NAME saunders napier
STATUS pureblood
RACE human
NATIONALITY english-danish
BIRTHDAY august 23, 2013
ZODIAC SIGN virgo
WAND 29,1 cm cherry wood and unicorn hair

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Saunders has brown-blond hair and blue, almost navy blue eyes. His family's Scandinavian heritage have contributed greatly to these most noticeable aspects of his facial appearance. He is a little shorter than his peers (1.48), and -maybe, just maybe- a bit more chubby. He hopes his cheeks will be less noticeable when he grows up.

PERSONALITY
Saunders is a friendly child, in every sense of the word. He loves meeting new people. However, due to his mother's way of raising him, who believes that her son is so very important, and probably because of some other social factors, he is generally considered a bit "bossy" by his peers since he has a clear tendency to radically revise the rules of the traditional games according to his liking or to make everyone play new games he makes up in a half-gently manner. He is, unusual for a 11-year-old, pretty interested in the pleasant side of life - a delicious meal, a nice walk, and even, or particularly fancy clothes. The only thing he dares to really defy his parents, actually, is the coats they force him to wear in winter, which are clearly not to his taste.

BIOGRAPHY
Saunders was born in London on August 23, 2013, when the skies were revolving around Virgo. He was a member of an ancient wizarding family, the Napiers, that dates back to the early centuries. Throughout its long and tortuous history, this family had intermarried with people from all over continental Europe, from France to Scandinavia, in order to maintain its so-called "pure" blood. Saunders' father, Elijah, is a spend-all who can hardly be claimed to have done any job whatsoever. He, however, luckily considers it his profession to entrust his fortune to advisors to be invested in Gringotts funds. Saunders is something of an accident in Elijah's life, and it cannot be said that he pays much attention to his child. When Saunders was younger, he referred to his father as "the moony guy in the house". His mother, Freja, on the other hand, is a Danish woman who took "too much" interest in Saunders. The boy had to learn endless manners from his mother. Also, Saunders was raised bilingual, again entirely at his mother's insistence. His mind occasionally wanders to Danish words. Saunders spent most of his pre-Hogwarts life in London, but his summers were spent either at his mother's family home in Egtved (Denmark) or at their vacation home in Saint-Gaudens (France). Experiencing different environments and distant cultures is one of the aspects that develops Saunders's observation skills and nourishes his meticulousness when it comes to nuances.

FIRST INSTANCE OF MAGIC
Saunders’ first instance of magic occurred when he was seven years old. One evening, while the family was sitting at home, the boy was telling a fantastical story that he had just made up. His mother, Freja, had an expression of impatience on her face as she listened to the story, ready to test the strength of her child’s imagination. His father, Elijah, on the other hand, was, as usual, extremely absent-minded, occasionally looking up from the book he was reading and muttering some incoherent words. Saunders, who was extremely irritated by this and craving for his father’s attention, frowned and felt a strange sensation inside him. A few seconds later, the book in Elijah’s hands flew into the air, hit the ceiling, and fell to the floor. His parents laughed and Saunders too, feeling happy that he could now continue telling his story.

ELIJAH NAPIER▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
father The absent-minded member of the Napier family, known for its long history of wizarding lineage and staunch pureblood traditions. Elijah, as a man of leisure, has never held a formal job. Despite being rather charming in social gatherings, he's known for his aloof demeanour and indifference towards family matters. He spends a great deal of time in whimsical pursuits and trivialities.

Extracts from
the Genealogy of the Napier Family

Preface
"It stands as an undeniable truth, more apparent today than ever before, that the engine of progress in the Wizarding World is fundamentally driven by pure-blood families. These families, whose legacy illustrates magic not merely as a skill but also as a hereditary treasure, have managed to preserve their prominence and significance throughout the centuries, despite certain ill-intentioned movements and philosophies. For this reason, I considered it an essential duty to undertake a comprehensive examination of the genealogy of the Napier family, one of Britain’s most renowned wizarding lineages." (pp. 3-4)

On the Early Origins of the Family
"Sailing into that delicate boundary where history and legend closely intertwine, we find that the historical founder or the primordial forebear of the Napier family is Guytounet Napier. Records indicate that Guytounet emigrated from the city of Arcachon in France to Britain in the mid-12th century, where King Edward I granted him the fief of Shabbear. Here, Guytounet Napier reigned as a feudal lord for many years. Some legends, and also several studies into the etymology of their surname suggest that before their British saga began, the family served as custodians of the silk vaults of the French court." (p. 54)

Guytounet in Britain - Sigmund Duignan (1874)

Until 1692
"By the year 1692, the Napier family had entered into marriages with numerous pure-blood wizarding families across Europe, thereby solidifying their influence both over regional territories and within royal courts. These alliances enabled them to invest in the early exploration campaigns organised in Hispanic Europe, thus amassing significant wealth. By financing many seafarers, the Napiers expanded their agricultural estates with the spoils of these ventures and effectively became the unofficial rulers of Devon and its neighbouring regions.

However, during the reign of James VI and I, their political and economic decline began, fuelled by accusations of their excessive power and their wizarding heritage. From the 1620s onward, several of their lands were expropriated by royal decree, and they were deliberately excluded from court. Seeking to recover their losses, the family turned to new markets, establishing themselves as the leading dynasty in the export of Egyptian grain to Europe, a prosperous trade that their fleet maintained until 1690s." (pp. 111-13)

The Terrible Year: 1692
"In 1692, systemic persecution of wizards and witches by Muggles led to a decision to separate the two worlds definitively, known as the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy. As a direct consequence, wizards across Britain began migrating to exclusively magical settlements, abandoning their Muggle-dominated homelands. Initially resistant to this change, the family patriarch Graeme Napier eventually conceded after his heir, Walter Napier, was kidnapped and crucified by a group of blood-thirsty Muggles. Realising there was no future for them in Shebbear, Graeme swiftly liquidated their ancient fleet and other commercial ventures, gathered his family and wealth, and relocated to London." (p. 149)

Farewell - Sigmund Duignan (1877)

Prominent Napiers of the 19th Century
"Aeolus Napier – The current patriarch of the family, born in 1846. The forests he owns provide a significant portion of the wood used by Ollivanders.

Oscar Napier – A third cousin of the main branch of the family, currently an Arithmancy Professor and Deputy Headmaster at Hogwarts. Among his published works is the bestseller “Arithmancy for Everyone.”

Abigail Napier – Disowned from the official genealogy by Aeolus Napier for marrying a squib, she has nevertheless gained renown as an influential magical theorist in London. Together with her spouse, she co-chairs the Society for the Prevention of Atrocities Against Squibs, a highly controversial organisation in the Wizarding World.

The Hon. Mr. Judge Napier – Aeolus Napier’s younger brother. First name Lavender, he is the Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot. Lavender specialised in the History of Magic and served as a diplomat for the Ministry of Magic for many years, including a 22-year tenure as ambassador to the Portuguese Ministry. For the past nine years, he has held his current esteemed position as a respected statesman." (pp. 182-3)
