Come the weekend time, the Vipress never was in such a rush to doff the silk garbs that clung to her skin before bedtime. Having a new dormmate who wasn't the super posh and priss type either, Remedy was able to lounge a tad longer in her pajamas without judgment would be a blessing in disguise. Such privilege would be most appreciated on this day; the Slytherin found herself sleeping in a few extra hours after the exciting Spring Soiree the day before and smiling a bit more to herself as she reminisced about how she and Atlas Anderson danced and chatted the night away.

It was odd, this little budding friendship, especially with a certain type of blooded individual who Remedy had once been told to despise, to avoid; yet out from under Avery Leveret's wing and tutelage, did Remedy finally feel as if she were soaring to new heights in Hogwarts. The high was short-lived at best, though, as the lingering doubt oftentimes reared its ugly head in the deep recesses of her mind. Inside was a fear of upsetting her cousin Avery, her family, Ulysses, as well as trusting most new faces with the possibility they cohorted with Finn's mentioned adversaries─the Athanatos line, but anxiety would slowly but surely wane over time with the more time invested in Atlas' company and certain vices that allowed Remedy to temporary forget Finnegan's warning or the creepy doll that occupied (and destroyed) her dorm.

Any excuse given by professors and prefects to vacate her dormitory for a short while was a good one, and this go-around was a "Pajama Party." Muggles came up with the most absurd activities for merriment, but her friends and Atlas would be there, and so would she.

Laughter would bellow outside of the mahogany grand ballroom doors as the Vipress neared in her set of silk black pajamas adorned with red and orange hibiscus flowers, a banner hung on one of the ballroom’s walls that read “Happy National PJ Day!” greeted her line of sight before anyone else. A quick once-over, and Remedy located a bonnet-wearing Atlas alongside Prat, Siobhan, and then Clark.

"Not this guy [Clark] again," she sourly muttered under her breath despite the friendly smile that wore her features upon her approach, "Hey guys, what are we scheming over here?"

It took all the strength the girl had not to say something callous upon greeting Clark, the goblin's missing muzzle and lack of obedience training, or any other remark from their ill-fated meeting in the dungeons when Clark had accosted her blood and landed a swift kick in Avery's jewels. Remaining poised despite the smugness within, the Slytherin wore a polite smile as she stood beside Atlas, though curiosity tugged at her upon seeing the scars around Siobhan's eyes─this, too, would be yet another thing Remedy remained silent on.

𝓟adding through the ballroom, listening to the patters of her shoes against the ground (Ruth had unfortunately not thought of bringing slippers over to Hogwarts), Ruth clutched her pillow, a lazy smile on her face. It was somewhat late, presumably past the time she should have been in bed. And honestly, Ruth was exhausted. Yesterday's ball had rendered her legs into aching mechanisms that dragged across stone floors, but the exhilarating rush from yesterday was still present and painted her cheeks rosy whenever she thought about it.

She did wish she hadn't worn those beautiful shoes to the ball though. They bit at her ankles.

Sighing, Ruth turned to Aurelia and forced a grin. "You ready for a pyjama party?" She asked playfully, nudging Aurelia in the shoulder. "It'd be like that time in the Astronomy Tower, I'd like to think." Her smile turned soft in reminiscence. Several different goals had been achieved that night. One, they hadn't been caught by Professor Starwise (thank goodness), two, they had managed to catch a glimpse of the Ursids Meteor Shower (which Ruth claimed to be because of her) and three, the two had become solid friends. The thought made her chest grow warm and caused Ruth to squeeze her pillow tighter.

It seemed that quite some people had arrived before them and were already socialising. Ruth spied a couple of familiar faces gathered around, many her lips could form the names of but others not so much. Ruth didn't particularly feel like joining any of them unless they called for her. Her exhaustion had deflated her will to socialise, and she wasn't at all close with anyone present. Spending time with Aurelia felt like a main goal, though she could only wonder how long it would be before she passed out to the girl's ramblings. That's if I trigger them, Ruth thought to herself. Surely she wouldn't? Ruth couldn't recall the last time she did, besides the first time they met. That put a soft smile on her face.

She eyed Aurelia, seeking her reaction. Deep down she hoped that the girl wouldn't storm off, claiming this to be a waste of time when she could have been using it to read or sleep or something else much more important than a PJ party you can't even sleep at.

Speech -- Thoughts

Pam was running late. Like, very late.

Actually, that was probably her thought because she had completely, utterly forgotten about the pajama party until... approximately five minutes ago.

She speed-walked down the corridor towards the ballroom, not running mainly because the last time she had skidded across the corridor in full kdrama style had left her with enough embarrassment to last her a lifetime. That one incident was on the top of her 'embarrassing moments which are difficult to forget' list. She was never experiencing that again. She was lucky it had happened in the absence of people. God, if anyone had seen that.... I'd have died of embarrassment.

She yawned as she walked into the noise of the people accumulated in the ballroom. Most of them still seemed to have their social batteries intact, and Pam was suddenly overcome with the desire to turn on her heel and run away, because why on earth had so many people come to a pajama party? At this rate, it would become a mini-concert.

Same reason you've come really.

To her surprise, there were very few familiar faces this time 'round. Maybe all of them haven't come yet? It's late though. She spotted three familiar faces almost immediately, Avery and Lyanna, sitting together, and then Kaitlyn, and Pam shook her head softly, smiling. I'm seeing those three everywhere. Pam wasn't in much of a desire to talk, or any at all actually, looking around to find the person she needed to ensure she didn't explode or start bawling.

There she is.

Pam felt her mood get infinitely better (okay, that was probably an exaggeration) as she spotted the familiar black-haired girl who currently occupied the position of her best friend. Ruth was sitting with Aurelia, saying something to her, and Pam sighed as she walked over to them, plopping down between the girls in a way that she could lean against both of them if she wanted to. Looking back, it was probably rude of her and Aurelia (and probably Ruth) would murder her, but she was currently too tired to care much. For now, her target was Ruth, and she turned to her, burying her head into the girl's shoulder. "Rue..."

She flashed Aurelia a small smile, feeling a mix of sleepy and delirious, "Auri! Hii!"

─────Siobhan had been sitting with her knees held to her chest and watched as Toaster made the fascinating discovery of his own tail. It brought a soft smile to her face and she made the mistake of looking up, making direct eye contact with Prat. She shamefully averted her face into her hands and shifted her body around to face away from him as she heard him offer her cat a treat. No doubt something that wasn't good for the poor fluffy kitten. He had been trying to steal her cat for some time now through the usage of food and if Siobhan was any less vigilant, she knew Toaster would be far too easily swayed towards the trickster who had insistantly plopped himself next to her and was now currently invading her space. Truthfully his voice was muffled and anything he was saying to her was going straight through her ears and away into the nothingness that was the ability of the sense of hearing.

She didn't acknowledge his movements towards her or anything he said until he voiced his statment about the scars around her eyes. Her lip wobbled and she yanked her eyemask over her eyes, covering the rest of her face with her hands and trying desperately not to break down into a hysterical fit of sobs. She had finally run out of her beautifcation potion that one of the medi-witches had given her a small supply off before she had been discharged from St. Mungo's. She needed more but hadn't been able to find somewhere that sold it for a reasonable price to poor muggleborn students and it stressed her out to no end. She knew that beauty was superficial but damnit she wanted to look normal! Siobhan simply shrunk inwards on herself as Toaster tried to pull her hand away from her face and make her pet him for comfort.

"Don't look at me-" she whimpered into her hands. Prat seemingly apologized to her and theair between the two of them was silent for a few minutes before Siobhan spoke up a few moments later, covering her quiet sobbing with attempted realization for him.

"A potion blew up in my face- I was stupid and it failed and I'm going to lose my eyes." she broke as the tears stung the crevices of her scars. It was shocking how her scars spiderwebbed out when someone was looking close enough at them. They weren't even connected but they were everywhere, small but noticable burn scars littered the tissue around her eyes and her forhead. Contracture scars is what they were called, which made it difficult for her skin to adjust to movement. Everything felt far too tight and as though it would rip any moment. She hated how she looked and couldn't imagine

Another few moments passed and Prat voiced his question about whether or not she wanted to join him and two others, someone named Atlas and Valk- who she was pretty sure she had already met- in the fun activity of making a fort. She had just started to somewhat calm down when two more voices, Remedy's and she guessed whoever this Atlas kid was, had started to ask questions about her eyes. She needed to run away and hide.

And so she did-

With a bit of a struggling sob she moved away from everyone who had come into her corner and began to ask her about her eyes. It was all she could think about and what should be a fun and exciting activity had turned into a pity party for herself. Again. She needed to stop doing this and hiding away from people but it felt better than to face the music of her new appearance. She stood near the outward entrance of the ballroom and dabbed at her eyes gently with her pajama sleeves, rubbing was bad for the skin around them and would only make it itchier than it could get sometimes.

She didn't return for a bit, until she had settled down and stopped crying. The hiccuping hadn't stopped but the sobbing had mostly. She embarrassedly walked back towards her spot where Toaster was, and her friends. Maybe they wouldn't ask anymore questions and she could just build a fort with them. If they even still wanted her to after running away like a big baby.

She sat down, trying to be relaxed but didn't say anything. She just pulled Toaster into her lap and kept her eyemask over her eyes to hide them as her face burned with the sting of embarrassment.

Though Lyanna could feel Av starting to crack, her best friend took a deep breath, sat beside her and spoke.

She told her that her father had sent her a letter, and very vague at that. Lyanna nodded in understanding, knowing exactly how that felt. Hadn't the same thing happened to her only a few months back? At least Avery's contained enough information to actually get a sense of the full picture, something that wasn't the case for her. When she had been on the Hogwarts Express, going home for the winter holidays, there was only a note saying that her dad couldn't come and that she had to go home by taxi. It was ridiculous, and thinking back at it made Lyanna's head spin. Everyone knew her as the bright, rather extroverted girl they had met before Christmas, before everything, but she wasn't that girl anymore. Lyanna Oak had changed.

After Av shared her thoughts about the letter, she went on, saying that she had finally found out that her grandfather was sick. That he may not survive. As her best friend said those words on the verge of tears, Lyanna inhaled quickly and gave her a comforting hug, because she knew that there wasn't much else that she could do. "Av, I- I'm so sorry you have to go through this," she whispered. "I'll be here for you no matter what, even though that might not mean as much as I wish it could." It broke Lyanna's heart to see her best friend Av so sad and broken. She must've been really close to her grandfather, there was no doubt about that. And whatever she could do to help Av, she would do without hesitating for a second. That's what best friends are for. To support you and always be there for you.

Av then continued by saying that she never received an owl after that, so she kept becoming more and more worried and didn't know what to write in the owl she wanted to send to her father. Lyanna nodded again. She understood. But what Av said then was the most shocking thing so far, what had probably shattered her the most. Av's mother had made her leave where she grew up, after she had come back from the woods with Dylan, someone Lyanna didn't recall knowing of or had only heard of a few times in the past. Why Av was forced to leave the place she loved? Even Av didn't know yet. By the sound of it her mother wasn't one to have an argument with, to say the least.

"Oh, Av- it's so unfair that you had to leave the place you loved. That was Swansea, right? Where you grew up?" Before Lyanna could think about everything she had heard, her best friend finished the story. Some boy named Dennis had told her about the Floo Network from Hogwarts, and Av was finally allowed to see her grandfather after so long. He was very sick when he woke up to see her, and had Dragon Pox. Av finished by saying that that was one of the most difficult moments in her life.

Lyanna couldn't even imagine what that was like. Now she knew what had happened, what had been tormenting her best friend for so long, and she would do anything and everything to help her get through it. But just as she thought these words, Av spoke one last time, saying not only that it felt wonderful to get off her chest, to which Lyanna smiled, but also asking what she wanted to tell her. Av had found the strength to tell her everything, and now it was her turn to do the same. Lyanna could do it. A PJ Party was supposed to be fun after all, and once she had gotten it off her chest like Av had, she certainly would have the fun she deserved. Lyanna took one last deep breath as her best friend squeezed her finger to give her the strength she would need and found the words she needed to tell her story.

"It all started on the first day of the Christmas holidays. I was on the train to go back home, and-" Lyanna told herself not to stop talking. She needed it just like Av did. And Av deserved to know. "And I received a letter. From my father, like you did coincidentally. I know its contents by memory. It said:

"Dear Lyanna,

I'm very sorry to have to send you this letter and hope it reaches you well. With sorrow I have no choice when I tell you that I won't be able to come to King's Cross this afternoon to pick you up from the Hogwarts Express. I've tried everything to avoid this, but I have no choice. There will be a taxi awaiting your arrival near the front of the station at 8 o' clock, the expected time of your arrival. Again, my apologies that this had to happen, especially at Christmas.

Sincerely,
Dad

"I was so confused. I mean, I never have to take the taxi and since my grandmother doesn't live in Cambridge, I take the train rather often to see her as she's a muggle and isn't connected to the floo network. At first my dad was being strange, sort of trying to act as if my mom was at St. Mungo's, to protect me from doing anything stupid. But apparently he still doesn't understand that I always find out the truth about these things, like this time..."

Lyanna closed her eyes for a moment, picturing it all, a tear rolling down her cheek. She didn't even bother wiping it away, she was done hiding her emotions. If she was going to shed a tear, so be it. With her eyes closed, the girl continued, her voice slowly cracking. "The whole time the only person I saw was dead. Literally. She was a ghost. My mom's best friend, until she was killed. Remember the key I received on my birthday? It led to a "secret room". A lot of the things there were coded, but not everything. And still, I don't know how it happened. How she was there one morning and gone that afternoon."

Opening her eyes again, Lyanna finished with one last sentence. One last sentence to let the rest make sense. A conclusion without an end to the story, the beginning of a new chapter. And this time, they would be there for each other. This time, they would get through it together.

"Jade Oak disappeared."

𝕾tudents accumulated in the corridors of the Fourth Floor, sporting different coloured and patterned pajamas, clutching their own pillows and blankets whilst laughing and whispering with their friends. The pale moonlight seeping through the kaleidoscopic arched windows illuminated the marbled floors—however, this is not the cause of their bright faces, only the prospect of attending a party unfolding in midnight could ever brighten those expressions. One would think that they are perhaps breaking a few rules (e.g., strolling in the halls during curfew), but rest assured, this is being hosted by a Hufflepuff Prefect. No one executes everything without a permit these days.

A Hufflepuff girl wearing a frog-printed pajamas and already twelve years of age reached the Fourth Floor with a huff, carrying her set of pillow and blanket around her arm and cradling her black feline in the other. Her long, tight curls cascaded unceremoniously down her back, letting it flow as she normally style it in a messy bun, tucked with her black walnut wand for safekeeping. Anyone close to her would hear all the grumbles she uttered under her breath, initially complaining about the mediocre architectural structure of the castle with how the experience of ascending the stairs is similar to hiking and climbing the Mt. Everest.

This is Aurelia Valentine and her cat, Stalker. The black feline dangled on her arm uselessly, napping and perhaps with no care in the world. This cat refuses to leave her side in this particular time of the day, unless she was in classes then this creature roam the halls to stalk and steal from other students with his large, round green orbs. This mission and habit of his (i.e., stealing, stalking) had been adapted ever since Stalker became a stray in Diagon Alley, in which Aurelia is attempting her darnedest to get rid of. It will only be a matter of time before someone approach her to complain, as this black feline loves to steal food and... quills. Stalker picked up the notion that the young badger has a habit of collecting assorted quills from different shops.

Buying the stupid pet bed from Magical Menagerie had been a useless endeavour. She saved up her weekly allowance for this, only for Stalker to sleep on her bed, taking up most of the space. It refuses to leave her side, for that matter, this boy is astonishingly clingy despite of the cruel life he lived in Diagon Alley. The raven-haired badger absent-mindedly planted kisses on the feline's head, making his ears fold marginally. Her deep brown eyes scanned the area and came upon the realisation that these kids would love to attend social gatherings such as this here pajama party rather than academic classes.

Which she understands—only not on their level.

Ruth Fairchild, another Hufflepuff her year—which is her only friend in the entirety of Hogwarts, for that matter—posed a rather useless question, also associated with a playful nudge on her shoulder, if she is ready for the upcoming Pajama Party. With a crease in her brow, she turned to the girl with an inquisitive look in her deep brown eyes. "Of course, I am ready. I packed - I packed stuff," showing the enchanted leather satchel dangling on her shoulder, it carries a lot of items Aurelia deemed necessary. One of them being sanitary tissues, hand sanitisers, and other things that are difficult to mention as they are all squeezed inside despite of it being remarkably spacious.

"How would it ever be like in the Astronomy Tower? For one, we are not breaking any rules, I would like to think. In addition to that, we are required to socialise in the best attire necessary for the event, pajamas—which actually sounds intimate, if one thinks about it," Replied Aurelia, with the usual haughty intonation in her voice. People underestimate Hogwarts students, unfortunately for them. Wielding their own wand and practicing different spells in a weekly basis encouraged students to execute pranks, which only leads to issuance of detention—a type of punishment that is clearly ineffective. Everyone should be on their guard, as waking up with growing tentacles at the side of your head is not exactly a superb recommendation.

Upon entering the aforementioned ballroom, the banner that read "Happy National Pajamas Day," greeted them, hanging on one of the ballroom walls, the portraits moved to suit the area. Sage Willow, the current Hufflepuff Prefect stood by the double doors perhaps to greet everyone entering. In no mood to converse with anyone, the young badger camouflaged behind Ruth before they successfully entered, Aurelia, of course, undetected. Other students are already socialising, which is unfortunately the focal point of this gathering. In all honestly, they looked delightful with their coloured and patterned pajamas, seems to her that they sported their very best pair.

"April is quite remarkably eventful, isn't it?" Aurelia wondered aloud, her deep brown eyes scouring the area in order to observe. One would be sick attending this chain of gatherings, especially when one participated in the Twisted Tavern, where the young Hufflepuff witch refused to sit anywhere in fear of hidden magical traps that might accidentally be set off. Only paranoia, of course, no one detected traps—and who in their right mind would plant traps in order to spice up thr games? However, Aurelia's cautious nature cannot be underestimated as it also roots in her tendency to be easily anxious. In the worst possible way.

As soon as both Hufflepuff girls settled, one another familiar face has arrived—Pamela Graham, another Hufflepuff in their year. The girl squeezed herself in the space between Ruth and Aurelia, the movement aggravated Stalker, earning a slight growl from the feline. He would have jumped and ran away if not for the young badger's commanding and grounding hand forcing him to settle back down. "Careful, Stalker does not appreciate sudden movement and might bite you." Warned Aurelia as a form of a greeting, a warning tone in her voice, nonetheless there is no trace of snark that usually swirls in her deep brown eyes.

The raven-haired badger could see that they are all very much sleepy, their eyelids heavy as they observed. As for Stalker, stealing takes up her energy very easy, which demanded all the naps in this forsaken world. A yawn escaped her lips, instantly covered by burying her face in her black feline's fur. Her body would mistake this as a slumber party, that is for sure.

Kaitlyn glanced shyly around at the other students, who seemed to be conversing well with others. While her stutter from last year seemed to subside, she still had trouble talking to others. Social anxiety usually gripped her pretty well, unfortunately. That meant she needed to try harder to be friendly and willing to talk to others.

Suddenly, a loud voice broke her from her thoughts. Kaitlyn looked up and saw a girl on a pillow-blanket sled slide into the ballroom … colliding with a pile of blankets. She giggled quietly after the girl apologized for her actions. Despite her polite demeanor, she knew the sight was entertaining. “That looked fun!” She called out from her spot to the girl, giving her an encouraging smile. Perhaps that was an activity she could partake in … with a few friends. She’d hate the idea of getting hurt … especially at a party. Rising from her spot, she walked over to the girl. “Hi, I’m Kaitlyn,” she greeted her with a shy smile.

Glancing out to the other students, Kaitlyn saw a girl with a shaved head and a unicorn horn that she seemed eager to remove. “Hi!” She called out to the girl, giving her a quick wave. If there was one thing Kaitlyn knew, she was aware of how debilitating it was to talk to people. Even with her improvements, she was still pretty shy. Yet, she wanted to make sure others were included, like these two girls.

Noticing Pamela enter, Kaitlyn smiled and waved at her. She didn’t want to bother the younger girl, who seemed to go talk to other girls. She wasn’t about to demand attention. At the same time, she made a mental note to talk to her later … if possible!

Lexi walked anxiously through the doors of the ball room, curious on what her first party of the year had in store for her. Lexi was excited yet nervous, she didn't want to make the wrong first impression, but she also didn't want to seem anti-social. She walked into the ball room buzzing with excitement and anxiety. She stod there for a few minutes, just looking around the room anxiously, hoping to see someone she recognized. She decied that she was just gonna leave since she wasn't there with anyone anyways, so it wouldn't mater if she stayed th whole time anyways, so quickly she made her way for the doors. Then out of the corner of her I she spotted a Kaitlyn! (Finally a familiar face!) she thought to herself as she made her way over to Kaitlyn. She walked up shyly and said "HI Kaitlyn I'm Lexi. I'm not sure if you recognize me, but I thought should come over to say hi! So how was your day? What's your favorite thing about school so far? So far my favorite subject isTransfiguration!" Then Lexi took a deep breath and realized she was talking fast again, because she was a little anxious so she waited quietly for a reply.

Luisa entered the room, wearing a soft pastel sleeping gown, with a warm blanket bundled around her, a blanket her mother had given her as a sending away gift, she quite liked it, very warm and thick, which was quite useful in the drafty hogwarts halls, no matter how much magic a person put up there was always someone who left their window open overnight and made the whole dorm room much too cold.
she had thought about bringing some food, but figured it would be too difficult to get the house elves to let her make her own food, probably would have spent the whole time begging to be allowed to help her, or better yet, make it themselves. In the end she had decided to ask one of her fellow griffendows to borrow their gobstones set, which she hoped someone here would stop to play with her, it was one of her favorite games, something she would always play whenever she had a sleepover as a child or just because she and her brothers didn't want to go to sleep when their parents said it was time. She happily went from table to table, eating a bit of this and some of that. She stopped to chit chat with a few of the other students in attendance. This was fun, she didn't usually do big sleepovers like things like this, but sometimes it was nice to sit down and gossip for a bit.
Eventually she settled down with someone to play a few rounds of gobstones, and was on quite the winning streak, though in a moment of ill-advised distraction, she spotted a girl named Lexi across the room. “LEXI” she called “HI, get over here and play me will you?” she and the other girl had interacted before and she seemed quite nice, willing to have some actual fun, something she respected in others.
She waved towards the other girl, hoping to be spotted, only to be squirted in her face by a gobstone, earring a loud laugh from her opponent. She wiped the gunk off her face and refocused on the game she was playing. There was no way she was loosing just because she had spotted someone fun across the room, though… it would be quite nice to catch up with her. As she played she continued to try to get the other girl’s attention.

Lexi heard someone call her name,so naturally she looked around to see who it was. That's when she noticed Luisa in her pastel pink pajamas calling her over to join her in a game of gobstones. Lexi smiled and waved back at Luisa, kind of surprised that Luisa had remembered her . Shortly after Lexi had noticed that Kaitlyn didn't appear to be paying attention, Lexi excused herself and walked over to Luisa anxiously. Luisa had invited Lexi over to play a game of gobstones, but Lexi was kind of nervous since she had never played before. She didn't want to get embarrassed by saying she didn't know how to play. SO she thought "Well what if I don't tell her that I don't know how to play?" Then she figured it would be much worse if she just played along with it , and looked absolutely ridiculous struggling to play the game. As Lexi approached Luisa she had finally decided she would just tell her that she didn't know how to play. She sat down across from Luisa and said "Hey long time no see! Are you playing gobstones? It looks like fun, but I've never played before could you teach me?"

"I will not let anyone"
"walk through my mind"
"with dirty feet."
