Approved, MéabhIt was the summer of 2024, and Koko was at her grandfather's estate in France, surrounded by gardens and sky and, of course, countless potions ingredients.
Potions hadn't been her priority, but now that she considered herself all Quidditch practiced out, she needed something to do to distract herself, to prove to herself that she could do something more than Quidditch and still do a halfway-decent job at it. As such, she found herself in her grandfather's potions room, a room that was so impressive she almost understood why people might want to become portioners. Ingredients crowded themselves into shelves on the walls, old potions books leant against one another in nooks and crannies, and any cauldron she could ever need to use was in a separate drawer. All she needed to do was have a wand, two working hands and a brain that could make a functional potion.
She leafed halfheartedly through a recipe book, looking for something that was simultaneously difficult and not boring. The first thing she noticed was an invisibility potion, but she had no real use for that. Finally, she stopped flipping pages when the name Amortentia caught her eye. She had learned that one last year, and its reputation certainly preceded it. If she could brew it properly, she could have some simply to flaunt it.
With that decision in mind, she set to work. She pulled a pair of gloves over her hands and set up her work station before crushing 12 belladonna berries with the flat of a silver knife, carefully collecting the juice in a phial. She slowly tipped the phial's contents into one of her grandfather's mortars, using the knife to slide the skins and flesh of the berries to the side of the counter.
Moving on, she counted out three sprigs of lavender and then began to chop them roughly, finally adding them to the mortar. The heavy scent of lavender brought a small smile to her lips, one that faded as she focused on crushing the lavender and belladonna juice together. She paused momentarily, taking a copper cauldron and heating it over a fire, and then continued to crush the lavender and belladonna juice. Once it was rather pasty, she checked on the copper cauldron, and after ascertaining that it was the correct temperature, she scraped the paste into it.
She waited, unsure what 'fragrant' referred to—lavender in itself was really rather fragrant—and she decided that it was best to eyeball it. She sniffed slightly awkwardly, glad that no one else was in the room to witness such a thing, and finally she shrugged and uncorked her chosen bottle of wine. Perhaps the best thing about making this potion in France was that she had a rather large selection of French wines to pick from, obviously very many from the Chablis area. She had picked a light white wine, and now, she poured a third of the bottle's contents into the cauldron. It smelled... interesting, for sure.
Humming quietly to herself, she stirred thrice clockwise, and then she took note of the time on her golden wristwatch, ensuring that she would check back on this cauldron in seventeen minutes.
Now, she took a pewter cauldron from her grandfather's stash, and she poured another third of the wine into that cauldron. Did she really need to use that much wine? Was it for flavour? Refusing to mentally answer her question, she instead added one measure of pearl dust to the wine and stirred it thrice anti-clockwise. She glanced at her watch once again and found that, while she would come back to this cauldron in fourteen minutes, she had a few minutes until she needed to return to the copper one.
She took that time to stretch before dutifully, punctually returning to the copper cauldron nearly exactly seventeen minutes after she had left it. Koko glanced into the mixture and was relieved to see that it was light pink, and that it was, indeed, simmering. She counted out nine strands of Granian hair and added them to the mixture, and once again, she glanced at her watch.
She waited the rest of the fourteen minutes before returning to the pewter cauldron, to which she concernedly added the rest of the wine. Even if two-thirds of a bottle of wine could provide some very good flavour, she had to wonder if the amortentia potion would just taste like an oddly-flavoured bottle of expensive wine. What was the point of a potion if it just tasted like wine? Nonetheless, she began to tear the leaves from the sprigs of mint she had set aside, and she added the leaves to the cauldron. Mint and wine was definitely an interesting combination. She stirred seven times counter-clockwise before stirring twice clockwise, and she sighed when she realised she would have to wait eighteen more minutes.
Luckily, the copper cauldron finished simmering just before the pewter cauldron—her musing about wine must have saved her a minute—so Koko hurriedly took it off of the heat, moving quickly so that she could do the same for the now-finished pewter cauldron. She poured the pewter cauldron's wine-heavy mixture into the copper cauldron and then returned the copper cauldron to medium heat. She counted out four Alihotsy leaves and added them to the copper cauldron. Then, she scooped up the skin and flesh of the belladonna berries, added them, and stirred twice counter-clockwise. She set a lid on the potion and stepped away, taking a deep breath and looking at her watch with a frown. Forty-five minutes. Why had she done this to herself?
She spent the time by leafing through the potions book once again, trying to come up with an idea for her next concoction. Admittedly, looking through the logically-ordered recipes was rather interesting, especially since some of them had rather strange ingredients. Soon enough, forty minutes had passed, and she spent the five remaining minutes preparing the next steps of the potion. She raised the heat to high, and then she added the peacock feather, watching carefully for the potion to begin to bubble. It took it long enough, but as soon as it started, she removed the cauldron from the heat. Before it could cool down, she added the final measure of pearl dust, steeling herself, and then she began to alternate stirring clockwise and counter-clockwise until the mixture began to appear as the same colour as mother of pearl.
It took it long enough, but, eventually, it happened. Hardly able to contain her joy, Koko quickly grabbed for her wand and waved it over the potion, completing it. She collected its contents in two phials and proudly set them on the shelf above the countertop she was working on.

After brewing the amortentia, Koko had decided to keep going. The invisibility potion she had seen earlier came back to her, and she decided she might have a use for it eventually—she imagined it could be very fun to use during patrols, or if that failed, she could at least sell it to someone. What younger year didn't wish they were invisible at times?
The first step almost discouraged her. Three. hours. She glanced sadly at the chicken before her resolve hardened, and she found a size 4 cauldron and unceremoniously dumped it into the cauldron, pouring in some water and setting it over heat. It would boil for three hours, and during those three hours, she would have a much-needed cup of tea and a healthy session of staring forlornly out of the window. Finally, the time was up, and she joyfully made her way back into her now-beloved potions room. She would truly have to thank her grandfather for letting her use all of his things.
She used a sponge to remove the water from the chicken cauldron, wrinkling her nose as she did so, being careful to not dislodge water from the sponge. Sometimes these recipes confused her, not that the bar was all that high. She then removed the chicken remains from the cauldron and set them aside, still slightly confused.
She took a newly-cleaned silver knife and began to chop the six cherries. Satisfied that the pieces of cherry were coarse enough, Koko slid them into the cauldron, and as she glanced at the next step, she understood the chicken water bit. Oh, how she despised those two words next to each other. She squeezed the chicken water back into the cauldron, thoroughly regretting her life decisions. She stirred thrice clockwise and allowed the potion to simmer on low heat, still puzzled over the importance of chicken water.
The potion's colour changed to purple shortly after she began allowing it to simmer, something that she was grateful for. However, as she read the next step in the potions book, her heart sank into her stomach, and she bit back a swear. This potion was going to be the death of her. Spider legs!?
Well, if they were legs, then the spiders were dead and therefore could not hurt anyone. Koko scoured the shelves for a jar of spider legs, and upon finding one, gulped. She poured the entire jar into a mortar and began to grind the legs into a fine powder. She could reimburse her grandfather for this if he wanted her to, but she was not going to touch the legs while they were still legs.
With shaking hands, she poured two measures of leg powder into the cauldron, stomach churning as she did so. Disgusting. Horrible. Terrifying. She stirred once clockwise while taking a shuddering breath.
The beetle eyes didn't bother her nearly as much. Her hand was far steadier as she poured in three measures of beetle eyes. Nothing, absolutely nothing, could compare to the horror of spider legs.
At least the mixture was bubbling. That was a good sign.
She added a drop of the essence of demiguise before happily allowing the potion to simmer for twelve minutes. The time went by a lot more quickly now that she had waited on the chicken for three hours, and it turned silver in colour. After the twelve minutes passed, Koko waved her wand over the mixture to finish it, and then she poured it into phials to collect it.

Potion | Asklepion Ambrosia
Ingredients required | Size 4 cauldron, Size 5 cauldron, Pliers, Salamander Blood, Bezoar, Unicorn Horn, bunch of Betony, Essence of Dittany, Centaury Leaves, Dragon Liver, teaspoon of Giant Purple Toad Warts, Doxy Venom, Acromantula Venom, Venomous Tentacula Leaves, Wormwood Essence, Hemlock, Gryphon Feather, Blood (RP element as it is my own)
Roleplay (200 words min) |
A locking enchantment was muttered as he held his elderwood wand against his classroom's door handle. He had prepared his brewing station hours before, but had to finish grading before he could continue with his work. It had been a while since he brewed, and while he wasn't a master at it, he was at least proficient enough.
Aamon Athanatos' dolls had become bothersome, untouched by common counter-curses and protection charms, the former hit wizard had to resort to different methods to vanish the damn things.
He started with a size four cauldron, pouring six fluid ounces of Doxy Venom and three fluid ounces of Acromantula Venom inside. With quick precision, the Frenchman waved his elderwood wand over the mixture before raising the heat to medium. He counted carefully under his breath, waiting for the prescribed 90 seconds. The cauldron's spoon was stirred, touching every side of the cauldron. He counted another 30 seconds.
Orion silently watched as the two Venomous Tentacula Leaves he dropped into the mixture floated to the bottom before raising the heat to high. Picking back up the spoon, he spun the spoon counterclockwise and carefully counted each time the mixture had been fully mixed, until he had reached sixteen.
Eight minutes of waiting was easy enough when you had a cat demanding your attention. Bijou was more than happy to keep her owner distracted. She was not, however, pleased when he turned his attention back to the mixture, removing it from the heat. Four Hemlock flowers sunk into the mixture, before he waved his wand over it once more, and placed the cauldron cover over it. The mixture would be hidden beneath his desk for the next six days.
---
It was witching hour, and 144 hours had passed since he had completed the first part of the potion. The size four cauldron still remained covered as he set up his larger, size five cauldron. Twelve fluid ounces of Salamander Blood were poured into the bottom before he raised the heat to high. He waited until he heard the fluid start to boil and pop before quickly reducing the heat back down to a simmer. Dropping the Bezoar from a foot above was easy enough, given his height, but the blood splashing out of the cauldron was less than pleasant.
He spent the eighteen minutes of wait time crushing a unicorn horn and twenty-one betony petals to into a fine powder using a mortar and crush into a fine powder. He used a pair of pliers to remove the Bezoar with quick precision. The Frenchman then added three pinches of the powdered mixture he had just finished.
The next part was perhaps the most ridiculous requirement: stirring the mixture five times while alternating clockwise and counterclockwise and counting three heartbeats between each rotation. Even Orion had to concentrate to ensure he did the step correctly. He was more than happy when he let the mixture sit for three minutes.
Next was the essence of dittany, which he added two drops of. The count of eighteen was also easy enough, followed by four centaury leaves, uncut and unripped. It was the dragon liver that was unpleasant, but still manageable. The liver's blood and bile were hand squeezed into the large cauldron before it was set to the side.
Orion raised the heat to a low-medium, withdrawing the Bezoar with his pliers as soon as the mixture started to boil. A teaspoon of giant purple toad warts followed, and the mixture was stirred counterclockwise three times before the professor allowed the concoction to simmer for 22 seconds.
He stepped towards the still covered first part of his potion and slowly removed the lid, and carefully poured the mixtures together before reducing the heat back down to a lower setting. Another 21 minute snuggle session with Bijou as he allowed the potion to brew.
Now, for the unfun part. He waved his wand over the top of the mixture, before digging into his pocket to withdraw a sharp knife. Without even flinching the Frenchman dug the blade into the palm of his hand, watching as crimson bloomed and streaked down his flesh. His free hand transferred the Gryphon/Griffon Feather into his wounded hand and squeezed, allowing his blood to drip down from the feather into the cauldron. Slowly, he counted to 11. He quickly discarded the feather afterwards, his wand waving over the mixture to complete it.
The cauldron was capped afterwards, the potion ready for use.

Potion: Potion of Dreamless Sleep
Ingredients required: Pot with lid, Standard size 2 cauldron, 1 bunch of Sage, 1 Snake, 4 strands of Unicorn Hair, 3 Rose Petals, 1 bottle of Wine, 2 Billywig Stings
Roleplay (554/200)
ReducioHogwarts, October 31.
Astrea did not often dream. In a lifelong fit of complete rationality, she often spent most of her sleeping hours caught in blissful non-existence. What few dreams she did have bordered on bizarre and incomprehensible, details quickly forgotten despite their lingering sentiments. Today, in the waking aftermath of fantastical unreality, Astrea was not pre-emptively brewing for the night's candied festivities, but for many more days of endless research and toil. Despite the term’s fresh start, her N.E.W.T.s loomed in the middle distance. Where skill and memory met expertise, she could not afford untested mastery.
Despite her academic ambition, however, even she had to submit to the necessary evils of potion-making. Temporarily lacking in the comforts of Cedarwood Castle’s servanthood, where the foulest elements of preparation could be handled for her in advance, Astrea was instead trapped in Hogwarts’ imitation of self-sufficiency. Gloved and aproned appropriately, she began the unfortunate task of butchering a snake by removing its head, fangs and skin. She then made a thin incision down its middle. From this, she promptly discarded and thoroughly washed away the remnants of its exposed innards. Once her house mascot had been well-cleaned of blood, she sliced it into small chunks and began cooking it in her pre-heated pot. The medium-high heat sizzled on contact with the browning meat, letting off a strange, gamey scent unfamiliar to the pureblood. She, much preferring the delicate science of baking, often left cooking to the kitchen elves— of this, nothing as strange as snake had ever crossed her in anything more than a soup. Even so, with an entire bottle of wine emptied into the pot, no singular step of potion-brewing could be equal to either art in comparative appeal.
Between both fire and the weight of Astrea's vigilant eye, the mixture began to bubble slightly. With a wave of her wand, she lowered the heat before carefully adding 4 unicorn hairs. She stirred twice clockwise and, covering the pot with its lid, set a mechanical timer for 20 minutes. As the potion simmered away, she took her time roughly chopping a bunch of sage and tidying her workspace. Once 20 minutes had elapsed, she temporarily lifted the lid, added the sage, and once more left it to simmer for another 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, she removed the pot from the heat and placed it on a nearby trivet. While it cooled, Astrea began to heat her cauldron on the same medium flame and carefully tipped the liquid of her potion into it. The recipe did not require a strainer, yet her usage of a spoon to filter the snake meat and sage proved reluctantly sufficient enough to excuse a lack of efficiency. From her once-butchered snake came two snake fangs and, alongside its addition, two billywig stings. Thrice counter-clockwise did she stir, a single wave of her wand preceding a precise 17 minutes of waiting. With such effort, Astrea preferred not to waste her precious time and resources due to something as amateur as an over-brewed moment of inattention. Immediately at the timer's chime, she added three rose petals and turned off the heat. Each floating petal slowly flooded with liquid, finally submerged after a short moment of patience. With a wave of Astrea's wand to complete it, the potion finally bloomed into a vibrant purple.

Potion: Essence of Dittany
Ingredients required: 1 fluid ounce of Dittany Extract, 2 Shrake Spines, 10 fluid ounces of Water, 3 tablespoons of Flobberworm Mucus, 3 measures of Standard Ingredient, 2 Dittany Leaves
Roleplay (404/200)
ReducioHogwarts, November 1.
Following the dreamless sleep potion, Astrea sought to supplement both her asociality and the wizarding world's danger with a restorative potion. In truth, she held no special affection for healing— as a duellist, despite her designated tendency towards reparifors, her tolerance for injury resulted not in prudent avoidance but grim desensitization. What else was pain upon the piste but a necessary evil of lethal competition?
Despite her characteristic indifference, however, she was also far too responsible to skip (un)necessary post-duel medical checks. At the very least, revising her curriculum and familiarizing herself with various tinctures and potions offered some purpose past academic worth. Skipping past even a scant portion of medical examination appealed far more than practising an impractical brew that would remain forever unused upon her shelves.
With her sleeves tied up and ingredients identified, she added a fluid ounce of dittany extract to a cold cauldron. As the liquid settled to cover the bottom of the cauldron, Astrea began preparing the Shrake spines with a mortar and pestle. Once the spines had been crushed into a coarse powder, she added it to the cauldron and started the burner at a high temperature. Mindful of the lurid flames licking up the sides of the cold metal cauldron, Astrea used her wand to wave over the dissolving mixture. She then set a timer for 15 minutes, leaving the brewing potion to reduce into a more concentrated serum.
15 minutes later, with her workspace cleaned and cleared away for the next portion of potion-making, Astrea lowered the heat and added a measured portion of magicked water. The water sizzled on contact with the untouched sides of the cauldron, left bare by evaporation and no longer as strongly fuelled by the medium-sized flame. She stirred 3 times counterclockwise, added three tablespoons of viscous flobberworm mucus and continued another five times. 3 measures of standard ingredients prompted one more stir, this time in a clockwise motion to incorporate the powdery herb mix into the liquid mixture. As the potion settled into a more homogenous brew, she extinguished her flame and added two freshly picked dittany leaves. Once they had slowly sunk to the relative bottom of the mixture, Astrea waved her wand over it one last time to imbue it with magic.
Green smoke rose from the completed potion, trapped under the vial's cork as Astrea bottled it and tied a decorative white ribbon to its neck.

Potion: Dizziness Draught
Ingredients required: 3 Measures of Firewhiskey, 4 Woodlice, 2 Sprigs of Skurvy Grass, 2 Spider Legs
Roleplay (368/200)
ReducioHogwarts, November 28.
Well into her seventh year and nearly 18, Astrea now had the distinguished privilege to buy her own firewhiskey. Perhaps exciting for some, the personal expense was a mere convenience now that she was supplementing her studying with additional practice. The Dizziness draught was not often within her review books, partially due to her necessary lack of it and partially due to its humiliation. It had felt strangely criminal to ask favours from an intermediary, as if she was nothing more than a rebellious teenager striking out against the law. Astrea, lacking worthy motives to dissent from her position in authority like many of her pureblooded former peers, could not rightly be considered anything but ever-dutiful. No, with a potion recipe to review, it was clear that she had no desire to whet her tongue on alcohol from the likes of the Leaky Cauldron without further company.
She poured three measures of firewhiskey into her cauldron and raised its heat to an immediate boil for half a minute. Counting 30 seconds, the strong smell of warmed alcohol continued to permeate her working area even after the flame had been reduced. She then ground four brittle woodlice into a fine, smooth powder and pasted it with two sprigs of scurvy grass before scraping it into the steaming firewhiskey. After stirring three times counter-clockwise, Astrea waved her wand over the mixture and set a timer for a safe, if not slightly awkward 37 minutes. As her mixture brewed under low heat, she tidied up her workspace and, after pre-emptively chopping her spider legs into small pieces, set to rereading her potions textbook.
After this initial bout of waiting, she scooped up her spider leg pieces with the flat of the knife and added them to the cauldron. Once more stirring counterclockwise four times, Astrea waited another 5 minutes before waving her wand over it one last time. From fumes alone, the lingering scent of boiled alcohol and still-warm potion was enough to make her feel rather faint. This, she supposed while pointedly corking her creation for later study, was the point. She'd need to air out the room later, far after the effects of a successful brewing session left her.

Potion: Calming Draught
Ingredients required: 4 Sprigs of dried Lavender, 3 Chamomile Petals, 1 Crocodile Heart, 3 Sprigs of Peppermint, 2 Measures of Standard Ingredient, 1 Poppy Head
Roleplay (396/200)
ReducioHogwarts, December 11, 2024.
It was strange— no, near concerning how many of Astrea's learnt recipes involved some measure of hidden malice, whether in intention or administration. To think that she walked the halls alongside budding criminal minds and that their curriculum was but an enabler. It was no wonder that every grandly-held event ended in disaster. For years now, since October of 2021, the pureblood had been absent from every bi-annual ball and non-essential summer excursion. Grateful for her infrequent but gradual return to pureblooded propriety present within higher society circles, she had little use for Hogwarts' imitation.
Yet, for all her disapproval, the rather... questionable collection of vials upon her shelves pointed at some greater, non-existent scheme. Astrea was no exception to the all-encompassing lethality of wizarding expertise. If only to compensate for this, she sought to end the term's review with a more understandable potion than many others-- the calming draught.
Plucking at a white chamomile flower sourced for this very potion, Astrea crushed three petals in a mortar and pestle with three sprigs of lavender. Once the flowers had been finely powdered, she added four measures to her empty cauldron. She then produced a large crocodile heart from a separate container, pre-drained of blood and patted dry beforehand. Terribly cold and rather heavy for its place upon a cutting board, Astrea made short work of dicing it into smaller cubes before adding it to the cauldron. With the cubed heart now coated in pulverized flowers, she stirred it once and raised the flame to high heat. After a minute, she lowered it to a more manageable level. The powdered remains of three peppermint sprigs joined the strange, dry-toasted mixture. Five times counter-clockwise, she stirred before leaving it to brew for slightly over an hour.
After resting for an hour and 10 minutes under medium heat, Astrea returned from her nearby studies to lower the flame yet again. She then added two measures from a satchel of Standard Ingredient, stirring three times clockwise to incorporate the flaked herbs and the coarsely ground remains of a dried poppy head. Now more resembling a potion despite its initial peculiarity, Astrea prepared the cauldron for a final burst of high heat before extinguishing the burner entirely. It remained bubbling, still hot from its shifting temperature requirements, as she stirred the mixture three times clockwise and waved her wand over it.

IC DATE OF BREWING: November 23 2024.
—
It was ten at night, and Clark, Simon and Ben have all gone to their beds. Maybe they were going to sleep, Octavius could only hope. He opened the door to the basement and walked down the stairs carrying the new ingredients that Simon and Ben got him.
He tried to be as careful as he possibly could as he took each step down, alternating his feet. Otherwise, he might end up falling and shattering and destroying the ingredients and most importantly, himself. When he reached the bottom, the floor, he turned around the bannister and placed the ingredients on the small side table.
He walked over to his seventh year notes for Potions and flipped through until he saw something that he found rather intriguing, but it was flagged with a yellow sticky note with the date and text ‘August 23rd 2024: Eggs Garden’. Hate Potion was what it was.
Okay, why not? He looked at the ingredients that he needed and would grab what was necessary off of the shelves. The first thing he needed was a standard size three cauldron, which he had over in what he called the ‘Cauldron Corner’. He would take off the standard size two cauldron and replace it with the standard size three cauldron.
The second thing he needed was dragon blood, and more specifically, eleven fluid ounces. The third was five fluid ounces of Ethanol. Only idiots would drink it… there’s a reason he did not keep it in his bathroom! Clark was that idiot sometimes. He looked at the side table and checked their labels, seeing that they were marked with Dragon Blood. He grabbed it and placed on the bottom steps of the stairwell. He walked to his shelves and looked for a bottle that said Ethanol. He grabbed it and placed it at the bottom of the stairs as well.
Next, he saw that he needed four fluid ounces of explosive fluid and three tablespoons of acromantula venom. He kept both of them together in the bathroom upstairs close to the toilets. The reason? He just felt like it’d be safer there, even if it wasn’t. He lightly jogged up the stairs, opening the door to the basement and walked quietly into the carpeted bathroom. He tiptoed his way towards the vials of explosive fluid and acromantula venom.
While he was upstairs though, he figured he’d check on his sons. Well, Clark specifically. He trusted Simon and Ben more than he did Clark. He left the bathroom. He quietly and slowly opened the door to Clark’s bedroom, sticking his head through the gap and checked to see if Clark was sleeping.
He was. Could he finally trust Clark? Maybe, one could only hope.
He quietly closed the door and made his way down the stairs. He placed the exploding fluid and acromantula venom at the bottom step, and noted that he needed to obtain two more ingredients. He could easily just get one of these off of his shelf though, instead of having to go back upstairs. He saw that he needed five rat spleens and the two measures of the rotted Doxy Eggs. He would get just the rat spleens off of the shelves and place it at the bottom steps of the stairs. The rotted Doxy Eggs were a whole ‘nother story.
—
Rewind to August 23rd 2024. He had intended on making a Hate Potion at some point, but he figured it’d be a little sooner than exactly three months, but he still plan on making it. He grabbed two measures of nonrotten doxy eggs off of his shelf and walked upstairs to go outside the front door and he dug into the garden by the driveway a bit. He dug deep enough for the eggs to be covered instead of sticking out of the ground.
He went back inside.
—
November 23rd 2024. Exactly three months later and he needed to get the doxy eggs. But where were they? He knew they were buried. He looked at the yellow sticky note and the writing on it, seeing the word garden. He realized it was buried by the driveway in the garden. He walked up the stairs, grabbing a little trowel. He opened the door, feeling the cool breeze of the dark night hit him.
He walked a little closer to the driveway where the garden was ending, and stuck the trowel into the cold ground. He began to dig lightly, feeling the need to chisel through some hard chunks of dirt. He kept going until he got the doxy eggs, seeing that they looked very rotten. He would take the rotten eggs and leave the trowel behind for him to pick up in the morning. He walked inside, closed the front door and walked down the stairs again, putting the rotten doxy eggs into a small container. Those were two measures of doxy eggs, but rotten.
Now, for the super fun part of brewing the potion, brewing it. He preheated the cauldron to high and poured all eleven fluid ounces of Dragon Blood. He then added three tablespoons of acromantula venom into the cauldron, and stirred six times clockwise. When he had finished stirring clockwise six times, he would leave it to cook for eight minutes.
In the meantime, he grabbed a blade he stored in the basement, and grabbed five rat spleens. He cut the rat spleens along the middle but did not slice them in half, he left them connected with a tiny bit of tissue remaining on their body. By the time he finished carefully cutting the rat spleens, the eight minutes were up, and he would add five fluid ounces of Ethanol into the cauldron, and then add the five cut rat spleens into the brew.
He stirred the cauldon six times counterclockwise and then left it to cook for exactly 9 minutes and 45 seconds. When the time was up, he turned down the heat and set it to low.
He then added four fluid ounces of Explosive Fluid to the cauldron, and stared at the poor rotten doxy eggs as he placed them under the flat side of his blade to crush them. As they were crushed, they were added to the cauldron and the brew was left to simmer for seventeen minutes. When the seventeen minutes were up, he waved his wand over the cauldron.
He turned off the heat and started to pour in the brew into the vials. He looked at his notes from his seventh year and saw that he had to allow it to ferment for eighteen to twenty-one days. He would do so, but rather for twenty-one days. He stored it in the highest cabinet in the kitchen, behind the cups that Clark hated using.
The fermentation would be done December 14th.

Koko was supposed to be a good person, and she did pride herself on her compassion, but she also was no stranger to pride, nor envy, nor wrath, nor sloth, but least of all avarice.
After hearing that there was a growing market for amortentia among the students of Hogwarts, it was like Koko was a moth to a flame that was the stupid 'love' potion. She began to read about it more often and then finally sucked up her pride and owled her grandfather, requesting one of his best bottles of chablis, before reaching out to her father, mother and aunt for ingredients. It was better to keep it on the down-low lest they assume Koko was brewing it for herself, a notion that was surely believable despite being surely untrue.
She set up camp in the potions classroom and lazily ensured she had all the required ingredients and supplies. Then, she got to work.
Her movements were practised this time, and she refused to question herself as she used the flat of a knife to crush 12 belladonna berries, methodically extracting the juice and ensuring it went into her mortar all while sliding the skins and flesh of the berries aside. She counted out three sprigs of lavender and chopped these, too, quickly adding their chopped remains to the mortar and beginning to crush them together with the belladonna berry juice. Once the mixture had formed a decent-enough paste, she scraped it into a copper cauldron that she'd heated up before crushing the berries, and she readied the chablis.
She still firmly believed that good wine was the only thing that made the 'love potion' even somewhat renowned. But that didn't mean she wasn't going to capitalise on others' ignorance if she could. It was good wine, after all; that had to be worth something.
She was humming to herself by the time the mixture smelled fragrant enough to warrant a third of the bottle of wine, which she poured in with very little gusto. She stirred it clockwise three times and then readied the pewter cauldron after glancing at her watch to mark the time.
She really missed being able to have a gramophone near her while she worked, but she supposed it was best to work without any distractions. She poured in another third of the wine, this time into the pewter cauldron. She measured the pearl dust in a manner that could only be described as practised. With a wave of her hand, she let the powder fall into the pewter cauldron, stirred counterclockwise, and once again checked her watch.
The mixture in the copper cauldron was well on its way to turning a bubblegum pink, but as she was meant to wait for seventeen minutes, Koko idly checked her watch and finally, once the last two minutes had passed, she measured out nine strands of Granian hair and added them to the mixture. She glanced at her watch, noted the time, and then waited the rest of the 14 minutes for the pewter cauldron mixture.
She lifted the bottle of chablis once again and poured the rest of its contents into the pewter cauldron, smiling as the aroma filled her workstation. She easily tore the leaves from the sprigs of mint and added them to the mixture, stirring it seven times counter-clockwise and twice clockwise — and then it was time to wait.
The process was much easier now that she had done it once before. The waiting, however, was not. Koko tapped her foot as she waited for the sorry excuse of a love potion to finish simmering, as the time was up for each respective cauldron, she would move it off of the heat. She poured the contents of the pewter cauldron into the copper cauldron, returned the copper cauldron to medium heat and added 4 whole alihotsy leaves. Then, she took the belladonna skins and flesh from where she had pushed them aside, and she slipped them into the potion, stirring counter-clockwise two times.
She covered the potion, checked her watch, and then left for a few moments to grab a cup of tea and some of her homework, which she worked on as she waited the 45 minutes before she could continue. Once that time had passed, Koko raised the heat to high and added the peacock feather. To her pleasure, the mixture began to bubble relatively quickly, so she removed it from the heat and added a measure of pearl dust as the recipe required. She wore a small smile as she alternated between clockwise and counter-clockwise stirs, watching as the potion came together and began to take on its characteristic mother-of-pearl sheen. She waved her wand over it to complete it and then began to pour it into phials.
This was relaxing. Maybe she would have to do it more often.

She wasn't going to use it. She wasn't going to use it. She wasn't going to use it.
Aly repeated this mantra to herself over and over, sometimes mentally and sometimes verbally, from the moment she made the decision to brew it. After all, it was the reason she had said yes after literal months of wrestling with the ethical question of if even brewing it was okay - because sure, she might be putting ingredients in a cauldron and stirring, but she wasn't going to dose anyone or anything. That was well outside her purview and intent. Aly was not that kind of person, or at least she assured herself as such as she put her new copper cauldron over a medium-temperature flame and set out all of her ingredients upon the desk in the potions classroom: alihotsy leaves, berries of belladonna, granian hair, lavender and mint, a peacock feather, pearl dust, and, last of all, the bottle of wine she'd purchased in Knockturn back on New Year's. The finished brew, if it succeeded, would not find its way into anyone's drink or food, or otherwise pass their lips.
But she just... she just wanted to know what it smelled like.
It had started in October with the fall ball, taking the antidote in a crowded Great Hall, wondering if she was ever really in love at all. Finding out that her feelings were true had hurt more than the day's earlier spray of debris to the face, and ever since then, it had lingered on the back of her mind - the thought that if she could bring about a potion to dispel a fabrication of love, she could absolutely correctly brew the one to create said fabrication.
She pulled her trusty knife, which had also accompanied her to that fateful ball, and plucked a dozen berries from the belladonna plant to crush them with the flat of the blade. Juice scraped into the nearby mortar and the flesh and skin, crushed and bleeding, set to the side, she added three sprigs of roughly chopped lavender - chopped by the sharp side, this time - to the same mortar and crushed them together with the pestle until a vaguely purplish paste had formed in its bowl.
In the preheated copper cauldron, as sparkling and new as it had been the day she had purchased it over the winter holiday just a few months before, the paste splatted with an ugly, flat sound as Aly used her blade to scrape it from the mortar. It wasn't long before she could hear it sizzling in the metal stomach and smell it in the air, a fragrant mix of florals with the slightest bitter tinge of poison, not unlike the bella donna with whom she herself had tangled in a Finnish kitchen the previous summer. She measured the wine into thirds and poured one of the trio into the cauldron, then stirred three times clockwise and set her watch for seventeen minutes. Not one second more nor less.
Then December's end, after months of thinking and a close call of confession, had brought a trip to Knockturn for the first time in the young Ravenclaw's life. A teenage sneak into the darkest alley in London was not unheard of, nor was one with the intention to purchase alcohol, but it was usually to drink when the clock struck twelve, not with which to brew. A chance encounter in the gloom of the shoppe had done nothing to dissuade her from her purchase, though it had encouraged her to get out as quickly as possible, back to her life, as cruel as it may have been.
The minutes passed as quickly as they had that New Year's Eve, and meanwhile, Aly focused on the secondary cauldron of trusty pewter nearby, pouring the second of the maroon trio and measuring out a single spoonful of glistening pearl dust to add into the mix. Three stirs in the opposite direction as before, a single set to simmer, and fourteen minutes on the clock to go left Aly returning to copper. The red of the metal too pale for her hair, the pink of the potion within too incompatible with her pale complexion, Aly counted out nine strands of whitish granian hair and noting down the time once more, mental maths doing jumping jacks and hurdles and various other track-meet activities to try to run quickly enough to set the twenty-two minutes for copper in contrast to the counting-down fourteen of pewter.
When a baker's dozen, plus one, had passed as well, the final third of wine splashed into pewter, leaving Aly to rip mint leaves from their stem as harshly as it felt as her heart had been ripped from her chest. When enough had been added, she added her standard wooden spoon and stirred seven times counter and then twice clockwise, leaving eighteen minutes to count down as the previously set twenty-two ticked further along.
January had truly been the turning point as glistening mother-of-pearl liquid set its eyes upon Aly for the first time, or perhaps it was the other way around, but either way, it was love at first sight if the potion could have as much effect visually as it had when consumed. Ever since, especially with the side fancyings here and there in these last months, it had overtaken her thoughts, eating away at her at odd and the most inopportune of times. She had not gotten a whiff when on the photoshoot with her boss, the snowball fight interrupting her only opportunity. She still wanted to.
Copper and pewter off the heat, having simmered enough, Aly carefully wrapped spare fabric round her hands and picked up the hot pewter, lifting it above the copper and pouring its contents inside of its reddish mate. Setting the now-full copper cauldron to medium heat, Aly plucked four whole leaves of alihotsy from the pile and added them as-is to the cauldron's contents, then turned and used her knife and one hand to scrape-hold the earlier-discarded flesh and skins from the belladonna berries into the brew as well. Her time in the kitchen had clearly paid off in full, in skill at least. The lid atop the cauldron, Aly set a mental timer for a quarter less than an hour and prepared herself to wait with the flipping of pages.
Quidditch Through the Ages annotations usually waited for no one, but when three-fourths of the hour had passed, it was hastily set down and the heat of the lone cauldron left raised to high by our resident brewer. Though this was by no means an easy potion, it seemed that her team's triumph in successfully brewing a restricted concoction in the tourney last fall had done wonders to raise her spirits and boost her ego when it came to this particular course and its admittedly difficult work. Aly added the peacock feather and stared daggers at the cauldron until the liquid inside began to bubble (whosoever said a watched pot never boiled?), then took it off the heat and added the last measure of pearl dust. To combine the shimmery substance with the liquid, she alternated stirs of clockwise and opposite, back and forth and back and forth, until the colour had spread not only from the well-incorporated and now-invisible dust but also to the rest of the potion as well. The wave of her wand finished what had truly been a long time coming.
She took a deep inhale.
March marches on, known to all but a friend to none.
Vials of Amortentia clinked in Aly's pocket as she left the Potions classroom.
But she did not intend to use them.
Aly repeated this mantra to herself over and over, sometimes mentally and sometimes verbally, from the moment she made the decision to brew it.

Potion Brewing Form
Encyclopedia Link | Sere Nade
Potion | Bruise Removal Paste
Ingredients required | Murtlap Tentacles, Honey, Bubotuber Pus, Seashells, Flobberworm Mucus
RP (WC 423/200)
ReducioThe first potion in the second year. Sere Nade will start with Bruise Removal Paste. This potion is a potion that was taught during first year, but she only felt the importance of having this potion after she started exercising regularly. There must be bruises in some places after the training she did and she felt that starting with this potion was the right thing to do, while also recalling her memory and skills after such a long Summer Holiday.
Sere took out the ingredients from her enchanted satchel: Murtlap Tentacles, Honey, Bubotuber Pus, Seashells, and Flobberworm Mucus then placed it on the brewing station. After washing her hands and making sure the tools were clean, she started by heating the cauldron on medium heat, waiting for 10 minutes, then opening the lid of the jar containing Murtlap Tentacles and putting 3 of them into the cauldron. Sere took 1 jar of Honey and put it into the cauldron. Her hands then deftly took the ladle and stirred the ingredients in the cauldron 5 times, clockwise. After that, she put on protective gloves and took the cauldron off the fire.
Okay, so far so good. Still with her gloves, Sere measured 2 fluid ounces of Bubotuber Pus and put it, all the way into the cauldron, then with the ladle stirred it again 3 times, this time counter-clockwise. She brought the cauldron back onto the fire, took off the protective gloves, took out her wand from under her robe and waved it above the cauldron.
Sere turned the heat down to low heat and let the potion simmer for exactly 60 minutes. While waiting, Sere looked through the textbook and considered which potion to make next. Murtlap Essence and Calming Draught looked very useful in terms of healing. The Gryffindor girl nodded, locked the two potions as her to-do list.
A few minutes left before the simmer time was up. Sere took 6 Seashells and crushed them in a mortar until became a fine powder. The simmer time was over and she took 3 pinches of the powder, putting them into the cauldron. After 2 measures of Flobberworm Mucus had entered the cauldron, Sere heated the cauldron while stirring clockwise a few times until the potion reached a thick-paste consistency. She reached for her wand and waved it once more before turned off the heat, "Done. Now just cooling it for a moment." A few moments later, she put the potion into an airtight jar and the yellow-colored Bruise Removal Paste was finished.
Potion | Murtlap Essence
Ingredients required | Honey, Dried Nettles, Murtlap Tentacles, Graphorn Horn
RP (WC 313/200)
ReducioWinter break was almost come. Sere entered Potion Class during her free time after making sure the Professor was behind the desk. Today she would make one of the potions that had been on her to-do list: Murtlap Essence. She felt that now was the right time to make this potion considering that this potion could not be used immediately, it needed a minimum of 3 weeks of waiting before it could be used. A perfect time, in the new semester Sere could already use this potion in case she or someone else needed it.
After preparing all the ingredients the above on the brewing station, Sere washed her hands, then started by grabbing a jar of Honey, measuring it up to 3 measures and putting it in the cold cauldron. She lit the fire under the cauldron with low heat to let the Honey simmer. Sere added 1 measure of Dried Nettles to the cauldron, grabbed a ladle and stirred it gently 3 times, clockwise. Next she chopped 12 Murtlap Tentacles coarsely and put it in the cauldron, let it simmer for 25 minutes. Sere pondered while admiring the fact that all the disgusting-looked ingredients, such as Murtlap Tentacles, no longer gave any sensation to her senses. She must have gotten used to it.
Next, the girl grinded 1 Graphorn Horn in a mortar and put 1 measure of that ingredient into the cauldron. Again, she grabbed the ladle and stirred it once, counter-clockwise. Next was another 10 minutes simmer waiting. Exactly after 10 minutes had passed, Sere -who was ready- waved her wand above the cauldron. The last step was to put the hot blue mixture into the prepared vials, the Gryffindor girl put on her protective gloves and used the help of a ladle. After carefully put the potion into the vials, she immediately corked the vials. "Murtlap Essence, done."
Potion | Anti-Paralysis Potion
Ingredients required | Syrup of Hellebore, Stewed Mandrake, Unicorn Horn, Moondew, Honeywater
RP (WC 461/200)
ReducioHer memory of one of her peer duel opponent -who had prodigal ability- casted Petrificus Totalus on one of her teammates in a duel some time ago made Sere come into the Potion Class with the intention of making Anti-Paralysis Potion today. The girl felt somehow uncomfortable with the paralysis thingy: a situation where you can't control yourself, and Sere felt that she wouldn't like it to happen to her or the people around her. This wasn't just about the duel, paralysis could happen in various moments as well as various situations. Therefore, preventive measures were the steps she took to overcome these possibilities.
She had prepared all the ingredients: Syrup of Hellebore, Stewed Mandrake, Unicorn Horn, Moondew, and Honeywater. After the cleaning steps were done, the girl started by filling her new medium-sized cauldron with purified water and turned on the fire on low heat, letting it simmer. She chopped a Stewed Mandrake into small cubes, fortunately the Mandrake had been stewed so Sere didn't have to use earmuffs and handle it from the scratch.
She measured 2 fluid ounces of Syrup of Hellebore and put it into the cauldron then the cube sliced Mandrake was put in after weighing the amount of 6 ounces. Using a ladle, Sere stirred the mixture of ingredients in the cauldron for 30 seconds. The girl then turned the heat up to medium heat and waited for 2 minutes. The mixture in the cauldron began to bubble.
Switching to the mortar on the brewing station, Sere crushed a Unicorn Horn, scooped out 1 tablespoon, and put it into the cauldron. She stirred the mixture 4 times, clockwise. Next, she measured 4 fluid ounces of Moondew, put it into the cauldron and the thick clouds of steam was produced instantly. The Gryffindor girl took few steps back but didn't panic because she knew that the steps she had taken were correct up to this point. She let the mixture sit for a moment while measuring the Honeywater.
A few moments later the clouds dissipated, Sere returned to the cauldron, her right hand holding the ladle and making steady clockwise stirring motions while her left hand poured 12 fluid ounces of Honeywater that she had measured earlier into the cauldron. After all the Honeywater was poured, Sere stopped stirring, took her wand and waved it above the cauldron. The girl waited for the potion to boil while reading the recipe for Calming Draught that was still on her to-do list, while occasionally checking the consistency of the mixture in the cauldron.
At the 40th minute, the thickness had resembled dark amber honey. Sere took the wand, waved it again, then turned off the heat and let the Anti-Paralysis Potion cool before placing it into the vials.
Potion | Calming Draught
Ingredients required | Dried Lavender, Chamomile Petals, Crocodile Heart, Peppermint, Standard Ingredient, Poppy Head
RP (WC 400/200)
ReducioSere peeked into the quiet Potion Class before stepping inside. The end of year exams were approaching and apparently because of that, not many students in the Potion Class at this time. The girl wanted to use this time to check off one last thing on her potion to-do list. Today was the day to make the Calming Draught. The Gryffindor girl was excited because this was her first time making a mental-healing potion.
As usual, she had washed her hands, all the ingredients were ready on the station and all the tools were made sure to be clean. Sere took a large mortar, put in 4 sprigs of Lavender and 3 Chamomile Petals, then crushed it using a pestle until it became a fine powder. She took 4 measures of the fine powder and put it into the cauldron. Next, Crocodile Heart. Sere cut it into dice and put it into the cauldron. The Gryffindor girl took the ladle and stirred once before turning the heat to high heat and waiting for a minute. After that, she turned it down to medium heat.
Back to the mortar, Sere took 3 sprigs of Peppermint and crushed it to medium-fine powder, then put it all into the cauldron. She stirred it again 5 times, this time counter-clockwise. Taking the wand from under her robe, Sere waved it above the cauldron. The next step was to wait about 50-85 minutes for the potion to brew. While waiting, the girl looked at the two last ingredients: Standard Ingredients and Poppy Head. Poppy... this ingredient must be the reason behind the long term used prohibition of the Calming Draught. The calming effect could be addictive, and that's the scariest thing.
At the 63rd minute, the ingredients in the cauldron had been perfectly brewed. Sere lowered the heat to low heat and added 2 measures of Standard Ingredients. She stirred it 3 times, clockwise. Back to the mortar, she crushed 1 dried Poppy Head to coarse powder and put it into the cauldron. Sere then turned up the heat until it boiled the ingredients on high heat for 40 seconds before turning off the heat. Once again she stirred the potion, 3 times, clockwise. She took her wand and waved it over the cauldron.
Sere placed the Calming Draught into the vials and with that she had completed her entire second year potion to-do list.

Potion | Bruise Removal Paste
Ingredients required | 3 Murtlap Tentacles, 1 Jar of Honey, 2 Measures of Bubotuber Pus, 6 Seashells, 2 Measures of Flobberworm Mucus
Roleplay (200 words min) | WC: 503
ReducioWhile becoming a sports captain was really cool and made Alyss feel important, her confidence really boosted when she decided to make a potion for the team, incredibly proud of herself for coming up with the idea. She walked into the potions classroom, shifting her gaze around the room as she selected an empty station. She first pulled out all of her ingredients from her bag; 3 Murtlap Tentacles, 1 Jar of Honey, 2 Measures of Bubotuber Pus, 6 Seashells, and 2 Measures of Flobberworm Mucus. She had saved up her galleons to purchase the ingredients, and now she was finally going to put her potions skills to the test.
To begin, Alyss washed her hands. She was not taking any risks, and wanted this to be perfect. After scrubbing, she put her cauldron at medium heat, making sure the flame was both not too high and not too low. Then came probably one of the hardest parts of the recipe: Alyss had wait. A full 10 minutes. While her cauldron heated up. It took what felt like way longer than ten minutes as Alyss watched the clock, but she eventually reached the end of her boredom and began on actually making the potion.
She first added all 3 of the Murtlap Tentacles to the cauldron, along with the full jar of honey quickly following. She then took her stirring spoon and stirred the mixture 5 times, clockwise. Did Alyss actually know which way clockwise was? Not really, she just summed it up to stirring to the right. Alyss then removed the cauldron from the fire, and added the 2 measures of Bubotuber Pus. This time Alyss stirred 3 times to the left, or counterclockwise, before replacing the cauldron back onto the fire.
Alyss waved her wand, and then began the actual worst part of the potion. She had to wait for it to simmer on low heat for a whole sixty minutes. SIXTY. What was she supposed to do with herself? After about 20 minutes of sitting there, bored out of her mind, Alyss realized that the next step didn’t involve adding anything to the cauldron, so she crushed all 6 of the seashells into a fine power, before then being bored again for the final 30 minutes of her wait.
Upon the time for the potion to just sit there finally being up, Alyss added 3 pinches of her seashell powder into the cauldron, all while wondering: why did I buy 6 seashells when I only needed three pinches of powder? Before getting back on top of the potion making, and adding the final ingredient: 2 measures of Flobberworm Mucus.
Alyss heated the potion while occasionally stirring to the right(clockwise), until it became thick enough to be considered a paste. She began the final steps with a tired smile on her face, waving her wand, turning off the heat, and allowing the paste to cool in the cauldron before filling it into one of the airtight jars she had brought along.

The spring ball was fast approaching and Dennis neither had a date, though he had plenty of prospects, nor did he have any kind of plan until recently. He was typically the type to forego formal events and black tie affairs as cramping his style; however, France changed his perspective. A plan started to hatch in the redhead’s mind one day when he was cooking with a friend from Hufflepuff. They were cooking the “burn healing pasta” from the Hogwarts Headliner, and chose wisely not to include the paste. This is when Dennis realized that he could brew a potion to really light things up at the ball! He had just the brew in mind as well! It took him some time, but he finally gathered the ingredients necessary to make the Dogbreath Potion which was sure to add some necessary interest to what he might otherwise consider a rather boring affair.
He waited until the dormitory was quiet and brought out his cauldron and gloves. This recipe didn’t require fire so he could prepare it anywhere he wanted. He didn’t want to be caught bumbling about with a cauldron. Potions wasn’t necessarily his strongest subject so it would have seemed out of place for him to have it out. He never really considered using potions for mischief however that might change though upon success of both the potion and the prank!
Dennis set his potions book on the table. Filling the cauldron with the required 10 fluid ounces of water, he read on. “Chop the bat spleen and make sure to grab gloves for that fire seed!”
Dennis followed the recipe to the letter and threw in the chopped bat spleens and stirred once clockwise. Grabbing his protective gloves, the Ravenclaw gingerly added the fire seed. In around 5 minutes the fire seed had boiled the water and he stirred once clockwise.
Next the fire whiskey. He pour it bit by bit into a ladle and slowly added it, stirring until it was added and burning with a blue flame. So far so good. He waved his wand and then chopped the root, adding it after the allotted time. He stirred two times counter clockwise and sat back to admire his handiwork. This was going to be a blast.

Potion | Polyjuice Potion
Ingredients required | 3 measures of fluxweed, 2 bundles of knotgrass, 4 leeches, 3 scoops of lacewings, 3 measures of boomslang skin, 1 measure of bicorn horn
Roleplay (200 words min) |
ReducioDee's motives for brewing potions since she had received leave to explore the restricted section of the library had been... varied. Of course, if questioned, her response would always be academic interest - it was, after all, somewhat morally questionable to brew Veritaserum with the purpose to dose your friends and get them to spill their secrets. (She'd only had the best intentions, she promised.) Professor Regan had luckily never questioned her more dubious ventures too closely (although Dee was rather certain Méabh had known, even without saying anything). It would remain to be seen whether Prof A was be the same.
Nonetheless, Dee made sure to not draw any unnecessary attention to what she was doing while she added the fluxweed and knotgrass to her copper cauldron and stirred it in a clockwise direction, counting the rounds up to four, then set a time for sixty minutes, which were spent puttering around the classroom, too excited to focus on homework. Manual work provided a better focus point.
Thankfully, that made the time pass quickly, and soon it was time to add the leeches to the cauldron while she crushed the lacewing flies into a paste and added that too. It only required thirty seconds of heating before she finished the first part of the potion with a wave of her wand.
She re-checked the recipe before proceeding - boomslang skin was expensive and she'd hate to have to start over, but there didn't seem to be anything too difficult about adding the snake skin and bicorn horn powder before increasing the heat for twenty seconds - and then she had to wait.
She returned 18 hours later during lunch, chewing on a sandwich, and stirred in one last scoop of lacewings before stirring it three times, counter-clockwise... which should, in theory, be the last step before adding a piece of someone and completing the potion by waving her wand. It did look rather suspicious, sludgy and thick and unappetising, but the recipe didn't really specify the desired state so... nothing left to do but to test it out, right?
