⋆˖⁺‧₊☽◯☾₊‧⁺˖⋆ "I am only brave when I need to be, being brave doesn't mean I go looking for trouble"⋆˖⁺‧₊☽◯☾₊‧⁺˖⋆The hallway appeared again, beckoning with its umber finger for Siobhan to follow its winding, curving path into the dark. A hushed whisper called out to her in it's river way, washing through her ears as her name was echoed across the dark hallway.
Siobhan
The voice ricocheted off every surface of the wall. In her dreamy haze, she whipped her head about, looking for the voice that had been plaguing her for months- always close by and yet somehow miles away. She fought past the jello like substance that prevented her body from moving correctly as she dreamt. There wasn't any other way for her to move as the dream guided her feet across the path that it always took. Down the Gryffindor tower staircase, -subconciously hopping over the missing stair-, out the archway into the courtyard, and into the main entrance before turning down the corridor. Just beyond her reach, rose a trail of silvery white mist. It egged her on and refused to leave her sight, not allowing her to deviate from the path that she was on.
This white mist had been haunting her and her dreams for nearly four months now. Ever since she stepped foot into her dormitory in the Gryffindor Tower, she hadn't had a restful night where this shimmering veil of shrouded confusion hadn't dragged her out of her room and into the throws of the night. She'd woken up at the lake, her head of house's office, the Charms classroom, on the edge of the forest itself, and even in the Greenhouse. It seemed to be bringing her everywhere that she found comfort but she had no way of knowing why. Why was her big unanwered qustion- Everytime she had made her way somewhere across Hogwarts, she had been fortunate enough to be guided back to her room by a sleepy albeit understanding Prefect. She'd only been chastised once they saw that she was clearly not doing it on purpose and was instead being coerced by her own feet to leave her comfy warm bed in search of...
Well she didn't even know. But clearly the prefects never knew either. Everytime she tried to point out the mist, it had vanished from sight if it had even been there to begin with.
Where was it leading her? Why was she disturbed from slumber for yet another night rather than tucked in her soft duvet, safe from the cold and the fear of being caught by a Prefect. The only good excuse she had, was that her body was awake while her mind was asleep- She had no control over what was happening, and where she was going.
Siobhan's shuffling footsteps were the only thing that was audible as she meandered down the hallway, in a shambling motion as her head lolled to the side and her hair fell around her face. She may be aware in her dream but her outwards body was the only thing that was alert and active to an outside perspective. Her arms flustered with goosebumps as the chill of the Scottish October air, thinly protected by a pink and green striped cotton layer of pajama shirt. Her feet remained unsocked and her carefully painted toes hada already found themselves chipped due to her shuffling and knocking them against the roughly cobbled floor.
The November air was frigid, her cotton pink and green pajamas doing nothing to protect her from the dangers of the cold air. Her nose and tips of her ears were already red from how cold it was and her fingers were slowly following suit as the paleness was already turning into a very berry color. She was visibly shivering but there wasn't any waking her until she stopped moving. An object in motion after all...
Meanwhile, on the inside her closed eyes- the haunting silver mist continued to beckon her forward. Closer and closer, perhaps this time she would be able to find out what the mist wanted. Had she been patient enough for four months? Was this the right timeline in which she would find out why it had dragged her from protective slumber? What could it possibly want?
Siobhan gasped loudly as her nose came into contact with the wall and her mind was fully awoken. The sting of the stone had kissed her nose and she rubbed it with the sleeve of her pajama top. She was so frustrated and angry and- really really cold. She hopped from one foot to the other as she looked for somewhere to sit while she grumbled and woke herself back up for real this time, before she needed to make the trek all the way back to the Gryffindor tower. She would need to be incredibly stealthy so as not to invoke the wrath of a less than kind prefect or worse- A teacher.

For Whom Guides the Blind? Pt. 1
Sleep-walking had been an off and on problem for the young Slytherin, beginning in her first year and apparently returning in her second. Troubling dreams were the cause, phantom forms of fears in the first incidents and gory sensationalistic recreations of events in these now.@Siobhan McCarty
------
She was not out tonight for sleepwalking reasons, however, just stargazing and then... Then what? Biting chill did not drive her inside, the need to get to the common room for fear of roaming prefects and professors did, but the dungeon was not where she wished to go.
She had been given answers to questions, but instead of satisfaction it had sprung a hundred more. Questions about everything. Magic itself, other races of the wizarding world, the history of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Now that Astra wasn't playing to a crowd, now that the destiny offered her did not loom as dark clouds or cling like a humid summer's day, she could explore her true interest: the inner workings of her universe.
That universe, while not so vast as the one which held the stars she so loved to study and bask in, was still large and confusing. And it was just past curfew and there was no way she was risking getting caught in the library driven too far into some forbidden resource to be aware.
Furtive thought was interrupted by a sound. A sharp intake of breath, a gasp. Astra slunk a mite closer to the wall, though she was practically hugging it already, and peered around the corner.
"Siobhan?" Her voice hissed through the chill. She didn't ask what the other was doing up, nor why she had just run into a wall. The wide blue eyes simply stared, sharp tongue locked behind shut jaw.------

⋆˖⁺‧₊☽◯☾₊‧⁺˖⋆ "I am only brave when I need to be, being brave doesn't mean I go looking for trouble"⋆˖⁺‧₊☽◯☾₊‧⁺˖⋆The sound of her name brought her back to the present and she looked around, trying to make out the voice of whom called out in the night. She turned towards the direction of the voice and breathed a sigh of relief when she recognized who it was.
"Oh- Astra. It's just you..." Siobhan said as she brushed some of her hair out of her face. Astra wandering the halls didn't seem fully out of place, making her ever the more thankful that it wasn't a Prefect or Professor who had caught her in the midst of her hazy wandering. She could still the the whispy trail leading off into the distance if she closed her eyes hard enough. It taunted her like a stubborn faucet- dripping continuously with taunts of making her suffer for another night.
She sat on the base of one of the knight statues and rested her head in her hands. What was the need that her brain felt to tease and taunt her this way? What sort of game were her neurons coming up with? She couldn't take it anymore and she just wanted one gentle nights sleep without waking up in the dead of night somewhere in a particually perchancing situation.
And it was cold! Though it was dark, she knew there was traces of her exhaled air doused in the color white that echoed across the air. She wanted to sleep. She wanted to be bundled up in her bed with her warm socks and her tea and a pleasant dream for once. Siobhan rubbed her eyes and looked up at her friend who was still standing.
"Whatever are you doing out in the corridors Astra? This isn't a time to be wandering. You could be seen by a patrol." Siobhan commented as she rubbed her hands together. She was curious as to what her friend could possibly be doing out and about this late at night. She knew Astra to be... disobedient. There was a small number of younger students and a few older ones who were put off by her prescence but Siobhan had never been one to worry about her friend. Though she was quite worried for Astra's herbology homework- the poor girl was quite terrible at maintaining a life of herbious nature.
If that was even a word.
But either way. Siobhan looked up at her friend expectantly, hoping that maybe this conversation- dangerous as it was- would ease her mind and take it off of the stupid silver mist that she could feel somewhere in the hairs of her arms and within the churning of her gut.
Though she was here, wanting to move away from the thought of the silver mist... She found herself wanting to ask Astra if perhaps she had seen it too before. Perhaps it was an epidemic that was plaguing the minds of others. Or even-
Oh what was the use. Siobhan would sound crazy if she brought up these dreams. Wouldn't anyone? Recurring, vivid dreams were something that only certain people were capable of dreaming and typically it meant there was something the matter with them. And there certainly wasn't anything the matter with her, thank you very much... At least she hoped.
She had been trying to let the dreams go... She really had. Her family didn't believe in dream interpretation as a reliable source of fortune telling- instead choosing to rely on Tarot, runes and scrying. Her nana, through whom she had learned about her family's history with fortune telling, had always stated that "Dreams were the most unreliable of sources" and had refused to even wink in their direction when Siobhan brought them up.
And while Siobhan agreed with her to some extent- she found herself wondering if due to her status as a witch, that perhaps her dreams were less "unreliable" and perhaps they needed following through in order to understand what had been happening to her.
Though in order to do so, she needed to get to the bottom of whatever it was they were bullying her with. She needed to understand what on earth this silver mist was. And the voice that called to her, sirenly like a weak-willed sailor, beckoning her into the abyss of near madness.
