Looking back, being booked and busy wasn't really healthy, both for Alyssea's mental and physical health. She had slow days, sure, but there would always be months where Alyssea just worked, worked, worked. Being a Racing Captain, Quidditch player, Headliner Reporter, and now a Healing Intern only exacerbated that in a way that, if it was the sports off-season, then she still had work at the Headliner Office and shifts at the Hospital Wing.

Oh well, what can you do? She already committed to it, and it's not like she hates any of her roles, either, so she stayed.

But on a day like this, when racing was in the morning and early afternoon and ball was in the late evening, she had to work fast but accurate. The track had been somewhat brutal, though not as much as the spring race last year. Still, the damage was enough that a few racers had to come in. Had she actually followed through with not going to the ball in the evening, Alyssea wouldn't have to rush. Oh well, what can you do?

Alyssea was mostly running around and seeing if anyone needed water and things like that. She couldn't administer any potions or handle severely injured students without Nurse Sabo. That was fine, of course.

With how small the Racing sphere was at Hogwarts, she could name a handful of the students sitting around aside from the Hufflepuffs. Piérre, Raizel, Aurora, Astra—

Wait, Astra?

Alyssea practically hop-skipped over to where Astra was sitting, getting her wounds looked at, and tapped her shoulder. "Astra! You never told me you made it to the Slytherin Broom Racing team! Congrats!" Alyssea looked at the wounds herself. She looked almost like Raizel, with a few scratches from the thorns and some bruising from whatever obstacle there was. "How did you find that track? It was pretty hard, wasn't it?"

Astra didn't remember leaving the track. That last obstacle. First she was okay, she could see Starkey way up ahead and the green and the blue all around her, and then she was off her broom by Ranvier. And here Astra thought former teammates meant something. Her vision went fuzzy and her brain felt like mashed potatoes and she couldn't string together a coherent thought. That was the last thing she remembered.

Before now, of course, waking up still a little foggy brained but feeling a lot better. The places where those demon wasp things had stung her didn't hurt so bad, and there were only a couple bruises and scrapes for her troubles. Good thing she wasn't going to the ball this evening, she felt exhausted.

There were a lot of faces, none of them focusing quite right for a second, and then everything came into sharp clarity and Astra was faced with a whole crowd of racers in the hospital wing, healer interns flitting around. Busy bees they were. There was one right beside her, asking a couple questions and having her sit up to look her over. She answered as she continued to observe, noticing the familiar faces of Raizel and Piérre directly across from her. She waved to them, much to the chagrin of her healer, saying "Hi! Did you guys have a good race?"

The snakelet felt a tap on her shoulder, and turned her head, not too quickly, to see her cousin Alyssea. She grinned. "Yeah, I made it- right before summer?" She registered the congratulations a few seconds later, her follow up "Thank you" running into the badger's next words. "The track was nice. I did pretty good I think. Until those demon wasp things got me. And then I think I fainted." A look of slight confusion had passed over her face as she tried to remember what exactly had happened. It melted off quickly, replaced by a more hopeful questioning expression. "Do you know who won?" She really really hoped it was her team.

Whatever happened in the race, Raizel still has trouble recalling but one thing is sure and that she had remained conscious all through it all surprisingly enough. Aside from that, the rest were pretty blurry. She had been awake for quite some time now, staring at the familiar ceilings of the hospital wing considering how she had a streak of visits during her first and second year at Hogwarts. The Gryffindor tried everything she could to recall but nothing was coming up so instead, she focused on something else that mattered the most than the results and that is her own performance.

Did she do well? Or was she just a burden to her team all throughout the race? She could remember how she had been blatched at the beginning which still ticks her off up to this point but there were small successes from what she could remember. Then again, even if things did turn out well, she shouldn’t just be lying about or loitering around here. She has plans to attend the ball and check it out even if she was going on her own but aside from that, if she hurries, then maybe she could still get in a practice or two. Yes, she just finished a race, yes she is exhausted and yes, she did get hurt but would those stop her? No. She has a goal that she is desperately trying to reach and she is not afraid to keep pushing herself just to reach that.

Right, she should-

The sight of Astra waving stopped her train of thoughts and from immediately hopping off her bed, making her wave back and then answering. “It was a good race.” At the time, she quickly switched back to her original plan and that’s to get out of bed only realizing that Alyssea was also there. “Oh, Leesi, you’re here too.” Why? Oh, right, healing internship. “Demon wasp?” Was there any of that sort during the race? She would need a lot of reminding as there are blank pages in her memory when it comes to it. Raizel then decided to join her cousins there, walking to where they are.

"Demon wasps?" Alyssea raised an eyebrow, trying to wrack her brain for the day's track. What on earth could... Her eyes immediately lit up with realisation. "Oh! You mean the mosps. Yeah, they're nasty. But I hear the malaclaws are worse, if you guys ever have to deal with them." Alyssea shrugged. While it would've been great to fly with the team, she was grateful to have not dealt with any attackers considering the ball was tonight. Just how bad could a mosp bite be? Probably worse than a mosquito bite.

Were wrackspurts on the track, too? Alyssea couldn't think of any other reasons for Astra to be so out of it. Still, she gave the girl a smile. "I haven't checked in with Avery and Vale yet since I've been here for most of the day, but I think I've heard from other racers here that you guys won! Congrats!"

Slytherin winning a race was obviously significant, considering they'd never won any since broom racing started a few years ago. Talk about the curse finally running its course. Someone was going to have a field day with that one in the Headliner office.

Sensing a quiet lull in the conversation, Alyssea clapped her hands together. "Anyways, can I get you guys anything? Water? Sweets? I think I had a few left on a table here somewhere." She leaned past the curtains to try catch a glimpse of said stash.
