Quidditch Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw - Winter 2025

Ok so everything hadn’t gone exactly smooth so far, she had already saved someone and now said person was sitting on the same broom as her great. This time Kora was keeping her eye on Elsian, Pax, Ethan she had to make sure nothing went wrong for them she just had to.

Playing against Ravenclaw was never easy, but today's game was perhaps the most difficult he'd ever played. Staying out of Winnie Harper's way, as agreed with her obsessive boyfriend on pain of death, was quite hard when both of them were trying to get the quaffle. Doing so while dodging bludgers and hoping it wouldn't be one of Rebecca's was quite another. Perhaps it would have been better if Ravenclaw had fielded her instead of Jorah though, she packed a mean punch, but nothing could compete with the cannonballs that Jorah wacked at him. There would be no time to celebrate the minor lead he'd helped establish as a powerful bludger knocked him off his broom. Thankfully, a keen-eyed first year - new to the team yet no less committed - swept in at the last moment. "Thanks Kora," Finnegan said as he held on tight and looked down at the pitch, trying to spot where his broom had scattered into the grass.

Bex couldn't help but wince. Both Lavinia and Charlie getting knocked off their brooms so early on was less than ideal. Lavinia was caught in the nick of time, at least, and both of their beaters were still up and swinging, which was a marked improvement from previous games. There was little she could do about it from down on the bench. For now, she just had to keep her eyes on her team and hope for the best.

The bludger smashed into Lavinia before she was even able to make a move. It was almost a compliment how both the beaters on Gryffindor teamed up to take her out right at the start of the game. They must have genuinely seen her as a threat which was expected at this point in her quidditch career. As she tumbled off her broom, Lavinia focused on keeping one eye open through all the pain. She would not go out this quickly again. She had a team to captain and a legacy to form. Ravenclaw's success required their players to be in the air not on the ground and Lavinia was determined to not just be another casualty.

Landing on Quinn's broom, Lavinia let out a tiny sigh, she was still in the air. There was another chance and with two of them together Lavinia hoped they could recover this. Looking at Quinn, Lavinia rushed out "I'm alright, let's do this." as an assurance to herself that she could keep going after such a hard hit.

Jorah soared above the pitched picking up speed until the rushing of the wind in his ears covered the cheers from the multitude below. He could barely hear his own singing. "Fly me to the moon"… Barrel roll… "Let me play among the stars"... Nose-dive…
"Let me see what spring is like" …pull-up, stabilize..."On Jupiter and"…Thwack Jorah sent his bludger flying towards Finnegan... "Mars. In other words, hold my AHHHHH!", the other bludger caught Jorah unaware, smashing into his left shoulder. The attack nearly sent him over his broom. Jorah banked right pulling off and away from the area of attack to recover and plan his counter attack.

In the role of Beater, if you hit an opponent with a bludger the bludger will then ricochet off that user and target a second opponent of choice (must be declared, if not declared the target will be random and can be an ally but not yourself).
In the role of Beater, if an ALLY dodges a bludger during the round, there is a 20% chance that you catch that bludger with your bat and you send it at a RANDOM enemy target.

Note: For the rules lawyers out there: you are not considered your own ally.
In the role of Beater, if you critically hit with a bludger, instead of doing double-damage you do 2.5x damage. If you critically fail with your bludger attempt to hit, rather than having your bludger randomly target another user (including yourself or an ally) the bludger cannot target you on a critical fail (but it can still target your allies). On a re-target, there is a random roll for target and then a fresh accuracy roll.

It seemed as though getting used to two on a broom would take some practice. Quinn & Lavinia would be the first of the pairs to learn this as they set their eyes on Elsian, a goal to make sure he wouldn't grab the snitch by any means necessary. Cheating wasn't below their standards, racing towards the Gryffindor Seeker- the only thing to stop them would be the aura of ever-watching eyes sending shivers down their spines. It wouldn't be from the referee though, their fumble hiding the attempts behind a mask of fair play. No, it would be one of their own teammates as Ebony scanned the skies for the next target.

CHASERS

Kora & Finnegan would also get to lament in similar struggles as the Ravenclaw pair. While acting in line with being Chasers and Keepers, the coordination across the two roles faltered especially when faced by one Winnie Harper. She would grab the quaffle with little contest, finding the hoops with even more ease as 10- 20 - 30- 40 points made it through the golden rings. Only on the last attempt would the two Gryffindors find some balance, putting up a good fight that ultimately left the quaffle still in Winnie's hands as she scored once more. "And taking back the lead- it's Ravenclaw as they soar from 20 to 70! Points! Can Gryffindor catch up?"

SEEKERS

A glance towards the Seekers made it clear both were clearly focused- or trying to. While Elsian had already caught a glimpse of that speedy gold, actually getting a hand on the snitch proved a far more difficult task. Each reach forward would only leave the Gryffindor grasping at air. Aly, meanwhile, struggled with even catching that first look. Between the bludgers, cheering crowds, and falling friends or foes, it was a lot to take in. Despite Elsian's race around the stadium, no clues could be garnered from observing the other Seeker.

BEATERS

The Ravenclaws remained on a streak, both Beaters searching the skies for their next targets. But after the heavy strikes of last round, Gryffindor switched it up. While Ethan kept his sights on the bludgers, Pax chose to find them- in particular, before Elsian would 'find' them just as soon as they got too close. Ethan opted for the Ravenclaw pair, a heavy thwack with his bat as he spiraled the bludger towards them, a hidden line-up with them and Jorah before the Ravenclaw Beater could send more lions falling. But while Quinn & Lavinia struggled with their cheating attempt, evading a bludger turned out a lot easier. Perhaps it was the impending sense of potential doom but the two easily kept away, protecting Jorah as well. Elsian's progress was of concern to the Ravenclaws, both Ebony and Jorah aiming towards the Seeker. And while Pax could defend against one bludger, two was a different game. They would tank the shot from Ebony, rushing forward with too much momentum that- combined with the bludger- toppled them from the broom. Jorah, now with a clear shot, packed as much of a punch into his strike as he could, the bludger rocketing towards Elsian at breakneck speeds. From relative unharm, in a split second pain shot across the Seeker's body and torso as the perspective shifted to staring up at the sky as a broom fell in shattered pieces. It was a good thing Shubhangi had kept an eye out, a sudden redirection from Pax to Elsian as only one could be saved. The power ricocheted, the spin trick Ethan had tried just moments before now against him with little warning before crashing into the Beater, the residual power still enough to send Ethan into the dark as he fell. "That's a lot of casualties! But their Seeker stays up- the search never ends, does it?"

For only two players would this be a calm round as Andy stood watch for any falling on the Ravenclaw side and Alejandro completed his penalty lap. The two were back in play.

As Andy was flying around the hoops and looking for anyone to save, he had another thought in his mind, and a more keeper-ish thought. If Andy caught the quaffle, he will pass it over to a teammate who will then try to score. That was a more useful thought then to look around the field trying to save someone, because while the boy was flying down to save someone, the opposing team would score. Speaking of the score, Ravenclaw was winning by fair marign, but you should always keep the fact that the game only ends when the snitch was caught, so the score really doesn't count. As the Scottish lad looked around for any quaffles gettin gaimed at the hoops by the opposing team, he also observed the crowd; a lot of blue and grey, and also a lot of gold and red, like the ocean and fire. But one thing was staying in Andy's mind: The game was not over.

The match twisted real soon, tables turned and soon I could see some teammates falling from the sky.

"Merlin's Beard!" I cried, realizing more than one were KOB-ed. Finding Elsian falling from the sky, I didn't give any second thought and shot across the field to catch the seeker.

Getting a hold of the senior, I helped him up, "Senior, all good?" I look back and check on him. "Let's catch the snitch, shall we?"

Ophelia's eyes couldn't take in all of the commotion that seemed to be occurring on the field at the same time. There were people taking penalty laps, people running after one flying ball or another, people trying to cob the others. Perhaps the Ravenclaw should've been paying attention to the beaters, both those of her own team and those of the opposing side, as the beaters really did decide who stayed in the game.

But the benched girl was more drawn to the seeker of her team. After all, finding the snitch now would prove a victory for the Ravenclaws.
