By financing many seafarers, the Napiers expanded their agricultural estates with the spoils of these ventures and effectively became the unofficial rulers of Devon and its neighbouring regions. However, during the reign of James VI and I, their political and economic decline began, fuelled by accusations of their excessive power and their wizarding heritage. From the 1620s onward, several of their lands were expropriated by royal decree, and they were deliberately excluded from court. Seeking to recover their losses, the family turned to new markets, establishing themselves as the leading dynasty in the export of Egyptian grain to Europe, a prosperous trade that their fleet maintained until 1690s." The forests he owns provide a significant portion of the wood used by Ollivanders. Oscar Napier – A third cousin of the main branch of the family, currently an Arithmancy Professor and Deputy Headmaster at Hogwarts. Among his published works is the bestseller “Arithmancy for Everyone.” Abigail Napier – Disowned from the official genealogy by Aeolus Napier for marrying a squib, she has nevertheless gained renown as an influential magical theorist in London. Together with her spouse, she co-chairs the Society for the Prevention of Atrocities Against Squibs, a highly controversial organisation in the Wizarding World. The Hon. Mr. Judge Napier – Aeolus Napier’s younger brother. First name Lavender, he is the Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot. Lavender specialised in the History of Magic and served as a diplomat for the Ministry of Magic for many years, including a 22-year tenure as ambassador to the Portuguese Ministry.
