The Forbidden Tome
IC Date: Wednesday, January 8th 2025
The Forbidden TomeClark's return to Hogwarts was probably the greatest thing that ever happened to the school. How did they ever thrive without him? He walked towards the magical stairwells in the Corridors, figuring he'd take a nice gander upwards and downwards, to the shifting of the fantastical steps. He would hear a voice behind him, rough and deep. A sharp finger was jabbed in his back.
Clark turned around to take a look at the jerk who would treat him like this. "Hey. You. Who the hell are you?"
The boy winked, looking much older than Clark did, much taller too. But he did not don a Hufflepuff robe so Clark had no idea whatsoever about the older teen. He sighed, letting down his guard. "Yes, what did you want?"
The teen spoke, his face full of wonder and manipulative joy. "Oh Clark. Clark, Clark, Clark, Clark. You think you're so brave, so smart? What if I tell you there's a secret out in the Forest? The same one you shit yourself in, you interested?"
Clark swallowed his pride, hating himself for even thinking it was a brilliant idea to even consume two bites of a rather pungent mushroom that was oozing with red goop, like blood. He locked eyes with the teen, his tone now lit with a bit of curiosity. "Yes. Um, let's not talk about that.. I am interested though, tell me more."
The teen pulled him towards, but outside the doors of the boys bathroom. "This is a secret though, so I'm going to tell this to you with a whisper, and I will not repeat myself. Do you understand me?" Clark nodded. "Awesome, so let's begin. You will need to do five things collectively in order to unlock access to this secret."
Clark continued his nodding, acknowledging the teen. The teen would continue talking, scratching behind his ear as he did so. "Well, you need four wizards. One needs to be focused on Fire, one on Earth, another on Water, and the final on Air. While wizardry allows you to use all the elements, this specific trip requires each of you to be divided into elements. So Clark, if you like to summon Snakes and cause fur to grow from people's bodies, or to make them vomit slugs, then you would be under the Earth Element. I would highly recommend doing research in Herbology and on earthly things before you go on the trip. All knowledge related to the Earth element needs to be known before you traverse. The same goes for each other wizard who fits under the other elements. They might need to do research in the library."
Clark was going to open his mouth to ask a question but was interrupted. "You will have to face four trials and at the very end, perform a sacred song, of which I will give to you momentarily." Clark didn't want to sing, so he made a face and gave the teen a stink-eye. "No, there's got to be a better way."
The teen replied with a smile of wickedness on his face. "Oh no, little one. No, no, no." The tutting led to a short, yet dramatic pause as the teen crouched down to his height. "No. HAH! You have to sing or else it will not work."
He stood up straight, fixing his posture, but now moving his hand over the goblin's shoulders, pushing downwards. "So, let me tell you about the secret, since you've waited so long to hear about it."
Clark felt the pressure of the hand pushing down on him and he forced himself away from the predicament, standing in front of the teen. "Yes, tell me. Or you wasted my time and I'll-" Clark didn't know what he'd say, no threat was good enough to come to his mind.
The teen obliged, "Well, the secret is that when you perform the fifth task, which is a summoning circle, in where you sing what I give to you, a book will appear, materializing from the ground, all elements merging to form a thick leather book that, when opened, will reveal spells and potions that you cannot even find in the restricted section of the library or in class. It's said that that book contains the secret to life and death, the spells of necromancy, the spells far above those that we know now. Allegedly, a man named Peadair MacPhilip back in 204 AD."
Clark's eyes went wide, his jaws dropped in complete astonishment and amazement. "Yes, oh that sounds great! Is there a specific time we are supposed to go?"
The boy replied, "Yes, and it's simple. You must go on the day of the Flower Moon May 12th, you must begin in the morning and the chanting must be done at midnight that very day, or else you have failed on your mission."
Clark smiled, knowing he was going to need to find someone to fill each of these slots. Sure, it may mean that he had to be slightly nice to someone, but it wasn't going to stop him. He turned away, thinking he got all he needed to know, only to feel a sharp jab on his back again. He turned around, and the teen gave him a piece of paper, slightly crumpled up with bold text written on the top.Forbidden Song
Instructions: You will need to go deep into the forbidden forest and perform a song at midnight. However, you will need ingredients to make this. To start off with, you will need to gather four wizards, one for each element (Fire, Water, Earth and Air). Consider them your coven. During your journey, you will need to obtain something of each element. Important: you must do this on the Flower Moon.
The first task will take you to the fish-people, obtain a one scale from their tail and return to the surface to proceed. This harvesting must begin at the sunrise, but cannot go on any longer than two hours. This ingredient belongs to the Water Element.
The second task takes you into the magical forest, as you step inside you will face sharp cracks and slicing of branches against the skin, obtain the branch of the first tree to hit the Coven. Because of it's whipping nature and its aerodynamic behavior as it rushes through the wind, it belongs to the Air element.
The third task takes you even deeper into the forest, where you will need to find a poisonous plant known as Angel's Trumpet. When you obtain this plant, it counts as the Earth element.
The fourth task requires you to find the swarm of spiders, giant ones, deep into the magical forest. This is perhaps the most dangerous task of all, because these spiders (Acromantulas) are not there to be your friend, they want you dead. All you need is one leg of a killed acromantula, a vial of their venom, freshly squeezed and you need to have a small sample of their sticky web. Upon finding safety from the spiders, you will need to use the leg you obtained and wrap the web around the tip of it, waiting to do anything further. This is your fire element.
Your final task, which requires you to sing, mandates that you find an opening deep in the woods where the moonlight from the Flower Moon can shine down upon the coven's circle. Form a circle with four points, like a compass direction (North, South, East, West). Each of the coven members need to hold their ingredients and speak the incantation in turn in this order.
Water: Scalam nitidam piscis humani tibi do, sapientes qui hanc librum vitae et mortis creaverunt. A shiny scale of a human fish I give to you, smart ones who created this book of life and death.
Air: Flagellum sustinui, sed ramus me non superavit. Tibi do, hunc ramum. A whipping I have endured, but a branch did not get the better of me. I give to you, this branch.
Earth: Minime periculosa operum, mortiferum florem tibi praebeo. The least dangerous of the tasks, a deadly flower I present to you.
Fire: Hanc arachnidum crurum in tela fratrum eius obductum, in ignem tibi pono. Omnia quae hodie collegimus, tibi comburo. This spider leg coated in the web of it's brothers, I set it on fire for you. I burn all that we have collected today, for you.
Now, the wizard in the Fire Element needs to set the leg ablaze as the other three wizards walk towards the center, taking five steps simotaniously. When the leg and the web is on fire, the Fire Wizard will meet their steps, forming an even circle again. Place down the ingredients on the ground in this order.
1. Merpeople Scale
2. Tree Branch
3. Angel's Trumpet
4. Spider Leg and Web on Fire
Finally, hold onto the vial of Acromantula Venom. All four wizards need to clasp hands and sing the following song. (Clark Author Crediting the writer of the Ballad of the Witches' Road for this, also crediting bing ai for helping me write a twist on it.)
"In umbris profundis et ubi secreta iacent, via sub caelo innocente panditur. Susurri tam mollia et corda tam magna ut fabulam texamus, et fabula narrata.
Audi vocem, cantus incipit. Saltatio fatum, ubi veritas nunc volvitur. Cum omni passu, rete quod teximus, dolus lucis cor decipit.
Per silvas antiquas et lucum lunarem, iter incipit, consilium paratur. Verbis lenibus, oculis tam benignis. Ducimus viam, secretum invenire.
Audi vocem, cantus incipit. Saltatio fatum, ubi veritas nunc volvitur. Cum omni passu, rete quod teximus, dolus lucis, cor decipit.
In sacris tomis, cantus cantamus. Melodia in susurris afferimus. Cum omni nota, magia crescit. Veritas occulta, victima novit.
Audi vocem, cantus incipit. Saltatio fatum, ubi veritas nunc volvitur. Cum omni passu, rete quod teximus, dolus lucis, cor decipit.
Sinite carmina umbrarum ludere, fabulas dolorum nocte et die. In fine, veritas se ostendet, stultorum ipsorum mala."
Reducio"In shadows deep and where secrets lie, a path unfolds beneath the innocent sky. Whispers so soft and hearts so big that we weave a tale, and the story told.
Heed the call, the chant begins. A dance of fate, where truth now spins. With every step, the web we weave, a trick of light a heart deceives.
Through ancient woods and moonlit glade, a journey starts, a plan is laid. With gentle words, eyes so kind. We lead the way, a secret to find.
Heed the call, the chant begins. A dance of fate, where truth now spins. With every step, the web we weave, a trick of light, a heart deceives.
In sacred tomes, the chant we sing. A melody on whispers we bring. With every note, the magic grows. A hidden truth, the victim knows.
Heed the call, the chant begins. A dance of fate, where truth now spins. With every step, the web we weave, a trick of light, a heart deceives.
Let the songs of the shadows play, the tales of trickery night and day. In the end, the truth will show, a fool's own woe."
Two things remain, the song is done, the ingredients are mostly done. But seeing as it isn't complete, now each wizard needs to avoid being meek. Out comes a blade and a slice of the hand will do. Blood must come dripping, walk up to the burning ingredients and let the blood of each Wizard in each Element drip onto the flame. Watch it crackle and shape itself around the wet blood drop.
To seal the deal, when every wizard has lost their blood, a simple word needs to be spoken before the final process can begin.
"Sanguis Nos Stillamus, Nos Vincimus Ad Te" Blood We Drip, We Bind To You
Finally, extinguish the flame with the acromantula venom as the flame should have been burning long enough on that small pile to be a small, miniscule size, easily put out by a tiny stream of liquid. When done, the moonlight from the Flower Moon must shine upon the charred remains of the ingredients, and a book will appear out of the ground, made out of each elements.
