oned in as she was on her task, Evelynn did not immediately divert any interest or attention towards the young boy who eventually came to join at her table. As long as those around her remained relatively quiet, their only uttered sounds that of the scratching of quills and pen on paper, she found it easy to shut them out. Usually, anyway. Every now and then, someone's thoughts would rise above the low din, clamouring for her attention by momentarily drowning out her own inner dialogue, but those occasions seemed to be few and far between of late. Even the obnoxious objection of a chair scraping against floor immediately beside her caused only a brief hesitation in her writing. What did draw her eye, however, was the appearance of a black journal.

Slate gray eyes snapped to the tome immediately, the rhythm of her heart hitching for the brief window of time that it took to realize that it wasn't hers. A heavy disappointment pressed upon her frame, followed by self-chastisement that she could possibly have gotten her hopes up at all in the first place. Her own worn black leather-bound journal had been missing for two... three?... months now. It wasn't about to suddenly make a spontaneous appearance. Her gaze slid over to the journal's young owner appraisingly. Small, with tousled brown hair and freckles that added an air of innocence to his appearance, @Jan Dehoff reminded her of a younger Jake Morris, though clearly there was more to him if his choice of companion was a book of thoughts than a stuffed bear. Nevertheless, she returned to her writing, keen to put down her thoughts and depart.

She was just about to rise, gaze sweeping one last time over her completed work when a small voice spoke up beside her. "As frustrating as that might me," Evelynn murmured back to him, "that is a good thing. It means the task is forcing you to challenge your existing beliefs and understanding. I am sure you will think of something." With that, she slung the strap of her satchel over a shoulder, moved to the front to pin her dissent of "Tolerance", and took her leave to head for the library.

It’s not easy to tolerate.

Is not easy to tolerate anything really. When you are a teenager, it usually is love it or hate it. No in between.

It is very difficult to tolerate everything, much more to accept them and much more to like them. Yet, we can always make a small step. Towards tolerance. Because many times, it is better to stay truly neutral than to act. Than to take a side. “Love it” or “Hate it”. There is a middle. And that is tolerance. Not everyone can tolerate. Though we can all try. And remind ourselves that we must try, if we want to succeed in tolerating.

Maybe we can make a list. Of things we tolerate. And add to that list. I’ll make one now. For reference and because why not? It will help me visualise my goals. So behold:

I tolerate pain.
I tolerate grief and the pain of losing many people.
I tolerate injustice and prejudice.
I tolerate extremities.
I tolerate sleep-deprivation and constant exhaustion.
I tolerate losing.
I tolerate other’s opinions of blood purism.
I tolerate the will to hurt others.
I tolerate deaths and mysterious things.

But I can’t just tolerate. I must take action. And now.

I won’t tolerate the pain you want to case to me.
I won’t tolerate anyone who wants to hurt my sister or my family.
I won’t tolerate anyone who chases me for my beliefs.
I won’t tolerate recklessness that results to danger or injury.
I won’t tolerate terrorism.
If you wish to do that, I won’t tolerate you.

But maybe you don’t tolerate me. I get that. I can be very obnoxious when I’m emotional or in an odd mood. And if you are playing it tough or are just genuinely annoyed, I’m sorry. But even if you don’t like it, you have to tolerate me. It has to go both ways.

If you tolerate me, you must accept my allegiance towards certain types of people.
If you tolerate me, you must accept my ideas, ideals and beliefs.
If you tolerate me, you must accept my religion; I’m Christian Orthodox.
If you tolerate me, you must accept my behaviour and occasional mistakes and blunders.
If you tolerate me, you must not be jealous of me, or try to hurt me in any way.
If you tolerate me, you must realise how overprotective I am and get used to it.
If you tolerate me, you must accept my unconditional love towards family.

If you tolerate me, you must still accept me as I am.
If you tolerate me, you must not inflict pain on me.

I know tolerance is a difficult thing and you must try. Because I try, and everyone should, in fact. Sage wanted to spread awareness, and so do I. Everyone here wants to feel accepted. If you can’t love, like. If you can’t like, accept. If you can’t accept, tolerate. If you can’t tolerate, at least try to.

We can do this.
