Premise: Unofficial Quidditch game!
Date: Saturday, 12 January 2025
Time: 12:00
Weather: Overcast, slightly chilly, breezy.
Moderator: Koko Riddle (yours truly)
The pounding in Koko's head had not abated by the time 11:30 came around and she had to ready the Quidditch Training Pitch for the mock game she had organised. Although she had left dates of important events in her planner, she had neglected to realise that, although she was by no means a lightweight, perhaps whatever had been in the punch at the rager last night had, in fact, done a number on her. She had awoken with a steady, throbbing ache behind her eyelids, one that had not let up at all. It was likely not as bad as what some other kids were experiencing, but it was an unpleasant situation nonetheless.

And to make matters worse, the weather was not even slightly pleasant. A cool breeze continued to smack Koko in her face, her self-cut bangs catching in her eyelashes. She kept having to blow upwards to get them out of the way of her vision. She doubted she would have very good luck catching cheaters today.

At least she wasn't actually on a broom today. She wasn't sure if she would be able to handle the wind so high up in her irritable state. A small, self-pleased smirk crossed her lips as she thought of the fact that Ulysses was supposed to be joining this mock game — well, as long as he could keep himself from falling off his broom, that was fine by her.

Koko had worn a long black coat over a white jumper and brown trousers to try to fight off the chill of the weather. She had painstakingly pulled her shorter-than-she-was-used-to hair into some semblance of a ponytail so that she could attempt to keep an eye out for falling players or fouls. She had foregone her usual makeup routine in favour of just powder on her face and a light lip gloss, leaving her feeling strangely vulnerable, especially in the presence of so many other people. Despite her best efforts to stave off the cold, though, it still managed to bite through her outfit. While she was alone at the pitch, she crossed her arms over her chest in a vain attempt to stay warm.

As students arrived, Koko smiled pleasantly and greeted them with a polite greeting and tone, uncrossing her arms in order to wave at them and sticking her free hand in her coat's pocket. She would briefly explain the rules, although she did have to wonder how any of them would not know how to play Quidditch, being wizardingfolk and all, and then she would direct all of them to get to their places, be that on the pitch or on the bench.

Koko found a small nook in the upper stands that shielded her from most of the wind while still providing her with a decent vantage point. She took her wand out from her pocket and sighed to herself before uttering, 'Sonorus.' She returned her wand to her pocket and produced a silver whistle to take its place. Then, directing her gaze to the players, she added, 'Welcome to winter 2025's unofficial Quidditch game, or as I've heard some people call it, "Kokoquid."' Her self-satisfied smile returned. 'Anyway! You all know the rules. Once I blow this whistle, we'll begin. Please try to keep it clean; cheating makes more work for me.'

Once everyone was in their places, she raised the whistle to her lips and blew. A sharp sound would echo throughout the pitch. It was showtime.
Important information:

- This is an unofficial Quidditch game. Please refer to the Quidditch system here.

- House rules added below. These are only valid for this unofficial game and are not in use in any official games.
Reducio
Mechanics changes:
- The Snitch Find DC is average player wisdom + 15 + d10. Does not include broom stats.
- The Snitch Catch DC is average player wisdom + 15 + d10. Does not include broom stats.
- The Cheat DC is average player wisdom + 15 and only varies per team depending on abilities.
- Bludger ricochet damage is halved.
- A blatch that has a successful acc v eva check must then undergo a str vs sta check. If that is successful, the player is blatched.
- The snitch has a 10% chance, per round, to attack a random player on the field. If it does so, it will be attacking with +10 accuracy, and it will cause a -3 debuff to wisdom, evasion and accuracy.
- There is one rogue bludger that can attack all teams no matter if a bludger action is taken or not. Beaters have a 10% chance to intercept this if it attacks their team. Please note an interception target with Beater actions.

Action changes
- Beaters can attempt a Quaffle grab (and score) at disadvantage due to holding the bat.
- Passing a Quaffle requires an accuracy check between both Chasers involved. If a pass is successful, the receiving Chaser has +3 accuracy when attempting to score. Can be stacked with the Oakshaft/Firebolt ability.
- Beaters can have a bludger interception target.

- Please abide by all site rules, including the 200 word requirement for posts.

- Please include your character's stats, abilities and broom of choice in your first post. If your broom allows you to pick from a list of abilities or pick where stat boosts go, please note which abilities you are choosing or which stat(s) you are boosting.

- Please DM or owl me your strategy within 7 days / 168 hours from the time of posting.

- Additionally, please elect a captain and/or co-captain within 7 days / 168 hours from the time this is posted. Captains will organise communication (likely through owls or Discord), and they will be the ones to send in actions.

- Posting/strategy deadline: Friday, 17 January at 06:04 UTC.

Another unofficial Quidditch match or—as it was being called—'kokoquid' because it was being organized by Slytherin upper year Koko Riddle. With that came some new rules, but fundamentally the game would be the same. And Maisie was excited to get back to it, even if it was just for one day.

And it was a cold, windy day. That might make flying conditions more annoying than she would have liked, but the newly formed team would persevere. She hardly knew any of them, but that hadn't been a problem before—the stress of the game seemed to always pull everyone together. The two she did know included the boy who'd been her equal at the murder game at Halloween, Mamori, and the girl who'd run away without so much as dropping her name. The former had fallen at the last unofficial match, but his intuition was on point. The latter, well, there was no denying her enthusiasm. Hopefully both would be advantageous, especially as most of them seemed young, except for him: the upper year student who'd be their seeker. Somehow, compared to her small stature, he seemed like a goliath, but one that was on their side.

"Hey guys! Good luck up there," she waved to them as they started to assemble, pushing the pressures of makeshift captain to one side. She took a spare moment to adjust the signature braid in her hair. Once everyone was in place, following Koko's direction, it wasn't long before the whistle blew. Gripping her broom, Maisie flew up and over to defend the hoops just as she had in the last unofficial Quidditch match. Hopefully, she wouldn't attempt another starfish and stick because the way the blood had gone right to her head had been anything but pleasant.

For now, she leaned forward, keeping an eye on the Chasers and the quaffle. One job she had. She hoped it would stay that simple.

Even at Noon, Uly felt a splitting migraine and a sensitivity to the bright Winter sun that had him wearing a pair of thick-rimmed sunglasses. They may had gone a little too wild last night, but the snakes were feeling unstoppable and that was important to celebrate. It was the first Slytherin Broom Racing win of many to come and if he hadn't promised Koko that he'd go and be a second-string Keeper for today's game, then he probably would've stayed bundled up with Montrose well into the afternoon.

He held onto his Moontrimmer and quickly rose into the skies to give his Co-Captain a quick note with one hand on his broom and his feet resting on the broom portion as he quickly called out to her. " You're kinda evil for this timing, Koko. "

She had seen him in his full embarrassment of last night and he'd probably be even more ashamed if he didn't pull up for his obligations. As she would, Uly would have his eye on any promising players they could either recruit into Slytherin or watch for.

Making his back onto their waiting area, Uly decided he'd just close his eyes for a little bit until the game started. The glasses should be able to hide that, right?

𝓐drenaline. Excitement. Ruth Fairchild was brimming with what felt like a sugar rush. Gosh, will she ever be more nervous? Her first time playing a wizarding sport, no less. Even though it was unofficial (no matter) and it was just for fun (oh, definitely), Ruth couldn’t help but taste the competitiveness on her tongue as she made her way to Koko, raising a hand in greeting as she smiled at her senior.

So exciting, so exciting. Just months back had Ruth and Jan been discussing how much they would love to try out quidditch. Now here they were. Despite the fact that Ruth hadn’t been fortunate to lend herself the seeker role, she had trust in Piérre, though the Hufflepuff couldn’t recall ever interacting with him. Being a chaser seemed like fun nonetheless, especially since she was against Jan. The thought made her grin wider.

As she walked closer, Ruth managed to spot Maisie, their team captain. An unsettling feeling rose within her. To be honest, the two of them had left off on the wrong foot. Perhaps she would be able to redeem herself today.

There wasn’t much time to make casual conversation as Koko blew the whistle, forcing Ruth to nod and fly into the air. Gripping her Comet 180, she took in a deep breath. They’ll do just fine.

Chills coursed through her as she made her way onto the Quidditch pitch with her broom firmly held in her hand. Ira's lips quivered, and she wasn't sure if it was the reaction caused by the wind that clawed at her skin or it was merely her own edginess. Maybe she wasn't cut out for this. Oh, there is still time to flee and hide from everybody's sight...

Nope! Ira was not born to give up. But then, her mind instantly pictured her getting slammed by the bludger. Ira shook off her apprehensive thoughts and image away and assumed an air of confidence.

Ira turned towards Koko when she announced it, and at once her face bloomed with a bright smile. 'Kokoquid,' The name is as lovely as Koko. Without a doubt, Koko was the one person Ira genuinely admired the most in her school. The Hufflepuff waved at Koko with the same enthusiastic smile before her gaze shifted to the opponent team seeker. Her nose wrinkled slightly as she looked up at the boy, who was much taller, much older, and likely much more experienced, before she composed her expression.

Ira clutched her comet 180 while she thought back to that day when she asked her father for a firebolt, and he downright refused for whatever nonsensical reason. Ira's lips curled at the memory before she climbed onto the broom. Did he not love her enough?! Well then, she planned to make him pay the same amount for lavish attire when he compels her to attend the next whatever ball and— oh! The whistle sounded, and Ira took off, though a split second late.

Louisa McStately’s stomach churned with the mix of nervousness and excitement that she felt. I’m going to be playing as a chaser! She thought to herself, trying to force the awful butterflies out of her stomach. She had never actually played in a quidditch match before, and even though this wasn’t official, she couldn’t possibly be more nervous. Trying not to think of all the things that could potentially go wrong in the match, Louisa made herself stand up and look around.

The Quidditch Pitch seemed larger then she remembered it, and the weather was a little overcast and chilly. That’s good, then I won’t get too hot! She attempted to reassure herself. Feeling her stomach jitter with butterflies, Louisa’s mind began to wonder what her father would say if he was here, ‘Just play your best. And if your bad remember you will be worse if you don’t try!’ Louisa smiled at the thought, brutally honest yet encouraging. Definitely like her father.

Ready to follow her father’s advice, Louisa grabbed the Moontrimmer that had been kindly lended to her by a lovely sixth year named Piérre. She smiled at Maisy, her team captain, who seemed quite practically nice and encouraging, and with the basics she had been thought in flying classes, mounted her broom and took her spot on the quidditch pitch. Ready to play, Louisa waited for the whistle before beginning to play.

Elizabeth was feeling nervous. In fact, her hands were slightly shaking. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. No matter what happened, this would be fun and exciting. After all, she'd thought this was interesting and had decided to see what would happen. Tucking her hair behind her ears, she chewed her lip in anticipation. She couldn't let her nerves get the better of her today, she needed to push them aside and focus on her task.

Despite wearing a sweater and gloves, she was still cold but she was determined to push through. She bounced on her toes, trying to stay warm. Thankful that she'd practiced over break, she quickly tied her hair up in a loose ponytail, pushing her hat over her hair as she finished. Pushing all other thoughts from her mind, she did a quick scan of who was here. Not surprisingly, she didn't know hardly anyone. Well, more reason to stay positive no matter what happened, no matter who won. Besides, this was all just a game, nothing mattered in the end.

When she heard the whistle, she kicked off, her eyes watchful. Keeping one hand on the broom and the other a few feet away, she was ready for whatever would happen next.

Speech -- Thoughts

Pam was nervous. And excited. And it was terribly cold. The wind blew over her, ruffling her clothes and her hair, which she had tied back in a tight pony. She tapped her fingers against her leg, pulling the sweater tighter around her. She had not even known about the game until her best friend had told her about it. She had been lucky that there had still been some available spots. Speaking of Ira... Pam glanced at the girl. She was the first string seeker and Pam was the second. Pam hoped she would be alright. Both girls were playing for the first time and if Pam was this nervous while being benched, she did not want to think what Ira might be feeling.

Not to mention what Pam might feel if she ever made it into the official quidditch team. She'd die of nervousness.

Well, practice makes perfect right?

Ruth, on the other hand was on the other team, as a chaser. She grinned as a thought occurred to her, Good thing she's not a better. Girl would probably aim only for Ira—

She was brought out of her thoughts as Koko Riddle blew on the whistle for the game to start. Pam had never personally interacted with her, but she knew that Ira looked up to her quite a bit. The game started and everyone flew up to their positions.

Wow... Piérre never knew that Romeo's Oakshaft was such a sweet ride--powerful and strong as a stallion, almost like his twin himself. After begging and groveling for it just for the purposes of using it for this faux match, the broom had arrived just the other day and was now going to be used today for the now third annual "Kokoquid", an event that Piérre had wanted to participate in before but had not had the time to do it until just this year.

It had been slow-going in his social and academic life as a whole, especially since this semester had only just begun and there wasn't much homework to speak of as a whole. He figured he had some time to burn, an excuse to fly, a reason to try to calm his mind and free himself from academic troubles by being hunted down by an entire opposing team with bludgers and bodies being flung at him since he was the first-string seeker. It was a role he had always coveted during his short spree as part of the Gryffindor Quidditch team way back in the day, but was never one that he had attained, having gone instead to individuals better suited for the role as a whole. Eventually he had figured that... well... Quidditch simply hadn't been the sport for him, and thus had begun the chronicles of failing to find a sport that fit him until he had dared to dip his toes into broom racing--and then had proceeded to get hooked.

The team that he had been placed on was made up of a bunch of students that the boy didn't know well at all save for a few--Cass, Prat, and Elisa, a group of Slytherins that were also members of his little underground market and society. He was still working to get to know each, but from what he had gleaned of each from fleeting interactions... they were rather like kindred spirits to himself indeed. Birds of a feather, or snakes of a scale as one could say.

To each of them, he offered a grin of knowing, a sparkle that echoed deep in green eyes. To a young Hufflepuff who for today had in her possession his beloved Moontrimmer Luciana, he offered a nod of encouragement and a similarly crooked smile that matched the broom's shaft. "She's a sturdy one, and she's saved a few people in her time when I used to play." He assured softly. "Just let her fly the way she will, and she'll treat you well--smooth as butter." A cheeky wink.

Lightly bouncing on his toes, he caused the Oakshaft to hover and then ran his hand gently along the glossy and gorgeously-grained wood. Romeo really kept this thing meticulously kempt--not a scratch, not an errant twig. One would have thought that this thing was his prized showhorse or something. "And you need a name. I don't care if Romeo never names his things like I do." Their moderator gave her spiel--Koko--a girl Piérre had only once met and had undertaken a VERY disastrous detention with (but the fact that he had once been disciplined didn't take away from her stellar persona and very lovely countenance at all, of course) and Piérre only half-listened. The rules of the game were familiar to him, after all, and he knew that playing clean was probably the last thing on everyone's minds. "You know what, we'll figure it out as we fly. I'm sure you're gonna tell me your name yourself--I just have to figure it out."

The whistle blew, and Piérre leapt onto the broom, taking to the skies in a spiral of gold and black in his racing regalia--green goggles over his eyes and squinting at the grey skies. He was already relaxing his gaze slightly, trying to let all movement register, even if it was false. It wasn't just the glint of gold for which he sought--but also the movement, a flicker. Anything that could draw his eye, anything that caught his very very distractable attention.

Steady Oop
In the role of Seeker you when you have found the snitch, if someone attempts to use Alley Oop to help you find the snitch, the disadvantage is cancelled out. However, with this broom you do not gain the +1 chance to grab the snitch for rounds that the Alley Oop is used. To clarify, each round someone attempts to grab a snitch they get a +1 to the attempt and this stacks. There is no bonus (or stack from this round's attempt to grab) to grabbing the snitch.
Redirection
In the role of Seeker, if an opponent attempts to Bludger or Blatch you, there is a 20% chance that you veer out of the way the last second and another enemy player at RANDOM is targeted instead.

Note: The new target still gets their normal dodge attempt. This is not considered to be an auto-dodge, in fact this roll is done before any accuracy rolls are done.
Double-Snatch
In the role of Seeker, when using the search action if you critically fail on your search you get a re-roll in an attempt to find the snitch. In an attempt to grab the snitch, if you critically fail on your attempt to grab the snitch you get to re-roll your attempt to grab the snitch.

AEIOUSAThrough tinted lenses of his sunglasses, Prat squinted against the glare of the sun as he stumbled onto the quidditch pitch. The headache from yesterday clung on to him. He could feel the weight of his eyelids begging for a nap. His broom felt heavier than usual in his grip, the vibrant streaks of green in his hair now fainter then they had been the night before, same night that had left his head pounding. Despite the less-than-ideal conditions, he offered a casual nod to Koko and his teammates, the universal "what's up" nod, intending to conveyed his acknowledgment of their presence without requiring the effort of actual speech. His throat was as dry and the last thing he wanted was to start a conversation that would only amplify the headache inducing echoes bouncing around in his head.

'Why did I let myself be talked into this again?' he mused. With the sun, as a cruel reminder of the hour, and the deafening silence of the empty pitch only except his companions. He couldn't help but wonder if he'd made a very bad decision. He yawned, the force of it nearly dislodging his sunglasses from their perch on the bridge of his nose. Just a few more players and he could get this over with, he thought. He hoped once the match begun, the rush of adrenaline would be enough to shake off his drowsiness.
