Amber smiled as Casey did find her ball partner. Casey was really sweet. The fact that he was inviting her over to hang out with her ball partner was awesome. But Casey deserved his alone time with Emily. She smiled. "Thanks Casey! It was nice talking to you!" she replied.
And then Casey left with her ball partner Emily. And she was alone. She wandered around deciding to avoid the areas where there was fighting doing on. Spells were being cast, like usual, every ball had some form of chaos. She sighed. At least she wasn't involved with it. After a while she decided that maybe she should leave. Or at least go outside and get some fresh air. The air would let her think. Or maybe she didn't want to think? At least there she wouldn't get hit by some spells possibly. She watched as some young girls, younger than her were fighting with other people. The chaos. Maybe some other time she would have found it funny, but not now. Nope. Chaos was not her thing right now.
It had only been five or ten minutes since she had left Casey. Nonetheless she was not going back to him. Casey and Emily deserved their own time together. So she left the ball, the fun part and the chaos part to the fresh, peaceful air outside, trying not to think about how oddly today and the previous months of her life had been going.

Hedeon was definitely a troublemaker but one of the worst kinds. More like a bully than a prankster. Exactly the kind of person Tone didn't like, as well as Ye-jun it seemed, judging from his actions. He actually ended up punching Elizabeth in the face, despite Ye-jun trying to stop him. Elizabeth got off a spell of her own and although it looked like it would hit her attacker, Hedeon managed to evade.

Not only that but avoid it at the last second. Ah, what a shame.

It would have been poetic for Elizabeth's spell to have hit him too. But at least she seemed to understand hiding from Hedeon was the only way to stop this from continuing further. Tone glanced over at Ye-jun, sensing that the boy would probably be angered over what had just gone on. The Mahoutokoro student deduced from what he knew of Ye-jun, the boy wouldn't have been mad about having missed Hedeon but enraged that he'd been able to hit the girl in the face.

Ye-jun tried to throw a punch at Hedeon again, this time at his stomach. Tone quickly ran forward and grabbed him around the waist, dragging him back after the blow went through. Even though Tone wasn't as strong as Ye-jun as of right now, he was still much stronger than most might expect him and every day was getting stronger through repeated training. Strength was essential to a beater and he needed to get stronger or else would be left behind in the end by others.

LAST MODERATION ROUND

Ye-jun @Eun-ji Lee Hunt, indifferent to Hedeon's @Noah Jupe leaving shadow, threw one last punch at the bully. This one, fuelled by anger and backed by a reevaluation of his composure, would hit, despite Hedeon's fair enough attempt to dodge it. It was noble of him, giving the boy a taste of his own bitter medicine against his baseless bullying against a girl who was but a child. However, Tone, perhaps the less irrational of the two friends, would drag the elder boy back, showing more strength than one would expect from a teenager still lanky. As the fighting finally seemed to die down, Elizabeth, the poor target of the older Russian, would scamper across the room, taking advantage of the moment and hiding under a table. Everything was quietening, and while the ball planner would be absolutely mystified at how dances had morphed into brawls, Archer would be glad they had returned to some semblance of peace.

Ye-jun's accuracy: [d20: 14]+(12+2) = 28 < Hedeon's evasion: [d20: 7]+15= 22
HP loss: [100*16*0.9]/5 = 288

Despite the darkly macabre theme of the ball no murders would have happened, but, characteristically for a Hogwarts ball, they hadn't gone too far from it. The darkness itself however, was lifting and moonlight would soon be eclipsed by the illuminated room. After a proposal and a snake infestation, one would think the young students would be glad to find respite in their lodgings, or perhaps some still hesitated to leave, hoping to drink away their worries with the array of mocktails and distract themselves with a flurry of fancy attire. Either way, there would be no continuation of their make-believe detective story, only a voice broadcasting, "The Hogwarts Autumn Ball of 2024 has ended. Thank you for your participation and enjoy the night ahead."

So, like everything - good, or bad, you can be the judge of that -, the Gala of Mysteries was drawing to a close after a night of both laughter and tears. Gradually the candles lit themselves once more and the veil of night was drawn away. As the old storybooks would have it, "the end", but in the world of cinema we say: roll the credits.

OOC: Roll the credits indeed. I would like to thank all the other ball planners (Prat, Noah, Kia, Eugenia, and Cass) as well as Nora and Emma who helped us along the way! You were truly amazing to work with and this would not have come this far without all of you. And finally, thank you, players, for your wonderful, traumatising writing.

Aamon ended up danging most of the evening on his own. Xiomarra was there somewhere most certainly, just she had other more pressing matters. Perhaps the buffet. She had a healthy appetite for someone small. He admittedly envied her ability to enjoy the simple things. Things that he was under strict orders to avoid, although he wondered about the logic of this. How paranoid did someone have to be to believe that someone was out to get them at the young age of 12. he did not believe that, but his family most certainly did.

He let out a sigh, looking forlorn at the tables and at the other students that mingled. It must be nice, he thought to himself. He was one of the first to officially leave, he made a waving motion as he departed in hopes that Xiomarra saw but he did not think she even noticed him. He was a bit disappointed, he thought she was pretty and that she might be fun. He had met a lot of pretty girls, in fact just about every girl in Hogwarts was an absolute stunner. He wanted more than a pretty girl that can remind him about her wonderful pedigree and how excited she is that she is getting a new dress from her papa. The shallow existence that pervaded the lives of most of his peers made him feel alone. Made him feel somehow wrong. How was it that they existed so simply. No, stupidly. He swallowed his disappointment and replaced his expression with the hint of a smile as he made his way out of the Great Hall.

Elizabeth looked around hesitantly. Then, slowly and cautiously, she slid out from under the table. As her eyes alighted on her cat Snowy whom she'd forgotten was here, she broke into a smile, and knelt down as Snowy leapt into her lap.

Getting up and holding Snowy in her arms, she slowly turned, surveying the room. It was, in her opinion, scary how the evening had turned out. Slowly heading towards the exit, she stopped next to the girl who had helped out. "Thank you." She said, slipping the string-bracelet she had knotted together towards the girl.

She was glad that she was unscathed, except for the blow which undoubtedly would pain her later on. Whispering to Snowy that it was all done, she let her down and watched as she strode away in the direction of the exit. A faint smile crossed her face and she slowly started to follow her cat but stopped after a few steps.

Turning around, she took a last look around and took a mental picture. She wasn't proud of how her first ball had gone but now, she would have an easier time deciding for the next one. All in all, she had made more good acquaintances than bad ones. Perhaps someday they'd meet again, and, if they did, she'd decide whether or not it was worth having revenge or not. For now, she was tired...yet full of energy.

She turned around and started walking out.

Allyssa sat up and realized that it was over. She'd somehow gotten lost in her thoughts for a few minutes. She stared, wide-eyed at the room, taking everything in, putting it in her mind.

As the girl she'd helped slowly came around with, what Allyssa assumed was her cat, she stopped by Allyssa with a murmured thanks, slipping a string-bracelet to her. "I hope we meet up again. Under different circumstances of course." She called after the girl. If they ever met up again, she'd ask the girl's name.

"I wish I'd had a more enjoyable time here. At least I helped keep her safe." She muttered to herself, switching to Russian. Sliding off the table, she started moving in the direction of the exit. Noticing that the girl had briefly stopped, she jogged a few steps before joining pace.

She didn't dare link hands in case the girl jerked her hand away or changed whatever her opinion was of her. It was best to let her be instead of ruining her evening even more that it already was. Slowing her steps, she slipped the bracelet over her left hand and let it dangle on her wrist. Next time they saw each other again, she'd have to give her a friendship bracelet that matched this one.

Yeah…he was definitely more of a puncher, alright? Ye-jun evaluated once again when his next hit landed despite the boy trying to avoid it. Good. Get a taste your own medicine. The Beauxbatons student doubted this would change anything. People like that guy didn’t change just because they got hit once but it was still satisfying that he had to suffer at least some punishment. He for sure deserved it.

Ye-jun didn't have much more time to dwell on his feeling of vindication however since he was swiftly dragged away from the ‘crime’ scene. He had no doubt that if he decided to fight, he could have stopped it but since he was aware it was for his own good, he didn't bother. Besides, this person was surprisingly strong. Once they were at a safe distance and the Korean boy felt a bit calmer, he finally turned around to see his backer. Perhaps not surprisingly, it turned out to be Tone. Once again, the Mahoutokoro wizard managed to bring him back before did something he'd regret. He was grateful but also somewhat embarrassed. “Thank you.” Ye-jun gave the younger boy a wry smile. “You must think me a terrible brute, huh?” He couldn’t help but ask.

The Korean boy thought it was truly a shame Tone and he met, when he was at his worst. Well, not at his worst per se…he at least wasn’t there when it all started. That summer was something he never wanted to talk about ever again. For once, he understood why Eun-ji didn’t like to talk about what was going on in her life and how she felt about it. Ye-jun would be mortified if anyone close to him found out what he did back then and most importantly, what he wanted to do. “I know this looks bad but I swear going around beating people is not my only hobby.”

When Eun-ji acquiesced to the proposal of an early out, Pericles thought himself in the clear. Their arms wove into a neat hook, then they trailed towards the door, ready to leave the mint-drenched room behind them. Her sudden pause anchored him, eliciting a yearning look for the exit. She was speaking with Eve. Rather than meet the Gryffindor's flinty gray eyes, the warlock aimed his frown at the nearest wall. He did his best to look disinterested as his partner relayed her vote for the bartender- evidently the true culprit- and would share no parting words for the room.

Pericles was sulking. The look he fixed on the ballroom itself was one of disdain, sour mood feeding into his impatience over whatever madness had seized its attendees. Hogwarts was notorious for how readily its students turned to violence, and as much as he failed to understand his friend's dismissiveness, he couldn't grasp why they were so eager to try and harm one another. At least they seemed to be reentering as the worst of it was quelled. All the same, the Ravenclaw's mind was less preoccupied with the mess in front of them than the one they'd left behind. He tried to dismiss it, shrugging off any kind of concern. "She made it abundantly clear that she doesn't want to talk." The injury was hidden away, expression hard and voice gone cool. "It's fine. I have nothing to say," he lied. The night was growing late and the opportunity to act was dwindling. As much as his spark of intention had been snuffed out, there was still another objective on the agenda.

The eagle-eyed wizard skimmed the faces filtering out from various game rooms. The gala was coming to a close, and if they were to act, they would need to do so promptly. Their audience had arrived. It was time for their show to come to climax. Arm slithering out of Eun-ji's, Peri held up his palm, inviting: "We should dance while we still can."

Ula Takahashi didn't simply enter a room—she arrived.

The hum of conversation, laughter, and music filled the air as she paused at the threshold of the ballroom, with her chin lifted she surveyed the sea of students and staff who had dressed themselves to varying degrees of...success. Her lips twitched into a faint smirk as her gaze flitted over the crowd, sharp eyes cataloging details: the hem of one girl's too-long gown dragging dangerously close to her heels—clearly oblivious to the noir theme, her pastel floral dress looking more fit for a summer garden party—and the boy whose suit jacket seemed two sizes too big, clearly lacking the proper tailoring.

Jeez, she thought to herself, averting her eyes, deciding she had enough. Straightening her posture, she stepped confidently into the room, commanding attention with each deliberate movement.

She was a vision in a fitted vintage floral dress, its 1940s silhouette a perfect nod to the noir theme. The crisp white collar framed her neckline, a pearl necklace resting neatly at its base, and her gloved hands—a deep black satin—rested elegantly against the fabric of her dress.. It was the kind of look that demanded attention in subtle, quiet ways, with its old-Hollywood charm.

As her heels clicked softly on the polished floor, she caught sight of Irina Cawthorne, the one she befriended at Madam Malkin's. The girl's suit caught her eye—stylish, tailored, and honestly one of the better looks in the room. Irina had a knack for these things. Ula's smirk softened into something warmer, though not by much.

And then there was…her former tent member from Summer Camp?

Their slightly rumpled attire was so them it hurt—effortless and mismatched. Ula rolled her eyes fondly as she approached, her posture loose but deliberate, like a cat weaving through a room it already owned.

"Look at the two of you," she drawled as she stepped into their line of sight. Her voice carried, as it always did, a mix of amusement and dry commentary. "Irina, you're one velvet glove away from making Yves Saint Laurent weep in his grave. And you…" She tilted her head slightly, a sly grin tugging at her lips. "Congratulations on… showing up, I suppose."

She folded her arms and gave an exaggerated once-over of the room before looking back at them. "So, what's the plan? Are we people-watching, or are we here to make the night a little more interesting?"

Her tone left no doubt—interesting meant trouble.

Luckily, Ye-jun allowed himself to be pulled backward by him. Tone knew Ye-jun was probably stronger than him but he was getting stronger every day he trained on his own. One day he'd be just as strong if not stronger than him! But it wasn't a test of strength between the two of them. It was more like a sense of comradery and trust that the two of them shared together. They'd gotten much closer lately.

Mostly through consistent owls since they didn't see eachother every day.

Once Tone had pulled him back enough so that he didn't think Ye-jun would go after Hedeon again, the fifteen year old released him. Ye-jun turned his head to see who was behind him and then thanked him with a wry grin on his face, asking if he thought him a terrible brute. "Hah. Of course not. You're a good old sweetheart!" Tone said with a smile and reached up to clap him on the shoulder. "But that boy was really asking for it anyway, the nerve of him to go after a younger girl like that!" He said with a shake of his head.

"You should always follow your heart in matters." Tone reassured him. "And if you're worried about going too far, don't be, I'll always be there by your side to stop you from doing anything you'll truly regret later." He added. As Ye-jun told him that he really wasn't the sort of person who went around beating others up all the time, Tone nodded, agreeing with Ye-jun.

"I believe you. You just get caught up in the wrong place at the wrong time and can't help but let your protective side out, right?" He said, not judging him at all because it wasn't as if anyone was perfect. Tone himself was far from being perfect. It was around this time that Tone heard a voice broadcasting throughout the area, signaling the official end of this year's fall ball at Hogwarts.

"It looks like the ball is over but there are still people milling around, want to check out what's still going on?" Tone asked, not wanting to leave just yet since he'd only recently reunited with Ye-jun and wanted to spend more time with him! It wasn't very often foreign students got to come to Hogwarts unless it was for a ball being held there. Which so happened to be going on now.
