Hi! Just wanted to say welcome to Letters to no one! This is the diary of Lemon Goldfinch, that you can read, or not! I can't force you to do anything. Anyway, without further ado, let the entries commence.
Saturday, 25th January, 2025
I've never been to a school more interesting than Hogwarts. All schools should be as exciting as it is here! My first week of school went by so quickly, I'm starting to think maybe I dreamed it all in one night!
I was sorted into Hufflepuff and, although I was expecting to. be put in Ravenclaw or Gryffindor, it has proven to be a house that I feel at home in. They say Hufflepuffs are kind, and they're right. I may not have 'fit in' exactly, but no one in my dorm has said anything mean to me yet.
Yet. I guess I'm setting myself up for failure in a way. I don't want to expect everything to be sunshines or rainbows: life isn't like that, I know. But maybe I can try to hope for... friends?
I miss mamma terribly, and I write to her daily, but this place is starting to feel like home. Mamma said it would take a little while, and she's usually right about these things. I hope it really will feel like home soon.

Classes have been going pretty well. I've got an average of 'E' in my assignments and I've gotten along with quite a few people now.
I really do feel at home here. It's strange, but it feels like I've been here forever. Living in your school makes it all feel like home.
Mamma tells me that soon I'll make lots of friends, and I hope she's right. I'm not lonely here, but it'd be nice to have one good friend. A best friend.
I've had several good friends when I was younger: neighbours, cousins, classmates. But I don't think I've ever really had a best friend. Someone who'll stand by me, not because they have to, but because they want to. Someone who will never leave me, someone who will never get bored of me, someone who's loyal.
Mamma says that I'm loyal. She's right, at least I think she is. I've never left a friend, never betrayed someone's trust, never gotten sick of anyone. I wish other people didn't value novelty so much. What about loyalty? What about trust?

I've gotten another 'O' on my potions assignment. I've got 6 of them now!
I've met this girl, Jade, at the lake today. She's in Gryffindor. She was dressed all in black. She's interesting, different. I want to get to know her better.
I turned 12 six days ago. I didn't get to properly celebrate it because that was the day that I got on the Hogwarts Express, but mamma made a cake for me the night before, so we all woke up early so that I could blow out the candles before I left. Mamma makes every moment special, she's the most lively person I've ever met.

I JUST GOT MY LETTER FROM HOGWARTS.
Mamma was cooking breakfast (blueberry pancakes) and as soon as I walked down the stairs, an owl swooped through the open kitchen window and nearly collided into me! My siblings and Mamma knew what was going on immediately, and ran over to me to watch me open the letter. It's unreal! Of course, I knew I was going. Ever since I was 8 years old, when I made that teapot explode, we've known I was a witch. But it's still so exciting! (I still feel kind of bad about the teapot, though. It was really quite beautiful.)
We're going to go to Diagon Alley on Friday to buy all of my things. I can't wait!

We went to Diagon Alley today! I've been there before when my older sister first got her letter, and now it's my turn!
First, we went to Ollivanders. I tried 4 wands before I found mine: 26.3 cm, chestnut wood with a dragon heartstring core. It came in a beautiful leather case, and I was told my wand was ideal for duelling.
Then, we went to Flourish and Blotts. Well, I went in. My siblings went to get ice cream and my sister's new robes. I liked being alone there. Quiet, peaceful, I got to wander amongst the books and enjoy that old book smell.
My sister is trying out for quidditch this year as well, so my family went to get her a broomstick while I did the rest of the shopping. I knew where to go, and I enjoyed the freedom. My siblings are so loud!
I saw this walking stick while I was in there. I may have gotten a bit distracted
. To be fair, it was a really cool walking stick. Wooden and sleek and smooth but also textured and... I'm getting distracted again.
I did the rest of my shopping then came home and wrote this! I'm so excited, I really want to pack my trunk but, if I do, I won't have any clean clothes left. I guess I'll have to wait *sighs*.

We went to Diagon Alley today! I've been there before when my older sister first got her letter, and now it's my turn!

I love a chat! I check my inbox every 1-3 days usually, but maybe longer if I'm really busy. You may have noticed that I've been doing A LOT of stuff on Hogwarts.io recently. That's because I've got a ski week rn, so a week off from school! After this, I'll probably update on weekends and whenever I can on weekdays. I'm committed
. My siblings are driving me crazy rn: they're watching 'the rabbids'. No, not 'rabbits', 'rabbids'. Like rabbits with rabies. Or, as it's called in France on Netflix: 'Les Lapins Cretins'. The dialogue is literally just "bwa bwa bwa" and it's driving me nutssssss. Anyway, enjoy this entry, or my out of character entry, whichever one you find more entertaining. My life is nuts. Okay, I may be out of my mind, but I have every right to be! This is exciting! And... IT'S MY BIRTHDAY! I'M 12 NOW!
I'm 12. Pretty cool, right? I mean, just yesterday I was 11 and now I'm 12. I may have stayed up until midnight waiting for my birthday, and it may still be 01:38am right now, but that's not what's important! What's important is that I SURVIVED!!!
Shit. I woke Alex up. Okay I've got to go now. BYEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!
