Cirrus sat up streching his arms before him like a zombie, letting out a large mindless groan that sounded like the undead from the Frankenstein Movies. He let his left hand fall sloppily unto the alarm beside his bed quickly, he stretched, his back letting out a satisfying crack. The boy caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror, his dark coffee hair looking as if he had been zapped by lightning or at the very least he looked like Albert Einstein with a better hairline of course.

Cirrus sat in bed with a small slouch, letting his eyes close for a moment, absorbing the space around him as he let his mind catch up with his body. He shook his head lightly slapping his face as he beckoned himself further wake up. Cirrus then slipped on his monkey slippers as he did his morning routine, which usually consisted of: Washing himself up, hygiene, eating any fruit he took from the great hall the previous night, making a checklist of what he needed to do throughout the day, hanging out with Gekko, talking to mutuals, and observing people.

At least that's what his days usually consisted of, as today he had a new edition to his collection of daily tasks, Cirrus had applied for a healer internship which meant he had a whole new material study and do homework for. Well more specifically he had to choose an ailment from a list of prompts, study it, and create a presentation based on his research. Simple enough concept, or so it seemed until the boy found himself clutching his head, his brow furrowed, and his mouth twisted in upmost confusion as he sat reading.

The Hufflepuff had chosen the topic of spattergroit, it was definitely nothing close to a boring topic, and he found himself quite enjoying the enlightenment of wizard disease. But rather, the idea of the ACTUAL project was taunting above all else, but luckily he had found out that one of his friends, or an acquaintance? Cirrus couldn't quite tell whether or not they were close enough to be called friends, at the given moment, as the two had scarcely spoke really, mostly having fused friend groups rather. But most likely, and hopefully, they would be friends after this project. Yes! Alyss Gilmour was also a part of the healer internship and they had agreed to work together. This made it all more bearable for the young boy, also another opinion was always good for this sort of work. Peer review.

Furthermore, this was extremely important due to the fact that he was creatively challenged with his hands, all his more hands on projects looking more like mounds than actual structures; all despite the fact that he was ambidextrous and his mother was a literal art teacher, none of the talent had rubbed off on him in that sense. Instead, he usually opted for more of what his father would do, a professional and informational summary for a report. The days of writing drafts, organizing, and getting peer reviewed took a whole week before his speech was close to what he found to be an acceptable standard. That was his usual process, he was hoping that, due to this collaboration, he could expand his knowledge and processes for the better.

Cirrus, after sitting looking over his stacks of books and journals upon the contagious fungal illness, awaited the arrival of his classmate Alyss. Alyss was what his grandfather liked to call, an upstanding citizen, she was smart, kind, friendly, and obviously responsible, based on Cirrus's knowledge, and if he could remember properly, the slytherin had been nominated to Broom Racing Captain.

Maybe I should congratulate her? But what if he had the facts wrong? that would be embarrassing. If she was, like he was led to believe through talk around the castle, maybe they could talk about that too, outside the project of course, as Cirrus had found himself growing a particular interest within the field of sport. Next year. He promised.

The Hufflepuff let his mind wander as his honey eyes gazed out the window, a nice afternoon stream of light wafting through the glass. Cirrus had his chin propped on his hand, the boy's face was serious as if he was in deep thought...

Library
“English”
“Gaelic”
The library always offered a calm and relaxing environment when one was working, studying, or simply existing. This was a fact that Alyss was always prepared to defend, especially when it came to being productive. While in her own dorm room, she was likely to go off task somehow, either by her own volition or not. It continuously occurred, causing for quite a few assignments for History of Magic and Transfiguration to be turned in a bit haphazardly, with smudges, cat fur, and most definitely only half the answers filled in. This is where the library helped, because for the most part, Alyss stuck to her work while up there, not wanting to waste time she could be using to have fun and frolic with friends. So, after it was clear that she wasn’t always the most fantastic student, why did she choose to join the Healers Internship? Well, it was relatively simple, as Alyss is a simple girl: Helping people, especially via magic, was probably one of the coolest things to brag about. I mean imagine telling someone that you knew how to mend a bone with a flick of your wand? That had to sound super awesome. And so it was, with Alyss signing up and joining a study group with someone she vaguely knew: Cirrus Nam.

Although she would occasionally mix names with faces, she remembered who Cirrus was, for no apparent reason. He was of course a kind and generous person, as Alyss would hope the people she hung out with were. But other than that, she really didn’t know him all too well, which wasn’t really a problem in her book. She was allowed to have friends she somewhat knew, and friends she knew like a second family. As of right now, Cirrus was someone she only somewhat knew, but who knows, perhaps this study time could bring the two of them closer together.

Alyss strolled in the library, satchel in hand and soft smile gleaming upon her face. That smile quickly faltered when she remembered just how large the library was, and the downside of only somewhat knowing Cirrus was her inability to recognize him in a crowded room. When at last her eyes landed on the boy, she let out a soft sigh of relief, pushing down the buildup of slight panic that had been pushing it’s way to form a lump in the throat. “Hi Cirrus! How’re you?” Alyss questioned as she approached, beginning to set her bag down and eventually reveal a couple books and a slightly crumpled page that she had attempted to fold but had unfortunately ended up being crushed. Upon realizing this in her dorm, Alyss had painstakingly placed a couple heavy books on top of the page overnight and flipped the paper every few hours, all in hopes of flattening the page back out again. It happened to work well enough, however the creases that had been spread across the parchment were still very much visible, albeit… flatter.

“I wrote a page and a half for an essay, I know the older kids can write more, but I didn’t want to. Do you think that’s alright?” Alyss began their conversation, replacing her wand into her bag after pulling it out to rummage around for another few moments before pulling out her quill. Perhaps she appeared to be a pulled together and organized person, but Alyss really wasn’t. She claimed it to be organized chaos, but very few people other than her could actually find any of Alyss’ belongings in her bag.

“How’s your project coming along? I know we both agreed to to spattergroit to better review each others work, but what kind of project did you decide on?” It would have been a good move to begin on editing her essay, but Alyss frankly… didn’t feel like it. Instead, doodles of various springtime flowers appeared on the edge of the page, careful not to cover any of the words. Alyss would not be redoing this essay, even if it meant she had to actually contain herself.

Cirrus ears perked up slightly as he straightened up, pulling himself out of his abyss of thoughts, looking to the direction in which the voice seemed to emit from. Cirrus immediately broke into a smile, his large almond eyes following as the girl sat down at the table placing down her bag. He let a shrug wash over him in response to the Slytherin girl's polite greeting and question.

"Hey aylss! it's gang guid, juist tirit an canae wait tae be free from this project! hou aboot ye?" The boy said his voice straining slightly as he stretched his arms above his head, before letting himself lean back into the seat.

Cirrus tilted his head almost expectantly as the blonde started to prepare her workspace, in particular the couple pieces of crumpled paper caught the boy's eye, he inferred by context clues that it was most likely Alyss's project for the presentation.

“I wrote a page and a half for an essay, I know the older kids can write more, but I didn’t want to. Do you think that’s alright?" The girl spoke while rummaging for her quill in what seemed like a bottomless satchel, was there such thing like that in the wizarding world? He wouldn't be half-surprised if there was such a thing, it was just like the movie he watched as a small child, Mary Poppins.

"A think thon shoud be guid, as long as ye hit the main points, an dae ye really think sae?" Cirrus thoughtfully tapped his chin, before rubbing the back of his neck with almost confused expression on his face. "A wrote a couple pages ower, but A'v been considerin tae dae somethin besides a speech. Juist tae push myself, A wis thinkin aboot a visual representation o the disease?"

He paused for a moment as he watched the girl start to, what he believed to be, edit her essay, wow she really is a hard worker... Cirrus couldn't help but admire her diligence, he couldn't help but pucker his lips and furrow his eyebrows in jealousy, how did she make it look so easy? Cirrus looked down pinching the end of his quill, flattening it so it looked more like a skinny spike rather than a fluffy feather.

"A wis thinkin aboot thae medical anatomy models thon they use i lessons, an wis thinkin aboot usin it tae showcase the effects spattergroit have maybe?" The mousy haired boy said looking up from the corner of his eyes almost for approval.

"But A wasnae sure gin thon'd be ower difficult, an A dinnae e'en know hou A wad get ma hands on a figure let alone destroy it for a project.... What about you?"

Cirrus said before picking up his quill and beginning to make revisions on his paper. "does i order tae sound better than tae dae this?"

Questions like this continued for the next 15 minutes created what he hopefully thought could be the last draft and good enough for his speech.

"hou is yours comin along?"

Hey Aylss! It's going good, just tired and can't wait to be free from this project! How about you?

I think that should be good, as long as you hit the main points, and do you really think so?

I wrote a couple pages too, but I've been considering to do something besides a speech. Just to push myself, I was thinking about a visual representation of the disease?

I was thinking about those medical anatomy models that they use in lessons, and was thinking about using it to showcase the effects spattergroit have maybe?

But I wasn't sure if that'd be too difficult, and I don't even know how I would get my hands on a figure let alone destroy it for a project.

Does In order to sound better than to do this?

How is yours coming along?
