Whispers of the Dark
As the room was adjourned with an erected wall that Noah cast (Structure Building Charm), he put up a picture of a muggle suburbish town, as there were houses in the background. The streets had a few pebbles and a random pothole in the street. The grass was nearly trimmed and kept up, the houses looked a bit beat up on the offhand. He put a pot with a tree in it directly in the center of the room so there was at least some live greenery in the approximate area.
The next thing Prat and Noah did was set up a small table that had a non-alcoholic spicy margarita and a platter of hors d'oeuvre. It was nothing too extravagant but he wanted to try and ensure that the scene came to life in some way.
In September, Noah had asked his fathers for a nerf gun, something he couldn’t bear to ask his muggle neighbor Mario for, and his fathers sent him one via owl. It was a Colt M1911 and it had foam bullets and he wanted to use that for the game tonight. OC godmod: Noah and Prat met with a [faceless] npc of sixth year and they obliged his request to cast the Silencing Charm on the gun so that when it fired it was silent.
Now, Noah and Prat made identification cards for his groups. He also made invitations with the information about their characters as well as their secrets and grudges and how they know one another. He sent everyone who signed up an owl and the murderer got the nerf gun along with their ID card and their invitations and character information. They were instructed to try to conceal the gun in their invitation because otherwise it would be pretty obvious that he were the murderer.
When it was time for the game to begin, he stood there in his World War Two British Military suit saluting each person who came in. "Come in sirs and madams."Information Section: Please ReadReducioInformation

Notice
Every mod post, you will notice that the light goes out every time there is a murder. The light stays out for 1 minute to allow the murderer to conceal the weapon in some way and to avoid suspicion. When the light goes out, you'll hear a bang from the nerf gun and if you feel yourself getting shot with a foam bullet, you have been killed. You may lay down on the ground and play dead. You may find a funny pose to be in, whatever. When the light goes back on, a vote will be held to accuse someone of the murder.
I've been accused of a murder! What do I do?
Well dearie, you would've been considered "executed" if the majority votes you as murderer. This means that you are out. The game is over when all of the players are dead except for the detective and murderer, or when the murderer has been accused and executed.
How do I vote?
Every round, you need to send me an owl of who you're voting or accusing. Additionally you MUST post otherwise your vote will be seen as invalid.
I did not post for a round or more, what happens? (if you don't send me your vote but post, it's okay, don't worry about it.)
The murderer will likely kill you the next round.
I'm the murderer! What happens now?
Post each round. Send me your target via owl. In Character, when the lights go out, you can pull out your nerf gun and shoot your target. You will have the rest of the minute to hide the gun or conceal it.
I'm the detective! What happens now?
Post each round. Send me your accused victim via owl. You cannot be killed.
I'm a doctor! What happens now?
Post each round. Send me your accused victim via owl. There will be a second blackout in the mod post in where you will have a CHANCE of healing the shot victim.
I was a shot victim! I was healed!
Good for you, you may continue in the game. However, one of your limbs have been ic AMPUTATED so in roleplay, you would not have that limb because the doctor amputated the shot limb.
What if I have to leave Out of Character and I'm the Murderer or a Doctor or a Detective?
That's fine, just please notify us at some point. We will owl another person and give them an additional "title" for their character that they are already playing. For example: Baker is now Murderer but still the same character, you don't gain another. When it comes to a detective and a doctor, unfortunately, we won't pass it on. The game continues until its over.
Please note: We are taking actions via owl so that actions and votes are anonymous to keep the mystery. What you choose to say or do in your post whether ooc or ic can be used against you so do your best to keep your "secret" role anonymous. If you are a detective or a murderer it can be used against you if you say it out loud. We suggest coming up with an undercover job to conceal the fact. Not required, you could be vague, but what you say and do whether oc or ic can be used against you.Mod Post Content: Mods

Whispers of the Dark

| (@Eun-ji Lee Hunt) (@Hanako Tone) (@Evelynn Decipio) (@Noah Jupe) | (Cont. from) |
┏ ┓ “She looks beautiful.” Eun-ji had whispered, eliciting a wistful frown from Pericles. "She always does," he murmured back, almost involuntarily, to the distracted tune of someone slipping their thoughts aloud. “…also very much alone. Perhaps you’ll get to steal her by the end of tonight.” A half-hopeful smile quirked at that- it would take some initiative on his end, and hopefully Hanako would follow suit. His heart's dilemma was redirected to hers as he asked "Any sign of yours...?" Pear followed her stare to the distant commotion come the quiet “Yes.” While Eun-ji tended to shy from the spotlight, Hana didn't hesitate to throw himself into it full-heartedly. He wagered the unorthodox duo would bring some balance to one another... that is, if tonight's ploy won out. Seeing the flicker of anguish across his faux date's face made him hope all the more that it would. While his feelings for Evelynn were new and freshly realized, Eun-ji seemed to have been stuffing hers away for an awfully long time. Even as she smiled and suggested they go on to the games, the witch radiated the sense that it was difficult to distance herself from a certain someone. Offering the most supportive look he could muster, Peri progressed towards the trial arm-in-arm.
It wasn't his first murder mystery game, but this was lining up to be among the more interesting ones, vastly due to who he'd soon be sharing it with. Noah's salute earned a charmed smile and a mock bow of the head, lapsing effortlessly into thespian graces. Pericles ran his hand over the outside of his vest pocket, absently assuring his invitation was still folded up inside. He would begin the initial round by wryly introducing himself as "Tony DeLuca, local handyman."┗ ┛

Whispers of the Dark
Her heart was heavy as she left the main room, arm in arm with her partner in crime. Nevertheless, Eun-ji would like to believe that she knew Hana well enough to claim that his loud confession was merely yet another meaningless act of theatrics. Her understanding of him grew as she got to know him better and realised the Slytherin was a far more complicated person than she had previously imagined. She also believed that if he truly cared about someone, he would not behave in this manner. Not to mention his apparent love interest was the one and only Matthias Pride, which was just absurd. Even his own girlfriend looked spooked by him.
Still, even knowing all this, it didn't mean Eun-ji was entirely unaffected. Although perhaps it was more of a worry for his safety rather than simple jealousy that clouded her unnaturally reasonable nature this time. The situation back there seemed to be getting messier with each passing second and Hana was now actively tangled in that wreckage. She did not have any right to stay behind and protect him however. Besides, more than enough of her classmates already gathered to intervene. The witch didn't know Winnie well enough to want to join the crowd. Things were bound to get out of hand. Even the game she was about to partake in suddenly sounded less dreadful than what would probably be going on out there. She just hoped Eve would be able to join them. It would be a perfect opportunity for her and Peri. If they could just give her the right kind of push…
As the Ravenclaw pair walked through the artificially formed background for the game, a strangely eerie feeling settled over Eun-ji. She did appreciate the effort that went into it but she was especially curious about the whole "no magic zone" element. That being said, the witch was not about to test it. Hogwarts made her paranoid enough not to try. She didn't know whether casting a spell here would simply do nothing or whether there would be some kind of retribution for defying the rules. Better do nothing and just believe them…
Instead, the witch silently recapped what she remembered about her given role. It felt funny playing a housemaid in her current getup but contrary to what others might have thought about her, Eun-ji was not entirely unfamiliar with the job. She was raised to take care of the house and learned to cook at a very early age. Thanks to this, her family home always remained spotless despite her parents' insane working hours. Hardly anyone at the school would know this however. Her image was perfectly crafted by Mrs. Hunt to portray a flawless pure-blood heiress that didn't have to lift a finger and whose only job was to accomplish great things and look pretty. Of course, the reality couldn't be farther from the truth but the Ravenclaw didn’t bother correcting any assumptions about her person. In the past perhaps, now it was almost convenient. She was not really looking for friends.
Smiling and nodding at Noah, the witch finally let go of Peri’s hand and looked around the room. Her posture remained proper but perhaps a bit more subdued than usual. After all, this was not a role, which required too much of her faked confidence. At the same time however, her expression wasn't exactly meek. This was a game of murder. Too much innocence would only stand out in the crowd and she doubted any of the characters were designed to be entirely without flaw. “Ladies and gentlemen. I'm your housemaid Jessica Marina. Should you need something, I'm at your service.” She followed her "date's" example by introducing her character briefly.

| xxx | 𝒮omehow (largely because the galadrama is still unfolding) Evelynn and @Allister-Jameson MacAllister had managed to extract themselves from the main hall long enough to attend the murder mystery. While both of the game of intrigue and the haunted halls had presented themselves as potentially entertaining events, the lioness could hardly pass up an opportunity to solve a puzzle. Intellectual pursuits had always been one of her stronger suits, and she found herself particularly curious about the claim to maintain an area of antimagic. Moreover, the notion of wandering in the dark on a date with a boy had left her feeling hesitant, so she had favoured the safer option. "How many rounds do you think we will survive?" she wondered with a teasing smile.
Unfortunately, the sparse decoration made it impossible to miss the other attendants, and with their prim appearances, they gave the impression of a couple that had taken a wrong turn down a dark road when they intended to head for the opera. Lips had thinned slightly upon noting the presence of @Pericles Dralt and @Eun-ji Lee Hunt, the lily that had been leisurely twirling back and forth within her fingers growing still. With everyone who had elected to give the game their attention, of course they just had to have been grouped together. Fate had a sour sense of humour today, it seemed. To any greeting sent her way, she would return it with a guarded expression and hesitant lift of her fingers in a sort of half-wave. Her palm pressed against the inside of AJ's arm, eyes flicking up and sidelong to seek his while her head tilted towards the table of refreshments. Internal sirens had begun a slow early-stage warning call. As much as she might have wanted to retreat, she wasn't willing to tuck tail and yield ground, but it still prompted her to avoid interaction with the other pair as long as possible. Of course, that could only last so long. Once the introductions began, she was obliged to follow suit. Neither of the names spoken so far aligned with anything that had been shared with her in the owled character synopsis she'd received, so she thought nothing of them. "Charmed," she replied with a sweet smile that didn't quite meet her eyes once Miss Hunt had concluded her greeting. "Sofia Mancini," Evelynn continued. Her exposure to Pierre had afforded her enough experience to adopt an Italian accent, though she tempered it with a touch of French to ease up on the staccato and play more into the silky sweet that her character was meant to represent. "I own a bakery down the street," she went on, eyes dropping to the table next to which she stood. Gloved fingers lofted a succulent lemon tart. "Do come by for a treat. I am told my baking is to die for." She hadn't meant to, but her gaze had settled to catch that of Miss Hunt's as she sarcastically enunciated the final portion of her invitation, right before taking a bite of the tart. |

AJ entered the area, arm held out for Evelynn. He smiles softly as he sees her hand still holding the white lily he had so suddenly presented her with. He still wondered if she would have preferred the full bouquet he had purchased, but there was no real sense dwelling on hypotheticals now. She seemed happy, so he was happy too.
She asked him about their odds of survival, and he met her teasing smile with a smile of his own. "Noowen malluck ah'v ben kulled ullredduh an jus' havnae notussed ye'" "Knowing my luck I've been killed already and just haven't noticed yet." He jokes playfully as he spots the other members of their group whom were already assembled. He was excited to be doing a murder mystery, even if Evelynn seemed to be made slightly tense by the present company.
He heard Evelynn introduce herself in character, listening as she flawlessly slipped into an accent. For the sake of everyone present, AJ was not going to try and follow suit in the accent department and elected to just speak in his usual clear, easy to understand manner.
"Ets ah plushure..." "Its a pleasure." He nods his head to everyone present, trying to mentally make notes on their names and mannerisms. "Mah neem es..." "My name is..." He pauses for a moment as he tries to recall. "Em...Doctohr...Its Doc...summen..." "Em...Doctor...Its Doc...something..." He runs a hand through his hair before finally opting to quickly pop a peek at the character info in his back pocket, being careful to not let anyone else see. "Ah reeght! Doctuhr Juhvanny Murrutti." "Ah right! Doctor Giovanni Moretti." He finally manages, tucking the note away in his pocket. "Greet teh be heer." "Great to be here." He grins widely, as if that intro had gone off without a hitch.

| xxx | ℱor several seconds after @Allister-Jameson MacAllister had delivered his introduction, Evelynn stood silent, simply staring at him, the silk gloved fingers that had only recently been relieved of their pastry burden still hovering within inches of her mouth. "You were assigned Giovanni?!" Her French-Italian accent slipped back into British, dropping character in her surprise. "Perhaps you really are plagued with ill luck," she laughed, incredulity and amusement harmonizing in an airy note. She withdrew her hand from his arm, silken fingers dusted whatever particles may have remained from her lips as she took a retreating step. The lily lofted threateningly between them, held up as one might hold a knife to ward off an aggressor. Amusement twisted into contempt, lines etching themselves between her brows. "A doctor, you say.." she echoed, reverting back to a French-Italian accent and emphasizing his title to make sure anyone present wouldn't miss that particular little detail. A kinder date may have gently informed AJ that he probably should have kept that information to himself given the role that the healthcare provider character tended to play in these sorts of games. But she had her goal, and it didn't involve sparing the doctor's life. "Do you recall how you disparaged my craft? Regarding my pies to be too sweet? How you claimed to anyone who would listen how I poison them? Really?" She pursed her lips, looking down her nose at him as much as one could when there was at least a six inch different between their heights, and not in her favour. The flower withdrew, wrist growing lax to let it nearly fall from her grip. Nearly. She wouldn't let it actually fall to the floor, though. That would spoil his gift, and she wanted to preserve it. "Tell me, Doctor, if I poison my baking, how would you have eaten it to know it was too sweet and still be standing here before me, mn? For what purpose would that even serve? My bakery has survived through my family through five generations--" Sure, why couldn't she go off on a limb and embellish a little bit. "--through my mother before me, my grand-pappi before her, my great-grand-pappi, and my great-great-grand-mami who grew that bakery--" She gestured vaguely in the direction of the suburban imagery. "--by selling pies out of her home kitchen window. How dare you disgrace the Mancini name. I ought to file a report for slander." |

Whispers of the Dark
Ah…do I spy jealousy? Eun-ji’s expression did not change but she was secretly delighted. Evelynn and she didn’t know each other well enough to harbour any strong personal animosity yet it was clear the Gryffindor wasn’t thrilled to see her. Sure, playing her role could have something to do with it but the slight hesitance upon their entrance and the fact that she did not even attempt to appear friendly, told Eun-ji her character was not the only reason for Eve’s standoffish behaviour. She subtly nudged Peri’s shoulder with her own. Not in a way that would make it seem like they were planning something, although they were, more like a natural touch she didn’t even realise happened. To make herself look like a girl on date she may have genuinely be interested in. It was time to play a game within a game.
“Oh I’m sure they are, Miss Mancini.” The Ravenclaw replied with a fake sweetness in her voice. Her body language remained perfectly polite, but her energy matched the red head well. “It’s a shame I cannot stomach any sweets. I would love to try your cupcakes.” Funnily enough, Eun-ji herself wasn’t a huge fan of sweet stuff but her subtle dislike for the beautiful girl in front of her was an utter sham. Eve wouldn't know that of course since they mostly seen each other in classes but Eun-ji didn't mind. Whether Evelynn assumed, she was simply acting as a somewhat rude housemaid or whether she thought the black haired witch herself was unpleasant, didn't matter. She was used to people having a low opinion of her and thinking the Ravenclaw was yet another stuck up pure-blood roaming the Hogwarts corridors. If this was a sign that hers and Peri's plan might be working, then she'd happily become a target for tonight.
Looking at Eve's date, Eun-ji's smile turned sincere. “Well, it's nice to meet you, Mr Moretti.” She acknowledged his presence kindly since he was being friendly. She had no reason to play with AJ's feelings. He was even more of a stranger to her than his fiery lady and she doubted he had any idea about whatever was happening between Eve and Peri. At least Peri did not mention anything about him prior to the ball and she didn't want to presume anything. AJ did make a mistake regarding their actual game however. Evelynn noticed too and didn’t hesitate to pursue the lead. Smart. Still, Eun-ji couldn't help but wonder whether it was truly just a rookie error or a really clever mislead from the staff. Better to listen some more before making any rash decisions.
“Oh, what a daring claim. Did you actually say that, Mr Moretti?” The which pretended to be scandalised by the "doctor's" alleged accusation rather than focusing on his job for now. After that, she simply listened on to the baker's ongoing tirade about their family business. It was quite amusing really, but Eun-ji could not smile. That wouldn't be in character for her. “Well, you wouldn't be very smart if you poisoned everyone. Especially those who accused you of doing so.” She mumbled under her breath instead. It was loud enough for those that paid attention to hear but quiet enough to make it clear the housemaid did not want to have the other woman overhear.

Attending a murder mystery after your boyfriend fiancée had made a threat on both your life and your friend's lives was a questionable choice, but Winnie had signed up for the event ahead of time and wasn't entirely sure if she was allowed to back out of it at the last minute.
So, after whatever drama during the gala had concluded, she managed to slip away to go and find her group. (I am leaving this vague since the gala drama is ongoing and we are assuming this takes place later). She took in her modified surroundings, her brows raising. It was impressive how Noah and Pratt had managed to plan such a large group event.
Winnie was, by no means, an actress, so seeing how easily everyone slipped into their roles was a bit nerve wrecking, and it took her a moment to even remember what her character's name was meant to be. She was a bit jealous of Eve and Eun-ji for getting to be female characters.
She pulled a piece of folded up paper out of her purse and squinted at the text. It was something Noah had sent her via owl. She begin reading the paper's contents in a monotone voice, "... Hi, my name is Vito Rossi and my position is a bartender, my status is a civilian, and my goal is to avoid dy--" Oh wait, she wasn't supposed to say that part. "OH! No, I'm sorry! My goal is to make everyone drinks, including you pretty ladies--" She desperately tried to cover up her mistake by winking over at Eun-ji.

Mathias couldn’t suppress the faint smirk tugging at his lips as he watched Winnie stumble over her character’s introduction. Her nervous energy was amusing, her awkward attempt to salvage the moment by winking at Eun-ji somehow both endearing and utterly transparent. The entire mystery setup was impressive, he had to admit, and as he scanned the area, the game’s dim lighting and eerie props cast shadows that felt strangely fitting. More importantly, Percival was nowhere to be seen—a quiet relief.
As Winnie squinted down at her paper, brow furrowed with concentration, he found himself almost entertained by her naivety. She could feign innocence, trip over her lines, and pretend to be a bartender named Vito Rossi, but underneath it all, she knew who held the real script. And yet here she was, playing along with her usual wide-eyed sincerity. If anything, her participation in this little charade felt like an extension of their own twisted game—a layer of pretend over the very real stakes.
Leaning closer, he spoke just low enough for her to hear, his voice laced with mock encouragement. “Careful now, Vito,” he murmured, an amused edge to his tone. “Wouldn’t want to let slip too many secrets before the game’s even started.”
He straightened, casting a quick glance at the other participants, his confidence rising in Percival’s absence. Whatever worries she had about the night’s events, he could tell she was still flustered from earlier, her friends’ subtle warnings rattling around in her head like loose change. Good. A small taste of fear kept things in perspective.
He looked down at his own card. Interesting he laughed internally, the mirth reaching his eyes. "My name is Carlo Bianchi," he claimed with his best or perhaps worst impression of an Italian accent. "I teach at the local middle school, and I am absolutely innocent of all wrong doing." Convincing, no? His hazel eyes flickered dangerously towards Allister-Jameson MacAllister, "it is not as if he" he pointed at Allister who had allegedly gotten the Giovanni card "did not deserve what he got... it just was not by my hand."

It took a moment for AJ to remember they were playing a game when Evelynn slipped her arm from his and stepped away from him. For a moment he worried she was going to let the lily drop to the floor between them, but he was glad to see she was taking the role quite that seriously.
It seemed his classic brand of ill-fortune had blessed him with a character that was not exactly Mr. Popular amongst the others, but he planned to take it in stride. He could hear the chiding tone distinctly in Evelynn's voice and slightly more playfully in that of Eun-Ji. Or rather the voices of Sofia and Jessica as they were currently. He examined his ID card again and frowned to see if he'd made a mistake. Yet he had read the name as it was written, so if they wished murder upon him just for completing his years of med school, then they could come and try it.
Of those assembled he didn't not know most of them well if at all. Pericles he knew by name and reputation. The other boy was often spoken of in high regard. Eun-Ji was more of an enigma, he was certain they had seen each other around Hogwarts, likely even shared a class or two. But as for conversation he was pretty sure this was the first time they had spoken. Winnie certainly seemed familiar, even beyond the events of the Gala just prior. Mathias was more of an unknown. Something about him made the hairs on the back of AJ's neck prick up uncomfortably. Even beyond the reactions of folks from the Gala, there was some uncertain sense of discomfort that radiated off the boy. Even beyond the realms of this murder mystery AJ planned to keep an eye on him.
"So menny jehnurayshuns af yer fameleh? Uf oonleh ald ulso men' goo' yed 'ave ah wenner Munsenny." "So many generations of your family? If only old also meant good you'd have a winner there Mancini." He jabs back at Sofia's declarations triumphantly, deciding to dance around the issue of her poisoned goods somewhat, mostly because he had little to no clue how poisoned these things actually were or not.
"Ah see alotteh thengs. Sem troo sem no'." "I say a lotta things. Some true some not." He murmurs playfully to Eun-Ji. Es fer avoiden dye, aye ah wud too...ah wence wor'ed a' ah selk fecturry an' tha' yoost teh daub th' keds heeds weth dyes tha' wud kemuckleh cheenj th' culler af th'heer. Ets no ah gud plan." "As for avoiding dye, yes I would too...I once worked at a silk factory and they used to daub the kids heads with dyes that would chemically change the colour of their hair. Its not a good plan." He smiles at Winnie, trying to add a bit of levity to her supposed flub, to remind her that this was merely fun and games, and mistakes were all a part of that.
Finally he turns his gaze upon Mathias and smirks slightly. Accents might not have been AJ's thing, but he could certainly get into the role he was assigned. "Whoose t'see, Muster Unnuhcen'?" Who's to say? Mr. Innocent?"
