Hit. Max squinted in disbelief, shocked he'd managed to actually get such a small target as the boy across the field was swallowed up by the glass. That was two down by his hand, and for a moment he allowed himself a quiet moment of triumph. There was no time to waste, however; Adam Harringtom suddenly lobbed a ball his way and Max was forced to leap to the side to avoid being hit square on. Ah, so now people were beginning to take notice and make him a target. He cast his glance around for the ball Adam had thrown, but it was too soon picked up by a younger girl behind him.

Other people will still tossing spells, but Max was intent on taking down as many of the other team as he could before he was inevitably struck out. When you were a grunt in a war, you made sacrifices for your side and took down as many people as you could while doing it. Speaking of sacrifices, one of the girl prefects who he vaguely recognized from the tea party was also taken by the lake. Left lying all alone in the area she'd just been was a ball that Max had used once before, one he'd kept track of as best he could. Perhaps it would bring him luck again.

Keeping low, he ran across the field to scoop up Ball 3 and turn to the Ravenclaw side. There were plenty of good targets - he would throw at anyone besides Phaedra - yet there was only one person he set his sights on. "Sorry, Harringtom," he muttered under his breath with a fox's smile. "But, as they say, all's fair in love and war. You started it." He'd already taken down one of the players affecting those on the field, and he knew Adam's presence tended to calm people. Slowing his breathing and focusing so he wouldn't be overconfident, he took his time and threw. Three would be a nice, solid number of people to hit.
Action: Throw Ball 3 at Adam Harringtom

xxxxHer disarming charm was successful, but not quite as quick as she would have liked. Katrina's spell still set off and engulfed a large portion of Ravenclaw's side with smoke. Noticing the girl's smog grow nearer, Phaedra had enough mind to attempt dodging out of the way, but the onshore breeze, as cooling as it was, proved unmerciful. The smokescreen flew directly into her face, making her eyes water and her hair blow and entangle around her head from the winds. She had no idea how long she stood there rubbing at her eyes with a grimaced expression, but she was expecting a hit.

xxxxHowever, that never came. As the winds eventually faltered, Phaedra felt weights lift off of her shoulders and was able to lift her head up to a slightly different scene. She risked a quick glimpse to see Kaegen and several others in the water. Two teammates down but she didn't care much about the scary one— without that lunatic's bad vibes mucking up the place, perhaps Ravenclaw would be able to concentrate better. She was feeling more confident already and decided then and there that she'd try throwing a ball for once.

xxxx"Good riddance, you freak," she muttered under her breath before swooping down to pick up the ball that had rolled towards her foot. It was the ball Kaegen had barely gotten hit with. Smirking, she tossed it in her hands before winding back her throwing arm and setting her eyes on... Xailah would do nicely. It would serve as a satisfying sense of justice if she could land a hit on Kaegen's friend as well. That Gryffindor must've been some conspiracist like him or something, because Phaedra couldn't see why anyone sane would talk to him. Guilt by association, if you will.

Yes! As she waded through the crowd, she was able to not get hit, and grab her wand. As she picked it up, she took in a deep breath and jumped to her feet, looking back to the enemy team. Now was her chance to do something memorable! Not that casting a spell was that memorable. Everyone was doing it.

Millie looked over the crowd, with not much problem, she was tall. As she looked through the crowd, she saw how many people were getting knocked out. Left and right, people were getting hit with dodgeballs, it was insane what was going on! After they were hit, the floor below them broke! That water wasn't warm, it must've been freezing!

"I really hope I don't get frozen to death," She whispered, pointing her wand to the Ravenclaw crowd. Which one? What about... all of them? Or, at least the people she could see. She knew a simple Fumos spell couldn't hit the entire Ravenclaw team (as much as she'd like, anyway) but it could hit a few!

"Fumos!" She shouted, waving her wand at the Ravenclaw crowd.

Dymphna had gotten lucky. Later she might agree that it was because of her fellow Quidditch player [@Jorah Moussa] cheering her on from the sidelines, but in actuality she hadn’t heard him. There was too much happening at once for her to focus on anything but the game itself. She wouldn’t tell him that though, wanting her new friend to think that he’d helped. Perhaps it was others cheering for the team that made them lucky afterall.

Trying to scan the area, Dymphna could barely make out anyone. “Damnú!” Her own Fumos seemed to backfire upon her and she couldn’t tell if it had gotten anyone else. Staying away from spells, especially Fumos, would be her best bet for now. The only ball in her sight was the one that went soaring passed her a moment ago [Ball 6] so she picked it up and lobbed it in the direction of Gryffindor. If she got lucky once, maybe luck would be on her side again.

It didn't fail. Good. It would have been slightly embarrassing if it had failed. Now that she solved that little problem, she had another to take care of- and that was, the kid who had hit her in the first place. The clumsy Ravenclaw was lucky enough to hit some poor Gryffindor girl- which was surprising to say the least, but now his luck was about to run short. She had him right where she wanted him, in the smoke, and vulnerable.

She locked on to him, like a cat stalking a helpless bird. Eyes slotted, teeth chattering ever so slightly. Wand raised- but someone got in the way. It was the girl she had tried to throw a ball at previously. So now she had to make a choice. Does she go after the boy? Or does she go after the Girl? Decisions, decisions. She hated making those. Girl I suppose. She turned quickly to face the third year. "Spongify."

If she got out, then she got out- at least she could try and hit her attacker. If she didn't get out- even better, she still had a chance to go after the boy then too. A chance to keep him down, to keep him vulnerable. A chance to further humiliate him. Do not give her that chance. She wanted the boy to run. Yes moving targets were harder to hit, but thats the thrill of the chase, is it not?

Miss? Again?! Come on! Adam resisted the urge to curse in frustration and started to backpedal away from the dividing line, deeper into Ravenclaw territory. They'd lost a few more folks this round, much to his dismay. Kaegen was gone too -- but that seemed to actually relieve some of the dismay. Funny.

Throwing balls had brought little success to the blond boy thus far, so it was time to turn to his other option. Slipping his wand out from his sleeve, he held it tightly in his fist and ran through the remnants of the smoke clouds still hovering over his team. Defense was a noble endeavor, but sometimes an unfruitful one, and he knew his teammates could largely protect themselves. That left the other option: offense. From shield to sword. Narrowing his eyes as he surveyed the opposition once again, he scanned the waving wands and tried to remember who'd been the most trouble in the past.

One of the Gryffindor girls was conjuring quite a storm, though he didn't know her name. She'd dealt out a few spells before losing her wand, and now that she had it, she looked like she was firing off another one. He might be too late to prevent her latest cast, but if this pattern kept up, he might be able to cut her out from her comfort zone in the future.

And he supposed there was nothing stopping him from widening his range a little bit. Euphrasia was a good strategic choice, but there was room in this game for more than just strategy. His brain had chosen the girl, but his heart longed for someone else -- Max Avery, sitting pretty on his side of the field after Adam's earlier shot had missed. Would it be as effective as getting him out of the game? No, not at all. But did he like the idea of rendering the other boy speechless for a little bit? Hell yes. Revenge was always sweet.

In the heat of the moment, he was maybe a little too excited to be launching a spell against the lions. His movements were noticeably more forceful than they usually were, and as he squinted down the end of the wand at Euphrasia, he shouted out his incantation louder than necessary. A quick swivel of his arm was all it took to aim for Max, and another incantation sent a spell his way. Adam was being reckless, but sometimes that helped. His curse would certainly be strong if not accurate. For a spell with such a silly name, it had a pretty big effect. It was time for the ol' one-two; he'd like to see those cats cast anything else for a while if this hit.

I've been cleared for this ability, but I'm not sure if it's something I would've had to clarify at the beginning of the thread in order to use. If there's an issue, please let me know and I'll be happy to edit my post to cut out the use of the ability. Thank you!

Adrian watched in anticipation as her sneezing hex flew from her wand to the Ravenclaw. But I was all for naught as the hex missed his face perfectly and flew by. Darn it! I missed! But her frustration at herself disappeared once she saw a ball hit him, causing the floor to let out, where he proceed to fall into the lake. "Yes!" she cheered to herself.

Looking around she scanned the field for balls. Spotting one, she ran and took it. Clutching the ball close to her chest, she surveyed the crowd looking for a target. Then she spotted her, the third year Ravenclaw prefect! Adrian made up her mind, took aim and let the ball fly. Please don't give me detention.

Damn it! How had she missed again? She was a Chaser, she was supposed to be able to send a ball where it needed to go. The ball that she had thrown hadn't even come close to the Gryffindor boy! So she could easily score a goal in Quidditch, and yet here she was, looking like a fool that missed her target by three meters. Who's idea was this, anyway?

And it only got worse. She cursed again as the ground on the Ravenclaws' side split open once again. Three Eagles went plunging into the lake, including Kaegan. Not that the boy was being of much help anyway; in fact, she almost felt calmer now that he was gone. Strange.

Regardless of how she felt, though, her team was dropping like flies. This was unacceptable. Like hell she was going to lose against the lions. She knew that they could do better than this.

Looking around for a ball-- for spells were far from her forte-- she spotted two separate ones flying towards Adam. Part of her knew that this was just how the game was played, that she was certain no one was aiming at Adam with particular purpose, but she still would get revenge on the people who aimed towards her friend. Sprinting through the smoke that clouded her side of the pitch, Cecily snatched a ball off of the ground and turned to face the Gryffs, searching for the hand that had just loosed the projectile aimed at the tall boy. She knew Adam wasn't the quickest, and he would surely get hit, and there was nothing she could do to stop the flying spheres, so she'd just have to take out their throwers instead.

Spotting one Gryff watching the arc of the ball towards Adam, she knew that he had to have been the one. Taking a breath, Cecily wound her arm back, focused, and sent the ball whizzing towards the boy. If she didn't hit him-- well. To say she would be annoyed would be the understatement of the year.
ACTION: throw [Ball 4] at Max Avery.

Arc's head was not in the game. It was way up there in the cloud. There were as many thoughts within his head as the number of water droplets inside a cumulonimbus. Well. Okay, that was definitely an exaggeration, but the point was valid. Ever since Erin had told the young Prefect about the mysterious disappearance inside Hogwarts, the boy had been investigating. Her story had merit and something eerie was definitely going on. Along with all the bad things that had happened, it felt like bad clouds were brewing in the background.

And then it hit him. A spell. It hit him.

He was suddenly overcame with waves of ticklish fury. The spell tickled him like crazy and he giggled so much, it hurt. He did manage to glimpse from whom the spell had come from, though. It was one Katrina Walker, if he had remembered correctly. Another spell whizzed by, but Arc did not even realize that Xailah had also flung a spell towards him.

It took awhile before the tickle finally lessened and the dark-haired kid could fully concentrate again. This time he was more determined to be in the moment and contributed for his house. Heck, playing some dodgeball might free his mind from those scary conspiracy theories. But before he could do anything, his surrounding was suddenly filled with a cloud of smoke. His accuracy would certainly drop, but he could still discern the enemy on the other side of the field. One of the girl in the Gryffindor team that was pretty close to him chucked a ball at Cecily, but he was not sure who she was. Hm. Attacking her might help his team somewhat. Anything was better than doing nothing, really.

"Bullarem Immortalem." Arc chanted as he aimed at the young girl.

Gryffindor was on the offense now and they had found their target: @Katrina Walker and @Max Avery were gunning for @Adam Harringtom, whose calming presence had been felt all over the Ravenclaw side of the field and maybe even saved some of his teammates from an early knockout. Taking the offense Adam however tried to take some of the opposition some partially out of the game by muting them, but while is spell was strong it wasn't too accurate. One bolt of blue light hit the ground beside unsuspecting @Euphrasia Millie, while the other hit Max in the shoulder just as the Gryffindor had thrown [Ball 3] at the Ravenclaw boy.

Adam unfortunately wasn't as proficient at dodging as he had been in supporting his teammates, and the Ball hit him right in the chest. The translucent floor beneath his floor started to creak when - adding insult to injury - Katrina's throw of [Ball 1] hit his side. The on-ice splintered beneath the Ravenclaw's feet immediately after and he got a closer up view of the Great Lake than he might have liked.

Covered by the distraction that was the splendid double hit on Adam, @Cecily Quinn would have had every chance of hitting Max with  [Ball 4], but she was unlucky and the muted boy turned just an instant before her shot would have taken him out. He would stay on the field for another round it seemed. @Dymphna Teague must have had some of the same idea, but her throw of [Ball 6] was completely uncalculated and hit the empty ground on the left of the field harmlessly.

@Euphrasia Millie in turn used the general confusion on the playing field wisely. Aiming for their opponent's side of the pitch she cast a wonderful Smokescreen Spell and was fortunate enough that the winds were coming from her back at that particular moment. The dark cloud of smoke was blown right towards a group of Ravenclaw's clustered around where Adam had been standing a moment before. @Arc Perscivious, @Neculai Lazar and @Dymphna Teague had nowhere to run when it descended on them.

Not all of them noticed their impending doom anyway, as @Arc Perscivious was busy casting a charm of his own in the direction of @Adrian Calhoun, who only had eyes for Cecily at the time. Both their efforts were rewarded: Arc hit the Gryffindor girl with a well-aimed Buble-Producing Charm, but not before she had thrown [Ball 2] at the unsuspecting Cecily. It grazed her arm, but that was enough in this game: a touch was the difference between in and out.

A crack, another and then the formerly solid ground beneath the Ravenclaw shattered, leaving her to drop straight down into the water. Elaine was by her side only a moment later, first pulling the sodden girl into her small boat before she moved it over towards Adam, collecting the boy as well. A bundle of blankets and some hot cocoa was waiting for them at the shore.

Meanwhile there was another standoff happening on the field. @Phaedra Stavrou and @Xailah Alptraum were out to get each other, and they were armed. Phaedra had [Ball 5] in her possession while Xailaha had her wand. They acted at the same, Phedra throwing and Xailah casting a Spongify, but both were in vain as they missed their target by quite a bit.

The action had cooled down a bit, and some students were standing at the sides of the playing field, maybe catching their breaths, maybe bored, maybe afraid of falling into the Great Lake and making acquaintance with the Giant Squid (@Tatiana Crane, @Lavinia Cloven, @Neculai Lazar, @Victoria McGregor,, @Marla Quinlan, @Eris Fawley, @Alan Vanes, @Maggie Parker and @Edward MacHugh).
