Coven Seeking
IC Date: Thursday, January 9th 2025
Previous Thread: The Forbidden TomeHe felt abashed, his face turning pinker than the cartoon heart so many artists draw. Oh, it was embarassing to have been faced with a student older than him to basically mock him. However, Clark felt that what he said yesterday was entirely true and oh, how he needed to find coven members. He already spent the afternoon the day prior looking for books explaining what makes up a "fire" wizard, a "water" wizard, an "earth" wizard, and an "air" wizard.
Overall, Clark had decided he would make up the Earth Wizard slot, why? Well, Earth traits can typically be seen as "reliability" and "practicality" and "grounding". Obviously, Clark was all of those. You could rely on him to give you a swift punch to the jaw, find his beating-up method practical and he obviously was down to Earth and was calming... himself.
He needed a Water, Air and Fire Wizard or Witch. Clark, during his research, the day before, he took note of all the spells and potions that he felt connected to each element, what spells would be good to cast for everyone and what he thought would not disrupt the whole ritual.
He had five months to prepare, as the Flower Moon was on Monday, May 12th 2025, and they had to start bright and early in the morning at the Great Lake. The only thing is, he couldn't do it on his own, that was what a coven was for! A group of people to stand by him.
But now the issue.
Clark pissed a ton of people off, obviously people were going to be happy of his random disappearance, which must've prompted the tale the older student weaved the day before, as an attempt to get rid of him again.
So how would he make his friends? Hard decision, yes. Impossible? No. He decided that he would just take whoever into the coven, they didn't have to like him and he did not have to like them back either. They could hate each other's gut completely, and still be fine, so long as they had each other's back.
He had a flyer in his hand, the smell of fresh ink was strong. He had only recently made these flyers. He handed them out to each person entering and exiting the Great Hall, noticing that some were being crumbled up in front of him and thrown away or thrown on the ground, one even hitting him in the face.
The Flyer was asking for three members for a coven, someone willing to give up their own time to practice and prepare for danger. They needed to prepare for spiders, not something he was going to say but that was one looming danger.
Oh, how would he recruit people?@Sage Willows (Water), @Koko Riddle (Air), @Atlas Anderson (Fire), Clark Baird (Earth)

Time: After classes?
Location: Small Hall

After a long and rather exhausting class, Koko was hefting her belongings to the Great Hall so that she could have a bite to eat when some kid was handing out flyers. Koko saw the mess far ahead of her and internally groaned — just another thing to deal with on top of an already-exhausting day. And it was only Thursday! Not even Friday yet.
She adjusted her grip on the strap of her brown messenger bag and quickened her pace, heels clicking against the floor. If she could just walk faster, maybe she could avoid whatever this onslaught of papers and parchments and inks was.
She was, of course, wrong. As she neared the Great Hall, the kid in question turned out to be one she recognised, albeit one she hadn't seen in quite a long time — Professor Baird's kid. The internal groaning grew louder. Koko was not above wearing her emotions on her sleeve: her amber eyes narrowed, her nose wrinkled and her lips curled into a sneer as he handed her a flyer. She took it, not quite having the heart to shove it back into Clark's face or to crumple it as others did, but she hurriedly strode away, into the sanctuary of the Great Hall, without speaking a word to him.
Only after sitting down with a warm, comforting plate of roasted beef and potatoes with rosemary and basil alongside a piping hot cup of tea did she deign to glance at the flyer. Three members... of a... coven? Willing to spend their own time... to prepare for danger?
The promise of danger was like Tantalus's fruit tree: something that had, since around Koko's fourth year, hung over her, waving its fruitful branches above her head, beckoning with the promise of adventure and fun. But that was forbidden, and for good reason. Participating in things like this got you hurt, maimed, cursed, killed.
Koko took a bite of one of her potatoes and momentarily set the flyer aside. What had gotten a kid like Clark so engrossed in such a method of danger-seeking, anyway? The last time she'd seen him, he'd had no trouble procuring trouble on his own. She doubted he really would have needed anyone's help, anyway — not unless there was some hidden, meaningful ulterior motive.
She glanced at the flyer again. Something about water, fire and air... the thought reminder her of when she used to write horoscope articles for the Headliner, and, rather aimlessly, she began to think. Sure, she was a Taurus, but while that was an earth sign, that didn't mean she felt particularly grounded anymore. At least there was not a need for anyone aligned with earth. Well, she thought, despite her recent moodiness, she wasn't explosive enough to align herself with fire, but she wasn't nearly calm enough to think of herself as being like water...
Oh, what was she even doing!? It wasn't as if she was really going to join this stupid little adventure Clark had come up with. Surely it was a death trap or a cruel joke, and whatever idiotic kids joined it would reap the rewards of harm... Oh, Merlin. She stopped eating and stared at the flyer with wide eyes. Those poor kids, she thought, because, inevitably, Clark would manage to talk some sweet, naive kids into following after him into a death trap.
Koko hurriedly finished her food and then picked up her belongings. As she left the Great Hall, she passed by Clark, pleased to see that the kid was still quite a lot shorter than she was. Despite that internal joy, however, she couldn't wipe her disdain from her face in its entirety. She glanced down at him. 'I don't know what this is for, really, but I'm in. You and whoever else you're roping into this is going to need someone to make sure you stay alive. Just...' She trailed off, glancing behind her in case anyone was watching her interact with the menace to society that was Clark Baird. '...don't tell anyone I'm doing this. Oh, and... you wanted someone for each, ah, element? I can take air, I suppose.'
With that, she would swiftly attempt to leave. Merlin forbid she be seen next to Clark Baird.

date- January 9th 2025 interacting/mentioning: @Clark Baird, @Koko Riddle, @Atlas AndersonSage Willows had heard of covens, and had never had the urge to join one. Mostly, she was familiar with what muggles thought covens were, though she wasn't too sure how accurate they were with the magical sense of covens. She had never even thought of being in a coven, why would she know?
One fine- normal- day in January, Sage found her way into the Hogwarts' small hall. She'd go up to the Common Room after a bit, she just needed a good walk around the castle to clear her head from the overload of lessons. Just a quick loop around the ground floors, then she could go relax. Easy, right?
Upon entry to the hall, Sage saw... flyers? She couldn't really recall seeing flyers in the hall, ever,
so what did she do? Approached it, obviously. Some boy she took to be around her age was handing them out. An older blonde girl was there, she seemed to be leaving. Hesitantly, she took one of the papers.
Barely able to hold in a laugh, she looked at the boy over the top of the flyer. "A coven?" she said, repeating the words being advertised. "What's this for, some big treasure hunt?"
Covens were how people got hurt, how people died. But... a sense of adventure. Was that what her winter, her life, had been lacking? Was this what she needed to heal?
Sage adjusted her footing, crossed her arms, smirked, and said, "You know what? Screw it, I'm in. Still need a water witch?"

Atlas resigned from the prefect post some time ago in order to concentrate on other school-related tasks, etc. Life has been quite different since then. He felt that he was too young to take the duty and chose to step away from it, so he missed the patrols, late-night walks, and capturing troublesome pupils. Later on, he might reconsider joining, but for now, he needed to mature and enjoy himself without any significant responsibilities to worry about.
It was a beautiful day, and since class was finally finished and he was exhausted, he chose to visit the small hall to unwind and go over his notes before going to his room. The sound of pages turning reverberated, and Atlas's attention was fixed on the book he was reading, not on the outside world. However, a piece of paper on the floor diverted his attention.
Coven ? .. yeah right!
Atlas had little interest in this; it all seemed like some kind of school play. However, why would anyone attempt to plan a play when they could simply use magic ? Life was already a film at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
He picked it up, examined the information, got to his feet, and saw a person who appeared to be recruiting. It was Clark Baird, the notorious Hogwarts troublemaker and the only student to have a detention streak. If Atlas remembers the detention paper trail that all prefects possessed, Clark's name was frequently mentioned.
After closing his book, the former Prefect got up and made the decision to go up to Clark. He appeared to be with one of the younger Prefects in Hufflepuff house.
" Hi there, do you guys need a fire wizard ? "
He smiled at the duo

Previous Thread: The Forbidden TomeThe first person to actually take a gander, even with a sullen and dreadful expression on her face, seemed to take air. Oh, that made Clark's heart flutter with a bit of excitement! He was halfway there! He thanked her, yelling as loud as he could as she walked away, "ROOM OF REQUIREMENTS FEBRUARY TWELVTH AT TWO IN THE AFTERNOON!" (to Koko)
Another girl came up and asked him a dumb question about a treasure hunt. He shrugged it off, not answering. "Sweet, thanks for joining us. Join me in the Room of Requirements on February 12th at 2pm." He wrote down their names quickly on the back of the remaining fliers on his hand, not handing them out anymore as there seemed to be enough littered on the floor. 'Sage Willows.. Water. Koko Riddle... Air. Fire... ??' (to sage)
As he was drawing around the question marks, he noticed the other boy, someone who tagged along with the other prefect, trapping Clark and essentially leaving him no way to escape. Fuck it. He was going to have to deal with them. Alongside Sage, he was standing.
"Fire? Sure. Is this because you.." He halted, clamming his mouth shut. "Yes, you're in." He groaned internally. "Same instructions I told the girl, be there or I'm kicking your ass out." He said. He was all talk, but even with that talk he could bite. It was just annoying rather than painful. Why were the prefects and former prefect joining? (to atlas)
He scratched out the '??' on the flyer and marked down 'Atlas Anderson'.
He would send them owls then see them next time for Coven4 in the Room of Requirements, or so he would hope.@Sage Willows (Water), @Koko Riddle (Air), @Atlas Anderson (Fire), Clark Baird (Earth)Clark has left the thread
