XXXXEonaria squeaked slightly at Dev's words. Spiking the drinks at a ball didn't sound like a prank, it sounded more like something you would get in big trouble for. Ah, traffic. Wait. Like, Muggle car traffic? Her last encounter with a Muggle car- admittedly, a Muggle toy model of a Muggle car- had not gone very well. Her suspicion was confirmed seconds later when Dev casually added in her 'No-Maj school.' Eonaria blinked, a little startled as a frown formed on her face.
XX XXXXShe wasn't sure what she was thinking, but Dev didn't exactly give off Muggleborn vibes. Oh. Wait- She probably would have gone on to dig herself her hundredth rabbit hole of confused thoughts, but suddenly the mystery about 'tiny comic books' was cleared up. "Manga is the same size as regular comic books, though?" Eonaria frowned. "I mean, books can be whatever size the author/publisher wants it to be." When Eonaria turned back to blink at Dev and Lucy after Akari promptly left, the Ravenclaw responded to her somewhat-rhetorical question with "I believe you were about to tell us something about your boyfriend." Eonaria stared at her, not comprehending for a moment. First, I was telling you nothing of the sort. Second, I don't have a boyfriend. Then it finally clicked, and she accidentally choked on her own saliva.
XXX"What?! No!" She cried, trying to restrain her coughs. Yeesh, this is not going well. Once Eonaria finally cleared her throat, her face redder than before, she quickly explained, ”He's my cousin." Then she buried her face in her hands.

The clocks announced the start of the spring ball while Sabrina laid in her bed, in a silent, one-sided staring contest with her dress. It's gliterry stars on dark fabric contrasted the magically constructed ones over her head, a fact she gushed to her roommate about the January day her small owl delivered it with a letter from her mom. She held it to her shoulders then and spun around the room. Now it hung untouched from the opened closet doors.
Since the trip to France, she hasn't been to any school organized events. At first, she convinced herself that she was just busy, already had plans or just wasn't in the mood. It was only when the swimming event happened that she was forced to face the music. She loved water, itched to find a way to swim without having to break the rules since day one. She wanted to go, prepared herself to, but when the time came, she couldn't make herself leave the dorms. It was then, hiding under her blanket with tear stained cheeks, when she first admitted to herself that she was avoiding the gatherings. Worse was that she had no idea why.
She considered the experience to be one of her biggest failures yet. And even if she was afraid to go, she refused to feel that way again. Plus, her parents will ask about it, and she'd feel quilty lying, even through written word (still, it was true that she omitted to share her recent embarrassment with them). Rolling onto a side, she hugged her knees to her chest. Pressing her face against them, her eyes burning with forming tears.

After splashing her face with cold water and digging up her black nylons, Sabrina made her way down the corridor leading to the Great hall. Her mary jane flat's clicked against the marble floor, murrmurs of distant conversations reaching her ears. Tense and fitgeting with the rims of her dark blue dress, she peered in.
As expected, the place was breathtaking. The long tables replaced with smaller white ones, fairy lights hung from the columns and, of course, the magical ceilling mirrored the clear sky outside. Sabrina took a moment to just look up at it, grounding herself before fully entering the space. With a deep breath, she looked ahead again, her feet moving forward. After recieving a butterfly shaped dance card, which she found adorable, she looked around the room.
The tenstion in her shoulders eased, corners of her lips tugging up as she saw a familiar figure - Nari. Paying no mind to the drinks and food on display, she hurried over to her friend, her excitement bordering on a strange kind of despiration. Closer now, she noticed that Nari was talking to two other girls she didn't recognize. She slowed down, seeds of doubt taking root somewhere deep in her chest. She normally didn't mind meeting new people, was fond of it even, but lately it has been a bit.. harder. She shook her head as if it could clear her mind. Nari is her friend - one of her best friends - she has no reason to be afraid when approaching her.
"Excuse me, m'lady" she said while tapping on Nari's shoulder from behind. "May I have a dance later in this fine day?" She grinned, doing a light bow, one hand bend behind her back and the other resting over her chest in a mock gentleman like gesture.

“POLO!” A familiar voice cries out. Odette whips around, and there, standing on her own chair across the room, is Robin. With a massive smile, she waves her arms excitedly at the curly-haired witch before hopping down to the floor, grabbing her plates, and setting off.
Finding Robin is much harder with both feet on the ground. At 4 '9, Odette has some height amongst other first-years, but when the ball is packed with older students– in heels, no less– she might as well be as tall as a house elf. Standing on the tip of her toes and straining her neck does little to see over people’s heads. All Odette can do is walk in the direction she last saw Robin, but at this point, she’s not even sure she’s walking the right way anymore. With little choice, the wise Ravenclaw does the most logical thing in her mind– keep playing marco-polo.
It’s worked for them once, right?
“Marco!” Odette calls out once more. A few students nearby give her strange looks, but she pays them no mind as she hears a faint “Polo!” from somewhere to her right. Budging past witches in flowy dresses and wizards in– did she just pass a chicken?– Odette moves towards the shout while protecting her food from wandering elbows and distracted party-goers. Sounding off again, the curly-haired witch’s responding cry seems a bit closer. Feeling encouraged, Odette continuously calls out, “Marco!” and follows the trail of “Polo!” until she finally shoves past a group of students to see Robin casually sipping at her goblet.
“I miss the days when you used to stalk me.” Odette pouts playfully while placing her food down on the table and taking a seat, “It was so much easier to find you without all the yelling. I’d just go in the direction I feel the weird stares coming from.”
Taking in Robin’s beautiful flowy black dress, shiny ringlets, and matching jewelry, Odette became sure of one thing: "I may be biased, but we are, without a doubt, the hottest witches here. I’d say most well-dressed overall, but unfortunately, a chicken and his date get the honor of that title.”
Casually munching on her first plate, Odette cocks her head at Robin and adds, “Sorry I’m late, by the way. You won’t believe how heavy my coin purse is! Did I miss anything?”

Nabi stood before her mirror, her gray eyes looking at her reflection as she made sure her dress fit her well. Not a single thread out of place... good. She had been correct; baby blue did appear well in silk. The cape sleeve added a hint of modesty to the dress as the end pooled behind her like a small puddle of water. She was humming to herself, fastening her heirloom to her waist where a ribbon would attach to her norigae. Her black hair was done in a neat bun, held together by a matching butterfly hairpin. Deciding to add a bit more color to her appearance, she put on soft pink lipstick to avoid looking like a ghoul.
Finishing up with any final touches, she continued to hum softly whilst putting on a pair of matching heels. Grabbing her wand, she began to walk toward her dormitory door.
━━━━━━━━━━━━
It is just a ball...
Nabi had been trying to convince herself, each step she took brought her closer to the Great Hall as her hands grew cold. A strange new feeling began to bubble inside her and the corridor felt never-ending, as if it were being stretched Why do I feel odd?
She was merely attending a ball with the young Aamon...
Her slender hand gently grazed her jewel as it dangled on her hip, her eyes remained forward, taking a deep breath in, Everything will be fine... The echoes of her heels against the floor broke the silence, ticking like seconds going by— counting for when she would see him again. Getting closer to the final designation, Nabi began to hear the sound of the ball taking place. The sound of music and voices grew louder until she made a turn, finding herself standing by the entrance of the Great Hall.
She began to look around, her eyes scanning through the sea of people as some students passed by her. I should have told him where I would wait... Some people were dancing, but she could not see Aamon. Could Mr. Athanatos be late? Nabi hummed softly, still looking around,
Or did he bump into a wall on his way here?

As always, the Great Hall was transformed into the most beautiful sight. Everything was beautifully decorated and the atmosphere was inviting for dancing, spending pleasant and happy moments with friends and savouring the delicious delicacies displayed on the long table in the spacious entrance of the room. Mey let her eyes linger over every detail, calmly appreciating all the charming centrepieces, as she slowly made her way towards the only figure she recognised immediately as soon as she saw the so familiar redhead, undoubtably belonging to one of her best friends.
"Looking for someone?" She asked him, when she found herself right behind him. It wasn't her intention to scare him, but if she did, she would laugh at his reaction; otherwise she would simply give him a wide, bright smile. Meyra looked at Dennis, he was looking really cute that evening, she would have to admit that. His outfit made him look like an adventurous and handsome prince from one of those fairy tale legends, and his green eyes seemed to sparkle, and his disheveled hair made him look daring and nonchalant, and...
...and she had been staring at him for a long time, didn't she? Oh gods... she thought, as a gentle warmth spread across her cheeks and she felt her heart beat faster at her embarrassment. Mey cleared her throat as she looked out at the crowd. She really wasn't seeing anything though, just trying to find something to say, as words seemed to have abandoned her in her time of need. "It's not Beauxbatons, but it has its charm, doesn't it?" What a stupid thing to say Mey...Why would you even compare...? She scolded herself, cringing inside at her own choice of words.
"Do you..." She began, making a quick gesture with her hand towards the couples who were already dancing, "Do you want to dance?" She asked him shyly. The hell is wrong with me?? She asked herself again, feeling the despair taking over her, almost causing her a small panic attack. Where was all that coming from? Why would she be feeling so anxious asking a friend if he wanted to dance with her? It was a ball wasn't it? She had a card to write her dance partners' name and all that... so the most natural thing was to invite someone to dance right? Right! Please say yes Dennis...

The Spring Soirée was finally in full force, the lacklustre events over the past few months and approach towards Easter break was in essence, truly the only thing Meiyu was looking forward to. Yet, once more, she'd be attending without another ball without a date, which would be embarrassing had it not been for the array of outfits Meiyu saw the girls ready themselves with — evidently far from whatever theme had been decided. Though, much like the other girls whom she resided with in her dormitory, Meiyu had asked her mother to send some garments from Oxford, ideally something perfect for midsummer, albeit amidst the season of spring. To her surprise, the selection which had arrived merely a few days ago, were far from what she had even imagined. Her mother, Elizabeth, had sent a total of three garments, not-so subtlety including the bright green hues as though to mock her failure to place with in Slytherin further; which her grandmother should be over by now, considering a year would soon pass since the Sorting Hat sat on her head.
In the end, Meiyu settled for the Hanfu inspired garment, paying homage to her Chinese ancestry, although, the floral elements and accents of red hues found in the string wrapped around both her waist and neck which matched her burgundy hair would be sufficient enough to make a statement. To the young lioness, it was clear her father had some involvement in the inclusion of this specific garment, sneakily attaching a note and a small pouch of makeup; the true fashion icon within the Knight-Xiang household. Sitting crossed legged on her bed after being dismissed early for the day in preparations for the ball, Meiyu took her time tor ready herself, having never worn makeup properly before, it was an experience. Later, she plaited her hair in her usual style of two side plaits, hesitantly attaching floral pieces to her hair to conclude her final look, content with her approach to the theme, albeit outside of the box portrayed in the posters announcing the event that were scattered around the castle.
Upon entry, a butterfly dance card was thrusted at her by a student, Meiyu was unable to hide her dissatisfaction at the display of poor etiquette, rolling her eyes in displeasure, she took the dance card, tying the string around her wrist. It was unlikely she'd even fill her dance card, but the sentiment was appreciated. Gawking around, she noted how the Great Hall and transformed, the shift in decor provided a new aura, transcending the young girl back in time which she had at times daydreamed about, adoring the Victorian era the most and rather enjoying tracing her roots in England back then. Still, Meiyu's brows furrowed as she looked around and noted the different arrays of attires, scoffing at the sight of a short boy in what appeared to be a chicken costume. If this truly were the medieval period, he surely would have been hired as the king's jest.
Slowly moving towards the banquet area, the sight of the food assortments, her cat like eyes squinting ever so slightly in search of something edible to begin the evening. The bustling atmosphere and the bard-like music echoing in the background served as adequate white noise to the young girl, finding herself rather content with the overall ball compared to the lacklustre events that transpired in the fall ball; one that had left her angry and irritated as the missed opportunity. Internally swearing to herself she'd make more of an effort this time should such an opportunity presents itself, despite the lack of date to account for her dance card which would likely remain empty once the ball ends. Swiftly leaning in to pick a drink out of the vast assortments provided, Meiyu noticed a figure approach the table, her eyes following him as he attempted to survey the hall and manoeuvre his hands in a deceitful manner, though not undetectable to her keen eye, likely akin to her heightened senses.
"What a loser." She scoffed, shaking her head, in distaste at the poor attempt which had been made, perhaps undetectable to the professors who stood somewhere in the hall. Raising the glass she had picked up merely moments ago, she brought the cup to her lips, watching the figure disappear as she took a sip of the liquid, contemplating whether a further action would be required.

Dennis continued to glide through the crowd. Passively looking for someone, someone sure to take his breath away, but he would never actively admit it. He saw several other people he was hoping to share a dance with busy for the moment. That couldn’t be helped, everyone had their own things to do. But still…where was she? Dennis was just about to make his last round before hunkering down at the snack table when a voice, perhaps a whisper against the general noise of the atmosphere, caught his attention. It didn’t scare him but it did give a sensation, a little like an electric shock through his body. Was it excitement? Elation? Just a random spasm? Dennis wouldn’t know.
He turned around, his cape fanning out, to see the one he had been waiting for. He didn’t catch the fact that she was also staring at him, for he was stunned, even the anticipation of the moment didn’t rescue him. He had never seen someone so elegant and so charming in his life. His heart did that thing again where it felt like it was skipping not just a beat but like it was playing hopscotch. Should he call for the nurse? Was he about to die? Why was there suddenly a light…should he follow it? Dennis cleared his throat. “Oh…hey Mey,” he said, now feeling small but still trying to keep any semblance of human decency. “You look…nice.” He said meekly. He swallowed that same audible swallow as when he read her letter, only muffled by the crowd. "I...I mean breath...taking...You looking stunning," he followed up trying to recover.
At the same time, Mey seemed to recover her senses too. Her next words were about France. Great. Now he was thinking about that too. Were was the energy he had only moments ago? For someone so fearless he launches himself headlong into really stupid things, why was this the most difficult thing he was also looking forward to. “They really did a nice job, huh?” Dennis mustered lamely, to a friend previously so easy to talk to. It was the ball. They enchanted it. That had to be the only reason. So knocked off balance was he, he didn’t even realize that he didn’t have a single thought about his emotions being born from a need to use the bathroom.
“I would love to!” Dennis said eagerly, not waiting for her to get the question fully out. And just like that, he was back. Awkward one moment and fearlessly brave the next. Dennis took one hand in his and placed the other on her waist, wasting no time to twirl her around, deftly stepping in a timed rhythm but also narrowly avoiding her feet. Fortune favors the bold, and whether or not Mey accidentally stepped on his feet it would not have mattered as his emerald eyes locked on to hers with a smile. The music, the dance, the anticipation, the one he was with. Time froze for the Ravenclaw as they spun around the dance floor. A moment as fleeting as this, the feel of her soft skin, the way they moved, all of it treasured. The enchantment they used on the Great Hall was powerful indeed!

Thoughts: italicsDevon nodded at Luce’s reasoning. “I hope it’s not … but I imagine drinking more of it would make any impacts worse,” she replied, her voice calm. Ever since she was a young girl with dance recitals and playing her violin, she naturally had a calming presence about her. She wasn’t the type to fret; even then, she would fret more internally than externally. There was often enough stress going around; why add another girl to the list?
With Luce’s comments made with a mouth full of food, Devon giggled quietly, understanding the gist of it despite its near incomprehensibility. “I liked the Statute of Liberty the best. I loved the view from the very top of it!” She exclaimed with a giggle. “Sadly, they don’t let you just climb up there yourself … you need to be part of a tour. I went with my older sister. I enjoyed it,” she continued.
Tilting her head to the side, Devon looked at Eonaria, curious as to why she seemed to be quiet and frowning. For that matter, it appeared that Eonaria was on the more quiet side, which she honestly didn’t mind. She liked talking with people, regardless. “Hey, is everything ok? Did I say something wrong?” She asked, leaning toward Eonaria and lowering her voice. She hated the thought of ruining Eonaria’s night.
After straightening up, Devon giggled quietly and nodded at Lucy’s suggestion about reading some of his Manga. “I have some at Ilvermorny, too,” she smiled happily.
Devon tilted her head when Luce tried to tease Eonaria about the boy from before … calling him her boyfriend. Devon frowned a little but didn’t say anything about it. She hadn’t noticed her boyfriend yet but figured that she’d try to have a happy time alone. After all, this was meant to be a party. “I think it’s nice he came up to you,” she spoke encouragingly to Eonaria.
A girl then came up and asked Eonaria to dance. Devon smiled at Eonaria, and giggled quietly. She gave the other girl an encouraging nod. “Have fun,” she whispered.Reducio

╭ ꧁ ༺ ༻ ꧂ ╮As more and more people started entering the great hall, the sounds of chatter and laughter started to fill the once empty silence. Joy echoed throughout the room, lighting up the hall in a way that not even the prettiest of chandeliers can achieve. However, more than that the room itself was masterfully designed. It looked like if a mystical fairy met old money royalty.
The tables, intricately designed with the highest pristine, sparkled in the soft light that hang from the sky, mimicking stars in the way they gleamed and lit up the room and the small candlelight adorning each circular table. Azzure observed the people running around, friends chatting, new friendships blooming, and love growing.
The sight was unfamiliar to Azzure. Growing up so isolated, it felt weird for her to suddenly be here —adorned in a pricey suit she had bought using money she owns personally. Standing in a big hall filled with smiling teens and not boring rich upper class pure bloods who only knew business and alcohol. The lively music —a stark contrast to same somber piano pieces repeated every ‘important gathering’. It felt like a breath of fresh air, and for the first time in a long while, Azzure let herself relax. A soft smile playing in her lips as she melted into the ordinance of her surroundings.
⊱────•⋅⊰༻♥༺⊱⋅•────⊰
Azzure was comfortable just staring into space, her white hair falling softly over her eyes and cascading around her face. However, from the corner of her eye, Azzure caught sight of the most beautiful woman she had ever seen and for a moment Azzure forgot how to breathe.
Azzure stared at Vi from across the room, not caring how obvious it might have looked. When Violence entered the room —Azzure's whole world stopped to stare at her. Her dark blue and black gown cascading around her like ripples in a lake, illuminated by starlight — and her eyes! Gods, her eyes. Azzure swears she could see those same gorgeous eyes everyday and still be stunned by their beauty every single time.
From the opposite side of the room, Azz could see the cutest blush on her face. Violence’s rosy cheeks only further highlighted the deep blue of her eyes. And now more than ever, Azzure found herself wondering how in the hell she managed to get a goddess as her date. Before Azzure noticed it, a faint pink blush had dusted her own cheeks, causing an uncontrollable warm feeling to rise up in my chest. Yet before Azz can gain at least a semblance of composure, Vi had begun to walk towards Azzure.
Azzure straightened up immediately, fixing and patting down the suit she had custom made to compliment Vi's dress. Azz made a show of clearing her throat as Violence reached her. But seeing Violence up close only magnified her beauty, and for a moment she just stood there. Her eyes sparkled with an unfamiliar feeling as marveled at Violence’s beauty. Her chocolate hair —perfectly tied into a little half ponytail adorned with cute little butterflies that brought the warmest smile to Azzure’s face.
Azzure looked at Vi with eyes filled with nothing but adoration. A deep blush spread to her face as Vi began to spark, her voice a soft forgiving melody. Azzure could swear any more time spent with this girl would make her addicted. Azzure smiled sweetly at Vi when she started to go on a tagine, her addicting voice bringing the widest smile on Azzure’s face.
Azzure chuckled slightly when Violence averted her eyes, her cute gesture of scratching at her head in embarrassment causing Azz’s heart to flutter and soar with joy. Azzure softly raised one of her hands to hold Violence’s chin, tilting her head up to meet Azz’s eyes.
“Don’t be embarrassed. Please, ramble some more. I like listening to your voice.” Azzure spoke, her voice low and soft as she held Vi’s gaze. Azzure’s eyes zeroed in on the little strands of Vi’s hair that had fallen from the neat hairdo. Azz lifted her free hand up to tuck back the hairs that had fallen, her hand lingering there as Azzure carded her hand gently through Vi’s hair.
“You’re gorgeous, Violence. Your dress really compliments your eyes. You are very beautiful.” Azzure’s hand that was previously holding Vi’s chin dropped down to take Violence’s hand in hers, bringing it to her lips to place a chaste kiss on her gloved hand. Before pulling away to smile softly at Violence.
However just then, Azzure caught sight of more and more people going towards the center of the great hall to dance, and —wanting to capitalise of the situation, Azzure turned back to Vi, a wide smile on her face and a soft look in her eyes as she met Violence’s vibrant blue, and Azzure finally felt peace and tranquility.
“Violence, my beautiful date —may I have this dance?”

Dressing up as a poultry-themed icon was not looking good. He could practically feel the rows of disapproving eyes boring into him, their silent judgement feeling louder than any whisper. Maybe that was fine. Maybe they'd write him off as just another deranged fellow and let him be. Honestly, that didn't sound too bad.
His gaze flickered back to Astra, nestled snugly in her little sling, her two orb-like eyes peeping out from beneath her charming outfit. Look at her, facing down the crowd with a straight face, calm and composed. Maybe Joseph did have a thing or two to learn from his pet rock, after all. Was it even possible to not absolutely adore her?
His train of thoughts were cut off abruptly by an excited voice calling out his name.
Joseph's head snapped up, his gaze landing on the source of the voice. It was Ruth, waving him over with a bright expression. She looked stunning - save for her hair, which looked like it had its own schedule and wasn’t planning to check in on the rest of her. Beside her sat Pam, just as elegant in her outfit as she stared at him with an expression between horror and amusement - as though she couldn't decide whether to burst out laughing or call for help. Joseph blinked, a grin creeping onto his face as he greeted them with a simple wave. Looks like he had company awaiting him.
Carefully maneuvering through the crowd, he made sure the chicken wings strapped to his back didn’t clip any of the other unsuspecting partygoers. He shuffled forward, keenly aware of the breezy airiness of his dress - comfortable yet unfamiliar. At least it didn’t restrict his movement. One misstep, and he could already imagine himself tripping over himself and landing in a crumpled heap. Oh goodness, that’d be embarrassing.
Thankfully, no such disaster occurred. After a bit more awkward weaving, he finally reached the table laden with food.
“Hey, fancy seeing y’all here,” he said, flashing the girls a sheepish smile. “I brought the entertainment clearly.” He resisted the urge to start clucking again, turning to examine the rows of delectable food neatly arranged on the table. So much delicious food available, and not a crumb for Astra. Tragic. Must be sad to be a rock, never getting to enjoy the simple bliss of tasting heavenly food.
“Got any food here to recommend?” Joseph asked, beaming. "I promise not to peck at it."
