The Spring Soirée
By the unknown girl she was looking at, she meant Devon.
"I mean, if it were up to me, I'd just come 'ere in jeans and a tee. And the wig, of course! Could never leave the shinity, brighty wig behind." The corners of her lips twitched up, as she spoke about her new hair. She even ran a hand through her hair and jerked her head it to a side slightly, to attract attention of all those who hadn't yet noticed that Lucy Channing was blonde for this splendid night.
"But all the people 'ere are so well dressed! This looks like..." She took a look around, spinning around too, and breathed in deeply. "Like the ball from Cinderella!" She paused for a sec, looking back at Eonaria.
"Eh.. huh!" Lucy forced out, surprised and embarrassed. IT was even the embarrassed crimson which started climbing her neck and settled on her cheeks gradually. "I-I didn't mean to... I-I... sorry!" At the same time though, the tiny Ravie became curious as to why would anyone not be keen on being compared to fairies...
"So... you're not too keen on fairies, right? Can I ask ya why?" She had to choose a more careful approach, apparently, as the girl had been pretty confident about not wanting to be compared to fairies before. Otherwise, she'd have outlined how cute she considered fairies to be and how her grandpa had several of them as pets in his garden on his chalet in the mountains.
For a second, Lucy actually thought about it.
"Nah, I don't think that the good will to show your openess to someone is considered rude in any culture. I won't call her though, as I originally wanted to, I'll just go there and get 'er! If she wants to talk to us, of course. So, see ya soon... well, hopefully!" The Ravie even waved at her a little.
Lucy then started moving towards Devon and when she was close enough for the American to hear what she was saying, she stopped walking. "Hi there! How are you?" Asked the girl in her first attempt on socialization, smiling.
"So, I noticed you walking around 'ere on your own, and... well, I just wanted to ask you if you, perhaps, wanted to join me and... uh, my friend?"
Whose name you don't even know, Luce, sure.
"Eh... that girl over there," did she feel the need to specify. "I mean, it's completely fine if you don't want to. It's a lot to take in 'ere and there's plenty of people to talk to too!"
Lucy continued rambling, Devon being her current victim.

"Thank you!" Hummed Lucy, obviously pleased with the flattery. "My mum sent the overall to me and I couldn't not adore it! Though it's not really my style. Too formal. Thankfully, it has pants and not a skirt!" Commented the girl."I love your outfit!"

What if Ilvermorny has different customs?"
For a second, Lucy actually thought about it.

─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Arno's heart thudded in his chest as he surveyed the ballroom of Hogwarts. It's grandeur remained undiminished despite the dark shadows cast from it's previous disaster. Arno felt unresolved tension with each step he took upon the land of this castle. His eyes searched the sea of faces, a mix of familiar and new ones. The silver-plated armor he now donned was a representative of his recent move to Durmstrang. A crimson tunic attached to it which symbolized his connection to this new school, in addition Arno quite liked the red color on his skin.
He ensured that the eyes of magical world weren't upon him, not waiting for him to make his next move. This time around, Arno had brought something special to the ball and he refused to be caught with it.
His arms remained steady by his side as he approached the table laden with assortment of dishes. His eyes were narrowed, calculating the best course of action for him to proceed with. The hate potion he was carrying was known to be quite a potent potion. The closer he got to making a decision, the more he began feeling a sense of anticipation in the air, despite these nerves Arno remained unflinching. With what he assumed was his best attempt at sleight of hand, Arno uncorked the vial and began to disperse the contents of his hate potion among the beverages. His movements graceful so as to not raise suspicion. He observed as each drop that fell into the drinks resonated with the promise of discord he hoped to spark.
The innocent guise of drinks belied his malevolent intent. He stepped back, surveying his own handiwork with a grim satisfaction etched across his face in minimal emotions. Slipping the vial back into his pocket, Arno found a corner for himself. The ball had already began and he had partly been successful in orchestrating what he was aiming to.
Sooner, Arno decided to excuse himself. As the murmurs of crowd grew dimmer, Arno slipped out of the hall and set his sights on the Garden of Eden.

the necklace is not that big

Kiara was late. Not a little late. Not "oh-no-I-might-miss-the-opening-speech" late. No. She was cataclysmically, full-on, the-band-is-already-playing-and-the-snacks-are-half-gone late. And for something as big as the Spring Soiree, this was a tragedy.
Why? Why am I like this?! she internally screamed, scrambling in front of the mirror with only half her face and 10% of her dignity ready. Her hair looked like she slept in a wind tunnel, her dress stayed stuck like a ghost on the closet door, and nothing—nothing at all—was where it belonged.
In a twirl of fabric, she gathered up her rose-red chiffon dress,The gown flowed beautifully, unlike her tangled mess of curls that refused to cooperate. She attempted a half-updo that instantly descended into a full-on war with her curls. After what was akin to a duel to the death, she emerged victorious—with a very slightly lopsided bun and tumbling brown curls that, inexplicably, looked effortless.
Slipping into her low ballerina shoes (as she wasn't completely irresponsible), she tied on a dainty pearl necklace and studs with the lithe elegance of a squirrel handling fine china. Looking at the clock produced another wave of desperation running through her. For Merlin's wild beard, it's pretty much over.
She flew out of the dormitory—only to screech to a halt halfway down the hallway. The door! She spun on her heel, flew back, and found it flung wide open as if laughing at her. One resounding door slam afterwards, and she was in motion again, dress flying, shoes clicking, lungs pumping.
By the time she was halfway up her third flight of stairs, she'd already paused twice to theatrically lean against the wall like a tragedy heroine, but much less epically. "I will never run again," she gasped, her hand on her heaving chest. Her dress—faithless beast that it was—kept sliding underfoot, threatening to send her into full-on tumbles every few steps.
Finally—finally—after what had felt like a journey across three time zones, Kiara reached the entrance to the Great Hall. She took a deep (and very dramatic) breath, slipped through the doorway, and stood inside. "At last," she whispered as if stepping into the room was the climax of some aerial adventure. Tucking her empty dance card into the concealed pocket of her dress, she braced herself for the night.

XXXXLucy spoke excitedly about her outfit before exclaiming that everybody looked like they were dressed 'like the ball from Cinderella.' Eonaria looked curiously at her. "Cinderella? What's that?" It sounded odd, like... a feather duster company of some sort. It conjured up images of using the fluffiest, whitest bundle of swan feathers sweeping merrily over royal stairs, which Eonaria tried not to laugh at.
XX XXXXAfter Eonaria's confusion about the fairy comment, the other girl let out a nervous chuckle, beginning to blush and quickly apologize. "Oh, no worries!" Eonaria squeaked, now beginning to blush as well. "I mean, fairies do look kind of pretty, but once you get up close, you can see their rather disturbing eyes. And they don't sound good." She shivered slightly. The Ravenclaw began to approach the Ilvermorny girl, so she followed along. Out of the corner of her eye, she thought she saw someone for a moment. Hm? That must have been my imagination, or... something...? She looked around, puzzled. Eonaria was about to say something, but just as she opened her mouth, Lucy spoke to the Ilvermorny girl and pointed directly at her. Eonaria turned her head, startled. "Oh- um, yeah, me. Hi!" She said hurriedly, waving at the girl with a smile.

She had to find Nabi.
It had been a few months since she had last heard from her, and Boram had spent sleepless nights thinking of the events that transpired within the walls of her house. Perhaps Nabi did know the reason for their mothers' hushed voices and stern expressions. She had been trying to convince herself it was just her paranoia that made her believe there was more to it than what meets the eye.
The ball may not have been the best place for such a conversation. There is always someone watching, after all.
Stepping into what she had been told to be the Great Hall, Boram began to look around. Scanning the growing crowd with an awfully stern expression, her eyes narrowing as she muttered "You call this a ball? How disappointing". She had not gone to the ball the castle had held back in October, but she had heard of the events that occurred during the stay of some of her peers.
Walking toward the table of drinks, her voice was low as she sneered, "This event better be to die for..." Getting closer, a sly grin appeared on her face at the sight of someone she considered to be a friend. His back was to her, but she knew well who the figure was, his crimson tunic catching her attention as she nodded approvingly. She was about to call him when he suddenly turned to leave the table.
But not before she could catch the sight of a vial being slipped into his pocket.
Tilting her head, she watched as he began to make an exit, her confusion turning into something more mischievous as she swiftly followed him. Reaching out, Boram gently grabbed his arm; his silver-plated armor felt cold beneath her hands as she smiled at him. "Enjoying the ball, Arno?" her voice lowered as she whispered, "What's with the vial? You wouldn't be having fun without me now, would you?"
Her eyes looked at him closely before gently pulling him, "Let's go to the Garden of Eden... I hear it's a sight to behold" Boram began to walk with Arno, her head turning to look back into the great hall before looking back at him with a smile, her voice a mixture between sincerity and tease, "Nice attire by the way... it really brings out your eyes"
I can look for her later... hopefully

Thoughts: italicsAs much as Devon liked the architecture of Ilvermorny, she enjoyed seeing Hogwarts, too. It was a beautiful castle, and the Great Hall itself definitely lived up to its name. It was great, as in big! She had to admit, she quite liked it. Naturally, she had no idea how the castle was when there were no visitors, but she could tell it was a well-loved establishment. Plus, Hogwarts had a lot of students. She felt honored to be given the chance to visit Hogwarts.
The young Horned Serpent twirled gracefully as she approached a corner of the room. A voice sounded nearby before Devon could look at more of the room. It was a welcome distraction and reprieve. A calm smile crossed her features as she spun on her toes to look at the girl who was talking to her. “Hi!” She beamed at the younger girl. “I’m great … I’m as enthralled as always for how the Great Hall looks; thank you for asking; how are you?” She asked. Looking at the younger girl, she immediately recognized what the girl was dressed as. “Oh, you’re a fairy! Awesome choice!” She exclaimed.
Devon’s green eyes passed from the girl currently talking to her and the other girl the first was pointing to. She smiled broadly and gave a friendly wave to this second girl. “Hi!” She called out to her. Turning back to the first girl, she nodded. “I’d love to; thank you for the offer,” she smiled. “Shall we go over to your friend?” She suggested, a quiet giggle escaping her lips. She then gracefully began to lead the way over to the indicated girl.Reducio

Lucy smiled and breathed out, probably relieved due to the fact that the girl seemed nice and not at all taken aback by her stubborn attempts to have a conversation.
"Yeah.. me too! It's... beautiful, really. I always admire those who organise these events, for how much detail they go to. It's... fascinating, really." Exhaled Lucy with another look to her surrounding, specifically the decoration and all the natural light. "Oh, I'm... eh, actually, a little hungry."
Her following look went to the tables with the food. "Uhm... I think I'm gonna take something to eat. There are these delicious-looking, chocolate-strawberry tarts, which I've been craving for since the very beginning!" Said the girl matter-of-factly, swallowing hard, apparently from the urge to finally eat something sweet.
Then though, Devon mentioned her fairy costume, drawing Lucy's attention back to herself. "Uh... huh."
Wait, haven't I asked Eonaria exactly the same thing? Is it a... a voulez-vous, or what it's called. Like... thinking something already happened, but it hasn't yet, it's just your percepting that's slow. Thought the girl.
Then, she shook her head. "I'm actually a Star." Lucy pushed her chest forward slightly, arching her back slightly and holding her chin up. She was obviously proud about coming as one of her favourite movie characters. "Do you know the film... or fairy-tale, called Stardust? It's Muggle but there's a lot of magic in it. I'm supposed to be of the characters."
Lucy liked the way Devon started approaching Eonaria almost immediately. "Yeah, sure! I'll catch up soon with ya guys! Gonna get some food first!" Called the girl, moving towards the tables with food.

~~~~~ The Spring Soirée ~~~~~
~Outfit~Reducio
According to her mirror, Robin looked dressed for a funeral rather than a spring soirée ball. According to Robin, mirrors should talk less and should butt out of things that they cannot possibly relate to, considering they are inanimate objects with no body. Mirrors can't possibly understand the importance of creative freedom and expression regarding clothing choices. Why anyone would ever want a judgmental piece of metal to harp on them every day is beyond her - she's just glad she got the guts to go to this ball in the first place. Seeing the flyers posted in the halls between classes, she recognized her growing curiosity and anticipation. She immediately imagined herself indulging in her fantasy of donning a flowy dress and dancing to whatever music came on with whomever she pleased.
Robin asked her closest friend, Odette, to join her. They agreed to meet in the Great Hall since Robin wanted to head in and do a bit of reconnaissance before allowing herself to relax in a room full of older and more powerful students. Regardless, though, she would have fun and had continuously tried to remind herself to relax and indulge despite her investigation urges. As suspicious as she could be with her peers, (hence, her previous stalker-to-friend relationship with Odette...) Robin knew this was her first opportunity to be involved with something like this—a ball. The only dances she had been to previously were the Celtic Festivals back at home in Wales, and those were live performances with a dancing audience rather than a space for people to gather, dine, and dance.
Approaching the entrance to the Great Hall, Robin passed by a person wearing silver-plated armor and a bright crimson tunic. What had caught her attention was the feeling she got when he passed her - it felt like a warning signal declaring that whoever the wizard was, he was not to be messed with. Robin shivered, her mind drifting back to the ball as the room approached, immediately taken aback by the beauty of the transformation. Before she could get far, someone handed her a card and told her to record who she would dance with. As much as Robin loved organization, she thought this was rather an odd addition, but thanked the wizard regardless.
Surveying the growing crowd in the room, Robin made her way to the tables where the drinks were, planning to find a seat and do some crowd investigating before jumping into the thick of things. The lilting tunes of the celts reached Robin's ears, and she smirked, knowing that it would drive some people crazy.
Pouring a bit of butterbeer into a goblet, Robin grabbed a few snacks and headed to a table toward the back of the room, scanning the crowd for Odette as she did. Robin waved at her housemate Lucy as she passed by. Having seen her outfit back in the common room, Robin thought the girl looked quite beautiful as a star. She felt a tad bit of regret for not having stopped and talked to Lucy, but she was a bit of an extrovert, and Robin didn't have the energy to engage in small talk with a crowd of people whose names she certainly wouldn't remember.
Sitting at a table, Robin took a few sips of her drink, munched on a few pieces of cheese, and began her favorite pastime—people-watching.
Odette hasn’t even entered the Great Hall yet, but she’s already having a marvelous time. A few students had wretched incidents with hair charms that caused the half-blood’s business sixth sense to tingle. Fortunately, for those unlucky witches and wizards, Odette had the forethought to stock up on plenty of Madam Malkin’s Combs of Vanity and Dazzling Barrettes over the break. As if she were an angel, the first-year swooped in to capitalize on their misfortune save the day and save their hairdo disaster. For a small price, of course.
It’s worth it! She’d say to the inconsolable customer, Tonight is a night to remember! You don’t want to look back and only remember your, uhh… well- Point is! It’s a quick fix, and then your beauty will stun your date speechless!
For just a few galleons, you’ll be the most handsome guy at the soirée! She’d simper to the downtrodden wizard. That witch will kick herself for turning you down. Red is definitely your color.
Trust me. She’d whisper consolingly to the sobbing witch, One swipe of this comb and no one will be able to tell you burnt half your hair off. It’ll look like a stylish bob! Er- just maybe spray some perfume to mask the smell…
Jingling the bursting coin purse in her hand, Odette can’t help but feel lucky that her best friend, Robin, agreed to meet her at the soirée instead of walking down together– even if she is running a couple minutes later than promised. It only felt natural to advertise the merchandise she was trying to sell, so, using a Comb of Vanity of her own, the first-year styled her hair into a loose curly updo, a few strands framing her face just right. After all, the customers students weren’t the only ones who needed to look good.
But Odette had gotten so caught up in her sales pitch that she didn’t even realize the time until her eyes practically bulged out of her head. She’s fifteen minutes late and still hasn’t even gotten dressed! Dashing back to her room, Odette quickly throws on her teal silk and chiffon dress, barely wasting a moment to run her fingers along the bronze embroidered leaves and flowers before throwing on her floral armlet. Luckily, her father’s pendant matches the dress, so she doesn't have to worry about finding a necklace to match since she’s- groaning at the time on the clock- thirty minutes late!
Odette is a little proud that she can confidently skip down the stairs two steps at a time without dying or breaking an ankle. In heels, no less! At the start of term, she thought she’d wind up in the hospital wing simply from facing her arch nemesis– the stairs of the Ravenclaw Tower.
Upon finally entering the Great Hall, Odette happily accepts a dance card and eyes the decoration appreciatively. She can hardly believe this is the same place she nearly choked on her breakfast earlier that week. Passing a table of food, the half-blood doesn’t hesitate to fill a plate with pastries, feeling absolutely famished. Pitching is hard work! After a moment of thought, Odette also fills a second plate…for Robin. With both hands full, the first-year skips grabbing a drink and hopes Robin had grabbed her one.
Skillfully moving through the crowd, Odette tries to bob and weave without spilling her plates while trying to track down her curly-haired friend. It doesn’t help that most people tower over Robin’s short frame on a typical day, but now, with everyone in the Great Hall at once, the witch is practically dwarfed by giants.
Feeling like she’s walked in circles, Odette has had enough and marches to the nearest table. Gently and reverently placing her food down, the first-year ignores the seated students, pulls out a chair, and stands on it. Even with the chair's added height, she can barely see over the tops of everyone’s head. Fed up, Odette sucks in a deep breath and bellows, “MARCO!!!!!”
