That old bookstore smell
Pronouns: she/they
Lemon walked up to Flourish and Blotts, supply list in hand and opened the door carefully. Since she went to buy all of her school supplies as soon as the list came, to avoid the overwhelming scramble of students rushing to buy everything, so the store only had about 5 or 6 others inside.
Looking down at their list, Lemon walked along the shelves searching for each book like a game of hide and seek. They didn't want to ask the shop owner for help, they enjoyed browsing on their own.
Magical Drafts and Potions by Arsenius Jigger;
Book of Spells by Miranda Goshawk;
Magical Theory by Adalbert Waffling;
The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection by Quentin Trimble;
Hogwarts, A History by Garius Tomkink;
A History of Magic by Bathilda Bagshot;
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander.
If Lemon hadn't come so early to buy her supplies, they'd have to stop themself from getting distracted by all of the titles. Luckily, Lemon had plenty of time to spare, and would often pause and open certain books they found intriguing. They made a mental list in their head of books they'd buy next time they came by; her mother had only given her just enough money to buy all of her supplies.

That old bookstore smell

Lemon was moving slowly through the rows and rows of books now, opening the books that caught their eye one by one. But this time, it wasn't a book that caught their eye, but another student in the shop.
The girl was tall, but she couldn't be older than first year, judging by the large pile of books stacked against her hip. Her eyes seemed to be determinedly focused in front of her, perhaps to avoid any eye contact. Lemon, however, didn't recognise this in the girl and began walking towards her slowly, curiosity pulsing through her.
They'd introduce themself, begin a conversation. They found it easy to begin conversations with strangers, although they didn't all go very smoothly.
The girl was now standing at the counter when Lemon caught up with her. Placing their own pile of books onto the counter, Lemon introduced themself to the girl.
"Hello," they said. "Are you a first year, too? I'm Lemon. Lemon Goldfinch. A strange name, I know." They almost always said this when telling someone their name for the first time.
