maybe we do not share the same family after all? Maybe this all really was nothing more than coincidence??' Axyen thought to himself which would make this the most shocking coincidence ever, but that would also explain so much at the same part and mean the situation was a lot more simple than Axyen had previously imagined after all. Regardless, Axyen still had to confirm to Damien that there was in fact an entire classroom dedicated to learning about Magical Beasts. "Yeah, there is! It's pretty neat and if you do like caring for animals then you fit right into the class already!" Axyen said happily as a response. Axyen thought for a few moments and chose to ask about Damien's hobbies as he figured that would be interesting for him to learn about.

Damien asked what a Duelist was as Axyen explained that his hobbies involved duelling, Defense Against the Dark Arts and taking care of his Pet Pygmy Puff: Arnold. Damien seemed to have never heard of duelling before, so Axyen became even more convinced that Damien wasn't an actual Pureblood or at the very least not from Axyen's family; maybe he was a Half-Blood that just happened to have a really cool surname? Regardless, Axyen wouldn't share these connections, it would feel a little bit awkward and Axyen wasn't too good at dealing with awkward situations. "Oh, duelling is basically when two teams go up against each other and they basically fight each other with wands! The last team standing wins, or if the timer runs out its whoever seems to be in better condition wins!" Axyen explained with great enthusiasm in his voice. He loved duelling even though he often found himself getting quite injured from doing so, for some reason he liked how busy it kept him, he actually had a reason to practice the spells he knew and he also worked with his limited memory by memorizing spells that would be important for duelling.

Axyen also got to learn about some of Damien's hobbies which included painting; something that Axyen has heard of, but he never tired the activity for himself. Baking sweets, something that actually sounded quite fun but unfortunately for Axyen, it was also an activity he never got to experience for himself as well. Finally, there Astronomy and Mythology, Axyen was familiar with the former as it was one of his classes but he has never heard of the latter and still didn't want to ask because he would feel quite awkward for it. "Those sound interesting and also sounds fun!" Axyen said, of course two of those activities in particular caught his attention, painting and baking stuff; he would have to try it out at some point. Then Damien asked who Arnold was and Axyen was so happy that Damien asked.

"Arnold is my best friend! He is a Pygmy Puff, but he's awesome!" Axyen said happily as he began thinking about his Pygmy Puff a bit. "He has purple fur and I got him a while ago!" Axyen said happily, glad that he was still able to recall that moment so clearly. Arnold really was Axyen's pride and joy in this world, the two spent quite a good bit of time together and they had a really strong bond. Nothing could break that between the two, Axyen would make sure of that, he would never let anything stand between the two of them. Axyen was more than happy to talk about Arnold all day long, his chaotic moments, his more fluffy moments and everything else that might be in-between that.

However, Axyen was also well aware of the fact that it would probably be rude to just endlessly talk about Arnold and leave no room for Damien to speak up so that's all Axyen said about Arnold for the time being. Axyen decided it would be a good idea to see what interesting events happened with Damien during his time here at Hogwarts; most likely something crazy since there was always something to do in this castle, but Axyen would have to hear for himself first. Axyen found out that Damien did something called a 'watercolor painting' in the Study Hall of the castle and stated that it was nice and he met somebody with the name Oliver and the two proceeded to have a conversation. Interestingly enough, that actually reminded Axyen of a fairly similar event of his own sometime last year; he wasn't doing any watercolor paintings, but he was drawing...

"Sounds nice!" Axyen said, he wondered what the two had talked about with each other and he really wanted to ask but he figured he shouldn't test his luck here and chose not to ask. However, Axyen decided that this was a good opportunity to shoot a few questions he figured he could ask. "So... what is your family like?" Axyen questioned but then he realized that it may have been a sensitive topic for some people so Axyen figured he needed to quickly correct himself. "If you don't mind me asking, of course!!" Axyen swiftly added, just to be safe. He looked around the courtyard, looking at the various students scattered across it; some of them were talking and making jokes whilst others were leaving carrying stacks of books.

For some reason, it made Axyen feel like he was forgetting something, but he didn't know what it quite was yet. He didn't like that he was failing to remember what it was and so he was starting to feel just ever so slightly stressed about whatever it was he was failing to remember.

Sorry for the late response, I was quite busy but I should be able to post a lot more frequently now!

Damien seemed to be pleased with Axyen's like for astronomy, Axyen did sometimes wish he could sleep in instead of taking the class at certain points, but once he was engaged, that entire viewpoint of wanting to sleep in seemed to shift into something else entirely. Axyen of course knew that Astronomy was something that Muggles could get into as well, which Axyen found impressive considering their lack of access to magic. They didn't have enchanted telescopes like wizards and witches did, but with the few things that Axyen did learn and hear about, it seemed like they would go a very long way.

Unfortunately, that just couldn't be the case as magic had to be hidden away from Muggles, after all, who knows what would happen if Muggles realized magic existed for real? Witch hunts were a real event back in the day, Axyen could recall it from History of Magic class, so if Muggles hypothetically did know about magic, it could create another, modern witch hunt. The mere thought of that sent an uncomfortable chill down Axyen's spine, he didn't want to have another witch hunt happen, maybe somethings were just better off as is and this was one of the hose things, as much of a shame it was.

'Maybe a book on that subject would be nice.' Axyen figured, but he decided he would have to do more research and whatnot. First, he would have to research Muggle reactions to the existence of magic, assuming Axyen could even find something like that in the library and then Axyen would have to research modern Muggle technology. It sounded like a lot of fun research work and would improve his writing skills, making a novel sounded like fun all of a sudden, but still, Axyen was here with his potential but most likely not cousin.

As Axyen explained what Care of Magical Creatures class was in a very, very short summary, Damien seemed to find the idea of such a class delightful. Furthermore, Damien expressed his admiration for animals, particularly his pet cat Apollo. This was Axyen's first time hearing about this pet cat and briefly thought on it as Damien went on to state that this Apollo was adorable which did help with Axyen's visual image of the feline.

'A pet cat, huh?" Axyen wondered what it would be like if he happened to have a pet cat himself, maybe it was something that could be interesting. Despite that, it wasn't as appealing as having Arnold around—Arnold was Axyen's pride and joy and no cat could even dream or comparing to the Pygmy Puff. Not in Axyen's mind, at least and h was completely happy with his (very biased) opinion.

"Ah, I didn't know you had a cat." Axyen commented, he didn't really want to dig for more details on his own since he didn't want to pry. 'It might be too awkward with the current pace of the conversation... Probably...' Axyen decided, perhaps it was just an excuse because he wasn't the best with socializing. Also even if Damien was hypothetically his cousin for real, Axyen still didn't know him and this was going to be his first time hearing of it. 'Besides, I am sure he will just tell me on his own—probably, maybe, potentially.' Axyen noted, thinking of how he imagined most conversations go in these kinds of situations.

Soon enough, Damien asked about dueling and Axyen was more than happy to explain what it was, after all, Axyen himself was a duellist and so it was only natural he knows about the sport he plays. Damien states that Axyen must've been talented while at the sport as Axyen randomly recalled every single loss with unusual vividness, it felt like Axyen was hit by all of those spells in one go remembering the past. Uh.. yeah, um thanks." Axyen said, actively choosing not to enlighten Damien on Axyen's win-loss ratio.

Damien states that his father might have mentioned the concept of duelling in the past, but Damien was considerably more interested in the book he was reading at the time. 'How do you hear about duelling and decide it is boring or not worth listening to!?' Axyen internally shouted with not even a sliver of a hint of his thoughts being displayed outwardly. Still, Damien probably was a Half-blood like Axyen suspected, a wizard father and a Muggle mother—this whole Dragonclaw affair was nothing more than a coincidence.

Damien then asked Axyen who Arnold was unlike Axyen who didn't ask for further details on Apollo when he or she (it sounded like a male name to Axyen, but he wasn't too sure) was brought up earlier in the conversation. Axyen then excitedly explain who Arnold was, the most special person in the entire world: a Pygmy Puff with gorgeous purple fur and soul of a demon angel that could cause a lot of no harm and consistently never thinks to cause mischief. Axyen could probably go on and on about Arnold Dragonclaw all day long, but he had to restrain himself for the sake of the conversation.

Damien called their bond sweet and even stated that it reminded him of his cat Apollo, similarly to Axyen, it would seem as if Damien also has a close bond with his cat. 'Ah, I knew more information about his cat would come to me. All apart of conversation flow or something like that.' Axyen thought, mentally giving himself a pat on the back for his prediction there. Despite him technically getting more information about Apollo, the cat, it didn't really paint a clearer picture about what the cat looked like or how it acted.

However, Damien suggested the two meeting up and seeing how they would react seeing each other. Axyen absolutely loved the idea of that and was more than happy to express that if an opportunity for such an event was to become available, Axyen was more than willing to take it. "Yeah, that sounds great! I would love for the two to meet if possible." Axyen replied, thinking about what might happen if the two interacted—of course, Axyen would have to take extra steps to make sure Arnold behaved, but that was never a problem.

By this point, Axyen was pretty much convinced the two weren't related and the they had a last name coincidence somehow. However, that didn't stop him from asking about Damien's family life, but made sure to ensure that Damien was comfortable with it first since he didn't really want to pry too much—maybe it was a better idea to not ask at all, now that Axyen was thinking about it. Still, Damien was comfortable enough to answer Axyen's question despite the two not actually knowing each other.

Damien described his home life as a good one and described his dad to be busy, which reminded Axyen of his dad who was usually busy from time-to-time, but they shared a great bond and that only made their connection more special. At least, to Axyen it made their bond more special because since they have limited time together before his father has to go back to the Ministry for work, Axyen has learned to make the most out of their time together. Even without his dad, home life was never boring because Axyen's annoying older brother Jacob existed and he causes quite a lot of annoyance and probably took 5 years off of Axyen's life from irritation alone.

Back to Damien's story, he spoke of his mother in a positive manner describing her as lovely and stating that they bake cakes together and he even helps her with rose bushes. "Oh, that sounds like fun!" Axyen said, he suddenly came up with a fun way to steer the conversation and that was none other than the fact that Damien bakes cake with his mom. "What is your favorite type of cake?" Axyen asked with a smile.

'There are no right answers to this question,' Axyen mentally acknowledged, thinking of all the types of possibilities with cakes and things of that nature. 'But there are certainly wrong answers.' Axyen noted, listening for Damien's answer. Axyen still didn't know what it was he was trying to remember, there was something he was doing before this weird conversation.

Axyen looked vaguely annoyed and if he didn't remember what it was he was trying to do, it was only going to get worse. He just needed to remember because it felt vaguely important and Axyen couldn't tolerate the idea of not remembering something. Especially if it felt important, Axyen could only hope he would remember whatever it was that he was forgetting soon.

Axyen admittedly felt a bit proud of himself, this felt like his 'genius' plan which was definitely not unexpected and didn't feel luck-based at all, it was like he kind of predicted, Damien did indeed seem interested about talking about his cat. Honestly, that felt way too easy, maybe socializing was never that hard to begin with and things wouldn't end up being so bad, then again, Damien was the same kid that asked Axyen if he could sit near him in a public space. Additionally, they had quite the interesting conversation about each other potentially being related and trying to see if they can find any family ties but seemed to be going nowhere and so it evolved into learning about each other somehow; not that Axyen minded or thought it was a bad thing though.

Back to Damien's cat, Axyen learned that the cat's name was 'Apollo' which had Axyen pause, somehow, the name... it sounded familiar but Axyen didn't know why. 'Do I know an Apollo? No, no I do not know somebody with that name... right? Why does it sound so familiar then? Agh! That is definitely going to stress me out later soon!' Axyen thought to himself, feeling miserable for not being able to remember where he heard the name 'Apollo' assuming he has ever heard it before. Moving on from that, Damien described his cat as sweet and orange and he even stated that he named the cat 'Apollo' because of the cat's brightness.

While Damien wonderfully recalled his time he bought the cat and while Axyen was mixed up with thinking about his unforgivable failures as a duellist, Axyen connected the name 'Apollo' to brightness; was it a latin name? No, that didn't sound right, it would probably sound something more like 'Lumos', wouldn't it? Axyen lightly shook his head a bit, willing himself to mentally drop it for the time being as he would have to look into it later on; assuming he would get that chance to, that is.

Axyen decided to eventually ask about Damien's favorite cake after he had learned that Damien and his mom baked cakes together, Axyen thought it would be a decent question to ask and would make for a decent conversation or so Axyen had hoped. Three years into Hogwarts was three years of socializing and he still wasn't used to this kind of thing, he didn't know if that was a good question to ask, but he at the very least knew it wasn't a bad question to ask at the very least; although, judging by Damien's face seeming to light up brighter than the Lumos spell itself, Axyen internally decided that he had asked one of the good questions. As if searching for an answer, Damien opened his bag and took out a dark book with a picture on it, a dragon, or rather parts of a dragon, the pictures had what appeared to be simplistic flames behind it and parts of the dragon's wing was revealed.

For some reason, Axyen felt like he had seen such a symbol before, but he couldn't place his mind quite on it. Perhaps it felt like it was familiar because Axyen's surname was 'Dragonclaw' and this was a dragon that was showing its claws, stretched outwards; quite an odd connection, really, but Axyen felt off, he really felt like he had seen that symbol somewhere, but where? Somehow, it felt important to him in a vague sense and it was beginning to stress him out quite a bit, but he just let it go, if he didn't remember it then it couldn't be THAT important, right?

'If that picture was somehow important, then I surely would remember it.' Axyen decided, making an excuse to not think about it any further for the time being. Thankfully, Damien opened the book and flipped to some seemingly random page from Axyen's perspective, but then again, this was Damien's book and so it only made sense he knew what pages to flip to. Damien offered the book to Axyen, Axyen hesitated briefly before grabbing the book and taking it look at it.

Damien explained that his favorite cake was his mom's version of a lemon pound cake, something Axyen had never tried before. Come to think of it, he didn't really try too many cakes or anything that would fall under that category, his mind came up a bit blank so he didn't know what the name of said category was, but he just never really tried many cakes except on birthday parties. "Oh, okay! That sounds tasty!" Axyen said with a smile.

'That... doesn't really sound appealing at all, who puts lemon in a CAKE?!' Axyen wondered to himself, but he decided to not share his real thoughts out loud, he didn't want to offend Damien or anything. Axyen suddenly had a thought snap back to him, this was probably good time to check on Arnold, he didn't want Arnold to be alone or anything, so he would have to cut this conversation short for the time being and knowing himself quite well, probably forget about this in a week at most or something like that. "Oh, that being said..." Axyen said, trying to think of a way to make it sound as though he wasn't in a rush, but he just didn't have time for that right now since Arnold may or may not be waking up and he might be hungry or thirsty when he woke up.

'Wait, I did leave food and water, right!? Oh no, I didn't!' Axyen realized, as he failed to recall if he left food or water for his pet (he did). "I'msorryIhavetogoIhavesomethingimportanttodo!!! (I'm sorry I have to go, I have something important to do!!!)" Axyen said, rushing off to find his poor Arnold who must be famished (Arnold would be eating like a king if he was awake) at the moment. Axyen felt himself sprint off at speeds he didn't even know he was capable of, Axyen didn't forget to bring his own bag with him as well. The sudden increase of speed and lack of control caused Axyen to nearly stumble into someone and run face first into one of the brick walls, but he luckily managed to steer himself out of the way at the last second.

"Sorry!" Axyen called, whether it was directed to Damien or the student he nearly bumped into, it was all up to interpretation. Axyen ran out of the courtyard and was now gone, probably zooming for his Hufflepuff dorm room to make sure that Arnold wasn't dying or anything like that.
