Quidditch Gryffindor vs. Slytherin - Spring 2025

"I 'aint takin' that bet, kid, they always hit the beaters before they hit the keeper. I'll be on this bench for the foreseeable future," Nicholas drawled in response to Oonagh's offered bet. With an audible harumph, the second string keeper leaned backward onto the bench, allowing his robe to fall around him in a misshapen lump of cloth.

As his eyes darted across the game, it became clear that his estimation proved correct, as Ethan Smith found himself knocked from his broom. Nicholas slapped the younger girl on the shoulder, before leaning forward. The match wasn't exactly going well, but things could always come good.

"Come on, lions!"

Oonagh's time to shine had come pretty much right away, so she pushed herself off the bench and gave her broom a pat. "Don't break on me this time ye piece o wood," she muttered before taking off into the sky. It sucked that they had not lost one, but two of their more capable players. But Oonagh being in the game would surely make up for the blatant difference in strength they had thus far displayed.

Flying past a familiar face, she grinned mischievously at @Koko Riddle, "A think yer nail polish is chippit!" Before baring her teeth like a feral cat and flying off. She would be saying things to Pax too or Ethan for that matter but they were taking a flight of shame and one had become a pancake on the ground after no student came to his rescue. A shame really.

"Quit dreamin an focus!" she called out to @Meyra Lancaster. Adrenaline was pumping through her veins fast enough due to the excitement for the game, she couldn't help but yap at her team mate. Though it was surely deserved this time. If this had been practice she would have sent a bludger Meyra's way to 'wake her up' all by herself. The grin on Oonagh's face only grew as she momentarily entertained the idea of friendly fire in an official match. Pax would go ballistic if Oogie dared, which only made the idea of it more entertaining. But Oonagh wanted to win and thus she tried to get a good picture of the situation at hand, or tried to.

xxThe bludger made hard contact with Maggie's side, and she cried out, clutching onto her broomstick for dear life. "Bloody hell," she hissed, screwing her eyes shut and trying to ignore the dizzying feeling of being nearly knocked off her broomstick. Stupid bludgers. She managed to hang on, miraculously, hands gripping the end of her broom with such force it was bruising. Maggie had the good sense to at least slam herself into someone else, some random Gryffindor kid, to kick him off his own broomstick, disappearing into the cloud layer above and evading her penalty.

Mellani looked on as Koko caught the quaffle thrice, and scored 30 points for Slytherin. Mell took hold of the quaffle herself and grinned at Koko when the latter cheered her up. She shot the quaffle into the hoop once, but it was blocked the second time. "Yes, definitely a fluke", she said, still grinning at Koko. She was going to miss the seventh year so much.

Mell looked on as Dan found the snitch. There was no way they wouldn't win this match. Not with such a great team.

Note: The new target still gets their normal dodge attempt. This is not considered to be an auto-dodge, in fact this roll is done before any accuracy rolls are done.

In the role of Seeker when you have found the snitch, if someone attempts to use Alley Oop to help you find the snitch, you will not have disadvantage. However, with this broom you do not gain the +1 chance to grab the snitch for rounds that the Alley Oop is used. To clarify, each round someone attempts to grab a snitch they get a +1 to the attempt and this stacks. There is no bonus (or stack from this round's attempt to grab) to grabbing the snitch.

In the role of Seeker, when using the search action if you critically fail on your search you get a re-roll in an attempt to find the snitch. In an attempt to grab the snitch, if you critically fail on your attempt to grab the snitch you get to re-roll your attempt to grab the snitch.

The crack of his bat against the bludger was like music to his ears. Releasing the tension that was held high in his shoulders. Percival felt his deep frown lessen into a happier expression as he watched the bludger sail into red. Even better was watching that red fall helplessly to the ground. A smirk pulled across his face as he let out a victorious cry. Though, as he watched his bludger turn and go into green he found his smile fall slightly. Ah, shoot, he hit Hawkins. It seemed he got a bit overzealous in his need to release some tension. Percival would call out a halfhearted apology to the dark-haired girl before refocusing on the game.

1. In the role of Beater, if you hit an opponent with a bludger the bludger will then ricochet off that user and target a second opponent of choice (must be declared, if not declared the target will be random and can be an ally but not yourself).

2. In the role of Beater, if an ALLY dodges a bludger during the round, there is a 20% chance that you catch that bludger with your bat and you send it at a RANDOM enemy target.

3. In the role of Beater, if you critically hit with a bludger, instead of doing double-damage you do 2.5x damage. If you critically fail with your bludger attempt to hit, rather than having your bludger randomly target another user (including yourself or an ally) the bludger cannot target you on a critical fail (but it can still target your allies). On a re-target, there is a random roll for target and then a fresh accuracy roll.

Another match had begun, and I could feel the nerves creeping in. But then I heard the chatter of my teammates—their voices somehow grounded me, pulling me back into the moment.

I may not be someone well known among them, but I was still part of this team—something I had always dreamed of.

Time to snap out of dreamland—match mode on! The weather was perfect, and the opponents... well, intimidating, to say the least. But never mind that.
