Whispers of the Dark Group 7

The pitter pattering of the rain was so calming to him. He felt like it was the most unique experience he could have gone through. He took a deep breath, ignoring what was being said for a second and exhaled. He repeated the process a few times, allowing the peppermint smell to fill his nostrils. It was really.. minty and he was not complaining. It was kind of cool.

The Gryffindor elder had nothing much to say so he might as well begin, right? There were only seven people standing in the group so far: Rose, Cassian, Mahlioz, Avis, Mylo, Maximilen, and Meiyu. This shouldn’t take too terribly long.. Right? Well, considering its been a few rounds and absolutely no one has been voted out or has died... its possible it could go all night long.

He slammed his hands onto the cold, hard walls with as much force as he possibly could, loud slapping noises, the skin peeling off of the wall as he retracted them. “It’s time to begin.”

The lights went out.

This time, the lights stayed out for approximately 3 minutes. When he felt it was time to turn back on the light, he felt the need to acknowledge that he had seen something fly across the room, the dim (yet natural) light reflecting off of the orange plastic tip prior the enabling of the light. Bingo.

“I saw a bulletttttttt” He cackled. Anyways. Serious face. He couldn’t keep looking like a maniac. Not right now. Maybe next round.

He sucked the air through his teeth. Well. Time to announce who the eliminated is? Nah, no one is out. They’re still in. “Guys, no one has voted anyone out. There has been no majority.”

Notice
Every mod post, you will notice that the light goes out every time there is a murder. The light stays out for 1 minute to allow the murderer to conceal the weapon in some way and to avoid suspicion. When the light goes out, you'll hear a bang from the nerf gun and if you feel yourself getting shot with a foam bullet, you have been killed. You may lay down on the ground and play dead. You may find a funny pose to be in, whatever. When the light goes back on, a vote will be held to accuse someone of the murder.

I've been accused of a murder! What do I do?
Well dearie, you would've been considered "executed" if the majority votes you as murderer. This means that you are out. The game is over when all of the players are dead except for the detective and murderer, or when the murderer has been accused and executed.

How do I vote?
Every round, you need to send me an owl of who you're voting or accusing. Additionally you MUST post otherwise your vote will be seen as invalid.

I did not post for a round or more, what happens? (if you don't send me your vote but post, it's okay, don't worry about it.)
The murderer will likely kill you the next round.

I'm the murderer! What happens now?
Post each round. Send me your target via owl. In Character, when the lights go out, you can pull out your nerf gun and shoot your target. You will have the rest of the minute to hide the gun or conceal it.

I'm the detective! What happens now?
Post each round. Send me your accused victim via owl. You cannot be killed.

I'm a doctor! What happens now?
Post each round. Send me your accused victim via owl. There will be a second blackout in the mod post in where you will have a CHANCE of healing the shot victim.

I was a shot victim! I was healed!
Good for you, you may continue in the game. However, one of your limbs have been ic AMPUTATED so in roleplay, you would not have that limb because the doctor amputated the shot limb.

What if I have to leave Out of Character and I'm the Murderer or a Doctor or a Detective?
That's fine, just please notify us at some point. We will owl another person and give them an additional "title" for their character that they are already playing. For example: Baker is now Murderer but still the same character, you don't gain another. When it comes to a detective and a doctor, unfortunately, we won't pass it on. The game continues until its over.

Please note: We are taking actions via owl so that actions and votes are anonymous to keep the mystery. What you choose to say or do in your post whether ooc or ic can be used against you so do your best to keep your "secret" role anonymous. If you are a detective or a murderer it can be used against you if you say it out loud. We suggest coming up with an undercover job to conceal the fact. Not required, you could be vague, but what you say and do whether oc or ic can be used against you.

Well, this was getting lame. They were what, 3 rounds in? 4? And not a single death. Apparently, the murderer was a really bad shot. This was honestly getting a bit annoying. She frowned and crossed her arm. She spoke in a dry, sarcastic monotony. "Wow. Isn't this exciting." She scanned the room and shrugged. "It seems like no one is ever going to die, so...in the interest of not being here all night, I think we really ought to vote someone out. The one the detective's mad at maybe, or the one who hasn't spoken this entire time." She gestured at Mylo. "Or vote for me. I really don't care. I'm just tired. This all would be much more exciting if, you know, something happened" She glared a bit at Noah, even though she knew it wasn't his fault. She rolled her eyes, and just sat there. There wasn't much to do, besides look at the same people over and over again. No one was really giving any hints, so Avis slipped over and leaned against a wall, pulling at a chunk of her hair and beginning to braid it. The rain was getting a bit annoying, but it made her hair stick nicely and it braided easily. If anyone were to look at her, she would jokingly raise her eyebrows in an exaggerated questioning look.

Rose nodded at Maxi as he agreed with her, saying she had a point. As the lights turned off and then back on again, Noah announced that, once again, there was no majority and no murder. Rose sighed quietly, crossing her arms, and she was sure that she wasn't the only one exasperated by this slow game. This was like in a duel, when nobody hit each other for rounds. She guessed it was technically better than being killed or voted out, but was it really? Right now, she was just a little bored, and though she didn't like Carlo's attitude, she had to admit that they were right.

"I think we should vote Carlo," she said, shrugging. It didn't particularly matter to her who was voted out, but this was getting very repetitive, and at this point, they'd be here until they had to go to class on Monday. She was probably a little biased, since the other two suspects that Carlo mentioned, Maria and Sophia, hadn't been nearly as vocal, and certainly hadn't said anything about how they were glad somebody got shot. "Since they want to leave anyway. But either way, Carlo's right- this is dragging on, and we should vote someone out." Rose looked to Mahlioz- they were the detective, so their thoughts carried a little more weight, but they hadn't said anything in a couple of minutes. "What do you think, Alessio?"

As the lights came back on they showed another bullet on the ground, and thus another missed shot by the murderer. Mylo had to admit that it was starting to become a little ridiculous that they were this far into the game and nobody had been killed or voted out.

Although unlike Avis they were still enjoying the game. Mylo knew they had been a bit on the quieter side but they hadn't been completely silent which made them feel a little on edge towards the girl, not knowing if the things she was saying was a part of her role and meant to be taken in a joking way or if she truly thought they were the murderer and the game was boring.

But as they heard Rose go in on her talk about them being free to vote for her they knew the group had to actually come to an agreement on who to vote out and not just blindly vote.

"I don't know for sure who the murderer is but we can definitely rule out two people like I said last time. Alessio and Giovanni. I don't have any specific evidence against anybody else and am okay with voting for people if there's enough of a reason." They said, hoping that they didn't say anything to make themselves more suspicious.

With another round that led to no eliminations, it was more than safe to say that Meiyu was beginning to become irritated. Though the lack of her participation had not helped, mostly due to the group being familiar with each other prior to the event, the lack of correct guesses and attempts from the murderer who seemed to forget what their role was. A sudden prompt from a ginger on who to be voted out piqued Meiyu's interest. Her eyes immediately darting to her, noting her the shift in her demeanour, clearly irritated by the lack of events also. Though the suggestion of voting Avis, with her role as Carlo, out was something she did not agree with, the raven was clearly bored, the lioness furrowing her brows in frustration as she strode off to a wall and toying with her hair.

"Maybe if you did you job and questioned others, this would get further than it is." She spewed, her tone sharper than she had intended, almost glaring at the ginger detective. It appeared as though, despite being upperclassmen, the older students had no idea what was truly going on. It was a mere game of dominance, pre-existing connections mattered more than going into this blindly and participating with each other, questioning those who were suspicious. Yet, barely anyone had questioned her, besides one, on the lack of Meiyu's participation. Had she been the detective, perhaps the it would not be this dull and a waste of time. Her earlier irritation of the events at the gala resurfacing, speculating on why she had signed up in the beginning.

Her attention now turning to the other detective, the one who actually did their job. "I did not lie to you." She began, her eyes now fixated on the short haired detective, Alessio. "Besides, since you want to bring up honesty, why don't you be honest about what you did with that container of milk that I saw you steal from my store." She titled her head slightly, noting her behaviour, awaiting for a reaction to the information she had suddenly shared. Meiyu recalled the ID card she had received on her role as Maria, who surely had a grudge, but that was normal, surely at one point everyone has a grudge against another, why should she be penalised for Maria doing so? "Not to mention, if I was the killer, most of you would be dead by now, even Alessio wouldn't be safe." Meiyu began once more, walking closer to the other participants who appeared huddled together, almost circling around them, her eyes diverting from each participant.

"Do you really think a mere store owner is capable of doing that? My store means everything to me, I simply would not risk having 'murderer' on my file." She continued, coming to a halt with her movements. "It's bad for business, clearly you wouldn't know that." Meiyu scoffed, not regretting the shift in her behaviour for any second, yet hopeful that it would progress the evening quicker. After all, she had a gala to get back to.

And still, there were no deaths. The gun shot had missed, and the majority clearly didn’t have a joint clue. He could sense that irritation and confusion started to spread among some people, bored with the fact that the game was still exactly the same as what it was when it had just begun.

He could somehow understand it, probably, for Maxi knew that his part wouldn’t have been as interesting as it was when he realised that the one who played Vito and had a in-game grudge against him wasn’t going to show up. But observing the connections between other players were also worth it, so yeah, he thought he could still stick to the game for a littler longer. Carlo went straightforwardly, suggesting that they should vote somebody - or rather, anybody - out, even presenting herself as a possible candidate, claiming that she wouldn’t care. Maxi raised a brow. Was that a mere statement out of boredom, or did it have other meanings? Some in-character strategy, maybe? Rose who played Luca followed, saying that they could just as well vote Carlo out if that was what the latter wanted, and backed the point of they should really work something out. Maxi nodded quietly. They definitely had to get the conversation flowing, rather than feeling distressed and voting blindly.

The other two suspects that Carlo proposed to vote apart from herself - Sophia re-emphasised that Alessio and Giovanni seemed harmless, while everybody else might be suspicious; and Maria was being rather sharp. Maxi sighed when she glared at Rose, but his attention was soon drawn by what the younger girl shared some intriguing information. Alessio. Stealing milk.

Oh. That’s - Maxi lowered his eyes, recollecting some other line that came on his profile, which probably existed on others’ as well. As Maria went on rambling about why she wouldn’t be the killer, he patiently waited for her to come to a halt. “Everyone might be two-faced. You can’t guarantee that.” He suggested, vaguely alluding to the idea he had just gotten. Maybe that’s where they could have a breakthrough? He turned to Maria. “Please don’t take it personally - as what you’ve claimed, Alessio, upright and observant as a detective, had dishonourably committed theft. So I’m being bold to speculate that there’s something going on beneath the surface. There might be some stuff that’s not visible on the file.” Well, he wasn’t sure what the others’ reactions would be after saying these. Maybe he’d seem suspicious himself, but getting engaged in the game did feel good.

Another round, another loop. Noah decided he would walk up to each present person in the group and ask them if they each want a mocktail. Sure, it was not real, nor cocktail, but still a drink nevertheless if not spicy at that. He looked at some of them through the pouring rain and could not help but feel slightly pitiful, only to crack a wicked smile, a Jim Carey grinch smile.

It was time to begin, and Noah was prepared. This time, he wasn't going to use his arms, but instead his shoes. He sat down on the ground to undo his shoelaces and slide the now-untied shoes off of his feet and he stood up to face each of them, his foot visible. He held onto the eyelet of the shoe and slammed the soles onto the walls as hard as he could, a louder bang, a louder slap. "LIGHTS OFF!" He proclaimed, again announcing the lights being turned off for the reason they would all come to know at this point. It was time for the murder.

A minute passed and the lights turned on.

It made his heart happy to hear the molded orange plastic hit their target, whoever the Murderer was aiming at. He looked at where the bullet fell and followed it up to the nearest person, seeing where it hit them. Now, he was not sure, but he figured he'd at least trust them. He'd get to do a doctor phase again.

Again, he used his shoes and slammed them onto the walls to signify yet another lights out. He gave the doctor 30 seconds to go over, and Noah kept close attention. An additional 30 seconds was added as Noah quickly rushed over to say to the victim that they needed to act like their limb got amputated. He ran back over to the wall to signify that the lights were coming back on.

The Jim Carrey smile struck his face again as he stared back. "None of you have been voted out. Congratulations, there is still a killer hiding amongst us, find them and eliminate them."

This wasn't going anywhere, and Mylo noticed that people were getting annoyed. Some more than others but it didn't seem good either way. And once again nobody had been voted out because people couldn't come to a consensus about who was the most likely to be the killer.

A killer who had gone for the same victim again, Giovanni, which Mylo thought was slightly suspicious as in their mind it meant that the killer very likely had a grudge against him. Why else would you target the same person twice?

As they once again heard Alessio mention possibly wanting to vote out Carlo Mylo thought back on something that had previously been said.

"I will vote for Carlo as well, not because she seems to want to leave and not because she basically volunteered. But like Alessio said, she was weirdly happy when Giovanni had been shot the first time, and why would the murderer go for the same person twice if they didn't have some kind of grudge against them." They said, facing the group hoping that this wouldn't place a target on his back for the rest of the game.

"But if someone else can come up with a compelling argument for someone else please do." He added, wondering if someone else would maybe be a better choice.

Sophia agreed with her, thankfully, although this Maria girl's voice was stinging. Rose didn't really respond to the glare that was shot towards her, but her eyes twitched, as she fought not to narrow them back at the girl. Maria could be as petty as she wanted, but Rose was trying to help, genuinely. She was trying to actually get stuff done, and get this mystery moving, even though Luca's job as a lawyer didn't help much, contrary to what Maria seemed to be implying.

Then, Maria accused Alessio of stealing milk from her store. Rose raised one eyebrow in her friend's direction, watching their reaction. Alessio quickly denied it, implying that Maria was making herself look more suspicious. Admittedly, neither of them seemed to be perfectly in the right, and if both of them denied the actions they were accused of, then their rivalry seemed to be only escalating.

Maxi, or Tony, rather, addressed it, making Alessio a little frustrated by suggesting that he believed Maria. He had a point, though- everyone seemed to have a motive. "That's true," Rose agreed with Tony. "We don't know who's lying." But this statement was obviously more directed towards Maria than Alessio, who Rose had already made it clear that she trusted, by asking their opinion a moment ago. It was good design on the ball planners' parts- everyone could be the killer, except for Alessio and Giovanni, as Sophia had pointed out. Even Rose herself wasn't cleared of suspicion, and had no way to really, truly prove that she wasn't the killer. She could make as much of a defense as she wanted, and it could all be a lie, just like the one she could almost smell in the room.

They couldn't both be lying, could they?

The lights went out and came back on again, and when they did, Giovanni now had neither arm. Rose couldn't help but glance to Carlo, who had not been voted out, as she had suggested. Coincidence? Her gaze flicked away as soon as it found them, however, and she fixed her gloves.

Alessio agreed with her earlier statement, and Rose nodded at her friend.
