High in the sky, Sabrina made a new discovery: flying on the Firebolt was nothing like the school broom. Frankly, it is to be expected, given that it's one of the best brooms there is, but she wasn't prepared at how utterly different the experience would be. She was used to the resistence and imperfections of the old, worn out types, the smooth effortless gliding through air somewhat of a shock to her. A whole new world opened up to her, a world where she didn't have to give all her strenght to turn, where she could just lead and the broom followed.

Ironically enough, it took a bit of adjusting to get used her. So for a bit, she was just drifting around, feeling the new broom out, swaying her bat, the weight of it foreign in her palm. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught movement. Swiveling her head, she just caught one of her teammates dodged a bludger which was now rocketing towards her. Straightening, her breath caught in her throat as she shifted to get into a better position, raising her bat and taking a swing - this time, with purpose. To her surprise, she actually hit it, sending it towards a girl from the other team.

She was honestly surprised that the force didn't knock her off, her eyes a little wider and heart racing, which probably didn't show, judging by the cheerful praise from their captain @Maisie Gemmell. A little shaken up, and quite far away, Sabrina managed to give the Ravenclaw a small grin with thumbs up. She felt this almost trembling pressure in her chest, expanding and shooting off sparks into the very tips of her fingers. Her grin widened, recognizing the familiar mix of nervousness, excitement and most of all, adrenaline. Adjusting her grip on her bat, more sure with it now, she mentally prepared herself for what was to come next.

The game wasn't much interesting at first, infact Elisa couldn't even remember properly who scored but the bore in her eyes instantly switched with curiosity when the true beauty of Quidditch, the violence started to play as bludgering and blatching began,

She couldn't believe how easily most of the people from the other team were evading the bludgers, it was almost impressive, it was as if they had a reflex faster than that of a cat, but perhaps she had thought too soon as a rogue bludger crashed into one of them, while they remained in their broom, their situation couldn't be called perfectly fine

The Blatching however seemed to lack the spice as Tracey smoothly escaped Ruths attack as Koko handed down the penalty lap, quite a speciality of the just Koko. Elisa's eyes slowly fell on Piérre, he seemed to be in a lack of luck as he continued to search for the snitch but the good thing was that so was the other teams seeker yet hadn't succeeded in searching the snitch .

Elisa sighed as she leaned on to a wall and continued to watch the game play infront of her eyes, all she hoped was for neither of the beaters to be down early.

If it wasn't clear by now, Oliver was a proud fellow, proud of his family, proud of his skills in studying. Most of the time he felt like everything he painted should belong in a museum all of his baking was the best thing he ever tasted. And according to his mom, the best thing that she ever tasted as well. Some could say he was a little cocky, and had a tad of an ego. But had it ever hurt anyone in thinking that you were the best and everyone else was beneath you? He was choosing to ignore any situations where that bit someone in the ass. He had bigger problems.

The buldger had come right in to his line, giving him the perfect opportunity for his shoot, if he could knock someone off the broom or at the very least hit them hard. As he knew he could do, he was quite strong, he would become the star player of the unofficial game. He thought he had good chances, he was pretty accurate. He set his sights on the opposing teams keeper, and hit it right at her. And the stupid girl had the audacity to duck and dodge his attack. How dare she. At the last second to. Instead of it hitting her square in the chest, it whizzed right past her ear. He gripped his bat harder. So close, so close.

So far, Saunders has not had a very successful performance. "I wish," he thought, "I was a little more built. Then the quaffles would bounce right off my body and I wouldn't have to try to catch them." Well, it was always possible - in theory - to develop ideas more in keeping with the nature and very mentality of Quidditch, but Saunders seemed determined today, as he so often did, to show how deep the gulf between theory and practice could be.

It would be a massive lie to fib and say that he didn't feel a tad alienated by the sight of the other Hogwarts students buzzing around on their brooms. The sole reason for his presence on this pitch was to give Quidditch, the game the wizarding world had gone mad for, a chance. But for some reason, he and this sport were like two lego pieces that didn't quite fit together. Perhaps it was the sheer fact that he had yet to achieve any noticeable success that made the Napier boy feel this way. It had happened before - when he excelled at a game he thought he didn't like, he would suddenly discover how beautiful it was. Would today's match be another such experience? One had to wait and see.

Elizabeth grinned as Jan scored but let the smile turn into a tight line as the other team pulled ahead. For a brief second, she let her gaze sweep around before returning her mind to the game at hand.

She gritted her teeth, willing herself to focus on the game and not get distracted. She was hoping that if she focused only on the game, then all other thoughts would vanish from her mind...as well as the knowledge of the cold that was bothering her.

Not letting her mind dwell on the thought for longer than a second, she wondered what would have happened if she'd had thought to bring something to secure her hat on her head. Making a brief shake of her head, she cast that thought aside and pretended to lock all useless thoughts out of her mind. Nothing could distract her now, not when she was in the middle of a task.

Nothing was more useful than focusing on her task and she was determined to focus, even if it meant blocking all of her annoying thoughts out. She didn't register the realization but this was the first time she'd need to actually get serious about focusing. When she did register the thought, she wouldn't think much of it until later.

Ira soared through the sky while gripping the broom to the point where her knuckles turned white. The cold air nipped at her skin, but it was the thrill of flying up in the air with the peril of bludgers in her vicinity that made her almost quiver. Nevertheless, the least she could do was put forth her best effort for her team, though it wasn't very simple. Truth be told, it was anything but easy, but she wouldn't show her lack of confidence to others.

Her eyes flitted across the pitch in search of the golden snitch while she made sudden weaves and turns while also keeping an eye on the beaters and the bludgers. On that note, the bludger crashed into Promise. Ouch! Ira contorted her face at the sight. Fortunately, Promise managed to stay on the broom. Whoa! Before Ira could blink her eyes, the bludger came zooming in on her. Ira stopped in her tracks for a moment before she caught herself and nimbly sidestepped it so that the bludger didn't even graze her hair.

An instinctive, proud smile lit up on her face, and Ira immediately peered down to see if Koko had seen it for just an instant before resuming her flight. But of course, she was unable to gauge Koko's reaction from up there.

The Quaffle

Team 2's increasingly inventive plays continued to catch Koko's interest as she gazed at the players on the pitch. First a Finbourgh Flick, and now a Keeper multitasking? She wished the strategy had proven more fruitful, if only because it might have promoted such strategies in onlookers. She watched as Louisa continued to score — wow, that was impressive — but Jan was doing well, too. It was a shame that Saunders hadn't scored; Koko would have liked to see a Keeper score some points.

The Snitch

The Snitch simply must have not wanted to be found. Even Koko scoured the skies for a moment and found nothing, although surely she was worse at this than Piérre. Piérre and Ira continued to have no luck with the Snitch. Koko supposed no one could blame the weather; at least the sun was not necessarily blinding.

The Bludgers

The bludgers were big, and they were bad, and they would not stand to be evaded. Oliver easily landed a backbeat on Prat; Koko couldn't help but grimace in sympathy and hope that Prat's sunglasses remained on his face. Promise, too, seemed to shoot a bludger at Prat, but the boy evaded none too deftly.

He had some tricks up his sleeve, though, and paired with Sabrina, they made a menacing duo. They hit in tandem, sending a bludger careening into Oliver, who fell to the ground. 'Arresto Momentum.' Koko squinted and pointed her wand at Oliver's falling figure. She had hardly gotten through the words when that same bludger got redirected to Jan, who managed to keep himself on his broom, although he would likely be shaken.

A different bludger seemed to come out of nowhere and head somewhere in the vicinity of Piérre, but it didn't even come close to hitting the Seeker.

Mechanics changes:
- The Snitch Find DC is average player wisdom + 15 + d10. Does not include broom stats.
- The Snitch Catch DC is average player wisdom + 15 + d10. Does not include broom stats.
- The Cheat DC is average player wisdom + 15 and only varies per team depending on abilities.
- Bludger ricochet damage is halved.
- A blatch that has a successful acc v eva check must then undergo a str vs sta check. If that is successful, the player is blatched.
- The snitch has a 10% chance, per round, to attack a random player on the field. If it does so, it will be attacking with +10 accuracy, and it will cause a -3 debuff to wisdom, evasion and accuracy.
- There is one rogue bludger that can attack all teams no matter if a bludger action is taken or not. Beaters have a 10% chance to intercept this if it attacks their team. Please note an interception target with Beater actions.

Action changes
- Beaters can attempt a Quaffle grab (and score) at disadvantage due to holding the bat.
- Passing a Quaffle requires an accuracy check between both Chasers involved. If a pass is successful, the receiving Chaser has +3 accuracy when attempting to score. Can be stacked with the Oakshaft/Firebolt ability.
- Beaters can have a bludger interception target.

Apparently where he thought 'he would be' was not exactly where the Snitch had had in mind. He had half a mind to tear out his eyeballs and clean them out with some kind of glasses cleaner to make sure that they were working right and clear before putting them back in his skull again. Seriously, where was this thing, and how in the world did other Seekers make this entire job look so darn easy?

He puffed his cheeks, twisting in the sky a bit and dive-bombing towards the ground before flattening out his curve and skimming the grass. The wind screamed through his hair and in the creases of his black and gold flight suit. Maybe it was hiding somewhere near the earth? In the grass like a little animal that could be flushed out with sudden and scary movement towards it?

He snorted. "Schizzinoso Finicky then, perhaps?" He muttered towards the broom as he searched and searched to no success. The crack of bludgers rang through the air again, and three thumps indicated that there had been joy in some of their hits. He wasn't paying attention to the rosters, though, and indeed as he hooked into a hard left, a wild bludger sank itself into the ground where he had just been moments earlier--obviously an attempt to come down either on his back or on his head with its viciousness. Green eyes watched it for a second before recentering. Another 30 points, for a total of 40 points up. Their chasers were putting in work. "Not going to lie, I kind of like that name for you. You're very Schizzinoso for me, but you like my brother." Another snort and a slight rolling of his eyes in further sentiment.

The longer he failed to spot this thing, the more of a chance the rival seeker had of spotting the Snitch. He was starting to lose his advantage. He couldn't let this go on much longer. Clicking his tongue, he shook his head and tried a new approach--maybe if he swept the ground low and glanced skywards... heck, even if he just pretended that he wasn't interested in trying to find the devilish little golden charm, perhaps it would come to him. Just like approaching a wild animal and attempting to tempt it. If you pretended you weren't interested... it would get curious.

And come right to you.

But he was starting to get very discouraged indeed. He hoped something would turn up soon, anything to boost his non-existent confidence by this point. At least his team was playing a bang-out game. "I swear, they gave us a professional one!" He laughed nervously aloud. "Keep dominating them! I'll surely happen eventually!"

Well, that was the hope, anyhow.

Steady Oop
In the role of Seeker you when you have found the snitch, if someone attempts to use Alley Oop to help you find the snitch, the disadvantage is cancelled out. However, with this broom you do not gain the +1 chance to grab the snitch for rounds that the Alley Oop is used. To clarify, each round someone attempts to grab a snitch they get a +1 to the attempt and this stacks. There is no bonus (or stack from this round's attempt to grab) to grabbing the snitch.
Redirection
In the role of Seeker, if an opponent attempts to Bludger or Blatch you, there is a 20% chance that you veer out of the way the last second and another enemy player at RANDOM is targeted instead.

Note: The new target still gets their normal dodge attempt. This is not considered to be an auto-dodge, in fact this roll is done before any accuracy rolls are done.
Double-Snatch
In the role of Seeker, when using the search action if you critically fail on your search you get a re-roll in an attempt to find the snitch. In an attempt to grab the snitch, if you critically fail on your attempt to grab the snitch you get to re-roll your attempt to grab the snitch.

Jan, the opposing captain, was quickly becoming the pebble in her shoe. He was quick to grab the quaffle and yet again lobbed the ball into a hoop behind her. Narrowing her eyes at him, she watched him fly away. They'd only met once before in the common room, when he'd seemed perfectly nice. But out here on the pitch, things were different.

And she was determined not to let him get away with it again.

Thankfully, Louisa seemed to be absolutely shining as a chaser, scoring twice more in a row as Saunders was...Saunders was where? Her favorite rival seemed to have abandoned his hoops and—wait—attempted to take the quaffle at one point? Shaking her head, she was at least glad that this meant Louisa and the other chasers should have an easier time.

And it was as she was still thinking, that Jan again came in her direction. This was getting old. But this time she was able to reach out just in time and knock the ball away and Team Martingale was able to maintain their lead.

She was repositioning herself in front of the hoops when—

crack

a bludger collided with skin and bone. There was no mistaking that sound. "Prat!" she called out, but it was too late. "Are you okay?" she called out feebly, knowing she was likely to far away and it really didn't matter. The damage was done.

But not quite. Clearly, Prat still had some strength and initiative left. Lining up with Sabrina, they pulled off something so smoothly she wouldn't have believed it happened if she hadn't just seen it: together they were able to knock Oliver off his broom with a remarkable calm precision. And perhaps even more remarkably, Oliver tumbled right off his broom. "Great team work—what a hit!" she encouraged the beaters.

Meanwhile, Pierre was still out there struggling somewhere. They just needed to buy him a little more time. So far, they weren't doing half bad at that.

𝕽uth grumbled slightly as she went for a penalty lap, her fingers tightening on her broom. Well. She did deserve it. Ruth cast a gaze back at @Tracey Bailey, who seemed to be helping her teammates with the quaffle. She suddenly felt sullen, realising that @Louisa McStately was really the only one doing something, though she was smashing it. Ruth let a small, lingering smile onto her face and continued zipping around, a silent spectator.

It seemed like Pi was having a hard time with the snitch. That was a bit of a pity, but it satisfied Ruth nonetheless when she realised @Ira Thornfield couldn't either. Yet, with each passing round, the realisation that the chances of winning the snitch was getting lower struck her. She glanced back at Ira, a frown forming on her face, then ventured on.

That was when she caught poor @Oliver Armani get whacked so hard he fell straight out of his broom. Yow. Ruth couldn't imagine how badly it would hurt, but she knew better to wish for herself to be in his shoes simply to experience the moment. Ruth steered clear of them, her eyes carefully following along with the bludgers, particularly the one that @Sabrina Lyons and @Prat Pass, the iconic beater duo, had careened towards Oliver. To her horror, the bludger made a ricochet for @Janosch Dehoff and she braced herself for the harsh impact.

But golly, he clung on. Ruth, while competitive, felt relieved. Was it weird that she wanted to rush to him and whisper an apology? She turned away.
