Books and Bonding PV Damien Dragonclaw Finished

The cool spring breeze and the blooming flowers in the air had made Damien in a pretty good mood if he said so himself. He had just finished his book own personal book he had on Greek mythology and he was in the mood for reading another one, he had heard rumors of the Hogwarts library having some of the best books around so he decided to come into the library and check it out.

He was hoping to maybe find a book about Apollo or Hades as that was his favorite w from the books he read, he began to browse the section of books they had as he hummed a quiet but soft tune while looking around.

He had yet to find any interesting book that stuck out to him, he did find a book on the tale of Hades and Persephone but he had already read that one multiple time and why it wouldn’t hurt to read it again he didn’t want to read it again if he could help it.


While he continued browsing he looked up on a little higher shelf and noticed an old but nice looking leather bound book which looked absolutely intriguing to him.

”well what do we have here” He smiled as he began to leaned up and reach for the book gently grabbing it before trying to pull it towards him gently.

Landon was always looking forward to reading a new book. Sometimes he was surprised that he wasn't a Ravenclaw with how much he loved to read and stuff, but the sorting hat had placed him in Hufflepuff and he felt right at home there. Who said you couldn't be a nerdy Hufflepuff? Landon's particular focus was always on history, but things that related to history also caught his interest. For example, mythology always caught his interest. It was the way people understood the world at the time and he wanted to understand their world views.

So when Landon was browsing through books, he was thinking about the historical context, but he was also looking forward to the stories. He loved the way that the stories helped explain things to people when they couldn't understand, The stories themselves were just fun as well.

Landon's hands reached for the same book as the other boy and he looked over, his blue eyes hesitant. "Oh, sorry, I didn't know someone else was reaching for the same book," he said and pulled his hand away from it again. He didn't want to make anyone feel like he was going to be bossy and demanding of the book. Just because Landon was, at least as far as he could tell, older than the other boy, didn't mean that he was going to be rude about the book. It was just a book; Landon could check it out later if he wanted.

"You can take it," he said, smiling softly. "I'll find another book to read." Landon was very easy-going when it came to these sorts of things. He turned to look back at the shelf, sighing softly. He had been looking forward to the book, but there were thousands to read in the Hogwarts library and he was determined to find one. Landon turned to look back at the boy with the book. "I'm Landon Matthews," he said, extending a hand to introduce himself. "Third year, Hufflepuff," he explained.

Damien enjoyed reading quite a lot actually it was one of the reason he think he was sorted into Ravenclaw, so call him a nerd if you want he felt that title fit him nicely. He jumped slightly not expecting someone else to be reaching for the book as he noticed the boy let go of the book to let Damien have it. He felt bad as he tried to push the book towards the boy.


“No no it’s quite alright you can take it I don’t mind! He said smiling at him softly, he didn’t mind at all if the other boy took it since he could look at all the different books in the schools library for the time being since he hadn’t read any of them yet.


“Landon Matthew’s nice to meet you I’m Damien Dragonclaw Ravenclaw first year. he said as he took his hand shaking it before speaking again to Landon.”I insist you take the book though I can read it some other time! This is my first time in the library so I can look at a few other books for the time being.” he said softly as he was happy to let Landon read this book.

”And I’m sure their is plenty of more Greek mythology or other mythology books I can check out and if not I know I’ll find a astronomy book to keep my interested!

Landon watched as the other boy pushed the book back toward him and Landon hesitated before taking the book. "How about we look at it together?" he suggested. He wasn't in any hurry and, reading in the library was still good, even if it wasn't outside. "Or I find you when I'm done and give it to you?" he offered. He was happy to share, though he would be willing to discuss the topic they would be reading about. He was always happy to discuss history and things like mythology.

Landon held the book and looked at Damien after the younger boy introduced himself. He shook his hand with his free hand as they both introduced themselves and smiled softly. "First time in the library? And a Ravenclaw? You definitely will spend a lot of time here. I love the library, but I guess the Sorting Hat saw me as a Hufflepuff instead of a Ravenclaw, so I ended up yellow instead of blue," he explained. He didn't know why he was talking so much, but he wanted to explain how he could relate to the Ravenclaw in a way.

"You like mythology and astronomy?" he repeated. "I do like how they tie together, though I'll admit I know more about the history than the stars themselves," he explained. He hummed softly. "I do love looking up at the stars, but I think it's mainly because they are so old and that old historical figures were likely looking up at the same stars as me," he added. Landon really couldn't help but bring history into the conversation.

Damien looked up at the boy as he smiled hearing him suggest they look at it together. “I’d love to read it together it seems like fun” he said softly as he had a pleasant smile on his face. ”and yes this is my first time in the school library and I think i love it already it’s so much more books and way bigger than the study in my house.” He said as he looked around the Libary before looking back at Landon.

”Who wouldn’t love the library its where you can read amazing and wonderful stories and learn so much about mythology and astronomy and so much more!” He said as he was basically starting to geek out about his hobbies before stopping himself.”and you do kinda seem like you’d be in Ravenclaw but yellow suits you alot it looks nice on you!” He said while smiling at him.


His smile began to grown wider as he heard Landon talk about how astronomy and mythology tie into each other together. ”I know! It’s why I love it! And I don’t fully know the history of the stars I more so know alot of things about the stars it self so maybe you could teach me a thing or two about it while we read this book!” He said smiling as he didn’t know much about the history of the constellations he looked at.

Landon smiled widely as Damien agreed to read the book together. "It might not be the easiest thing to do, but then we can talk about what we read or something?" he suggested. "If we want. Also okay to stay quiet if that's preferred," he added. "The library is one of my favorite places in the castle, and I spend a lot of time here, though I also spend a lot of time at the Quidditch pitch," he explained.

Landon smiled as Damien spoke excitedly about how great the library was. It was endearing seeing the younger boy so excited. "I see you really like the library," he observed with a chuckle. "I hope you still feel that way about it after a few years at the school," he added. He didn't want to discourage the younger boy's excitement. He looked down at his robes and then looked up at Damien. "Yeah, I like yellow more than I used to. Blue is always my favorite, but yellow brightens things up."

Landon smiled as they talked about astronomy, mythology, and history. He loved the way those three things intertwined with each other. "We can do that," he said with a smile. "I'm not the best at teaching people yet, but I do want to be a history professor someday, so it could be good practice," he added. He was fairly set in what he wanted to do for a living once he graduated from Hogwarts. He didn't even care if he wasn't a Hogwarts professor; he just wanted to teach.

Damien nodded at him happily as he suddenly got an idea in his head. “It would be easier if we took turns and read it out loud ? Like you read a chapter and then we discuss it and then I read a chapter and we discuss it” He said with a smile on his face as he figured that was the easiest and smartest way to do this.

He heard him mention spending alot of time on the Quidditch pitch so this made him think that he must play Quidditch. “Oh so you play Quidditch ? That’s cool what position do you play? He asked him as Quidditch had fascinated him quite a bit and he wanted to eventually be a chaser for Ravenclaw, he chuckled softly to himself as he heard Landon say he hoped Damien still like the library in a few years.

“Of course I will! Back at home my family has a study room full with books but not many books I enjoy so I’m sure I’ll find a lot of books here for me to enjoy for quite awhile.” He said smiling as he was really enjoying his conversation with Landon. He suddenly noticed him looking down at his fellow Hufflepuff robes before saying how he liked yellow a lot more than he used too but blue is still his favorite color. “Blue is such a good color and yellow is very good to it helps brighten up the place besides blue and yellow just look great together overall” He said while looking up at Landon.

Hearing him mention how he don’t think he’d be a good teacher but give it his best shot to teach Damien about the history of the stars made Damien smile especially hearing him mention wanting to me the history Professor eventually. “That is such a good goal! You will be a great teacher and a history professor too! I one day once I’m older want to tryout for Astronomy professor I think it be amazing to teach the students about the stars the planets and so much more” He said smiling softly before he took Landon’s hand and began guiding him to a little corner in the Libary he had found one time which was dark and had two lanterns their lighting the area but also cozy and away from many of the other students.

“Alright! Would you like to read first or would you want me to read the first chapter?” He asked softly smiling at him as he sat down onto the floor of the library having a hopefully look in his eyes as he may have just made a new friend.

Landon smiled and nodded. "That could work, as long as we keep it down so we don't disturb the other people in the library," he explained. He didn't want to get them into trouble, but he really wanted to read this book and he was happy to share it with Damien. He didn't mind sharing when it came to learning new things.

Landon nodded as Damien asked him if he played Quidditch. "Yes, I do. I'm the reserve Keeper for the Hufflepuff Quidditch team," he answered. Landon eventually hoped to be the main Keeper, but he also worried about failing his team, so he was happy to spend time on the bench if it meant he would be able to improve his skills before taking the reins. "I really love Quidditch," he admitted sheepishly. Landon knew that many people wouldn't picture him as being the athletic sort, but Landon loved being athletic too. He just was a quieter, more bookish sort of person.

Landon smiled at the excitement in Damien's voice as he talked about books and the library. "We have a decent sized library at our home too, but there really isn't much to compare to Hogwarts' library. It is quite amazing," he observed. He really liked the library and spent a lot of time there. Landon smiled as Damien stated that blue and yellow went well together. "Yes, I think they do," he said with a smile.

Landon smiled happily as Damien said he would be a great professor. "I don't know about that, but I really do like the idea of it. I want to make history interesting and so many people really hate the subject," he explained. "It could be really cool to be a professor." Landon looked surprised as the younger boy grabbed his hand to lead him to a spot to read together. He wasn't expecting his hand to be held. But Landon held the book as they walked, smiling. It was obvious that the younger boy was just eagerly showing Landon something.

He took a seat next to Damien and smiled. "Either one of us can start the reading. If you want to, go ahead," he said. He leaned back against the wall of the library to get comfortable so they could read together.

Damien smiled at him as he listened to him talk about quidditch and how he was the Hufflepuff keeper which Damien thought was extremely cool and exciting. “Thats epic! And whoa I heard about keepers that’s epic! I really want to be the Ravenclaw chaser! I just hope I’m good enough to make the team!” He chuckled softly as he got himself comfortable in the little quiet nook that he had found the first time he was in the library before smiling at Landon. “I think you’d be a amazing and cool history professor! And how could anyone not like history! It’s like one of the best subjects! Behind Astronomy of course which is the best and most amazing class I believe they have at Hogwarts” He said as he just was beaming thinking about how cool Astronomy was he specifically liked the Astronomy teacher the most.


He perked up at Landon mentioning how his family also has a large library but it still didn’t compare to Hogwarts massive library. This intrigued Damien as it made him think he was from a pureblood family too. “Whoa that’s cool that you got a family library too! So you hat must mean your a pureblood right ? And you could start reading as I feel like you’d be a really good story teller!” He said smiling softly as his greyish blue eyes shine bright in the lanterns reflection while his pearly white teeth shine brightly as if it was a beacon of light.

Suddenly his eye light up at a reminder of something before looking at Landon. “Hey I got a question..I heard that Hufflepuff common rooms are close to the kitchens and that gives yall access to them as well is that true ?” He asked looking at him eagerly as Damien loved to bake and right now he craved a delicious lemon pound cake that his mother used to make lucky for him he had all the recipes in a book he brought with him no so lucky for him though was the fact he had no access to such ingredients or a way to bake this cake but if Landon did then maybe he could access the kitchens and bake the pound cake! While also sharing it with friends aswell.
