Stage 47: Unexpected Horticultural Activities

Few recalled the strangeness of a proliferation of myconoids.

Inspiration: Bleeding Tooth (Hydnellum peckii)

Weird weeds have been sprouting up all over the grounds. Ugly, twisted things with a pale stalk and these crimson pustules that could be best described as zit-like, that bleed when popped. Only, the dark scarlet fluid that escapes these plants has a foul, rotten stench that most closely resembles rotted meat. Whatever these plants are, they appear to be invasive and they are spreading. They are mostly found in the Forbidden Forest as well as the grounds near the border of the Forbidden Forest. Due to the number we are faced with, we are looking for a few extra hands to help us clear the grounds of these plants.

They appear to prefer shaded areas and remain close to the ground. The bright red pustules have thankfully made these plants easy to identify. Unnamed at this time, we are uncertain what they are but they have been choking out other adjacent plant-life and appear to be spreading at a rapid rate. These plants appear to be thus far harmless, the house elves have been attending to the grounds the best they can and thus far there have been no reported injuries associated with these plants. That said, and perhaps due to a abundance of caution, we ask that all students wear gloves when handling these plants until we have a better understanding of what they are.

No such fungal vegetation was found in this greenhouse, but something else was notable. It looked as if someone had broken into the greenhouse. A pane of glass was shattered, several plants were overturned.
