XXXMaisieVito seemed a bit suspicious of Eonaria, but turned back to YolandaMaria to inquire about her odd statement before the most recent blackout. YolandaMaria merely deflected the question, gesturing towards Eonaria and turning the question back on MaisieVito, appearing to regret a few of her decisions.

XXXIn her opinion, this was a strange response and it didn't even answer the question. MamoriSofia seemed to share the same thoughts, calling YolandaMaria out on her bluff with a bit of sass. He also appeared extremely suspicious of her. Eonaria blinked, wondering what she had done wrong this time. Was my comment too relaxed? Should I have done something more theatrical? but I feel that would be even stranger...

XXXShe had believed that as a doctor, she could stay calm in the face of danger. After all, if you're freaking out while you tend to a bloody wound or perform surgery or whatever, that's not a very good look on your medical license. MamoriSofia sauntered towards her, remarking on her strangely calm demeanor and how she didn't react when he was talking about Giovanni's attitude towards Sofia's pies. Eonaria gulped nervously. To be honest, she had forgotten she was playing Giovanni earlier.

XXX"Well, why should I concern myself with your pies? It's not like I'll be eating any more of them. Excess sugar causes health issues." She narrowed her eyes. Was it possible that Sofia had a grudge against Giovanni? Could Mamori possibly be the killer, and picked her out? No, that couldn't be right... she was shot at before she revealed who she was. But why would the killer pick the unnamed person in the room?

His question to Yo-/Maria seemed to go ignored, and he was just standing there talking to the air by himself like a chump. He was just wondering what type of shop the shopkeeper kept! -- since she seemed so into her role, anyhow, and he was curious how she would react when he accused her of potentially harboring a murder weapon in her store. But he supposed he would never find out.

As Mamori/Sofia apologized, he was surprised that the guy was so sensible. Avery shook his head, waving it off since he hadn't really taken the guy's defensiveness too personally. "A game is a game; there's bound to be some accusations thrown left and right! I agree, we should probably get down to evaluating suspects rather than standing around, getting nowhere closer." Our boy scratched his head. He didn't really know what other insight to share with the group, though. Maybe something would come to him like a strike of lightning?

He cocked his head as Yo-/Maria asked a question about whether anyone was connected to Carlo or Tony. "Yeah!" he exclaimed, raising a hand. "Luca- I know Tony! He botched my car when I asked him to help me fix it when I was out of town. Thought I could trust a pal, but should've known better!" And now he was dead? Avery flinched at the words that came instinctively out of his mouth, because wouldn't they just suspect him for offing the guy as 'revenge'? His eyes widened at the thought. "Not enough for me to, like, want to kill him, though. That's a bit over the top..."

Once again, the lights went out, and the doctor was almost shot, the police said. The game was moving pretty quickly, huh?

He nodded as Maisie/Vito invited them to work on leads, and watched the exchange between Vito and Maria, which didn't seem to go very far as Vito's question was answered by a bit of deflection. "Honestly, I think it's best if we just talk plainly with each other, because anything else just looks a bit suspicious?"

"Do you guys have anything you'd like to ask me?" he asked, because they hadn't really been paying attention to him and he naturally craved a bit of attention, he supposed? "Also, how do you think the killer's picking their targets? Is it the people they don't know? It's as if they're trying to avoid killing certain people in the town that they do know, because we haven't really found out people's names until they've been dead. Or something." So much for trying to sound insightful. Maybe there wasn't any pattern, and it was just a randomly rampant killer? He didn't really know, but felt he could pick at some brains to see if it got anywhere.

"Maybe we can talk a bit more about the people we know we have grudges or other relationships with," he suggested. "For example, we know that Sofia was upset Giovanni didn't like how sweet her baked goods were, but what else do we know about the rest of you guys' relationships? If people could share."

In the heart of the storm-battered city, residents are on edge following a narrowly averted tragedy. Last night, during the tenth consecutive hour of the power outage, a chilling attempt on the life of local shopkeeper, Maria Romano was thwarted under the cloak of darkness. Known for her vibrant personality and charity work, Maria Romano was the latest among the targets of the recently in light infamous serial killer, whose reign of terror has cast a pall over the community during this relentless period of inclement weather. Despite the persistent rains and the inky veil of the blackout, our sharp-eyed survivor Maria, managed to evade the murderer's clutches, escaping with minor injuries that were an outcome of her escape attempt. The near-fatal incident has yet again prompted a citywide call for further vigilance and a renewed demand for the swift apprehension of the elusive criminal mastermind psycho. Authorities continue to remain tight-lipped on any new leads. However they continue to assure citizens that the investigation is their top priority as the hunt for the elusive killer intensifies amidst the tumultuous weather conditions. We can only hope the law enforcement is able to accomplish what they are meant to; before all hell breaks loose.

Notice
Every mod post, you will notice that the light goes out every time there is a murder. The light stays out for 1 minute to allow the murderer to conceal the weapon in some way and to avoid suspicion. When the light goes out, you'll hear a bang from the nerf gun and if you feel yourself getting shot with a foam bullet, you have been killed. You may lay down on the ground and play dead. You may find a funny pose to be in, whatever. When the light goes back on, a vote will be held to accuse someone of the murder.

I've been accused of a murder! What do I do?
Well dearie, you would've been considered "executed" if the majority votes you as murderer. This means that you are out. The game is over when all of the players are dead except for the detective and murderer, or when the murderer has been accused and executed.

How do I vote?
Every round, you need to send me an owl of who you're voting or accusing. Additionally you MUST post otherwise your vote will be seen as invalid.

I did not post for a round or more, what happens? (if you don't send me your vote but post, it's okay, don't worry about it.)
The murderer will likely kill you the next round.

I'm the murderer! What happens now?
Post each round. Send me your target via owl. In Character, when the lights go out, you can pull out your nerf gun and shoot your target. You will have the rest of the minute to hide the gun or conceal it.

I'm the detective! What happens now?
Post each round. Send me your accused victim via owl. You cannot be killed.

I'm a doctor! What happens now?
Post each round. Send me your accused victim via owl. There will be a second blackout in the mod post in where you will have a CHANCE of healing the shot victim.

I was a shot victim! I was healed!
Good for you, you may continue in the game. However, one of your limbs have been ic AMPUTATED so in roleplay, you would not have that limb because the doctor amputated the shot limb.

What if I have to leave Out of Character and I'm the Murderer or a Doctor or a Detective?
That's fine, just please notify us at some point. We will owl another person and give them an additional "title" for their character that they are already playing. For example: Baker is now Murderer but still the same character, you don't gain another. When it comes to a detective and a doctor, unfortunately, we won't pass it on. The game continues until its over.

Please note: We are taking actions via owl so that actions and votes are anonymous to keep the mystery. What you choose to say or do in your post whether ooc or ic can be used against you so do your best to keep your "secret" role anonymous. If you are a detective or a murderer it can be used against you if you say it out loud. We suggest coming up with an undercover job to conceal the fact. Not required, you could be vague, but what you say and do whether oc or ic can be used against you.

People were getting picked off one by one. And even though their doctor had managed to escape, he still succumbed and that was very, very bad. The doctor was likely the only one who could have prevented this from continuing. Maisie swallowed.

“And, what makes you so certain you won’t be?” Yolanda/Maria had asked.

"I never said I was certain," she corrected with a level-headed tone, "Anyone could go. That's the point. So, why are you so paranoid?" It was a simple rephrase, but a necessary one as they girl seemed contented to just dodge questions. And dodging questions likely wasn't going to get the group anywhere.

That was something Mamori/Sofia understood. Maisie gave him a gentle nod as he backed her up. In that moment, despite the attire of the evening, she recognized him. He'd been the opposing keeper at the unofficial Quidditch match. And that moved him just a touch from a complete unknown to someone more reliable. He also had the added benefit of also seeming very astute, a quality she admired.

Avery/Luca on the other hand came into focus too; he'd replaced Delaney that day. Was this all just turning into a little Quidditch reunion? Perhaps and she was surprised she had not seen it before. Not that it remotely helped the current situation.

Still, the fourth year too seemed to be acting logically and asking real questions. Perhaps the most potent was: "How do you think the killer's picking their targets?" And as much as she heard his echo to share relationships (during which people could easily lie), Maisie focused more in on the question of strategy. "It's the quiet people," she asserted, "Those who kind of clung together in small groups and didn't really address anyone else. The trouble is, I think there are too many quiet people left."

She bit her lip, trying to piece it all together. "Maybe they thought the quiet people didn't have relationships with the group so no one would miss them. So, if you don't really know people, don't know the murderer, you're at higher risk." And all of a sudden, she felt her breathing quicken at the realization that she really only knew three people—the fellow Quidditch players—and of them, only Lucian did she feel like she could truly trust. That was without even knowing his name 10 minutes ago. Her brown eyes looked up at him with a flicker of worry.

Perhaps Yolanda's absurd question was prophetic: maybe, based on her calculations of the situation, she was next?

Another round, another loop. Prat decided he would walk up to each present person in the group and ask them if they each want a mocktail. Sure, it was not real, nor cocktail, but still a drink nevertheless if not spicy at that. He looked at some of them through the pouring rain and could not help but feel slightly pitiful, only to crack a wicked smile, a Jim Carey grinch smile.

It was time to begin, and Prat was prepared. This time, he wasn't going to use his arms, but instead his shoes. He sat down on the ground to undo his shoelaces and slide the now-untied shoes off of his feet and he stood up to face each of them, his foot visible. He held onto the eyelet of the shoe and slammed the soles onto the walls as hard as he could, a louder bang, a louder slap. "LIGHTS OFF!" He proclaimed, again announcing the lights being turned off for the reason they would all come to know at this point. It was time for the murder.

A minute passed and the lights turned on.

The Jim Carrey smile struck his face again as he stared back. "None of you have been voted out. Congratulations, there is still a killer hiding amongst us, find them and eliminate them."

OC: I know this isn’t the style you’re used to. Next week, Prat should be back in function.

"Sure, thank you," she told Prat as he came around and offered everyone a new mocktail. Even though, in character she was supposed to have made them, she reckoned that he'd probably have done a better job than she ever would. It was already so much work organizing something like this event. With a nod of acknowledgement, she had to give him credit for that, even if at the moment his smile seemed a little too wide for his face. It was slightly unnerving.

He commanded the lights off, and just as before there was an unsettling darkness. Maisie swallowed.

But she blinked, still stood in place. And like before, it was over. But unlike before, no one was dead and no one was voted out. Instead, it was quiet.

Too quiet.

Maisie gripped her mocktail firmly in her hand, holding it closer to her chest like a really useless shield. Looking around at the group that remained, she tried to think. This was like a riddle, wasn't it? She solved those every day to get into the common room; she could do this.

Stepping gently on her heel, she tried to break the silence, "So, if you happen to be the murderer, maybe now would be a really great time to confess." This was both genuine—this was going on for sometime without progress—and calculated. She'd watch the faces for a flicker of discomfort at the idea.

After a moment, she added, "Unless anyone has more questions?"

| And because the universe had an absolutely delightful sense of timing, the lights went out just as Mamori opened his mouth to respond to Giovanni. When they flickered back on, Giovanni was announced as the latest victim. Brilliant. Just brilliant. If there was an award for 'Worst Possible Timing in a Murder Mystery,' he'd just won it with flying colors. Past-Mamori deserved a slow clap for that stellar performance — nothing says 'totally not suspicious' quite like having your conversation partner drop dead mid-interrogation.

Meanwhile, everyone had apparently collectively decided again that complete silence was the best strategy for survival. Everyone, that is, except Vito, who actually had something useful to contribute about the killer's targeting strategy. It was an interesting point, Mamori had to admit — going after those who'd grown quieter as the game progressed. Though that did raise the question: if silence was truly the killer's criteria, why target the doctor who'd only recently gone quiet, when a certain tall Hufflepuff had been maintaining his vow of silence for far longer?

Before he could pursue that particular line of thought further, another blackout descended. When the lights returned, Vito broke through the heavy silence with a surprisingly direct suggestion that perhaps the murderer might want to confess now.

Mamori had to admire the sheer audacity of that approach. Oh yes, surely the murderer would just leap at the chance to confess because someone asked so nicely. Unless our enthusiastic killer had suddenly decided to call it quits and spend the rest of their days miserably rotting in a Muggle prison — enduring filthy surroundings, trash meals, and a daily routine devoid of any freedom. Yeah, not likely.

The absurdity of this evening was reaching new heights, but at least it gave Mamori an idea. Since they were already deep into wild theories about the killer's taste in victims, might as there was one particularly interesting specimen to consider. Mamori cleared his throat: "While I'm absolutely fascinated by the previous night's surprising lack of casualties, if we're running with Vito's theory about the killer targeting the quiet ones..." His eyes locked onto the tall Hufflepuff who had been doing a remarkable impression of a particularly silent statue. "We seem to have ourselves quite the anomaly, don't we? Someone who's kept to themselves, saying little and staying out of the spotlight, yet managed to make it through a night when our killer decided to take a break. If quiet people with no strong ties are the killer’s ideal targets, then isn’t it odd that our tall friend here, who barely interacts with anyone except Vito, is still standing?" He rubbed his chin thoughtfully, a sly glint in his eye. "Makes you wonder if he’s not just avoiding the list but writing it."

The rain Prat and Noah had decided to employ for the game did not seem to be letting up at all, for scenario however.

Continuous Rains continue showering the city with cold winds and further darkness as the unidentified killer strikes again. Enveloped in the shroud of darkness, our elusive killer attempted to scratch another name off his list as he caught the locat Bartender, Vito Rossi during these dangerous time. The shot was so well aimed it passed straight through the victim's leg, giving them no chance to even make an escape. As the blood pool started to increase and flow out, someone among the neighbors chanced upon the scene as they found the lifeless corpse.

Question on everyone's mind remains as to who is the elusive killer that has managed to thin down our town's population while keeping their own identity a secret. Further comments from locals only seem to question the work of our police department and their very sloppy act at handling the situation. Recent trends include the populace going into vigilantism as they judge residents under the guise of doubts and begin trials with no evidence, even going as far to executing them under their own attempts at justice. One might fear whether this vigilantism might only be a pipe dream realisation to those wishing for Anarchy.

| The killer, in their infinite wisdom, had just eliminated literally the only person who was still willing to engage in any meaningful conversation about this mess. And with their usual impeccable aim too — from what he could remember, they'd hit their target in almost every round... or was it every round except one? Seriously, was this some kind of professional marksman moonlighting as a murder mystery enthusiast?

Mamori glanced around at the remaining three survivors, letting out a long-suffering sigh. At this point, he was convinced the killer was keeping him alive purely for the entertainment value of watching him run himself ragged with this ridiculous game of throwing accusations at anyone with a pulse, desperately hoping something would stick to the wall. He could just picture them somewhere in this room right now, mentally munching on imaginary popcorn while thoroughly enjoying the show.

Not that he didn't want to win — his competitive spirit was still alive and kicking somewhere in there — but he had to be realistic. What was even the point anymore? The stubborn silence that had fallen over the room during the last few blackouts wasn't exactly helping. And really, how was he supposed to pick between a statue-impersonating Hufflepuff, a mechanic who'd gone suspiciously quiet after his earlier chattiness and convenient grudges, and an overdramatic shopkeeper who seemed allergic to giving straight answers to any question?

If he had to rely on his intuition (which was a terrible idea, really), he'd say either Luca or Maria was behind this, leaning towards Luca if forced to choose. But did he have even a shred of confidence in his ability to convince the others to vote for Luca? Absolutely none. Zero. Zilch. Even his rational mind was giving his intuition the side-eye at this point. After all, his gut feelings had betrayed him more times than he could count in his brief eleven years of existence.

And what was he supposed to do? Suddenly transform into some sort of dictator and declare "Follow me, peasants, let's vote out Luca!" ? This wasn't exactly the kind of game where you could play tyrant — it was all about democracy and majority rule. He seriously suspected that playing the role of an overly confident emperor would probably end with him metaphorically getting his head chopped off in the next round. Was that what happened in the French Revolution? Or was it some other historical thing where the leader got their head chopped off? History wasn't exactly his best subject.

Wait a minute, he thought, a slightly hysterical laugh threatening to bubble up. Could he technically still win if he just teamed up with the killer at this point?

...Nah, forget it. It was just a game after all.

With an even longer, more dramatic sigh than his previous ones — as if trying to exhale all his remaining brain cells along with it to finally end his futile brainstorming — Mamori gave voice to his internal surrender. "Hey, mysterious killer, just shoot me next round, will you? Because I've officially lost the will to keep playing Sofia 'I'm definitely not a frustrated eleven-year-old boy' Manici, and I'm pretty sure we're near the end anyway." He started counting on his fingers, mumbling numbers under his breath. "Actually, wait — are we even going to have another round of murder? Either way... congratulations, killer, you win. Hope you enjoyed the show." His face twisted into what he hoped was an appropriately tragic expression, though he suspected it came out more like he'd just been forced to eat an entire box of Bertie Bott's earwax-flavored beans.

With the previous murders and blows, This game could have not gone more south as Prat predicted. What initially started off as a peaceful game, as peaceful as a murder mystery could be. It soon turned into a blood bath all around with their respective detectives scrambling to find the killer. Some came very close, some were as far away as possible. Prat certainly enjoyed his time hosting the game as well as the chatter and food that came with it. Deciding to stop this magical downpour upon them, Prat waved his wand over as he chanted the incantation for Meteolojinx Recanto. This promptly stopped the rain, followed by a hot air charm "Aer Calidus" to remove any wet spots from anyone's clothing.

Turning on the lights Prat decided to unveil how the game went for everyone and show who the killer was for the group. He expected quite some shocked faces. It wasn't surprising how so many of these kids had managed to spin a web of lies around their made up personalities. Almost frightening how easily they managed to fool those around themselves. "Thank you for Participating everyone, remember to stay safe out there and now you all know how good your friends are at lying." He said as he showed the door to all involved.

KILLER WINS
