The Garden of Eden Spring Ball 2025

Adam got tired of dancing by himself and decided to stop after all of that pretending to dance with a ghost. There was no actual ghost there and he just laughed at himself while running a hand through his face. "Ahh man, that gets boring real quick." he'd sigh at himself and walk around to peruse the all of the goodies displayed, there was just so much to eat he didn't know what to try first. But thought better of it to stuff his face, he wanted to seem respectable in some way. So he didn't eat any of the treats displayed.

He heard someone say a flower crown and his attention, he hadn't seen someone make a flower crown in person before and he'd like to learn how by watching them. It'd be nice to do and a great way to make friends is by interacting through speaking to people. He can't expect to make any friends just dancing by himself after all. So he walked over with a bounce to his step. He was a cheerful person and always in a good mood unless someone soured it in some unique way.

"Hey I heard someone was making a flower crown?" he looked at isadora's hands and yep, there it was a flower crown. "Beautiful. I've never seen one made in person before, usually just see the end product." he'd smile brightly and wave "Hi! I'm Adam Boucher, it's nice to meet you two." He'd chuckle and then ask his next question. "Do you mind if I learn from you how to make a flower crown? I've always wanted to learn how just never got around to doing it. Lack of flowers I like in my hometown." He'd explain with some disappointment in his tone but nonetheless he was cheerful with his approach.

11 April - the evening of the Spring Soirée

Image posted by the member ngelFyre slaked her thirst with a few sips of the pomegranate juice and happily discovered, both to her and Simon's great relief, she appeared to be suffering no ill effects that either could detect. Well, okay then! Maybe this Spring Soirée was going to reflect the relative peace and beauty of their first ball together after all.

They then spent the next few minutes giggling and laughing and bantering while filling out their dance cards as if neither had a care in the world. In those moments they did not. She was ecstatic that he liked the idea of using their nicknames, but then it hit her that what would make her dance card even more perfect was if it were filled out by Simon himself. She had decided the moment she saw it after it had been handed to her that it would be going into her memory journal. Seeing her own penmanship upon it years later, though altogether lovely, would just not be nearly as romantic as reading it in Simon's own hand. Plus, it lessened pressure on him to come up with nicknames for her on the spot.

She well knew why he did not have as many for her, and honestly, she was more than thrilled that he did not. Few people, her own mother included, had rarely ever called her by her given name when growing up, but the notable exceptions were her father and Grandma Ruth, her two most favorite people in the world... before Simon entered it. To have learned on the spot when meeting Simon that he not only thought AngelFyre was a beautiful name, but further wished to not use her standard offer of "But you can call me AF. Almost everyone does," actually played over and over again in her mind when they had parted that very first evening. No one her age had ever balked at that offer before, and the confusion on his face when he told her he thought it was a beautiful name, and then asked if she liked her name, took her altogether by surprise. When it fully dawned on her what he was asking, she, a little too forcefully, no doubt, sputtered out that he could call her AngelFyre if he wished. She had never had call to make such an offer before, and her eagerness to have him do so embarrassed her in the moment. Simon never knew it, but the first time she heard him say her name was the most beautiful it had ever sounded to her. In fact, she would be happy to have it never again pass anyone's lips but his.

Simon was a standout so early on and for so many reasons, but that was the first one for sure.

So, it was a unilateral decision she made right there on the spot to have them fill out the other's card, and she surprised him a little by reaching for his card, saying nothing at first. She smiled as she could feel his eyes upon her, but she scratched out "AngelFyre" on the first line, and lifted her head, eyes twinkling as she met his honeyed, brown sugar gaze. "What say ye? I shall mark thy dance card an' thou canst mark thy own in return?" He kept a lock on their gaze just briefly before a smile turned up the corners of his mouth and he reached for hers, wasting little time in filling in the first line on her card.

She was peeking over his shoulder and had to chuckle a little as he used his given and surname on the first line. This was a topic they had been playfully jousting over for years, and it truly tickled her funnybone. "By the holy saints! Verily, my lord, thou hast gladdened thy lady's heart an' stay'd clear the muddle in thy own flittery ruminations o'er which Simon I wouldst first step lively by markin' thy surname! I thank thee, truly, for thy abundant thoughtfulness on such a matter of extreme befuddlement." Her sarcasm was thick amidst her good-natured teasing, but he just turned his head and gave a stone-faced, regal half nod before busting out that should-be-patented-Simon-smile of his.

The rest of the lines were filled in, each nickname finding a comfortable counterpart, but there was one glaring omission from the list, and it made her a little sad that it did not make the cut. She had so many for him, but one of her very favorites was "Mav", an abbreviated version for her Top Gun, "Maverick". She knew he would be tempted to add it to her card, but then she would have to think of a worthy counterpart. Iceman? No. Goose? Definitely not! Sugar Puff to his Count Chocula she could tolerate, but never Goose. "Ye mayest best refrain from scripting 'Maverick', milord, as I wouldst most need to pen 'Goose' in kind. If thy goodly lord doth recall, I told thee long since thou shan't be rid of me ere thy tale be done!" Her eyes were dancing with merriment as she leaned closer to him, but her tone took on a conspiratorial one as she nodded, directing his attention to the ever expanding crowd in the garden.

"Lo, behold yonder throng! Why, there be nary a soul in sight but wouldst not gladly feast upon a goose at their next repast. Dare I beseech thee? 'Twould be an act of mercy... nay, heroism... to spare thy lady such a fate!" He just shook his head and grinned lovingly at her like she was a different kind of bird... probably a loon... and put "Golden Boy" down in its place.

Whew! Crisis averted.

They finished filling in the rest of the spaces and after he sweetly, but accidentally, turned off their Binding Mark by softly whispering 'Beshert', they were all set to make merry and step lively upon the dance floor as the soft, cotton candy colors of the sky were melding seamlessly into the darker magentas and purples and blues of a protective, shadowy cloak bedecked with stars.

Simon guided her out smoothly to the dance floor, which was not entirely filled at that point, but it was still early. There were a few people already dancing, but neither really noticed. The music was a jaunty piece. It was a perfect tempo to begin their evening as it was a tease of sorts, serving to amplify their laughter and facial expressions which delighted the other as they would come together gleefully and then feign disappointment at so quickly having to separate; sometimes circling around one another, and other times being spun out and away.

It was a lengthy piece, which was all good, but when it ended, they were both ready for a bit of a break. Her gallant lad bowed and kissed the back of her hand, which earned him a starry-eyed gaze and a maiden's blush that was not flushing her cheeks due to exertion. Forgoing the Medieval/Shakespearean word salad for a moment, AngelFyre stated in all honesty, "I love starting off dances with that kind of energy because they roil up the anticipation for the other dances that will allow us to simmer, stirring up all kinds of ravenous appetites." Simon arched his eyebrow at her, reaching that impossibly high angle he was always able to attain, and then he chuckled while nodding in agreement, casting a sideways glance at her before squeezing her hand three times.

Deciding to focus on the s l o w build up to the roiling boil, he proclaimed that what she needed was a crown and a floral one at that. He went one step farther and further proclaimed that there would be a royal crowning ceremony. Oh! Fun! They had opted to make masks instead of crowns at their first Ball, so this would be a nice switch. There was not a crafting station this time around like there had been before, but Simon was not deterred. He walked her over to where the pathway was edged with flowers of all kinds, both in and out of pots. He explained what they would need and so she began to look for reedy plants to form her crown’s frame.

Finding what she needed fairly quickly, she set about to follow his lead. She sat as patiently as she could as he measured her head for her crown, but she did not sit still, thereby making his job unnecessarily, but purposefully, harder. Her fingers just did not particularly wish to be playing with flower stems in the moment, so she decided to allow them to play with Simon instead. They took a slow walk up and along his sides, tapping every once in a while with a threat the promise of an unleashed tickle fest. She was not going to tickle him, not now anyway, but he did not that know that for certain. The joke ended up being on her when her breath involuntarily caught in her throat at the feel of his taut frame beneath the fabric of his tunic. When she finally did make a sound, it was a barely audible moan. Barely audible to anyone else around them but Simon, that is. He stopped his measuring and lifted her chin to look up as he lowered to press his lips sweetly against hers, biting and tugging on her bottom one gently when he finally pulled away.

Guess dances were not the only things to whet one’s appetite at these functions. Sigh

“Hark, fair lad. 'Tis my hour now. Lower thyself so I may take true measure of thy humbleness. Should measuring thy noggin be the gauge of thy humility, I should be finished swift as a wink. 'Twould be akin to crafting a crown for the tiniest dome 'mongst men in all the realm. Imagine yon Beetlejuice's head at the tale's end. The lesser the head, the greater the humility, methinks." She smiled brightly at him as they switched places and he took a seat so that she could measure his head for his crown.

She got what she needed, and though her fellow's head was not walnut sized, thank God, she knew the worth of the young man sitting before her. Still, she had to tease him.

Pretending to have to add more and more reeds to fit around his overly inflated head, she finally told him, “Aye, 'tis spindly 'gainst a dragon's 'tis true, but bigger than a dwarf's. Thy lady is well and good taken aback," and she let out a long whistle of astonishment. "Methinks 'tis not a sign of thy boastful pride. Nay. Likely 'tis from thy fine mane of thick, fair locks. Verily, I am gladdened to know thou canst pass through a single door and need not swing wide two."

When finished with her nonsense, she leaned over and pressed her lips to his very humble self, and proceeded to listen as he explained how to go about actually making the crown. It was easier, and more relaxing, than she imagined it would be, and she was quite pleased with her end result, though she did every now and again warn him not to peek. Not that he would have.

Once they were both finished, Simon announced that it was time for "The Anointing Beneath a Thousand Blossoms" ceremony. He pointed to a beautiful alcove in the distance with what looked to AngelFyre like faerie lights hanging from the branches. Her heart started pumping with excitement. "How wondrous and fair a place be that, my lord," she said in awe as she offered him her free arm while holding his floral crown in her other and out of his line of sight.

Out of the corner of her eye, she became somewhat aware that Colin was being dragged to and fro to every flower pot on the Grounds as she heard Emily euphorically sharing her impressive knowledge of each and every flower seemingly in existence. She smiled deeply, knowing that her friend's truest and best happiness was standing, unawares, by his side at that very moment. AngelFyre had known it since Christmas break, and Colin now knew it, too. Emily would get there. Everything in its own time.

Turning to her very own heart's truest and best happiness, AngelFyre felt full of gratitude for the beautiful evening, her friends, and for the boy she loved. "Come," she whispered. "Let us tread yonder path as one."

He brought out his arm for her to wrap her own around his and he escorted her off - down yonder path to that natural alcove created by the trees where the sparkling lights mimicked the stars in the heavens. Honestly, even for being there at Hogwarts, at a school of magic, it was magic beyond the magic.

Once there, standing before the beautiful backdrop, he eased his hand down and stepped back, half presenting himself into a bow in respect to her - his fairy princess, his beautiful girlfriend, his reason-why-life-was-so-much-richer, his everything.

"My dearest, light of my life," he spoke, still in character as this fairy prince ready to declare his fairy princess, but also speaking as Simon Ezra Kincaid to AngelFyre Afton McCubbin. "Words, how they fail me when I try to capture the immensity of love I hold for thee. Impossible - like attempts to bottle sunlight or hold a whisper in thy palm. I must try as my heart insists upon it and silence would only be a disservice to you, my love."

"You, brilliant you, are everything I could ever dream of and so much more that I have ever dared to imagine. You are my sun, my moon, and all of my stars," he quoted E.E. Cummings on that last part. "But alas, I shall not exhibit selfishness and I shall share thee with the spirits and guardians, the creatures of Earth and all who inhabit the Heavens in love and in light."

He took the floral crown he had crafted and knelt down, now on his knees and lifted it up towards her and glanced up, smiling that million dollar smile he knew he had. "In your kindness the forest thrives. In your laughter, rivers dance. In your very core being, you restore harmony to those around you."

"With heart and soul, I anoint you." He stood, stepping closer to her, leaning down to gently grace a kiss upon her forehead.

He now held the crown directly above her head, positioned perfectly so but inches above actually resting upon it. "With this crown I name thee.... keeper of joy, bringer of peace. Dear fairy, my princess, may your reign be gentle and wild and wise. Let love root deep, let peace bloom wide, let the thousand blossoms remember this night."

He slowly placed the crown down and rested it upon her hair.

With this crowning ceremony now complete, he led his newly proclaimed fairy princess back to where the festivities were happening within the Garden of Eden. It was time for a toast - and they had more dances to attend to!

Simon picked up two glasses of the apple juice and handed one to her. "To you, my new princess. I shall like to honor this moment and shall raise my heart, raise my glass and raise my voice. It is with an open heart and joyful spirit that I welcome thee into the kingdom."

When his toast was done, and hers if she should add anything, he would tap his glass to her own gently before downing the contents of the apple juice - finding it a little more refreshing than what he remembered apple juice to taste like.

Siobhan held Toaster gently in her arms as the chubby kitten gave her an affectionate headbump against her collarbone as if to say "please don't cry- I'm here now." She sniffled softly to herself, feeling increasingly more pathetic as she could feel the tension between her and Prat growing heavier and sadder. She listened as Prat tried to be reassuring to her and as he asked about getting her condition treated by St. Mungo's healers. She simply gave him a sad smile and shake of her head.

The healers had tried, valiantly, but there wasn't much more they could do besides watch the deterioration work at its slowed rate. Despite magic being magical, somethings were meand to be and this was one of them.

The two of them had sat in silence for a few moments. And Prat had told her the sky looked beautiful, so she gently sighed with a soft 'thank you' muttered under her breath. Good. What a beautiful site for a beautiful evening. She was happy that he was sitting with her and not running off like she had expected him too. It made her feel that maybe someone would remain in her corner while she bore this new found lifestyle. It certainly was more convincing than what... other people... had been showcasing to her.

Toaster let out a soft chirp as he pawed at the grass around Siobhan with his foot, indicating he wanted to be put down for a moment. The obedient cat merely curled up next to Siobhan's leg protectively when she placed him down as Prat held out a cup of water for her. Odd, she hadn't noticed he had moved away from her. Well... she probably wouldn't have even if he had announced it.

She gratefully accepted the water he had handed her. It was cool and crisp against her throat as she sipped it. Was water always so refreshing? Or was she just learning to be grateful for the senses she still had.

When Prat suggested getting some fresh air along a balcony, she was inclined to nod. Despite being a garden, she felt overly stuffy from the heat and buzz of those around her and Prat. This was far more odd to her. She had never felt unease or uncomfortability in a garden before. She looked at -or rather towards- Prat.

"I would like that... But I don't want you to leave because of me. I would feel remorseful to have pulled you away from something fun." She explained with seriousness. But it seemed that he was serious and he was nothing if not half a liar. He had always been a persistant pain in her side, but this kinder side of him was rather appealing to her in terms of friendship.

Before they left, she gently unlaced her shoes and slipped them off. She wondered if maybe she felt so uncomfortable with the Garden because she was not grounded to it. As her feet sliped between the blades of grass and felt the comforting coolness of the greenery, she smiled to herself as a wave of anxiety found a way to disappate. She looked at her toes, which she had painted a sparkly pink over the past weekend with some difficulty, and sighed. There was nail varnish all over her left foot as she had not been able to paint it without struggling. But that was neither here nor there.

The grounding exercise worked and she stood up, dusted herself off and offered a hand out hopefully towards her companion. As she stood, she felt the heaviness of the armor start to bother her. If she had a chance she would ditch the breastplate she was wearing and go back to her regular white sundress. It would feel better on her shoulders and back if she was able to move more freely. She decided against putting her sneakers back on. The ground was simply too nice to remove herself from.

"Which way in the castle did you want to walk? Are we traveling to a tower or just meandering?" She asked with an attempt at a half smile. She didn't want to come across as happy they were leaving, in fact she was a little saddened. But she knew that a few minutes away from the event might do her some good.

If Prat wanted to escort her, she wouldn't turn down the help. As it grew later and later in the evening and the darkness of the absent sun continued to stretch across their side of the globe, she would need help finding her way to places such as the entrance to the castle, or the Great Hall.

11 April - the evening of the Spring Soirée

Image posted by the member nce upon a time is how the fairy tales of old began, but that gave the impression that such things were no more and therefore belonged… in the past. But right now, in this beautiful garden, on this magical evening, AngelFyre believed in the beauty of fairy tales with the wide-eyed, unjaded expectations and excitement of her younger self. She listened in rapturous awe as Simon poured his heart out to her in the most beautiful string of words she could ever remember him speaking. Each utterance a perfect pearl, and when strung together, produced the most beautiful necklace she could never really wear, but one which would adorn her soul forevermore.

He knew her so well, so he had to know that it would be a physical impossibility for her to get through the ceremony without her eyes welling with tears… and they did… but they were the happiest of tears and they did not spill over. She was a little surprised by that Herculean feat, but that thought crossed her mind much later. Right then, she was just too much in the moment with him, basking in all of it.

After he kissed her forehead and placed the crown he had made on her head, she simply stared at him for a short time. Her first words in reply to him were through their binding mark, and while she did not necessarily intend for them to be, it was likely that her voice would have cracked had she tried to speak right then. “You always thank me for the ways I see you and all the ways I love you, but Simon, thank you, mo chridhe. (my heart) I should be more quiet and let you speak more often apparently.” She took a deep breath and smiled at him, but it was the kind of smile that radiated up from her heart and out through her eyes. She then reached for his right hand with her left and squeezed it three times.

"Thou hast truly spoken wise and with beauty, my lord. The folly in striving to cork sunlight or cradle a whisper in thy palm speaketh plain as day to the boundless depths of mine love for thee in kind. Thy words do stir thine heart deeply, for I knoweth thou art no idle flatterer, but thou must likewise harken to mine own words. If I be thy sun, moon, and all thy stars, then thou must knowest… surely… that the mighty forces that spin their celestial dance and all the light that doth beam from yonder spheres doth all turn towards thee… mine greatest love… only to showcase and reflect the brilliance that shineth most radiantly within thee."

She smiled tenderly at him as she released his hand with another three I love yous and brought his floral crown to the space between them, holding it firmly with both hands. Looking squarely into his twinkling eyes, AngelFyre repeated some of his words back to him, trying to keep the order of his impromptu ceremony straight. “With heart and soul, I anoint thee,” and then she lifted the crown she had made for him above his head, holding it there as she proclaimed, “With this crown I dub thee.... Beacon of Light and Messenger of Love.”

She took this next part out of order from how Simon had gone about it, but she figured he would not mind. After naming him, she lowered her crown upon his head, careful that nothing might poke him or be the cause of discomfort to him for as long as he would wear it. When it rested where it seemed to be most comfortable for him, she stepped closer to him, closing almost all of the distance between them. Keeping her gaze locked to his, she raised her left hand and placed it over his heart and then reached for his left hand to place it over hers, keeping her hand nesting over his.

"My prince, may your reign be long and eventful and fruitful. Let kindness root deep, let love bloom wide, and yes, let the thousand blossoms remember this night” and then silently to him through their binding mark, “as I know I always shall.. my hand to your heart, my love.”

He smiled and then gently tapped his forehead to hers. With eyes closed, they both stood there, drinking in the moment of togetherness. They were sappy and they both knew it, but they did not care. It was what fed their connection and neither could, or would, ever be embarrassed about it or apologize for it.

She readjusted her crown when they broke for the feasting tables once again. Simon loved to make toasts, and she loved listening to him make them. Besides, if being crowned a faerie prince and princess did not deserve a toast, then nothing did! She graciously accepted the chalice of apple juice, and winked at him, both knowing full well this was not just apple juice. Simon was Catholic, so he had had spirits before, but not so AngelFyre. A first for her, and she was glad it was with her boy. Besides, it must be more apple juice than alcohol, since the chaperones must be expected to keep clear heads, right?

She gave him her full attention as he made his toast, and when he had finished, she replied succinctly. “Why thank you, love. It is an honor indeed to find myself in such a lovely realm and in the company of such a fair faerie prince. Cheers!” He nodded and then was in the process of lifting his chalice to his petal soft lips when a thought struck her. “Simon, remember a couple of years ago when you made another toast at a Ball and we then crossed our forearms around the other’s forearm to drink? I want to do that again,” she said eagerly. “And maybe this time we will not get bitten by a rat or by a spider.”

He happily redirected the pathway his chalice took to his lips by way of interlacing with her arm, and then they both took a drink. Well, she took a couple of sips in quick succession. Simon emptied his altogether. It burned her throat a little, but it offered a nice bit of warmth the rest of the way down. Simon seemed unperturbed by it, and it made her wonder just how familiar with drinks of this sort he may be. She thought he may only have ever had wine, but she was not certain. Maybe wine burned a little like this did?

When they disentangled their arms, he took both of their chalices and set them down. His bottom lip was glistening, and AngelFyre could not help but lean over to kiss him, suckling on the lip to get to the drop before he could. “It definitely tastes better when it comes from you,” and she giggled.

“Come on, my Handsome Hufflepuff. Your Beautiful Badger would like another dance with you, and a slow one at that. I realize it may seem improper for a newly anointed faerie princess to be the one to ask, but I have just now decided her royal name shall be Sadie Hawkins, so it is all good.”

And as Simon stood and offered her his arm once again, AngelFyre walked out to the dance floor, feeling assured her “Once upon a time” beginning was definitely going to have the standard “And they lived happily ever after” ending.

I was no stranger to the fact that Piérre often had underhanded intents when he showed one face and then turned the other towards the shadow for the purposes of presenting an alternate performance to a crowd that was often absent or hidden from the sights of what seemed to be all save for himself. Many times, such acts were innocent and innocuous: a light pickpocketing of an item from someone that he returned after using it, a white lie to conceal the identity of an object that he had been planning to give, a thinly layered joke intended to make you question if his words were legitimate or falsified. Many times, contraposedly, there were acts that had a much more disingenuous ring accompanied by less-than-altruistic ends resulting in very real consequences in which people had gotten hurt and trust had been fractured.

Piérre did not seem to understand what he was capable of doing to other people when he simply did as he desired and had nothing to choke him back--a position I had been the sole manager of thus far and that I could neither bring myself to continue or hand off to another. I rapped my fingers on the pommel of the longsword concerning these thoughts, concerning the concepts of these things and my place in them. Other than potentially keeping an eye on my twin tonight I was not expecting any other company, the Horntails had their own dates and Valentin had gotten himself locked in the Hospital Wing for another injury thanks to a broom escapade.

So when a notable shift in the smell of the immediate area transformed slightly, bending slightly into a foreign profile, I glanced out of the corner of my masque's eye at a new person who had somewhat seemed to suddenly appear beside me. She was around the same height as my brother, and from my relative altitude I had the ability to look down into the coils of thick dark brown hair. Glancing away again awkwardly, I slightly shifted my weight without moving. Another wallflower?

Her words, a tease that was in a tone familiar to me, caused me to glance down again to meet her dark eyes and impish smile. Averting my eyes for a second in awkwardness before they returned once more, I offered a small smile and chuckle. My thumb and fingers rubbed lightly on the longsword's pommel and tang. "Ah... thank you. Yes, it's... generally a good idea to keep an eye out with all the magic and mayhem these things tend to attract."

No, most likely not a wallflower. An energetic, perhaps cunning, trickster spirit.

And as for the wolf... "Slay the wolf? Perish the thought." The masque was a make of wood, after all. No, it was more of a symbolic statement. "Could I kill in cold blood the creature that mothered the founders of Rome?" A small theatricity, something I was... not especially gifted with and all told it was most likely very evident. My brother was more suited for such endeavors. "A Velite I might be, actually, but for this event a pelt seemed... excessive." A lie. Piérre was not the only one who could do such a thing.

It was my turn to query her. "And you, being dressed for a skirmish? Four hands and two swords are stronger than one. I'm Romeo, from Durmstrang."

The silvery dishes and treats of the table seemed to gain a new gleam in the steadily heightening moonlight that seemed to me to be slightly nauseating. On the wind, there were muddled scents of the humans and the foods, and of the young woman beside me. Music sparkled in the area, the dance floor tempting those to step upon it and indulge in the merriment of the evening in full.

There were impressions of eyes, but those could be ignored even if they were noted. It was best to stay prepared, ready: prepared to find and stay close to friends and allies where I could.

Violeta had never been one for religion. Of course, she knew what the Christians, the Jews, Muslims, and every other religion believed in, though she had never believed any of it. Eighter did her parents or any of her family. Perhaps her distant family or her great grandparents believed in religion, however, if they did, she would not know at all.

Her father had never told her much about her grandfather or his father, or his father's great grandfather, as her grandfather had not been much of her father's life. He was a cold, blunt and mysterious man who spent most days in his office or library or on mysterious business trips. It was as her father had not known him at all. The truth was, he hadn't. Either did the youngster. He passed when she was young, and even if he was alive or she remembered him, that would not be much. He hated anyone's company. He only tolerated his wife, as he had once liked or maybe loved her, though she passed before he did. The girl did not know much about her either, just that the two had been an arranged marriage.

If the Garden of Eden existed, the girl would know better than to eat the fruit. She would enjoy the paradise, because nothing lasts. There are times in life in which us humans are just frankly existing. Nothing with great impact is happening so it just feels like we are simply existing, or rather, living without a purpose. That was what she imagined the Garden of Eden would be like. Just existing. Every day. On and on. She would like to feel that way every day, actually, though she knew she couldn't. This was not a part of her life that she was simply existing, though there had been many, this wasn't one of them.

The girl hadn't even known what she was doing at this event. Her mother sent an old dress she had had since she was a gal which survived the fire, with a few fixes, that seemed to fit Violeta perfectly, and her hair was a bit shorter than she liked, because she accidentally cut her hair a bit way too short than she fancied, again. She seemed to sit in that corner for about a thousand years. Just aimlessly thinking and thinking.

Until that was over, and she realized what the heck she was doing. Then she started watching people, reading their lips and body language, seeing couples and friends. The Slytherin had never had many friends, and she certainly had never had a boyfriend, technically she did not want at all, what was the purpose of that anyway? She recognized some purebloods from balls, though she did not approach them, they would probably not recognize her anyway.

That was when she recognized a pureblooded boy who she had seen in maybe a ball or two when she was younger. Something seemed off about him, though she had no idea what. He was alone too, just like her, and he didn't seem to be there with any people, just like the girl.

The brunette decided to approach him, though she wouldn't say anything at all at first, he wouldn't recognize her, still she decided to do so. She came by and stood next to him. Staying silent and just observing, one of her secret talents.

Once, Archer had held enough trust for his contemporaries to enjoy to company in silence. That night on the astronomy tower, with a girl whose name was never revealed to him, more enigma than human, they had met brushing shoulders, and begun their chance encounter in complete wordlessness. With both of them finding company in the stars, neither of them speaking, and both trusting each other, though merely arbitrary strangers with sharing gripes on life and death. To talk could have been one of two things: one, curiosity, which, for the genuine, innocent little Archer in September, seemed to have been the case, or, two, mistrust, for to keep quiet in silent understanding breeched his walls.

Always nimble and quick to react, muscles tensed with vigilance, Archer, prickly with over-attentiveness, did not take well to the sudden introduction of a new figure amongst the fray. Jumpy, his brows etching lines into his forehead, he took a step away from the brunette approaching him, backing up against the vines and greenery. His actions showed no fear, each one precise and calculated as a move in chess or a statistical number noted down for a report. Mere displeasure was all there was, as if he had just awoken from a slumber to the disruption loudly chirping songbirds, not for the girl he did not recognise but the bare notion of another social interaction when he could have had his nose in a book or eyes fixed on a training puppet.

Archer had always been one to watch, yet the skill he was yet to master was not to merely note down physical appearances for his next interaction but the inner psyche of his observee. For that had always been the nature of his craft, to identify, to remember, and then to save for future use, just as his mother had once taught him which plants were edible and which fatal, which stars would lead you home and which astray, which people you could trust and which would leave you in betrayal. He once thought the world was simple as the words his maman had put them in yet as he continued to embark further into the abysses of human existence he found the challenges rising like seawater at high tide, the last of her list proving to be of particular difficulty.

A lanky teenager with dark brown hair and an antique dress, she had at least payed more attention to the dress code than Archer cared to, in clothes no different than his usual kit. Hair in princess curls — perhaps, Archer was not about to pretend he understood to many ways to style hair, his self-cut and shaggy — he certainly did not look like a poisonous mushroom. Though of course, some of the most lethal fungi looked no different from their edible counterparts.

Raising a curious brow as she edged only closer to him, approaching despite the act being entirely unsolicited, yet did not speak at all, Archer broke the silence without much emotion nor animation in his tone, a simple statement with monotony, “Are you certain it is I whom you seek?

Or, in the other words, the polite way of demanding: what the hell do you want?

WC 380/200 Color Legend - Mylo | Thoughts

Mylo was glad they were on their way to the grounds and that they hadn't decided to go to the Great Hall which was currently blasting medieval music which he somehow could still hear even though they were on the grounds and not in the castle itself, which was actually quite impressive. Mylo truly hoped that everyone had some kind of ear protection, magical or not, or that magic could heal hearing damage, which at this point wouldn't surprise him if that was actually possible, maybe he should do some research into that.

Getting further away from the castle the music from the garden started to become more prevalent, which it was a lot more pleasant to the ears, or at least to Mylo's, and they found themselves looking forward to spending some time with their friends in peace. Knowing that they likely wouldn't have attended had they not convinced him that it would be fun.

They had also convinced them to wear the costume they currently were dressed in, and for that he was also grateful as he had to admit that it looked good. The make-up, which Avis had told them she could do and ended up being redone by Maisie in an attempt to not have Mylo attend the ball looking like a racoon, being the finishing touch as it somehow didn't look to over the top but still added a lot to the final presentation.

As they entered the gardens he got given a dance card, which they tactically and carefully shoved into their pocket not wanting to embarrass themselves with their lack of dancing skills. They already had to keep convincing themselves that the look they had was not over the top, adding dancing into the mix would make for a very quick escape back to their dorms.

But looking around their breath was taken away, their usual escape having been decorated with lights and flower, making the place look absolutely magical. And seeing the table decorated with delicious looking food Mylo couldn't help themselves but take a few grapes, wanting to wait a little longer to have some substantial food until they saw their friends.

Looking around Mylo tried seeing if they could spot any of them already or if they hadn't arrived yet.

The Garden of Eden Spring Ball 2025
MODERATION POST — ROUND 2.
Image posted by the member
Image generated by AI.
Once a fruitful garden, the Garden of Eden has become a lovers paradise. The vast participants swiftly ascending to the center stone tiles and engrossing themselves in not only their partner, but the alluring assortments of flowers, few patrons beginning to create flower crowns. One would assume the gesture would not indicate profound desires to rule over the Highlands, as time continues to transcend, as does the evening. The delightful sun successfully completed its ascent into rest, with the moonlight illuminating down on all those participating, it's Waxing Gibbous phase signifying something more sinister that some students wish to exclude from conversations this evening.

As the bard hymns continue to play, swiftly transitioning to a slightly more up-beat tune, candles spark aflame, adding further ambiance to the darkened garden. Fireflies hidden away in branches of the surrounding trees aiding the assorted candles scattered around in lanterns, adding further luminance and truly transforming the atmosphere from the Garden of Dreams during the day, into a garden party in the night, perfect for the most noble aristocrats who gathered from all institutes. Though very few truly are mingling, choosing to surround themselves with familiar faces, words begin to develop on each respective dance card, reserving a spot for those who have not filled their cards, even if it was with one person. Engraved neatly in cursive writing, one spot writes:

Seek another for a dance.

Urging the patrons to not only extend curtesies with unfamiliar faces, but to strengthen allyship and create stronger unions with the patrons of different kingdoms, who've travelled long and far to be in attendance this evening. Perhaps the invitation suggests merely extending acquaintances with others, urging them to deduce the prying eyes that hid behind the bushes. Yet, with the increase of footsteps and few patrons engaging in dance, the creatures scurried away, desiring nothing less than being caught.

Despite one particular couple believing to truly be back in time, their apple juice which was believed to be alcoholic, in essence, was not. Merely a human error due to the bubbles visible within the drink, accredited to sparkling water which slightly soured the taste of the drink, despite the notes of blackberry. Yet, the bubbles which would fizz on the tip of their tongue, fortunately contributed to a light buzz in their moods, making them bounce for for a few hymns. After all, sparkling drinks are a foreign concept, particularly given the transcendence back into time.

Permission granted by CoCM professor @Akeem Toussaint for the inclusion of a creature(s) lurking in the forest nearby, the creatures have now left the grounds.

ROLLS:

Garden of Eden — round two moderation.

@Simon Kincaid drinks apple juice, 50% chance of being spiked [1-5].
[d10 : 8] = 8, Simon's drink was not spiked.
Due to 'sparkling' included in the apple juice, Simon would feel buzzed/happy. [duration: 1-2: one round, 3: two rounds.]
[d3: 1] = 1, lasts for one round.

@AngelFyre McCubbin drinks apple juice, 50% chance of being spiked [1-5].
[d10 : 6] = 6, AngelFyre's drink was not spiked.
Due to 'sparkling' included in the apple juice, AngelFyre would feel buzzed/happy. [duration: 1-2: one round, 3: two rounds.]
[d3: 2] = 2, lasts for one round.

Both drinks have not been spiked, however, due to the sparkling element of the juice, there is an effect for drinking that drink.

Please let me know if anything has been missed.
Dance Cards

Upon entrance into The Garden of Eden, each player will receive a "dance card", a RP opportunity for players to engage with. Within the dance card, names of whom your character dances with must be recorded, beware of prying eyes should their names not be found within the dance card and they are dancing with your player, as this would be the most scandalous thing to do.

NOTE: The inclusion of dance cards is solely for a RP opportunity, you are not obliged to comply with this, but should you mention it, please ensure the character your character dances with, was included in the dance card.
