He stared at the ceiling as he was being carried through the corridors and up the stairs, his eyes not shutting. The sclera blacker than it should have been, in where it is supposed to be white. His body was a mixture of dried inky black puke and dripping wet black puke. Any way it would go, the content of his dinner was expelled as well and lurked on his body.

His limbs rigid. He was put on a hospital bed, fully incapable of moving and he did not know what to say or do. Clark tried to speak, to call for help, but to no prevail. It was like he lost his voice, like he made a deal with the sea witch in The Little Mermaid.

He laid on the bed, staring at absolutely nothing. He wanted his eyes to shutter, so that no one could see that he was in pain, that he was disgusting to smell or look at. He wanted to be a normal goblin walking the halls and he just wished he did not do whatever he did to anger the hell out of whatever god(s) or goddess(es) he ticked off.

Clark just laid there, hoping for help. Who would help?

Third floor. It always perplexed Simon as to why the hospital wing was on the third floor. It made the most sense that it would be on the ground floor to speedily expedite the quidditch match injuries, the broom racing follies, or any accident that might occur in the great hall, in the courtyard, or on the grounds.

It certainly would have helped in this situation being a little closer in proximity to the Hufflepuff common room. Still, Simon was able to keep a watchful eye on those following him, making small little statements along the way to keep them focused and engaged and soon got his little badger crew, mamori especially, to the hospital wing.

Once inside he saw that others were already there. For the same reason? He wasn’t sure.

“I’ve got someone that needs quick attention. Please,” he said, making a statement to the nurse if they were there or any intern or hospital wing attendant.

He went to an empty bed and laid mamori down but stood close. If convulsions would continue, he’d bring him back safely to the floor. Simon looked around to the others and noticed Clark, another Hufflepuff. He didn’t look so good either.

What was going on?

If mamori seemed stable enough for the moment, he would instruct someone in the room to stand by his bedside and alert him at once if he should start convulsing again or showing some other concern. He asked that the others look after those already there - maybe it was more of the same.

Simon rushed to find some books on antidotes but not knowing the particular potion made it tricky to know which, if any, should be used.

𝕽uth Fairchild trailed in after @AngelFyre McCubbin, her eyes trained upon the blonde boy that her senior carried. It was hard to gaze at him for very long--he was in a worse state than Mamori, his body rigid and far from the relaxed state her acquaintance had grown to right after the convulsions. Yet, she couldn't help but continue to glance at him every so often, and exchange a look with @Eugenia Karageorgiadi as they traisped up the stairs with quiet tension.

Silently, they all trailed into the hospital wing, where the first group seemed to have already arrived. Ruth watched as Simon darted from place to place, as though searching for something. However, she had no desire to help him. She was tired, lethargic, and her eyes hurt. Ruth rubbed at them, stifling a yawn and the crash of sleepiness and dejection. The lust for another potion had stilled within all the chaos, but Ruth felt it coming back slowly, surely. She gulped at the thought, then muttered a quick apology to AngelFyre and told her she'd be right back to help.

Then she dashed to Mamori's side. How terrible of her, to have frozen up in the moment of assisting Mamori. When everyone had come she had just simply...stopped moving, as though in a trance at the sight of the once bubbly Hufflepuff now in a horrifying state. Ruth hadn't known him very well, but she remembered the moments in time when he had made her laugh harder than anyone else.

Ruth could only be grateful that her help wasn't even close to being needed. Angelfyre, @Simon Kincaid and the rest of them seemed to have everything handled. She shouldn't stay. The sight of him, blonde boy, and-

Wait, and?

Ruth drew her gaze towards the other side, to which a bed was occupied. Another lad. She felt as though she had never seen him around, and probably hadn't. Was he a Hufflepuff? It was hard to tell with all the black goo that had yet been Scorgified. Realising nobody seemed to be available, she left @Mamori Anezaki to the others, walking to stand by this boy's side instead. He couldn't have been much older than her. In fact, he donned on an even smaller stature with an ever more youthful face that wasn't done justice by the goo...and remains he seemed to have expelled along with it. Ruth cringed, wanting to tear her eyes away, but oh, his eyes. She realised what she felt inside of her would never compete against what he probably was experiencing right now. The pain seemed unbearable, and the black void even more unbearable a sight. Where was the nurse? Where was anyone who could help?

So many questions. Her overthinking was coming back, bollocks it was back. With a trembling hand, Ruth reached for her wand and heaved in a deep breath, then deflated. She couldn't do anything. Ruth hadn't yet mastered the spell @Aurelia Valentine had so easily performed in the common room.

And so she watched him, the putrid smell and look he gave off gone to her. All she felt was pity and fear. Horror at the sights. Ruth Fairchild couldn't bring herself to find the answer why. She was tired. She felt too tired.

Speech -- Thoughts

Now that Pam was in the Hospital Wing, she had no idea what to do. She knew practically zilch about medicine, not to mention the fact that she had been panicking approximately five minutes earlier. However only a while later, Angelfyre had trailed in, carrying another blonde boy with her. The new person seemed to be in a worse state than Mamori had, his body rigid. Pam wondered if that meant that the boy had had even more of those potions than Mamori. So, how many could that have been? 20? 50?

Her eyes spotted Ruth, the girl seeming to be equally uncomfortable with all that was happening. But even amidst all the people who were already unwell, Pam couldn't help feel worried about Ruth too. The fact that she could have possibly led Ruth to having one of the potions herself was weighing heavily on her mind. I do hope I'm being silly..... I don't want anything to happen to her.

Pam turned away towards Simon. The fifth year had moved off already, searching through the books in the Hospital Wing and Pam found herself moving towards him before stopping herself. What am I even doing? I can't possibly help him...

Her eyes flicked to the three boys lying passed out on the bed, and she swallowed as— wait, three? Her attention flashed to the other boy, whom she hadn't noticed before, and Pam stared in shock. Was he also a Hufflepuff? He seemed to be in the worst situation of the three. Or maybe that was just because of the dried black goo which had not yet been cleaned. She covered her mouth as a hiccup rose from her throat. Oh my god, I'm going to throw up..

She turned and made her way over to Simon, away from the painful sights, and the stink. But she stopped behind him, wondering what to say. Should she offer help? It wouldn't hurt to, right? She rubbed her neck before asking, "Um....can I..... do anything?"

He was still incredibly rigid, incapable of mobility. But he could tell there was someone next to him, but did they have sweet intentions or was it full of evil and malice? Was Clark going to suffer on this hospital bed or was he going to heal? Which of the two ends of the spectrum was he going to take?

He felt something happening in him. A change, but it wasn’t good. Though, it kind of felt like it would be sweet relief. His stomach quickly tightened and all of a sudden there was a moment of sweet relief.

The sad thing was, this relief wouldn’t last long. The warm, foul smelling liquid expelled from his bladder. It clung to his legs and soaked into the pants, the feeling uncomfortable. He had pissed himself. The warm feeling was great, the uncomfortableness of the smelly pee on him though was not, on the offhand.

He felt embarrassed, but completely was incapable of responding. He wanted to get up, but it was like his soul was trapped inside this immobile cage, like trying to mine his way out of a bedrock trap.

Oh god, what if people saw? He couldn’t exactly hide anything. He felt scared.

THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM

Ghosts have accumulated within the moonlit halls of Hogwarts as soon as Simon Kincaid emerged in the Ground Floor with Mamori Anezaki in his arms. They are such gossipmongers, as the lack of activities to do around the castle did limit the action that they believe should take place in their otherwise mundane lives. Normally, it would irritate Aurelia; however, in these types of situations, the news spreading faster like wildfire and possibly alerting the professors in the process would save a lot of time. More authorities, the better. Aurelia knew it—she should have informed Professor Caradoc Browne, the Head of Hufflepuff House, as soon as she found several unlabelled potions hidden deliberately in the nooks and crannies of the Hufflepuff Common Room.

She knew it.

She knew it.

Someone had smuggled those unlabelled potions in the Hufflepuff Common Room, the intentions unknown, and the worst part of it is that Aurelia chose not to do anything about it. How could she have exhibited bystander behaviour when it is the very thing that plagues society as of today, which she very much despised? Imbecile. The young badger had clucked her tongue several times more than she could count; the fear and the urgency of the situation made her forget her routine count of the stairs and the steps she took to arrive at a certain location. It is mind-numbing, but her mind worked tirelessly regardless. She had failed to notice the tiredness it should feel climbing such a flight of stairs, her mind working on several questions, such as:

Who smuggled those mysterious potions? What are their intentions? It must be a Hufflepuff. What is that specific mysterious brew?

Aurelia had read the entirety of the Magical Drafts and Potions and never came across such a brew. Not that she doesn't trust her memory; it is actually excellent—but it could either be found in the potion textbooks of older years, perhaps the information is locked somewhere in the encasement of the Restricted Section, or she did miss something. However, why wouldn't it make such a terrible impression on Aurelia? Such a promising and dangerous potion could have snatched every department of her brain. It would have smacked her with the reality that even if potions made wonders, if one bears ill intentions, potions could be utilised for intentionally harming others. Not this way. She could have retained that information in another way.

But not this way.

Her deep brown eyes switched from the stairs towards Mamori's pink hair. It wasn't even long ago before she admired the silkiness of it, the colour, the length in the Wizarding Schools' Potions Championship last year, their chess match last month, or in every other day she saw him in their classes or in the Hufflepuff Common Room, whenever he sat there in the yellow canary armchairs just to relax and chat idly with other badgers while she read books and/or did homework in the other corner. Now though, his candyfloss-coloured hair swayed as Simon made his urgent and hurried steps, Mamori's head lolling marginally as though he was already dead. Her heart pounded a little harder after she came to such a horrifying assumption. Her knees wobbled, and she almost stumbled when she took a halted step as though the world went still on her end.

Mamori Anezaki is not dead.

They barged into the Hospital Wing, and the young Hufflepuff witch actually hoped that Nurse Barnes had woken up by the commotion. They should be used to this; this is supposed to be a natural occurrence within the confines of the Hospital Wing. She rushed to the side of the bed as soon as the dhampir former prefect laid Mamori down on one of the empty beds. The pink-haired badger is sweating, his face no longer contorted into something that indicated that he was experiencing awful pain, his body similar to a ragdoll. She aimed her index finger over his nostrils, and when he subtly breathed out, Aurelia let out an audible sigh of immense relief, the easing of her muscles spreading throughout her body, eventually giving out before she gripped the edge of the night table for support.

This is only the calm before the storm, of course.

When she was anxious like this and unsure of what to do with her hands, Aurelia tended to bite her nails. She stopped herself, as even if the young badger had cast a Scouring Charm to rid Mamori's vomit from her hands, it did not drive away the stink at all. She attempted to hold his hand only to retract it, as she could feel his hot temperature inches away. He is sweating; his body is trying its hardest to cool him down. He's paler than usual too. Aurelia swallowed the lump forming in her throat. Perhaps she could... What could she do? She is merely a first-year; she must have read their textbooks in their entirety, and she would not be able to help in any way. She felt like tugging her curls in frustration.

When Ruth moved away from Mamori's bed, she watched as she ambulated towards the next occupied bed. Her deep brown eyes widened, as she knew this boy. He is also a Hufflepuff who was issued detention right in front of her for pouring potato flakes on his cousin's bed, the notorious Hufflepuff who sold his items for unreasonable and ridiculous prices. She slowly approached, and she immediately sympathised when he was still covered in dried, obsidian goo, his body also rigid. No one even bothered to clean him up? She retrieved her black walnut wand from her long, raven curls—the wand helps to put it up in a bun. With a slow and graceful finesse, she waved her wand in a slow S movement. “Scourgify,” she repeated the incantation on his face, on his Hufflepuff robes, and on his arms. The obsidian vomit had disappeared, as though it was never there in the first place. Aurelia reached out to feel if the boy was still breathing, the hot breath sending a wave of relief through her entire body.

This should also mean that there must be other Hufflepuff students convulsing right about now, unfound, and perhaps dying. The young badger swallowed another lump forming in her throat, trying to brush away the horrible thoughts that emerged in her mind. She glanced at Simon, who was rummaging in the cupboards perhaps for books or antidotes, before glancing at the Nurse's Office. Her deep brown eyes squinted, she pondered the thought of knocking, or perhaps breaking it down. Where is the Nurse when they needed her the most? She turned to the boy in front of her again, similar to a ragdoll just like Mamori looked like right about now. Tentatively reaching for the boy's hand, she hissed at his temperature because as expected, he is also terribly hot to feel.

“...Perhaps we should help cool him down, wet a towel, and wipe it on his face and arms?” Aurelia offered to Ruth, her voice toned down to a minimum. “The nurse is nowhere to be found anyway.”

8 February 2025 -- Entering the Hospital Wing, and carrying Pettely Knots, after coming from the Hufflepuff Common Room

AngelFyre knew she had put a good deal of responsibility on Eugenia's shoulders back in the Common Room by asking her to wrangle Ruth and Emily and get them to the Hospital Wing as well. Perhaps it was unfair to have done so, but AngelFyre's immediate priority had been to get the catatonic first year to Nurse Barnes for some help. It was a calculation of simple and cold-hearted triage. The rest could be dealt with later, and AngelFyre had zero doubt that Eugenia would do her level best to do as requested, otherwise she would not have wasted her breath to ask her.

So those worries she had completely left behind as another's problem, so to speak, the moment AngelFyre picked her charge up and carried him off to the third floor. Simon had been alerted that she was on her way with another patient, this one in even worse shape than Mamori, and indeed, the boy did seem to be in much worse shape.

When she arrived, she did not immediately see Simon or Nurse Barnes, but she did catch glimpses of Aurelia and Pamela. Simon left with three trailing after him, but she only saw two in the moment. She quickly filed that niggling nugget away in the grey matter file of "Worries for Later" and bounded in three, easy loping steps over to an empty bed near Mamori, setting her charge down gently, but on his side, just in case more vomiting was forthcoming. Saying to no one girl in particular, she asked for some pillows to prop behind his back. Yes, she knew he was catatonic, but if he were to come out of the state suddenly, and in a fit of convulsions, at least a pillow wall might prevent him from hurling himself off the bed. Maybe not, but she did not see how it cold possibly hurt.

She then turned her attention to the room, looking for Simon. She saw her fellow busily flipping through pages of a book, but she saw no signs of Nurse Barnes. She was not going to bother Simon right then. She knew he was doing exactly what he needed to be doing, so she thought best to leave him to it for the moment. It was then that she began to key in on the other beds. She expected to see only one other filled, but to her utter shock, she saw Clark also in a bed. His state was similar to that of the other two. He was covered in his own, black vomit, and seemed to be catatonic as well. Aurelia was kindly ministering to him, cleaning him up, and suggesting to Ruth that cold compresses might be useful. That was good thinking. She had noticed a blast furnace of heat radiating onto her own arms while carrying Pettely. That might be something to bring up to Simon.

She made her silent-to-everyone-else-but-Simon notification. "I am here love, and I have Pettely with me. I do not know his last name, but he is in bad shape; catatonic, the same black vomit, and hot. Insanely hot."

AngelFyre began to seriously take note that Hufflepuffs, at least at this moment in time, seemed to be the only ones blighted with whatever the heck was going on here. She did a quick mental calculation: she and Simon, Mamori, Pettely, Clark, Ruth, bouncy (and missing!) first year girl, and Emi-... wait! Where was Emily? Okay. Emily was immediately added to that grey matter file of "Worries for Later" as well, but the ambiguity of "Later" had rapidly moved to a determinate soon, which really meant Now.

She grabbed three basins and a pitcher of room temperature water. She gave one of the basins each to Aurelia and Ruth, keeping one for herself. Pouring the water into each basin, she coat-tailed onto Aurelia's thought that the cool compresses would be a good idea. "Maybe we can each take one of the patients and cool them off." It sounded like a question, but it was not. It was then she noticed that Ruth herself seemed to be losing energy. AngelFyre flew with this girl on the Puffs broom racing team and knew this was not her normal energy output.

"Ruth, I want you to take a seat, please. And I do not want you to leave this Wing, do you hear me? Not until you have been seen by Simon or the Nurse. You are not in any trouble. I cannot emphasize that enough right now, but we need to know the truth about what is going on here to be able to help these boys, and maybe anyone else who we do not yet know about," she said assertively, but not unkindly.

Looking around for where Pamela had wandered off to, she caught sight of her over by Simon. She turned to Aurelia. "Can you go ahead and start with the cold compress on Clark, please? I will manage Pettely when I get back, but I am going to go get Pamela and have her help with Mamori. When I return, we four need to have a talk."

She knew the girls were tired, uncertain, and worried, but AngelFyre also knew that there was some comfort in having a task at hand and the appearance of someone in charge, even if that someone was navigating the circumstances just as blindly as they were. The projection of assertive confidence was the best thing she could do for them in the moment, so assertively confident she would be.

As she walked over to where Pamela and Simon were, she heard her asking Simon if there was anything she could do to help. "Actually, there is something you can do. I have a basin of water over by Mamori's bed and some cloths. His skin is very hot. Could you please go and give him a cool compress? I will be back over in a minute to do the same with Pettely. I am sorry to interrupt you, but I do need to speak to Simon for a moment."

What AngelFyre had completely forgotten in the midst of everything was that she was still half-giant sized, so Simon was in for yet one more shock as he turned around upon hearing both Pamela's and AngelFyre's voices behind him.

It was just that kind of evening... nothing but surprises.

[quote] 𝓗aving the accompany of @Aurelia Valentine made the world shift to a wobbly balance, but a balance nontheless. It didn't feel like Ruth was the only one bearing all the weight, now that she had a friend next to her to guide her through with what to do to make herself useful. That was why she came, wasn't it? To be useful. She watched with silent awe as her friend expertly muttered Scourgify to clean up the lad, then turn to her in an almost-businesslike fashion to suggest cooling him down.

At first, Ruth stilled frigid at the suggestion, then slowly began nodding. Her exhaustion made her wonder if it was a good idea, but now anything coming from Aurelia seemed to be a good idea. After all, she was the one who had been quick to alert the prefects about @Mamori Anezaki's sudden fall, unlike her...Before Ruth could risk another glance at the pink-haired boy, @AngelFyre McCubbin had rushed over with her hands overflowing with basins. Ruth dazedly admired at the way she had quickly taken charge of the situation and listened to her follow up on Aurelia's suggestion, seeming to have caught a bit of the conversation beforehand.

Ruth glanced down at the water within the basin she had been given, staring down at the sombre reflection of herself. The girl within the wallowing waters eyed her right back, a small frown perched on her face, the edges of her eyes a little too sad for the Hufflepuff's liking. She hated the feeling she felt, hated the tension she gave off. Her emotions were not allowed to get in control of her, not now. Ruth was to put others before herself before attending to the matter. This was what she had set about to do, only to be stopped by AngelFyre yet again. It seemed that her senior had spotted the exhaustion on the younger’s face, a sight that was plainly showcased for the world to see. Ruth wanted to protest, her lips already parted to let out a string of reassurances and insist. But it was an order. Slowly, she nodded in resigned agreement, ambling closer to the wall next to @Clark Baird (his name now known as it was uttered from AngelFyre’s lips) and sitting down on the seat overlooking his bed.

Her basin was now placed beside Mamori’s bed, her temporary possession to be passed over to Pamela. Leaning her head against the (tip of chair bit), she watched others flit around getting to work, whilst she laid, useless once again.

Her fingers clenched into fists. She somehow felt as though that was her fault. No, it was her fault. And she’d make amends to it, surely. “Hey Aurelia, if you need help,” she tapped at her chest and gestured to the hard-pressed chair, “I’m right here.”

Speech -- Thoughts

Pam was probably a little out of it. Because she practically jumped out of her skin when AngelFyre spoke up behind her, having not even heard her approach. Either way, she was glad to have something to occupy her, even if it involved her to return to the room she had practically run away from.

Welp, back to the room of stinks.

Stepping back into the room, Pam spotted Aurelia giving a cold compress to..... what was the boy's name? Pam had no clue. Well, that was a worry for later. She spotted Ruth on a bed too, and frowned, noticing the fact that the girl looked unhappier than normal. It was surprising because Ruth didn't do unhappy. She was one of the most lively girls Pam had ever met. Pam hoped there was nothing too wrong with her. Don't let it be the potion please.

Before she could get distracted and start losing her mind over her best friend, Pam made her way over to Mamori, finding the pink-haired boy lying still on the bed as she had left him, not looking better, but thankfully, not looking worse than before either. She reached for the cloth in the basin, touching Mamori's forehead with her other hand and drawing back with a hiss. Alright, that was a bad idea.

She got to work, placing the wet cold cloth on the boy's forehead, getting sudden flashbacks to the times her father would give her cold compressed whenever she would catch a fever.

Although, I hope this works. He's too warm. Will we need a lot of water to cool him down?

Well, hopefully all the three boys would be able to pull through..... whatever this was that was happening.

Open to any and all interactions. Getting ready to administer some potions in the Hospital Wing stockroom unless stopped: @Bessie Barnes or @Solomon Lear

The book was taking too much time and he lowered it with a frustrated sigh that he had found vritually nothing that could help with his but was grateful that AngelFyre had led the group back safetly to the Hospital Wing - even if that did mean there was more patients now to take care of. At least most badgers seemed to be assembled in one place.

He placed the book down and turned to smile to AngelFyre but jumped, literally, when he saw the sight of her. She had warned him that she may look a little different than he was used to but he wasn't prepared to see her like that.

No matter though, he just smiled, liking the ingenuity and quick thinking by his girl and hurried to carry on. "Nurse? Nurse?! Are you here?" he called out near their office and then poked his head out from the Hospital Wing and called down the corridor. "Nurse? Headmaster? Anyone? A professor? I'd like to administer the Antidote for Common Poisons and the Antidote for Uncommon Poisons. We keep them stocked in the stockroom. Any objections?"

And if he would hear none after a few moments, whether that be because they didn't have any or because they weren't anywhere around to hear it, Simon would go to that stockroom and begin to give both to each that seemed suffering. He was done waiting or looking through some book for information that didn't seem to be coming. He was done waiting.
OOC NOTE: If staff could let me know if either of these potions if no objections are given and Simon administers them can at least tell us how it affects the students, that would be great. I'm not quite sure where else to go with this thread/plotline without further staff intervention, but grateful the badgers get to have it. Thanks!

Be kind to one another. (*iNPC is Miles Thatcher)
