Leaving home
Her gaze focused on the glass of the window rather than at the scenary drifting by behind it, Sabrina gently chewed on the inside of her mouth just behind her bottom lip, pursing her mouth slightly, her thoughtful look completed with a crease of her brows.
The 'not-quite-snake snake situation' bugged her, the answer just at the tip of her tongue, just beyond the reach of searching thoughts. Unfortunatelly, neither of her friends seemed to know, so she had to work it out alone.
"Yeah well- no, yeah" her distracted brain managed to somewhat put together an answer to Nari's comment on snakes' necks, her nodding furthering her confirmation, even though just a minute ago she'd swear that snakes don't have necks and she had no idea what esophaguses nor esophagi were.
The voices around her took a backseat to her buzzing mind. Suddenly, the clouds cleared and the answer hit her like a brick in a face. Smile back on her lips she snapped her head back to her friends, her body rotating with it to face them better. "Slow-worm! A-ha!" she exclaimed triumphally, unknowingly interrupting her gryff friend. Beau suddenly shifted in her lap, bringing her attention to him again.
"Oh hey look-" she smiled as the plushie's ears flicked. Slowly coming to life, the teddy looked around, a searching expression reflecting in his glass eyes. Getting on his stubby feet, he wobbly swiveled around, facing his owner with outstretched arms, practically falling into hers. Bending down to wrap her own arms around his belly with a satistied humm, Sabrina tugged him up and off his little feet. Leaning back into her seat, the teddy half laid on her stomach, embracing her until inevitably numbing again, no sign of life left in him.

Avis stared numbly at the little bear, wrapping its arms around Sabrina. That was, in Avis' opinion, dumb. So were hugs in general. Hugs were for people who were weak enough not to be able to help themself. And the bear was somewhat creepy, unnatural. Stuffed animals weren't supposed to move, they were supposed to be human. Avis leaned back into her seat, away from the bear.
Finally giving up fully on her attempts to practice her clarinet, Avis pulled the case out from under her feet. Pulling the reed out of the mouthpiece, she wiped it on her leggings before putting it in its case. She yanked her cloth out of her case and tipped the clarinet upside down, dropping it through before pulling it out. Pulling the pieces apart, she slipped each one in its spot before shutting the lid and latching it shut. It disappeared into the depths of her satchel.
Shifting over to the window seat, Avis pulled her knees up and wrapped her arms around them, leaning against the window and staring at the rapidly passing scenery. The Scottish highlands passed in a blur, as Avis let her eyes unfocus, slipping out of sight and into her own thoughts.

XXXSabrina's teddy bear, Beau, suddenly stirred to life. His ears flicked as he climbed to his feet rather clumsily, giving Brie a simple hug before his body went still again, as if it had just died after fulfilling its last wishes.
XXXEonaria stared at the little bear, a slightly disturbed expression on her face. The concept had seemed adorable, but the way it moved and then just stopped had been... disquieting. "Oh," she voiced faintly. "That was... nice." It wasn't really, but if it made Sabrina happy, why not? Across the compartment, Avis had begun to clean and take apart her clarinet, storing it away before returning her gaze to the window.
XXXEonaria hummed slightly, glancing between the two Ravenclaws. Nothing really came to mind now, for what else was there to talk about? It would only grow more awkward. She kind of wished her cousin was here now. He could brighten any situation. Eonaria tugged her trunk out from under the seat, opening it to tug out Bewitched Baking.
XXXAfter reading it half of the book at the beginning of the year, she had pretty much forgotten about it. Perhaps it was finally time to finish it, not that it was particularly interesting, but because it would probably provoke a guilty conscience every time that orange cover caught her eye until she did finish it. She flipped it open to where she had last left off, beginning to read quietly. The steady rumble of the train under them kept a peaceful thrum.
