Lost Little Letters
@Steven John
Silva was intrigued. What could cause someone to not be able to do magic? Now that she was thinking about it, what made it so she could do magic but not the rest of her family? That didn't make sense. She shouldn't be able to do magic because no one in her family had the ability to so it shouldn't be passed down. If it had been a dormant gene in her past that started working for her, then it would have made sense, but this was just completely random. Besides, it was clearly a dominant trait given the fact that most members of the wizarding community had their entire families be magical. But genes like that didn't just randomly appear in people, right?
She decided to stop thinking about it. Steven didn't seem to care about it much so she wouldn't care either. But..... no. She really wanted to keep thinking about this but the conversation had clearly moved on.
At Steven's next words she winced. Awkward subject for her still. But she might as well make it funny. "Umm well... more like.... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" she yelled as she ran forward and mined falling into a wall. She turned back to the boy and smiled awkwardly at him.
When he said they wouldn't have to climb another tower she sighed in relief. "Oh thank goodness......" She had not been looking forward to another climb. She knew she really needed to get in shape but it was quite hard for a spaghetti noodle like herself. She didn't even know where to begin.
She smiled at Steven when he said they could wait. She was beginning to feel less tired now. Just a little bit. "Oh... it's fine...." She didn't mind that he had been going quicker than her. To each their own. Besides, she would prefer that he sped up than be held back by her. She nodded at his next comment and considered his question. "Charms was... fun but weird and.... I liked potions.... you?"

A chuckle escaped his lips as Silva demonstrated her brave ghost charge. "With that kind of bravery, you should be in Gryffindor." Steven added as his laughs subsided. He noticed Silva winced at first when brought it up and narrowed it down to her probably feeling embarrassed by it. However, he didn't let her know that he was aware and instead returned her awkward smile with a toothy grin so wide that it made his eyes squint. It was his own way of letting her know that this was a judge free zone.
It was understandable that she wasn't looking forward to climbing anymore flights of stairs, and for that Steven felt sort of bad. Had he just taken them the right way in the first place, he thought to himself as he casually observed Silva's demeanor. It was more to see signs for when she was ready to resume, but he was curious to see if she actually meant that it was fine he went ahead. It was relief to him that she seemed sincere.
"'potions?!" Steve let out slightly louder than he had planned. "Didn't know that was anyone's favorite." Steven said only half joking. "The first charms lesson was interesting, I didn't think we would be jumping straight in!" He exclaimed. Getting straight to it wasn't something he was used to after going through the ordinary muggle schools; the first day was always spent getting to know each other. "It's a tosser really, transfiguration is an interesting class, but oddly enough...History of Magic is neat." Steven answered Silva.
Here I am judging her for potions, and I answer History of Magic. Steven thought to himself feeling embarrassed for being completely honest. Not many eleven-year-olds were running around loving history of magic, that much he was sure of. "Typical Ravenclaws, talking about class huh?" Steven jested.

Lost Little Letters
@Steven JohnSilva was getting more comfortable with Steven. He seemed nice, and had accepted everything she told him without too much teasing. "Yeah.... They'd be very happy to have me I'm sure... Having to deal with my screaming each night..." She hesitated between each sentence and joke, wondering if this was how you did it. Made friends. Teased each other. She didn't know.
At home she'd always had friends, but she had no idea how to make them. She'd told people she'd had a lot of friends, but in reality she mainly just hung out with her friends friends. Not people she was friends with, just friendly. None of them were mean, but it was always clear who they each were there for. Jane was that person for her. She had other actual friends, but Jane was the one she could always count on.
She pushed away those thoughts knowing they'd make her homesick and kept walking. She winced when Steven called out potions in apparent shock. "Yeah... I thought it was fun.. And I'm pretty good at it..." Then again, she'd gotten all A's- No. O's so far. "Uh huh... did you guys do the uh... skeletons?" That had been a weird class. A very weird class. She listened to Steven's favorite classes. She hadn't done much of either of those classes, but she understood that someone might like them. History was awesome and transfiguration was a really cool kind of thing to be able to do.
"Well you brought it up... perhaps you'll..." She couldn't come up with something else to say. Man she was bad at this kind of conversation. Then "Perhaps you'll give us another topic since you got us into this one" Hopefully that wasn't embarrassing to herself. She also hoped he'd stop teasing lightly. She didn't really know how to react to it. "Maybe we can start walking again too..."
