Kaya decided to walk around for a while. Staying in her bed wasn't something she liked, even this visit. Being there was making her more worried and have thoughts she didn't want to be thinking about now. So she changed her clothes quickly and went for a walk. There was no certain destination as she was slowly making her way to the grounds.

She had spent nice time with Yasha, but what made her have a lot of thoughts was her bestie. Meeting him was starting to feel like the best thing ever. She appreciated each moment with him. The image of him in Pyre was still fresh in her eyes, despite some days passing since that day. Kaya found herself overly worried about Amber for the first time since knowing her and hoped that this walking would help her distract and calm her mind. She needed it so desperately. Finally getting to the grounds, she looked around herself.

It was less crowded here, and the view was good enough to let her admire it. Kaya noticed someone else nearby and decided to try to talk. Maybe talking to someone else would give her a moment to distract herself enough. Hi. I'm Kaya Rose Bennett from Ilvermorny. What's your name? What are you reading? She spoke calmly, nearly emotionless. It was so unlike her, but probably it was expected, right?

Never do anything by halves if you want to get away with it. Be outrageous. Go the whole hog. Make sure everything you do is so completely crazy it's unbelievable...

Pam's book reading excursion was interrupted by a brown haired girl with an extremely emotionless face. Pam blinked, is she talking to me? She glanced around her to see if she could find someone else here, but she was the only person there currently. She pointed at hersself, standing up quickly, Who's this girl? Did I meet her before and do not remember her? Oh, that would be disastrous. She smiled at the girl uncertainly, "Uh...me? I'm Pamela Graham. Can I help you?"

She scanned the girl over, trying to remember potential situations where she might have met her, but then a thought occurred to her which left her feeling like an idiot. Wait, if I had met her before, she wouldn't have started off with her name. She shook her head, feeling rather relieved, before replying to her other question, holding up the front cover of the book for the girl to see, "It's one of my father's books. It's named Matilda. It's a muggle book though." She wondered if the girl was a pure-blood. Growing up around magic, she might not be interested in muggle books much, even if it was an excellent one.

Or in reading at all, for that matter.

Kaya realized how she must've being looking and attempted to smile again. But this time more lively. Nice to meet you. I was just wondering what you were reading. She kept a warm smile on her face, while sitting down near Pamela. Are you from Hogwarts? It's quite lively here during the ball.

Do you mind telling me more? I don't know muggle books, so it would be great if you could share more. She smiled softly. Despite being more into adventures,she still could sometimes be found with a book. It just had to be interesting enough.

Kaya looked around, finding peace in how this place was less crowded. So many students from different schools. Usually she'd be trying to be with the crowd, attempting to make new friends. Usually she'd be spending time with Amber or Yasha. And while she couldn't spend a lot of it with Yasha, lately time with Amber was making her more anxious.

Kaya still liked her bestie, but considering herself as wise, she had to find a way to calm herself down. It was surprising how different each of them were affected by the arrival day. She knew she was supposed to react differently, but as usual she chose to focus more on Amber. What else do you like to read? Maybe you could give me some recommendations? She asked Pamela, distracting herself from the thoughts once again. Could she even find those books in the library? Kaya didn't know, but perhaps it wasn't entirely impossible.

The girl seemed to realise that she looked..... unfriendly, and gave Pam a more sincere smile, sitting down next to her. "Yes, I am from Hogwarts." Pam nodded, in reply to the question. "I'm a first year. You?"

She glanced down at her book. Tightening her grip on it, she said, "Well, this one is considered to be somewhat of a classic by.....the previous generation. My father always told me it was a must-read for all book lovers." Honestly, Pam could see why. She had barely made it halfway through the book but she was already super invested.

A silence followed for a while, and Pam watched the girl who seemed to be deep in thought. She then asked her what books she liked to read, and Pam responded, "Well, currently most of my books are my dad's. There's this school series called 'Mallory Towers'.... I kinda stopped that midway to read this one. " Pam had it all figured out. She currently had four books totally, three from that series. When she went home for Christmas, she was going to get the rest of the books. It would last her till the end of the term.

I wish I could plan my studies so well too.

She turned to Kaya again, asking, "Well, what genre do you prefer? I guess I could give you recommendations if I read it too."

Kaya kept smile on her face and spoke with a soft kind voice. That's cool! I don't have many friends from Hogwarts. Actually I know only three people from here. I'm in my third year now. She paused, thinking how little she actually knew from Hogwarts. Maybe it will change some day. She didn't really mind not having a lot of friends from here. For most of the time they'd have to talk through owls and then could suddenly stop doing it.

Kaya smiled intrigued. I might try to search for it then. She didn't know if she was interested in this book, but she could try to read it if found. It sounds interesting. But why did you stop midway? I usually can't stop till I finish reading everything. That's if it's extremely interesting. Kaya spoke enthusiastically. She was genuinely intrigued by the girl's decision to stop midway.

I guess anything except comedy and romance. She looked at Pamela, thinking if there was anything else she didn't like. It seemed like these two genres were the only exception. She was never interested in reading anything connected to it. Unless it could be a letter from someone who was dear to her. What else do you like except reading? Kaya asked, interested to know more about the girl. Reading was nice, especially when there was a book that one loved. History books were the best if someone wanted to gain more knowledge. Also, I think I like to read about something that gives you more knowledge.

Pam's mouth formed an 'o' as the older girl told her that she had only formed three friends at Hogwarts, before she remembered that the girl wasn't from here, and Pam herself did not know any of the students from the other schools.

She decided to answer the book question. "Well, I do like to take a small break sometimes while reading a series. Although that only extends to one other book. Otherwise I might forget some details and the momentum breaks and I can't properly get back into the books, you know?"

Currently, Pam preferred reading series compared to stand-alones. She liked the fact that most good series could create a whole universe of their own, compared to stand-alones which...could not. After all, it would not be very convenient to have a book of 3000 pages. Pam knew for a fact that she would think a million times before reading such a book.

She hummed, nodding at Kaya's genre preferences. "I'm not a fan of standalone romance either," she agreed, "As for comedy, I'm afraid I haven't read a lot of that." She shrugged and added, "Then, how do you feel about detective books? I suppose you can read Sherlock Holmes, if you haven't that is. Have you heard of him? Among muggles, everyone knows him, even if they've never read a book in their life."

Kaya listened to Pamela and found that it all made sense. And then you'd have to read it from the beginning. I understand. She smiled and started thinking about books more. She never read non-maj books and she didn't know if she could even find it somewhere in Canada. So far she read only books about wizarding world. Something about history, about quidditch. Something she needed for a lesson. Kaya wasn't interested in spending a lot of time reading. She'd rather go out, have an adventure, explore something.

I should search for it then. I don't think I heard about him before. Kaya replied softly. Something so popular between non-maj wasn't always as well known for wizards. Kaya sighed hearing no answer on one of her questions but decided to not ask it again. She didn't know what to say else as talking about books wasn't the topic she could discuss for a long time. Kaya looked around and then glanced back at Pamela.

What's your favorite place in Hogwarts? I heard there are some secret passageways, did you ever use one of them? She could possibly offer Amber to go to explore it together. Maybe it would help to distract. Even if only for a while. It would be enough. Kaya would feel more relieved, but she didn't know if anything could help now.

Her favourite places in the School? Well, that was a pretty easy question to answer. Pam had a few places in the Hogwarts building that she liked a lot. Most of them were indoors though. Pam and outdoors did not go well together. Especially in the presence of the Sun. There was only one was an outdoors place she frequented.

Pam nodded enthusiastically, "I think my favourite place at school would be eother the Astronomy Tower or the Library! The Astronomy Tower provides an amazing view of the sky, specially at night. As for the library," she flashed the girl a grin, "Well, I like books...and it always smells nice. And it's quiet so, you get the idea." She stopped for a second and then added, "As for in the Hogwarts grounds, I guess mostly the Quidditch Training Pitch. I like Quidditch, although I'm not very good at it just yet."

She tilted her head at the girl, "What's your school like." Pam hadn't heard of Ilvermorny, until she had come to Hogwarts and found a book about the other Wizarding Schools in the Hogwarts Library. Back then, she had been surprised by the thought that other Wizarding Schools even existed. It seemed silly to her now. She had often wondered how different it would be.

Kaya looked at the sky and remembered how nice it was at night. Usually, she'd keep looking at stars and search for a moon. However, she didn't do it ever since arriving at Hogwarts this time. She sighed, thinking how great it must be to visit Astronomy Tower.

That's great! Do you like sky at night? I usually enjoy it more than during the day, however, I didn't look at it since coming here. She paused and looked at Pamela again. Library must be good if you want a quiet place. I guess I prefer finding quiet places outside of castle if the weather is good enough for it.

However, the girl's next question made Kaya think for a while before answering. Her school? It was similar to Hogwarts, she supposed. Ilvermorny? We have 4 houses too. Our common room is different though. There's one for two houses and another one for other two. Helps us to spend time together more. Sorting ceremony is so great and you can get wand at school if you don't have one yet. She didn't know what to say else so she just left it out. Even now, in her third year, she still enjoyed sorting ceremony a lot. It was wonderful how each statue would react. The entrance to the train was interesting too.
