Mylo truly hoped this match would go better than their previous one, but as they stepped onto the piste and memories of the previous match flooded their mind they had to take a steadying breath to remind themselves of the practice they had put into this match. The countless hours of practising the same spells over and over until they were perfect. The matches of others they had watched to see what strategies they used and what they could maybe implement into their own.

As Mylo looked over to the spectator benches trying to get themselves into a place of calm they saw two familiar faces. Actually what they first saw was the enormous banner that was being held by one of said familiar faces, with a message that made them smile. DON'T BE TOO RESPONSIBLE MYLO, SHOW THEM WHAT YOU'VE GOT" It read, and as both Maisie and Avis cheered them on he felt a bit lighter going into this match. Giving both of them a thumbs-up and a small smile Mylo turned towards their opponent ready to put all their practice into action, to hopefully come out victorious.

Turning to their teammates they took a final deep breath steeling themselves for the duel. "Good luck guys."

It was time for another dueling match, Axyen felt prepared for the duel; he genuinely believed that he was able to do this until he got onto the stage. Despite having a pretty bad memory, Axyen failed to remember Pyxis at all, so maybe this was the first time he had him as a moderator. Hopefully his commentating wouldn't be too distracting or crazy though. Axyen stepped onto the stage and suddenly a wave of nervousness appeared—it always happened, he just always felt nervous. He always wondered what if he messed up or looked stupid and now that he thought about the times he lost duels, he figured he did indeed look stupid.

'Calm down and do not look at the audience, I need to focus.' Axyen thought to himself nervously, closing his eyes shut to try and imagine the dueling stage without a crowd. It would help him focus better, and if there was anything he learned, he learned that he needed to be calm and speak correctly when casting spells. He didn't want any of his own casts to backfire onto him, which he had the misfortune of experiencing before. He felt a bit better, but only a little bit; he felt like attempting to block out the crowd partially succeeded and failed at the same time. He would find out which one it was when the spell casting began.

Speaking of spell casting, Axyen would need to figure out what spells he would use; dueling took a lot of thinking, you couldn't just blindly send out spells. You have to be strategic and know what you're doing, that would allow for even the most one-sided duels even out. Or maybe that was just a delusion Axyen told himself to feel better, he didn't know how he would perform but as long as he tried his best, it would all work out.... Right? Axyen knew who his two teammates were, he was fortunate enough to have dueled with them before. Axyen looked over to the Ravenclaws he would have to duel, Axyen began to take a deep breath and would try and focus.

'I can't let everyone down... Again.' Axyen thought with a grimace, he could only hope to be useful in this duel. He knew that his previous duels often were lacking, he wondered if he even tried his best; if that was truly his best, then what did that make him...? A terrible duelist? Axyen then vaguely recalled a moment with his older brother over the summer, something about self-confidence. Something along the lines of being able to do things better when you're happier or in a good mood; to Axyen, it sounded absolutely absurd, it didn't even make sense to him.

'Focus! The duel is about to start.' Axyen thought to himself, out of nowhere, he just thought of what to do. He couldn't do nothing, he was so nervous, so he just hoped it would just come to him, after all, that's what usually happens. Axyen has little nervous moment at the start of a duel and then everything else following that just comes to him. Axyen hoped that would happen again, it was probably the best shot he had. 'What to do, what to do...'

Prodigal Defense Against the Dark Arts Learner - Able to learn Defense Against the Dark Arts 1 year ahead of their actual school year. You may only choose a spell taught in DADA classes. At end game they learn 1 restricted spell. This can also serve as an alternative means to learning spells besides earning them through DADA class.

Wand Maker (Phoenix Feather Core):
• 10% chance that a random spell known by the caster will be cast in addition to the spell that they have already cast. The spell will target the same target the caster had attacked/aided with a spell that round. If the spell cast had no target, then a target is assigned randomly with no consideration of friend or foe. The second spell still has to go through the normal targeting mechanics, it would not be an automatic hit or anything.This effect will not take place if the wand is not drawn.
• In duels the wand only chooses from the list of official duelling spells.
• +2 accuracy to spells cast.

Well this was fun. Cassian knew everyone here. He supposed it was because he had now had more experience as a duelist. He couldn’t help but grin at everyone making their way onto the piste. This exact Hufflepuff team, the Emmas and Axyen, were the same team he had dueled against during the final stage of last year’s competition. Here they were, all a year older, wiser, and more experienced. Cassian saluted Axyen in particular with his wand, out of Cassian’s four duels so far, Axygen had been an opponent in three of them. In fact, Pyxis had been the duel moderator for this exact match last year as well. And Cassian knew Pyxis from the first duel of this year, in which the Slytherin team had done well, . . . quite well against the Ravenclaw team. Cassian acknowledged his teammates with an aura of calm. Last duel wasn't their best, but they sure tried their best. And they’d do so again, even though they were quite a bit younger than the Hufflepuff team before them. Initially, Cassian had been quite nervous for the upcoming duel, but seeing all his friends around the piste, he couldn’t help but feel the excitement and genuine passion begin to alight inside his chest.

The Hufflepuffs gained the advantage rather quickly after succeeding in their strategy of giving each Ravenclaw a little taste of what they had to offer. In contrast, the eagles chose to single out one member of the opposing team, but stumbles were had. Pyxis’ eye was naturally drawn to his training mate, Jessamine. But the Ravenclaw was having a no good, very bad day. The Slytherin flashed back to the duel he refereed over the summer. His new buddy there had a rough time in one of those rounds, much like what Jessamine was having to face. Time to look into the very real possibility of me being a bad luck charm for my friends.

Axyen and Jessamine turned their wands on each other. The latter sought to break Axyen’s concentration with a dance, but the Hufflepuff was just too slippery for her to hit. Axyen’s aim was just as shoddy, but it looked like Jessamine’s sight was too as she moved one way to avoid Axyen’s Petrificus Totalus and ended up right in the path of it. The Ravenclaws saw Jessamine freeze amidst her stance and take a tumble on the stage. And that wasn’t the end of their woes. Emma brought out a spell she was very comfortable with, if Pyxis remembered correctly. The sight of crackers being conjured into existence and screeching as they popped had the Slytherin excited to learn that very spell in his next year. Emma’s almost-perfect accuracy saw each Ravenclaw become caught up in the popping crackers.

No, it wasn’t just one of them having a hard time. It was all of the Ravenclaws, it seemed. Following the pattern of aiming for Axyen, Mylo called out the incantation for the Knockback Jinx. Whether it was nerves or lack of something, it affected Mylo in the worst way as the spell went straight for their teammate. Almost too late to see it coming, Cassian hastily tried to escape the path of the jinx, but the spell still caught him on the shoulder. Pyxis winced as he watched the Ravenclaw deal with the effects of two spells in his way. Thankfully, Cassian found some success for his team as his Knockback Jinx struck Axyen head on. Lastly, EmmaLee was on the opposite end of the accomplishment spectrum to her teammates as her Rictusempra, aimed at Mylo, took a favorable pathway but ended up missing the wix completely.
