Speech -- Thoughts

Pam smiled, nodding her head in understanding. Her father preferred the daytime to the dark too, she knew. On the other hand, she herself liked the dark better and pretty much everything related to darkness. That happened to include the sky too.

"I love the night sky," she admitted, "If we look at it from up in the Astronomy Tower, it really is very pretty. And it's much clearer than what I've seen back in the muggle world. The stars and stuff are always visible." She shrugged and added, "The nighttime is pretty peaceful, I think. It's quiet, you know, compared to the rush and hubbub of the light."

She turned to look at Kaya as the girl spoke about her school. Pam was pleasantly surprised by the fact that Ilvermony also had houses, just like Hogwarts! She had assumed that the other schools wouldn't have houses. Looked like it was a pretty common division. She asked enthusiastically, "Oh, you guys also have 4 houses?! That's so cool! What are the houses called? And, what house are you in?" She added, longing to hear more about her school, "What does your school look like? Do you guys have the same classes like we do?"

Kaya smiled warmly. Night time was truly amazing. However, lately nights didn't bring her peace. They carried more worries and memories Kaya didn't want to have.

It's truly a wonderful time to look at stars. It's usually more calm and peaceful, less people and more nature. She nodded, speaking so softly. Was it still so? In terms of stars, definitely. And about peace? Pamela didn't need to know. Or at the very least Kaya didn't want to talk about it.

Thunderbird, Horned Serpent, Wampus, and Pukwudgie. I'm in Thunderbird. That's for adventurous and represents the soul. Kaya spoke with enthusiasm in her voice and eyes. The sorting ceremony is so cool. One of four statues will make a sound if chose the student. And if more than one chose, that person can decide where to go! She continued after a brief pause.

Thinking about how her school looked like, Kaya took a moment before answering. We have castle, not exactly like Hogwarts, but it's still a castle. There's a Snakewood tree at the courtyard as well. So it's really nice. Classes? I think we have basic subjects same as here. I'm not sure if we have something that's only taught in Ilvermorny. Kaya looked at Pamela, wondering if there was something different in their classes.

"What's a Pukwudgie?" Pam found herself wondering, more to herself than to Kaya. She had never heard of anything like that. Then again, she hadn't heard of a lot of magical creatures here. Not a lot of them were found in fantasy storybooks, which had basically been her only source of knowledge of this kind prior to coming to Hogwarts.

The Ilvermorny version of the Sorting Ceremony sounded pretty fascinating. Pam found that it felt vaguely familiar, wondering if she had heard of it from somewhere. However, the comparison came to her later on. Oh right, it sounds very similar to the choosing of magic knights squad in Black Clover... Okay don't get sidetracked.

"What do the other houses represent?" Pam asked curiously. She guessed that it would be more or less similar to what the Hogwarts Houses represent. Which one did she say she was in again? Thunderbird huh? She supposed that would probably be their Gryffindor.

Pam nodded at Kaya's words. She supposed the subjects in general would not be too different. It would be similar to different schools having the same subjects, right? Perhaps the same subjects could be called by different names though. She asked her, "Then, what's your favorite subject?"

It's a magical creature. You can see those in Ilvermorny. And the house is named after this creature. Maybe I could draw it for you some time. Kaya smiled. It would be easy to draw the creature. In fact, much easier than trying to explain as words were failing her.

One represents the body, another one stands for the mind. The last one is for the heart. All houses are some kind of mix of the houses in Hogwarts. At least from my understanding. She spoke enthusiastically. Kaya was fascinated by the history of her school and liked everything connected to it. What would be her house if she was in Hogwarts? She didn't know. But she doubted she would go to the brave ones. It was one of her traits, but far from other, stronger, ones. Perhaps it could be interesting to know. But she liked her school too much to even think about moving. Even if it was possible.

The next question made her think for a while before finally coming up with the answer. My favorite? I don't know. Perhaps it could be DADA? What about you? She wondered what could possibly be her favorite subject. DADA for Kaya was a way to learn how to defend herself and her friends. It was important as she never knew what to expect. The world was ever changing. Staying safe and keeping them safe too was important.

"Ooh, interesting..." Pam nodded, "Do you like to draw?" The houses seemed pretty interesting, she thought, different from the way the students at Hogwarts were separated into their houses. "Then... which of the houses represent each...uh, personality?" Pam fumbled over her words, unsure of what to call it, probably not personality. Is it better than parts of the human body...? She flashed the girl a sheepish smile, hoping she understood the question.

Pam wondered which of the houses she would go to. Body, mind, heart, and soul right? If thunderbirds were for the adventurous, then Pam would definitely not go there. She was way too lazy and way too fond of solid ground for 'adventurous'. She much preferred napping. She had known herself even before getting sorted that she didn't belong in Gryffindor.

"I like Astronomy a lot." she offered thoughtfully, "As I've already said, I like the sky. Other than that, I really enjoy transfiguration. It's amazing. And I guess I like charms?" She thought for a second, before steering the question in a different direction, "So...what are your ..hobbies? Do you have any magical book recommendations for me? I've been wanting to read some but have no idea where to start."

Sometimes. Kaya replied quietly. She preferred to spend more time outside rather than inside. As for the houses... Personality? She supposed it could be that, though she couldn't put the more suitable name for it. Horned Serpent is for mind. Wampus is for body, and Pukwudgie is for heart. She mused.

There was not much she could say else about it, so this would have to be enough. As the girl spoke about sky and charms, Kaya listened attentively. It will be adventures and discovery of the places. Also drawing, photography, and playing music. But mostly it's just something outdoor.

She wondered what was her most favorite and thought it would be adventures. She sighed. Kaya also enjoyed her time with friends. Those she cared about were the most precious ones in her life. And sadly it wasn't that much. Or, perhaps, it was something good? She wasn't sure.

She remembered then that she didn't reply to the one question. Was it books? It took her some more time to think about it. She read some of them, but it was far from a lot of them. I don't know what you would like to read about,, but for me history of Ilvermorny, I mean how the school appeared, was quite fascinating to read. And mind you history is far from my favorite. But it really depends on what is interesting for you. You could read about plants, animals, some stories, or even some biographies. You could just check Libra to see if something catches your attention.

Pam hummed in acknowledgement, attempting and failing at successfully linking the Ilvermony houses to the Hogwarts houses. I guess they are a mixture of different houses after all.

Pam could tell that the older girl liked to stay outdoors, and do stuff Pam would normally not prefer under usual circumstances. The girl seemed to like music too and Pam smiled at that. "I quite like music too!" She remarked, "Although.... I'm yet to be introduced to the Wizarding side of music." Pam would definitely look into magical music one day. It aroused her curiosity majorly, especially about how different it would be that muggle music.

Well that was a matter for another day.

"I quite like autobiographies." Pam remarked. She had read a fair number of autobiographies, the more notable ones she could remember being Black Beauty and Lone Fox Dancing. She had read Black Beauty when she was pretty young, while Lone Fox Dancing had come much later, during the last year of her stay in India with her father. She had, since then, gotten attached to Ruskin Bond's works. Well-written books, after all, were always a blessing for a person who liked to read.

Talking to Kaya has rather refreshed her, if she was being honest. Pam stood up, securing her book under her arm and flashed the girl a smile, "I should head back now. It was really nice meeting you." She waved her off, already starting to walk towards the school building, "Let's meet again sometime!"
