Prat was disappointed how his spell had missed once again now. Twice in a row was a shameful sight for him. Was it luck that was not on his side or was it merely a "stuff happens, get on with it" kind of problem. This was further made worse by his teammates missing their spells too as the game continued further. Kia who they decided to oust in the beginning was still playing and that was not a good look on him or his team anymore. Two of these guys were duellist for hell's sake.

That added with Noah's several reminders and taunts at both teams for missing their marks did not help. The situation however was not yet dire. If Prat did not hit anyone this round he was also sure no one managed to or perhaps decided not to hit the duelist. Was he being looked down on ? That mere thought was revolting. No one could do that unless they were blind, and it still wouldn't happen.

"Enough Chitchat" he thought in his mind as he adjusted his grip on his wand, ready for another round with all the intent to finish this game as soon as he could.

This time, Elisa chose a spell that did not cause any physical harm to the target (if you don't count softening up a little), but instead that would limit their spell casting capacities. She drew her wand, and focused hard on the incantation and wand movement. Her spell was successfully cast, but, to her disappointment, missed its target.

She looked around. After a moment's observation, she noticed that this round, all spells went astray- except Kiana's, which was a surprise, seeing what state she currently was in. Elisa bit her tongue. If she wanted to win this duel, she'd have to concentrate in not only casting her spells correctly, but also aiming at her target.

The second year Slytherin took a moment to analyse the situation. On their side, Alyss and herself were perfectly fine- either none of the spells cast hit them successfully, or the other team chose to launch full force at Kiana before turning to the other two girls... Looking at her opponents, they were all suffering from some kind of damage, but their state was nowhere comparable to Kiana's- they were all still up and standing, ready to attack again... Speaking of which, Elisa'd better return to the duel and concentrate on the following round. Who knows what the others have up their sleeves?

He was lucky, that was the only way to explain how he wasn’t laying flat on his ass at the moment. He hadn’t even attempted to cast a spell, being so distracted in his head trying to think of one the round come to and he didn’t even lift his wand. Ernest was lucky to even have the time to breathe, standing there like a target for the shooting.

He rolled his shoulders, knowing that now, even if he didn’t send out the best spell, he would not get another chance to just stand there and be safe. He glanced over at Prat, feeling relieved to see he wasn’t hit with a spell either. “I-, Got distracted,” He mumbled to the other, even though Prat probably didn’t even notice him just standing around, the other actually focusing on the people shooting spells at them.

He was hoping he could take out someone soon, and make the fight less trouble for his distracting mind. “Come on, let’s get this over with,” He mumbled to himself. An attack spell? Maybe just send something to get them to weaken? He even toyed with the idea of using his favorite spell, maybe setting them on fire for a change.

As it turns out being on the recieving end of three wands pointed at you in unison is a great intimidation tactic and one that Matthew had not expected in the slightest. As the girls all turned on him he couldn't help but feel bad for whoever would face them in the real tournaments. But for now he simply felt bad for himself. Despite dodging two the third landed squarely in his chest and knocked him back.

Unfortunately, the intimidation had also done nothing for his casting and the spell flashed past Kia who would now have the opportunity to strike his team once again. There was a severe weighted feeling of disappointment that he hoped was only from himself and not his team mates. The fact that they too had failed did something to keep him composed but worry had set in and unless he shook it the game was not to be in their favour.

Then there was the equally severe emotion of irritation towards their referee who he considered for a moment could do with being hit by a spell as much as the other team. Perhaps he could call it an accident if an incendio shot from his wand and hit the third year. However, Matthew had already hurt their teams chances enough and knew his focus must remain in the game. There would be plenty of times in the future to show Noah some target practice.

FINALLY! He could feel his chest release all of the pent up tension from the worry of getting maimed or thrown or even sliced or burnt. Why this good news? Well, it was rather simple. Noah monitored another round of casting from this puny league of miscreants. "Hey buddies," Noah would say in a softer voice, softer than his paranoid voice, as he finally saw not ONE but TWO people get hit.

"Don't harm anyone. I do not want to be responsible for the death of a first year. Now, a second year I could probably see, I did just go into the lake with one, I'm just impressed he made it out." Oh he was just rambling. Prat hit Alyss with Flipendo, and she could barely dodge. Alyss attempted to cast Incendio at Matthew but oh golly, how she failed. Matthew was a really proficient dodger it would seem. Well, and it was so off of the target, so Noah imagined it being easy for Matthew.

The other three? Well, Elisa would end up pegging a shot on Matthew. He definitely got hit with flipendo. Matthew attempted to cast Flipendo towards Kia but oh gosh, he failed. Sadly. She dodged! Ernest on the other hand? Well, the poor widdle dwarf-of-a-kid did not even manage to procure the casting of the spell. Mega sad.

Holding a galleon in memory of him. Noah should do that later that night. Though he hadn't decided between the galleon currency or a gallon of milk or water. He'll decide later.

Once again, Elisa drew her wand from her side, and, with a swift straight movement and a swish, she pointed it in front of her, at Matthew. The spell flew out of the tip of the chestnut wood wand, a pretty good cast. Watching it hit its target, Elisa couldn't help but grin a little - that was, after all, the first time she actually managed to hit. The young Slytherin had little, almost no problem with successful spell casting, but her aim was something she would have to work on - how many spells went astray and dissipated into the air!

Unfortunately, her Elisa's teammates weren't having as much luck. Alyss' spell missed its target and she got hit herself, for the first time in this duel. Kiana did not attack that round, although escaping Matthew's Knockback Jinx, which allowed her to remain in the duel. Poor Kiana, Elisa thought, empathetic of the upperclassman's situation, she must be really suffering from all those spells launched on her!

Meanwhile, the moderator was rambling something about the lake- or had Elisa misheard him? She chuckled slightly to himself, glancing at the older Gryffindor. He seemed somewhat a bit distracted from the duel.

Looking back at her team, Elisa realised they hadn't quite exchanged anything apart from a shy 'hello' at the very start. "Girls, we're doing pretty good", she approached her teammates, "Let's win them, alright?" She smiled at them, before quickly returning to the duel.

After two rounds in a row of the enemy team focus firing at the young snake it was becoming more and more difficult to not take it personally. What was it they felt was such a threat that he had to be the target of every one of their spells? While it was an excellent lesson in dodging Matthew could feel his temper flaring with every forced manoeuvre not to mention the critical effect it was having on his own aim, as it turned out aiming while being barraged against is not the easiest.

Regardless he had to keep his cool, there was a good chance that given their apparent vendetta against him Matthew would face the devastating blow of unconsciousness this round and therefore had decided he had to at least make his final turn count. Steadying his mind with breathwork built upon by his father he closed his eyes and let the world around him fall away. Ignoring the constant throbbing of his body that had been knocked about and burnt numerous times now he let the steady pace of breathing calm his racing heart.

Whatever happened next was largely out of his control, luck had decidedly chosen to bet against him and his teammates weren't faring much greater. Opening his eyes he took in the sight of the three deadly Vipers across from him and clutching his cherry wand tighter he let one final breath soothe his mind before whipping his wand up prepared for the next move. The move that would likely be his final.

Prat was getting bored with how long the game seemed to have been going on, not that this wasn't thrilling for him. Yet a lingering sense of disappointment settled within him as the duel he expected to end soon was now at round 5. This was now his time to understand how theory or reason on paper might not always translate to a real life scenario or duel. Afterall, things did not go as he had expected and a luck factor was certainly involved in this. Luck or Fate, he wasn't sure. However at least his curse from the last two rounds had ended as he finally managed to land a flipendo at his choice of target.

Thankfully, not only his cast was great but so was his aim as it sent his opponent, Alyss was sent flying with his flipendo, "ouch, that must have hurt a lot" Prat thought. For someone who hadn't been hit the entire game this one sure would be a blow for her. Yet Kia remained in the game, with it halfway over, Prat needed one of them to faint asap. Making sure the game ended sooner. He had better things to do, Like fix up his injuries.

The wood of her wand was beginning to imprint in the palm of her hand as Alyss clutched it like a lifeline. Thoughts whirling, Alyss pointed at Matthew once again and cast. She almost felt bad, but it was what seemed right in the moment. Thankfully for his well-being and unfortunately for her team, she missed. And it wasn’t even close.

As the word Incendio left her lips, Alyss tried her very best to cast the spell and aim accurately all at the same time. But sadly, Alyss was far from perfect, and even if the fiery spell cast, it did not hit its target. In the very same moment, Alyss glanced over at the person who had targeted her twice- or was it three times? Now with Flipendo. It was at that moment that she caught sight of the knockback spell barreling through the air towards her.

It was too late to move out of the way, though Alyss tried. Even as she attempted to dodge, she knew it was futile. The blast hit her and she felt the power in the spell as she barely managed to maintain her footing. It was a hard hit, and her first in the match. Her teeth hurt from the clenching she was doing to her jaw, her core from maintaining her balance, but above all, her gut from taking the brunt of the hit. Wincing from the impact, she paused a moment to collect herself before looking once again at her surroundings.

Somehow, Elisa was still untouched by any spells and Kiana still on her feet. Unfortunately, everyone on the opposing team was also still standing. The moderator, a much older student was beginning to speak about… her death. Gee, how kind of him to have such faith in her. “Thanks for your unwavering belief.” Alyss said sarcastically, shaking her head as if disappointed. A smile was making its way onto her lips, even after the hard hit from Prat’s Flipendo.

Nodding along with Elisa as she tried to hype them up, Alyss fought the urge to give her a flat look, given that she was now the only one of the three untouched by any spells. “Yep, we totally got this!” She agreed, turning so that her smile was visible to the two as well. They could do this! Maybe. Well, only one way to find out.

Parselmouth is in bold black.
It was an odd sensation, being injured. Kia was starting to wonder if she was dead - her limbs felt numb and cold, yet at the same time lit ablaze by a burning sensation. Had the fire worn off yet? It better have. She didn't have time to heal herself. She'd already skipped her attack last round, out of breath and utterly exhausted. It must have distracted her. Gotten her in a daze. But now she was feeling slightly reinvigorated - it would have to do. The slew of sensations on her body: dehydration, fatigue, exhaustion, not to mention excessive heat was unbearable but at this point, after seeing how far she'd gotten, she would sooner die than face humiliation. But a glass of water would have been nice.

She raised her wand, readying herself for another attack. She looked around, observing her opponents - good. They looked distracted. Removing herself seemed to do a little to help erase her presence: now she had the golden opportunity to surprise attack them.

She glanced at Matthew, who had been the victim of recent attacks. She sincerely hoped he didn't take her hurling spells personally. She'd apologize after the duel was won.

Kiana positioned herself carefully, eyes locked in on her prey as she aimed.
