After a busy morning in which all teams had the opportunity to brew their best potions, using all their knowledge and best of skills, professors @Melisande Lennox and Méabh Regan would be waiting for the brave and daring contestants at the Quidditch Stadium. Alongside them was the prestigious and international panel of judges, constituted by Hogwarts' @Hjørdis Jensen and @Dusana Sabo, @Célestine de la Croix-Valmer from Beauxbatons, @Évodie Ndoto Masudi of Uagadou and Hugo da Silva [NPC] former Castelobruxo's potions professor and a renown author.

It was mid-autumn and the Scottish highlands would welcome them with gray skies and a very unpleasant cold wind. Meli looked at the heavy clouds forming a dense blanket that threatened to dissolve into raindrops and hoped that wouldn't happen for a while longer. Behind her, the representatives of the various schools participating in the tournament were sitting comfortably, they would be the ones who would evaluate the performance of all the teams and they would be the ones who would decide the winner in the end. Who among them would deserve to walk out of the stadium with a shiny new golden cauldron and bring honor and prestige to their names? Melisande knew that she flinched a little when she saw some of the potions being prepared...now she only could hope for the best!

The Quidditch Stadium was completely renovated and prepared to receive the event. In it, three different sections could be found, each prepared for the challenges corresponding to each age group.
First Section:
There, in the first third part of the Stadium, a dense forest had blossomed. Tall pines were separated by bushes that hid the ground from anyone looking or trying to cross the forest. Well, unfortunately for the competitors, it would be precisely on the ground that the mischievous little Red Caps would hide! Inside their holes they would wait with their bludgeons until their victims dared to penetrate the dense vegetation. Once the adventurous students entered the forest their mission would prove to be quite difficult, of course! To achieve prestige the challenges could not be easy to overcome!

Melisande and Méabh were standing together, making themselves noticed among the seated spectators, as they waited for all the competition participants to arrive at the place where the last part of the Potions Championship would be held. Once all the contestants were present, Meli, with her voice amplified by the Sonorus spell, would finally address everyone present, "Dear students and honorer guests, welcome to the third and final part of the Potions Championship. As you can see, in front of you is not the usual sight that we are used to finding inside our Quidditch Stadium. The organisation of this event took liberties and transformed it into a more suitable setting for this contest.”

“First, inside that lush green forest,” Meli continued pointing with her hand and outstretched arm towards the patch of tall trees, “There is a basket of apples that needs to be retrieved. Unfortunately, it is in the possession and custody of a group of mischievous Red Caps. You’ll need to use all your courage and wits to succeed in this dangerous mission."

"Completing your task should be your main goal, but let me remind you that you’ll lose points if you get yourself harmed or any of the Red Caps. I hope you’ve done your best and brewed the most outstanding potions!” She merrily ended saying, giving the crowd one of her brightest smiles. It certainly would be entertaining!

“So when you are ready…” She started again, looking at the youngest students with an encouraging nod and smile, “Remember you will only have one hour to finish this challenge, when the time is over so it is your opportunity to succeed. Time starts as soon as you enter your challenge field. In your case, as soon as you cross the gate in the fence surrounding the pine forest. Time will stop counting when you return."

"Pay attention to your surroundings, remember everything you have learned so far, trust your companions and I’m sure you’ll be victorious! Good luck!”
Then she would give them a signal, letting them know that they were free to enter the forest and start their challenge.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
THIRD CHALLENGE FOR 1ST AND 2ND YEAR

- Retrieve a basket of apples from a dense patch of forest - it is guarded by Red Caps.

- The groups will be judged and rated by a prestigious panel of international wizards, by the following criteria:
1. Quality of the potions
2. Successful completion of the task
3. How fast they finished the task
4. Injuries and other harm to the competitors
5. Injuries and other harm to the beasts
jjjj
- The tasks will be performed in the same groups that brewed the potions in the first and second part. Each member of the group will have one dose of each of the two potions they brewed to use - but be careful, their effect will depend on the success of the brewing stage, and a bad brew might harm more than help!
(This potion is IC only and only usable for this thread - there is no potion item associated with this.)

- The event has a total of three moderated rounds, after which the time is up! Your characters can perform one moderated action per round (incl. casting spells - think adventure threads, balls, sports etc.). Using a potion as a bonus action (can be performed additionally to the moderated action). You can use both potions in the same round, in this case one potion counts as the first moderated action and the second as a bonus action. Will your strategy lead to victory?

- Moderations take place roughly weekly. The deadline for posting is six days (144 hours) after the moderation is posted. The word requirement is 200 words per post.

- The top team of each age group is crowned victor and earns eternal glory for their schools. And of course, a magnificent golden Cauldron!

- OOC reward: One dose of a potion depending on your age group for every participant who has posted in every moderation round:
1-2nd Year: Fire Breathing Potion
3-4th Year: Invisibility Potion
5-7th Year: Strengthening Solution

𝖕rat's heart hammered in his chest as he witnessed the unnaturally present forest that had overtaken the first third of the stadium. His thoughts were stable now, he had done all that he could to prepare for the tasks that lay ahead. "This is it" the culmination of his efforts, the fruits of his labour. The anticipation of facing real danger was new, even with all it's dangers lurking, hogwarts rarely had instances of real world dangers where student were set to trial. This newfound experience filled him with a mix of exhilaration and dread. He had studied, practiced his spells, brewed his potions, as he turned cauldrons of liquids and ingredients into potential lifelines. Each potion they had brewed was a show, a way to judge their current skill at not only potion making but also working in a team. As he prepared to venture into the thicket, Prat felt the jitter from both his hope and fear. "I've got this" he told himself, steeling his nerves and drawing strength from the trust he had built in himself.

He tentatively stepped into the forest, within his first few steps the rich aroma of earth and pine needles filled his nostrils. He observed his surroundings as the shadows grew thicker around him. It was quite unreal for him, how a Quidditch stadium, same one where he had seen multiple official and unofficial games being played, now stood there, transformed into a perilous collection of green in the form of a labyrinth. It all felt like a dream, yet the excitement in his heart reminded him how this was very much his reality. The forest in it's own way was a tangible representation of his journey at hogwarts so far, how in the beginning arriving here felt like stepping into an unknown jungle that felt dangerous and unknown. Yet with time he grew into it and found his footing, exactly what he was doing in this dense foliage.

His yes darted around the forest floor, beginning to lock in on the task in front of him. His eyes continued searching for any sign of the apples or the Red Caps peeking out from their burrows. The dappled sunlight filtered through the dense canopy, playing tricks on his vision. His thoughts raced unlike the calmness he had entered with, 'I've studied their behavior, their nature, their interests and their blood lust. If he could just find the basket, he'd make do out of there, but if it comes to confrontation, he wasn't sure if he might just pick tactical retreat for a better strategy. The quiet was concerning for him, it was almost too quiet, the occasional snap of a twig under his foot echoed in the stillness like bolts of lightning of a thundery night. His hand hovered slightly ahead of his body, holding his wand, while his other tightly gripped the vials of potions they'd concocted—Swelling solution and Drowsiness draught.

The final task was upon the group of young children. The stadium seemed to be a buzz while still eerily silent at the same time. Maybe it was because Aleksandra was too focused on doing a mental checklist. They did well to try and prepare for these tasks. Their main goal was to prove themselves well at least.
Stone cold gray eyes were slightly closed as she thought to herself her platinum blonde hair swayed behind her as it was placed in a high ponytail. The slight breeze that seemed to linger around the stadium helped the young teen to clear her mind and focus on the task at hand. The scent of the forested area that seemed to cover the first third of the stadium seemed to have an earthy smell along with a dampness lingering in the air.
Opening her eyes fully Aleksandra grew a blank expression as she thought quietly standing beside her teammates. Her gray eyes lingered slightly as she thought to herself. This task was not gonna be the easiest one but the challenges ahead will help them later in life Aleksandra did not doubt that for a moment.
Slowly Aleksandra followed Prat into the forest carefully examining the earthy scenery around her. Her stone cold gaze was narrowed as she kept an eye out for their targets. Her heartbeat was slow and steady as the young teen kept a steady pace as her gaze was carefully examining their surroundings.
Aleksandra silently thought of strategies of what to do when they find their targets the task at hand. Her fists were slightly clenched as the young girl tried to keep her mind at bay. The scent of the forest wafted around her lingering gently; her mind seemed at ease as her eyes stayed narrowed and on alert. It was best for them if they stayed alert after all anything was possible and Aleksandra did not want to risk anything that could cause them any problems or chaos during this challenge.
Each step Aleksandra took the more deafening it seemed she was not sure what to expect besides anything was possible and anything could and most likely will happen after all this was Hogwarts and this competition was hosted by this dreaded cursed school. The young teenage girl would not be surprised if anything chaotic and drastic were to happen if it did happen. After all, anything was possible at this cursed school and the young girl definitely knew that. After all what did anyone expect at Hogwarts?

xxxxxxxxBringing up the rear of the group was Evpraksiya. She lingered at the forest's edge, her pale hands brushing against the hem of her cloak as she stared into the artificial (was it artificial if it was created through magic?) forest with a mixture of distaste and curiosity. She could smell the dampness of the earth, loamy richness mingling with the crisp scent of pine. The stadium, with its usual grass trimmed neatly, now seemed to be a different world for the youngest Vinogradova. It was a stage set for chaos rather than competition, she'd grown used to the chaos of Hogwarts— but this was a different kind of uncertainty.

Straightening her posture, she adjusted her wand holster with a graceful flick of her wrist and took a measured step forward with Aleksandra and Prat. The ground beneath her polished boots was soft, the give of the soil so unlike the carefully maintained gardens of her family estate.

The canopy swallowed the three figures as she fell in step with Prat and Aleksandra. The faint murmur of the crowd faded, replaced by the rustle of unseen creatures and the occasional snap of twigs. Evpraksiya took it all in— every shadow, every shift in the foliage— was all signs of where red caps could be and they in turn, would be near the basket of apples if all went well.

That is— assuming it would go well.

Detachedly, her wondered how the organizers even got the red caps to participate in the competition. She doubted they could be negotiated with, Perhaps some spell or potion to keep them sedated enough to place the basket of apples?

Hm.

Her grip on her wand tightened, the polished wood resting lightly against her fingers. She had practiced for this moment, just as they all had. Her potions—so painstakingly brewed—felt heavier now, nestled safely in the lined pockets of her robes. If the organizers had used anything to sedate the red caps then they'd be prepared for another attack so she'd simply have to be faster than the rabid little creatures.

She'd spent countless hours reading up on all there was to know about the peculiar things and therefore kept her gaze low. Scanning the ground for any trace of a red hat or scampering little feet. They weren't described as particularly loud or silent but ambushing people lent it self to stalking quite easily no? Maybe they were here already and she simply wouldn't hear them at all until they attacked.

It was a morbid thought but truthfully, Evpraksiya was more inconvenienced by the mud on her shoes than she'd be by a creature at punting height.

Round: 1
Wrapped tightly into her cloak to protect herself from the cold weather, Méabh had cheerfully pulled out her wand to point it at her own throat. "Sonorus." She was not part of the judges' panel - as an organiser, she was busy enough, and also likely not quite impartial as she was teaching most of the kids on the pitch right now, but she intended to enjoy herself to the fullest by commentating.

"The next group consists exclusively of Slytherins!" she announced. "Let's welcome Prat Pass, Aleksandra FairBairn, and Evpraksiya Vinogradova - that's a mouthful - to the stage. Or forest. I guess. Looking forward to seeing their strategy in action!"

Except there wasn't much to see, at least not at first. Some walking, some talking, and some looking around. What they saw? Only they knew.
Perception - Spotting Red Caps: WDC 15, Spotting Apples: WDC 20
Advantage as they are actively looking for the apples with their action.

Prat perception:
Red Caps 1
Wis: [d20: 19, 17] + 7 = 26
Red Caps 2
Wis: [d20: 18, 4] + 7 = 25
Apples
Wis: [d20: 11, 2] + 7 = 18

Aleksandra perception:
Red Caps 1
Wis: [d20: 11, 6] + 7 = 18
Red Caps 2
Wis: [d20: 18, 14] + 7 = 25
Apples
Wis: [d20: 15, 2] + 7 = 22

Evpraksiya perception:
Red Caps 1
Wis: [d20: 17, 11] + 7 = 24
Red Caps 2
Wis: [d20: 16, 3] + 7 = 23
Apples
Wis: [d20: 6, 5] + 7 = 13

Prat spots two groups of red caps, but no apples. Aleksandra sees two groups of red caps, and also which one has the apples. Evpraksiya sees two groups of red caps, but can't spot the apples.
Leaning forward slightly, Méabh squinted at what was happening between the trees. Was there something happening? "They seem pretty relaxed, don't they? No Red Caps in sight. Yet. At least in my sight. I don't know what they see, I hope they see something."
Summary:
- Prat sees both red cap groups but no apples
- Aleks sees all
- Ev sees two redcap groups but no apples

Prat slowly moved through the forest that had been conjured up for the trio of him, Aleksandra and Evpraksiya. While they had both followed behind him in their quest to find redcaps and whatever basket of apple they possessed. It was no easy task finding it. What they had come to seek was hidden by the redcaps. Known to be prone to violence, the trio of them actively searched for signs in order to locate their current potential victims. Prat had no intentions to fight those creatures if he could simply sneak it from them.

He wasn't sure in his team's capability to win in a battle truth be told. Not simply from their lack of skill or anything, but rather with how severely outnumbered they were. With just three of them, they had managed to located 6 groups of red caps. About two each. Their failing however came when neither Prat not Evpraksiya were able to locate any signs of an apple basket despite all their maximum effort shenanigans.

Aleksandra however was not as much of a disappointment as the both of them, managing to spot a basket of apples, of which she notified her teammates about. Soon the trio which only had one skill, serving massive face with their extraordinarily brains of one inclusive braincell devised a plan, throwing potions and running away.

xxxxxxxxThe conjured forest was certainly dense if nothing else.

It's towering trees casting shadows that twisted in the dim sunlight, made dimmer yet by the overcast sky. Evpraksiya stepped carefully over the moss-covered roots, her movements idly cautious but quick. The damp scent of earth filled the air, mingling with something faintly metallic— perhaps a lingering effect of the magic that had shaped this place?

After an unknowable amount of time, she was about to suggest another strategy for finding the ever-elusive basket of apples because honestly- walking around in the forest was completely pointless and they weren't getting anywhere with this so it was hopelessly ineffective and— ahead, Aleksandra halted abruptly.

The older girl shared with her teammates the basket of apples she saw along with the redcaps. Nestled between the gnarled roots of an old oak sat a basket of apples, half-hidden beneath a pile of dried leaves and guarded by a cluster of redcaps that— oh my. She'd seen the image of them in textbooks but and through the tree branches but up close they really were quite disgusting creatures, weren't they?

Putting together the brilliant minds of three paranoid Slytherins— none of which were willing to take their odds against countless redcaps and risk alarming more groups of them— they decided that, ah, making a strategic retreat would be the best way for them to escape the encounter unharmed.

Reaching into her robes, Evpraksiya withdrew a small glass vial. A sleeping draught— certainly not the strongest, but potent enough for their purposes if dispersed properly.

With practiced ease, she uncorked the vial and flung it forward. The fragile glass shattered on impact, she didn't take the time to see how well that worked before she raised her wand, flicking it with practiced grace. “Wingardium Leviosa.”

Round: 2
After a rather uneventful start, the group of Slytherins seemed ready to finally turn up the excitement. Unable to spot the apples at first, Prat decided to go on an all out offense, using the potions they had prepared.
Aleksandra missed the deadline.

Prat chucks the Drowsiness Draught at one group of Red Caps. Gaseous potion, EDC 25.
Red Cap 1 Eva: [d20: 2] + 7 = 9
Red Cap 2 Eva: [d20: 4] + 7 = 11
Red Cap 3 Eva: [d20: 1] + 7 = 8
All hit. 50% chance to fall asleep (11-20):
[3d20 : 18,12,4]
Red Cap 1 and 2 are fast asleep, Red Cap 3 just drowsy.

Swelling Solution at the other group.
Prat Acc: Acc: [d20: 11] + 7 = 18
Red Cap 4 Eva: [d20: 1] + 7 = 8
Red Cap 5 Eva: [d20: 20] + 7 = 27
Red Cap 6 Eva: [d20: 20] + 7 = 27
Red Cap 4 gets some bad swelling and is unable to move. The others perform the Matrix dodge and escape unscathed.
"That looks like some rather effective usage of Drowsiness Draught!" Méabh commented. "And some inspired use of Swelling Solution, even if Mr Pass's aim was perhaps a little off. So now we have two Red Caps fast asleep, and one unable to move. What will the others do with this sudden attack?"
Evpraksiya throws the Drowsiness Draught at the group of Red Caps with the apples. Gaseous potion, EDC 25.
Red Cap 1 Eva: [d20: 18] + 7 = 25
Red Cap 2 Eva: [d20: 11] + 7 = 18
Red Cap 3 Eva: [d20: 19] + 7 = 26
Red Cap 2 takes the full effect, 1 and 3 reduced. 1 and 2 are already asleep.
20% chance that Red Cap 3 falls asleep (17-20): [d20 : 4]
Still awake.

Evpraksiya casts Levitation Charm.
Wis: [d20: 15] + 7 = 22
The Red Cap with the basket is asleep and unable to resist.
Arc: [d20: 19] + 5 = 24
Evpraksiya gets hold of the apples.

Red Cap 3 (drowsy) attacks Evpraksiya for apple stealing.
Acc: [d20: 8] + 7 - 4 = 11
Eva: [d20: 13] + 8 = 21
Miss.

Red Cap 5 and 6 attack Prat for chucking swelling solution at them.
Red Cap 5 Acc: [d20: 19] + 7 = 26
Eva: [d20: 5] + 7 = 12
Red Cap 6 Acc: [d20: 11] + 7 = 18
Eva: [d20: 10] + 7 = 17
Prat gets hit twice for 200 damage each.
"Ms Vinogradova has gotten hold of the basket! ... But the Red Caps do not seem happy about this." Méabh winced, watching two of the Red Caps whacking at Prat with cudgels. "Ouch. Time to get out of there, eh?"
Summary:
- Prat puts two Red Caps to sleep, makes one drowsy, and swells one up to the point it cannot move. In retaliation, he gets attacked by two of their friends and loses 400 HP. [HP: 200/600]
- Evpraksiya levitated the basket of apples and dodged a drowsy attack.
- Aleksandra missed the deadline.

As Prat failed to spot any basket, Aleksandra accomplished the very task fortunately. Failing at one task did not imply pursuing the rest of it as Prat had already formulated a plan of attack for him and his teammates. Grabbing some vials Prat was ready to rain down hell upon these red caps as he threw drowsiness drought and swelling solution at them. Effectively making some of them fall asleep or worse, leaving them unable to walk.

This worked out quite well in his favour, as at the same time Evpraksiya managed to levitate the basket of apples to the trio's side. Sadly for Prat, the potions ev managed to throw while on target remaind quite ineffective as she ended up throwing them on the same targets as Prat. He wondered if she was stupid or these were amateur nerves. Either way, that stupid potion throwing ended up wasting potions and the red caps that managed to not get affected, landed a few hits on Prat. "RUN OUT !!!" Prat commanded as he grabbed the basket of apples from EV and began to make his way out. He didn't want to get hit and so this was the best course of action in his mind.

Afterall, it wasn't as if he had done this before, much worse was him having to plan this stuff, why couldn't he have just teamed up with other people who knew what they were doing.
