"Is this thing broken?" Haven asked, staring at her wand. "Maybe I'm holding it backwards..." She flipped it around in her hands a few times before holding it up menacingly towards the birds. "I'm going to butter your biscuits and put you in the toaster because everyone knows that's the least efficient way to cook, because why are toaster strudels always burnt on the outside and frozen on the inside? I'll turn YOU into a toaster strudel! And then I would be DELIGHTED to go for a swim! But I don't think toaster strudels can float!"
"Is toaster studel-ifors a spell?" she whispered to Lindsey.

While risky to cast, the blasting curse was a fine way to bring some explosive energy to the duel. Literally. Cassius did not often cast it but when he did he felt an exhilaration. Should people be trusted to harness that much destructive capability? Should students of all people?

Yes. Yes they should.

With the spell cast, Cassius nodded to his teammates conveying a look of determination. The duel continued and the duelling captain prepared for what was to come next.

Everybody knew that Fire-Making Spells were best served by badgers; everybody knew that spells would be of no use if they didn’t manage to hit their targets. Lindsey groaned under her breath when she was hit by dual Blasting Curses and her own Incendio Duo failed nailing White. Her chest was tightened. Her brain a bit dizzy. And she had already decided to ignore the constant bleeding. Lindsey huffed slightly, starting to wonder if she was really under some spell that every time she’d meet Ravenclaws on stage she’d get into such hurry-scurry.

Meanwhile, Haven’s wand seemed to be failing her, and her fellow badger had been coming up with certain vicious plans to coax it back to work. Lindsey couldn’t help but chuckling a bit at Haven’s soliloquy, her mood much lightened thanks to the latter. When Haven asked if there’s some kind of toaster studel-ifors spell available, Lindsey had her shoulders relaxed, switched a stance, and spent a few seconds properly considering it - “Uh-huh.” Her eyes narrowed as she chewed on the word, rather skeptically. “Never heard of it. But maybe it will work if you simply mimic a similar spell’s incantation…? Wait,” It seemed that she wouldn’t be defeating the Ravenclaws in a few seconds, so she’d have time to think. And above all, Lindsey Springhall was always practical. “what are you going to use to cast the spell? Can wandless magic be performed on your own wand?”

The murder circled a pair of wounded badgers, would they be an omen and instrument of doom for the Hufflepuffs?

Ravenclaw smelled blood (literally), and they wanted to finish this match fast. Each of the feathery duelists would go for damage. Cassius with a double dose of flipendo cast with ease. Damion recovering a ventus from a subpar cast and Aida with (yet) another confringo. Lindsey would not let the onslaught from last round discourage her as she worked up a ventus to match Damion, and Haven did her best to keep her teammate standing with a reparifors.

Damion's and Lindsey's ventuses would cross the piste first and find their marks - Haven and Damion himself. Both would be trapped in a windy hell as the rest of the spells met their mark. Haven's efforts would not be enough for the targeted Lindsey. As the healing washed over the badger she would be met with a, slightly-less-brutal-than-the-last one-two, of confringo and flipendo. The piste would fall black for her as Galton called for a pause.

With another Badger removed from the piste the match would be called to resume. A lone badger was all the stood against the trio of ravens. Was their victory all but assured?

Aida knew their opponents were having a bad time at this duel. It would have been unfortunate to be in their position now… but they’d signed up for this and so all Aida could do was assume this was all worth it to them. There was no reason to go easy on people who spent their free time asking to be blown up, right?

“Buttered biscuits you say? Huh. That sounds pretty good, but I don’t eat the food here. It’s bad for your memory, you know. Still I’d love a strudel right about now.”

Every time she tried to help someone by healing them, they went down. Haven was starting to think this was not a coincidence, and she should definitely scratch healer of her list of careers. She watched in disbelief as Lindsey was taken away.
"Heeeyyy buddies," she turned to the eagles, doing her best to sweet-talk them. "So... what if you guys just battled this one out among yourselves and then I'll take on whoever wins?" She said it with such confidence it was almost as if there wasn't blood pouring out of her at an alarming rate. "Or you guys could just let me win... ya know. For funsies. And then we can go skip off into the sunset and eat toaster strudels and... and maybe I'll even let you pet Marcus! My pygmy puff, not your head of house, that would be quite weird, please don't pet Professor Iwasaki. But my Marcus, you could. If you let me win. I'll even make him costumes of you all?" Haven did her best to try to make her proposition appealing, but still winced away a little as she held up her wand. "I have snacks?"

Did Cassius feel sightly guilty his knockback jinx contributed to knocking out his friend? Yes, but in the world of school duelling it was only a matter of time before you were forced to face someone you were fond of. It came with the territory. That said, there was still a part of the young duellist that winced when he saw Lindsey go down. Hopefully their injuries were not too severe and he could send sweets later to ease the recovery.

There was still one duellist left and Cassius was looking to see this through to the end. It was time to bring it home.

The end was in sight for the Raven's, all they needed to do was finish the last, barely standing badger.

And they would not try to make her end a peaceful one. Aida and Cassius worked up Confringos while Damion went for a flipendo. They actually couldn't have gone for a more violent end if they tried. Bravely standing on the other side, Haven incanted a tarantallegra for the vicious birds.

However, dance would not be enough to lighten the mood. As her spell hit Aida and the wix bust into a jig the Raven's spells would find the Badger. Two explosions and a knockback would be more than enough to end this duel. The shrapnel alone probably would have been enough.

"STOP! THIS MATCH GOES TO RAVENCLAW! Congratulations." Galton would scream out as mediwizards rushed to Haven's aid. All there was to do now was hand out the rewards. He would mount the incredibly broken piste and hazard his way towards the Murder. Producing three licorice wands he would do a small jig to join in Aida's fun before handing the candy over. "Wonderful display you bunch. Possibly a tad excessive there at the end, but that's the sport." He'd give them a wink and begin to turn. "Now I'm off to reward the Badgers, if they wake up." A small chuckle would follow as he made his way out and towards the hospital wing.
