New Years first bad decision finished

𝕽uth chuckled nervously as Kora bent all the way down, kneeling on the floor even, then sighed. She guided the girl gently to a sink closest to the steps and hopped onto the ledge to gain some height. There. Much better.

She let herself be handed the clip as she got to work parting Kora's hair. It was a pretty clip, not meant to be used for the process of dyeing, but it would make do. As Ruth began lining the sections with the tip of the developer, she was jolted by Kora's second(?), third wave of questions.

"You're a Hufflepuff right? I mean you seem like the others I've seen around in the halls and I met one Ryann in the great hall once."

Ruth suppressed a wince as she tugged on Kora's hair from the surprise, quickly apologising profusely as loosening her grip on the hair. "I already told you I'm a Hufflepuff at the start, Kora," she replied, pouring some of the solution onto Kora's roots, now brown because of the blondes getting cut. She frowned, suddenly confused. "What do you mean, I seem like the others?" That sounded a bit stereotypical.

It was then did she hear her proclaim that she was a Gryffindor and Ruth smirked. Perhaps she should be stereotypical and say this action was best suited for a Gryffindor as well. But no, she didn't have time for that. Ruth let Kora go silent and as did she, humming only to her mother's lullaby as she dyed each part with care before moving to the other.

"It seems about right," she said after a moment. "You might want to leave it to set for maybe a few hours or a day, try the sunshine while you're at it?" She licked her lips, suddenly dry. To be honest, what would she know about setting it? She only ever did highlights, not dyed the whole hair.

𝕸aybe it was because Ruth got lucky and landed herself in Hufflepuff, but she found Kora's reply sweet and complimentary. She probably would have felt different should she have been in Slytherin, but she wasn't, so it didn't matter then. Ruth offered a smile nonetheless, one that offered gratitude. "Why, thank you," she thanked Kora, then waved her hand, walking away from the girl to wash them, getting the solution off them before they stained. "You're not a jerk," she replied to the Gryffindor quietly, "You're rather nice. And also very brave for letting a stranger handle your hair." Ruth took a peek. Not much change in the colour, but what could the girl expect? It was going to take hours before she could see the change in effect.

Ruth turned back to Kora, "Are you sure you want to wait in here? I mean..." she gestured around the mess of a toilet. "It's not what I'd call pleasant." She laughed, making her way back to the girl to hand her the green clip back. It wasn't necessarily needed anymore. Picking up the developer bottle from where she had placed it on the sink, Ruth clasped Kora's hand around it as well before looking up at the Gryffindor.

Kora was honestly a very nice person, and she found her easy to talk to. "Perhaps..." Ruth continued after a moment's hesitation."We could go somewhere else sunny. The courtyard would be a good place to talk and let it sit." It was more a statement then a suggestion, and the Hufflepuff witch hoped Kora would agree. That way, the two could converse more without Ruth needing to hold her breath.

Of course, she shrugged, holding out the second option. "Unless you truly insist on staying here, that is. If that's the case, I'll be off to the courtyard. I had wanted to go there for some reading anyways." Whether Kora wanted to tag along didn't necessarily matter. Ruth's next destination was set, and the made her way to leave, letting the girl decide if she wanted to tag along. Either way, Ruth raised a hand to bid her farewell. "Goodluck on the hair, Kora. It was nice to meet you."
