"Sure, I'll see you later Hacue!" Avery waved as he walked back to where his dad motioned him to be. Avery then turned her attention back to Poppy. She hoped that she didn't also have to leave because Avery didn't know what she would do with herself. "You aren't leaving too, are you?" Avery asked to Poppy as she hoped the girl wouldn't leave. She was beginning to enjoy talking to the girl. Especially now that she knew they were both from the same city.

Avery glanced over and saw another girl walk into the room. She knew she had seen her before, but didn't remember her name. She hadn't spoken to her yet, but she hoped the girl was willing to chat. Avery turned her attention back to Poppy, so she wouldn't be rude.

As Avery and Poppy were talking the girl came up to them and asked them if she could join in. "Sure, the more the merrier. What's your name?" Avery asked. She wanted to get to know her since the girl seemed really nice. She loved her dress. It was a beautiful and flowing. "By the way, your dress is absolutely beautiful." Avery hoped that all of them would become friends because she was enjoying talking to fellow students.

𝓣he Avalon's were one of the later of the pure-blood families to arrive, whether this was due to their own tardiness, the invitation getting lost, or a general lack of care about timeliness was unclear to all but themselves, regardless, they turned up in their usual boisterous manner, oh yes, by the noise they created just by their presence alone it was very clear that the Avalons were here.

Taking up the head of the family, Henri Avalon, a mountain of a man with a thick greying blonde beard and thicker neck was patting his brother Felix firmly upon the shoulders, chortling about some inside joke, Henri wore a dark blue tux with the sleeves torn off at the shoulders, he had done his best to fit into the new outfit purchased by his wife for this formal occasion but the first movement of his boulder sized arms had shredded them clear off, his top two buttons were missing, having been propelled by his vast chest like bullets a few miles back, his black bow-tie now resting against his furred blonde chest.
Meanwhile, the brother he had been slapping on the back, Felix Avalon, a slim, sharp looking man with slicked back, pitch black hair was doing his best to retain his footing against his brothers onslaught of blows, wincing slightly as he only barely perceptively stumbled, a feat that seeing the size of the larger brother looked like he was nearly an immovable object, Felix was dressed in a sleek black tuxedo, one that seemed almost to be made of liquid with how it flowed in the shimmering of the balls lights, practically immaculate except for the ruffling that had been caused by Henri.

Felix was complaining that he had not been allowed to bring any of his wives to the event, to which Henri remarked loudly "Ah ye see Fel, this 'ere event was fer Accy (pronounced Ach-Hee) an' her direct rellies, an' thou her aunts may be jus' tha' we dun wanna be crowdin' the place up, roight?" he remarked in answer to another chortle and another slap on poor Felix's heavily assaulted back.

"I suppose..." Felix grumbled a little, he was a bit of an oddity among the Avalon clan, tending to be more level-headed when it came to normal interactions, but seeing the ball ahead, a ballet of beautiful women that he could go and charm, his face turned into a grin equal that of his brothers, his eyes flashing with mischievous intent, though subtle and reflecting his mother more, that Avalon streak was still alive and well in his heart.

Taking up the rear was Accalia and her mother, Lana, Lana was fretting over Accalia's gown, and her hair, and the new dirt stain on her cheek, in fact Lana seemed to be at the moment fretting in general, she had known the family she was marrying into and for the most part she fit the vibe of the Avalon's absolutely perfect, but it was moments such as being invited to a black tie ball that really showed her being married in rather than raised within, sure she was an adventurer who explored all corners of the world, but part of that was knowing to dress for the occasion, she was wearing a spectacularly blue ball-gown with a faux fur coif, matching her young daughters in all but color, atop her head her usual hat had been replaced by a champagne colored ladies bowler hat.

Accalia was wearing the red equivalent of her mothers ball-gown, her hair done neatly back into a braid and for once appearing as though it had been brushed, she had the faintest smack of lipstick upon her lips and blush upon her cheeks, though by the look of it, she had fought against her mothers application of makeup, even as her mother was trying to straighten her outfit, fix her arm bangles, fix her hair, Accalia feeling the outfit as itchy was attempting to undo each step, tugging her hair trying to remove her hairband, slipping the bangles around on her wrists, tugging at the dress that she had been forced to wear, feeling like her legs were naked without their usual shorts or tracksuit pants that she wore even under her robes at school, she knew that her mother had the best intentions, it did not however stop her from being irked by them.
Perhaps the most irksome of all though were her heels, her mother had insisted on her wearing a brand, sparkling new pair of silver heels, though they were kitten heels and only rose around 2 inches from the ground, it was enough for Accalia to hate the very concept of them, she missed her runners, missed being able to feel the ground beneath her feet, to be able to run without stressing about how her feet would land, she intended on ditching them and hiding them away the moment her mother let her out of her sight, planning on switching back to runners that she had stashed away in her handbag that her mother had also insisted upon.

She had given up on protesting her mother a few hours ago, basically from the moment she had arrived home from Hogwarts for the weekend and her mother had seen the invitation she had been getting her family ready, knowing that it would be a near monumental task, she had managed to convince Felix's wives to take the boys in for the night, at least that prevented them from getting underfoot among many of the other pure-blooded peers, but an Avalon will Avalon, the moment they crossed through the doors of the grand hotel, they each went in separate directions.

Henri sought out the nearest bar, hoping to see if there were any alcohol service for the parents during this event, if there wasn't he would likely move over to greeting and trying to befriend some of the other fathers at the ball, his eyes were scanning for the parents of friends that Accalia had mentioned she'd been making at the school, the Kabukimono, Sato, Macailin, Park or Sikorski parents in particular, after all, if they were friends of his daughter he may as well be friends with their parents, it would truly tie the clans together in his mind.

Felix checked to make sure he was immaculate, he knew most adults here would be parents of the children, still, if a single mother was present he would certainly be trying to sway her over, convince her that she wished to spend more time with him, and hopefully see if he could add a thirty first aunt for Accalia.

Quitting fussing over her daughter, Lana followed Henri next, she would joyfully partake in conversation with him, while also keeping a close eye on his movements to steer him clear of any embarrassing acts.

Left alone, finally, Accalia undid the tighter of the braids in her hair, only to have it magically redo itself due to a charm her mother had placed upon it, grumbling for but a moment she spotted her self appointed adoptive sister and trainee in among the other children, this caused her face to light up as she called out at the top of her lungs "EO! EO!" rushing over to Eonaria and the group she had been starting to talk with, kicking free from her heels as she rushed over, as she met Eonaria and the group that she was talking with Accalia threw her arms around her friend and gave her a hug.

"Thank the goddess that you're here Eo, I am so glad to see you" she remarked, then turning to the girls that Eo had been speaking with, she thrust her hand forward to shake theirs in greeting.

"Accalia Avalon, pleased to meetcha" she remarked presenting a smile that near matched her fathers, though if her smile was as bright as a sun, his was as bright as a supernova, still, it was apparent from how she fidgeted, and the fact her shoes were in the middle of the ballroom floor, that this sort of dress-up really did not suit her, far more comfortable running through the wilds around Hogwarts or her home, than in the midst of polite society, looking over at the snack table from the corner of her eye she frowned in that she likely wouldn't even be able to reach the top of the table even if she were to be on her tip-toes, ahh well, for now, friends, she could always drag a chair over to the table to feast later.

XXXEonaria walked up to Poppy and the unfamiliar Gryffindor with a smile, asking to join. The girl she didn't know agreed brightly, asking for her name. "I am Eonaria Kabukimono. And you?" Then Eonaria beamed at the compliment about her dress. "Oh, thank you so much!" It was one that had been sitting in her closet at home for a year, and she was glad she could finally use it for something, though it felt rather chilly despite the warm candlelight scattered around the ballroom. The elaborate, high-domed ceiling that bore an intricate crystal chandelier definitely didn't help much with the temperature. She should have brought some kind of winter shawl. Did she even have any? Eonaria would have to ask her mother- not that it would do any good, since they were already here.

XXXEonaria heard a rather loud commotion behind her, most likely another family arriving, late like her, but chose not to turn around. After all, it might be considered slightly rude to the two in front of her. But it seemed like someone was complaining loudly. That's.. a little odd. Eonaria attempted to ignore it, cracking a wry smile.

XXXShe was about to ask the two girls if they were enjoying the ball so far when she was tackled rather aggressively, accompanied by an enthusiastic shout of her name. Eonaria screeched quite embarrassingly before she spotted a flash of familiar red hair and began to giggle. "Whoa! Accy! That's quite the entrance!" She hugged her very favorite unofficial sister before fixing her hair with a bright smile, watching as the boisterous girl expressed her relief at seeing her before introducing herself to the group. Eonaria grinned widely. This was a formal event, but having Accalia here definitely lessened the tension and made it feel more relaxed. But once she actually got a good look at her sis, Eonaria's jaw dropped. "Wha- huh- I've never-" She was speechless.

XXXShe had never seen Accalia in a dress before, and it was magnificent one, too. She sported a crimson ball gown along with makeup(MAKEUP??), jewelry, and heels. Eonaria forgot to put on makeup- whoops. "I have no words!!" She squealed. "You look awesome! Although, I'm much more used to seeing you in work-out gear and sneakers. But still-" Eonaria didn't think she had enough words in her brain, and settled for waving her hands up and down and jumping excitedly. "Sorry. Hehe." She beamed, forcing herself to relax.

"Nice to meet you Eonaria. I'm Avery Gray." Avery responded. She loved the group they had created. It was so much fun to meet all these new people! Even though she had seen them around the castle. Suddenly, a girl with red hair ran up to Eonaria and gave her a big hug. The girl seemed to know each other, and Avery smiled. She liked the energy of the other girl.

The other girl introduced herself as Accalia Avalon. She had on a pretty red dress with her hair done up. She looked very sharp, yet instead of being calm, she was energetic. Avery loved the fact that there was at least one person here with energy. People with energy always made everything more fun. Especially at parties.

Avery turned to the girl named Accalia and said, "Nice to meet you too, Accalia. I'm Avery Gray. I believe I've seen you before. Are you a Gryffindor too?"

Avery was hoping there would be another Gryffindor. She was sad that Hacue had to leave because he seemed like a friendly person, and he was also a Gryffindor. She was hoping that she could find people to talk to in the Common Room when Ava wasn't there.

Poppy realized she was surrounded by griffendors. Well, this was certainly a look, a bird surrounded by lions. Why wasn’t anyone else from her house here? Maybe their families weren’t one for parties. She almost wished her family wasn’t so social.

These events always put her through a whirlpool of emotions. Just as she was startling to relax around Avery, when two new purebloods showed up. Now she had to carefully navigate them until she found out enough information to hopefully get to be comfortable.

She had already meet Eon, as the other girl called her, before this event. However she hadn’t introduced herself to Accalia yet, so she attempted to politely interject herself in the conversation.

“There surely seems to be a bunch of Griffendor’s here, maybe I went to the wrong gathering. I’m Poppy, Lytle by the way, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” There, now she wouldn’t seem like a silence shark was placed upon her again.

Although she couldn’t help but have her brain start racing at the name Avalon tied with the girl wearing a fancy dress and makeup. Were they attempting to break their families stereotype? Yet they were friends with Eonaria, which meant Poppy had to be careful around her now. The last thing she wanted was an Avalon mad at her, they were dangerously loyal.

𝕭rushing off the compliment about her outfit Accalia almost seemed to... did the perpetual grin turn into a frown for a second? An odd look for sure that it was clear Accalia was not so used to making.

"This dreadful thing? I would rather be wearing my workout gear, or at the very least something more clan traditional than this, but ma insisted that we needed to make a good impression, that the Avalon's need to step forth into the world of socio-polik or something along those lines, I darn near bit her fingers off when she was trying to apply this wretched stuff to my lips" she grumbled, making it very clear that even with the compliments, she still felt out of place, like a wild creature forced to dance on strings at a circus.

"She even enchanted the damned heels, how are you supposed to run in these awful things! Now whenever I kick them off they find their way back onto my feet, apparently the curse is only set to last to the end of the ball, but I would do ANYTHING to be rid of them!" she continued her spree of complaints directed towards her sister.

"You look rather ravishing though Eo, if I didn't know you better, I would ask you to dance with me and become the envy of all here" she playfully flirted with her then turned her attention back towards the others, small rant over.

"Pleasure is mine AV, yup, I am in Gryffindor as well, first year, not assigned a dorm just yet but I have applied for Wampus or Thestral! I am certain we've spotted each other around as well, I never forget a face!" She beamed, as though her complaints of mere seconds ago were washed into the ether of making friends.

Hearing Poppy remark that there were a bunch of Gryffindor and that she felt almost out of place, as though having gone to the wrong gathering Accalia turned her attention over to Poppy and away from her starting conversation with Avery.

"Nice to meet you as well Pops, it does indeed seem a few of us here are currently Gryffs, but don't stress, I think there's at least going to be one other Ravenclaw showing up eventually, not to mention that Slytherins may make an appearance, 'sides, just because I am Gryff doesn't mean my family is, Ma over there was a Ravenclaw too" she nodded towards her mother who was trying to stop her dad from downing a full barrel of, by the color, was probably either beer or butterbeer.

"My dad, he's with the badgers, a right graduate of Hufflepuff, and finally" she scanned the crowd and rolled her eyes as she saw her uncle deep in conversation with another of the attendees mothers, it was clear she was a single parent, after all it was one of the first things at a gathering like this Felix would have checked on.

"That... is my uncle, he was a Slytherin, he's the uncle I was telling you about Eo" she remarked to the three, hoping Eo remembered when they first met and she'd gotten the full quote of her uncle from Accalia.

"He's... a bit of an eccentric Slytherin, if that's the right word for it" she laughed hoping that her mothers fusspotting would not reflect too negatively on the Avalon's, they were known for their feasts, not so much for their balls, in fact it was like as not the first that Avalons as a clan had ever attended, she'd hate for everyone here to think that they were a bunch of spoilsports, yet again she tried to smear the lipstick off her lips on the sleeve of her gown, the lipstick staying protected and firm against her lips while her gown stayed near unruffled, leading to another grumble from the girl.

XXXPoppy looked a bit apprehensive at being surrounded by three Gryffindors, commenting as such. Eonaria giggled. "Haha, don't worry, we're not about to challenge you to a duel or anything." But once she commented on how amazing Accalia looked, the boisterous girl immediately looked put out. Accalia began grumbling about how dreadful her clothes were and how her mother wanted the Avalons to step out into the world of.. socio-polik...? Eonaria tilted her head. "Y-you mean sociopolitical...?"

XXXAccalia continued to complain about the heels and makeup her mother forced on her, eliciting a small giggle from Eonaria. "Um, you could.. cut them up...?" She scratched her head. Wait, that probably wasn't a good idea. "Ermm, never mind."

XXXShe choked when Accalia joked that she would invite her to dance. "Oh, Merlin no! I've taken dance lessons, but they've never turned out very well." Eonaria shook her head. "I'd step on you, or on someone else, or otherwise just trip over nothing!" So embarrassing! Wait, why did she admit that out loud...? She didn't know Poppy or Avery very well yet. Whoops.

XXXEonaria listened happily as Accalia pointed out her family members' houses to Poppy before adding that her Slytherin uncle was the one she told Eonaria about almost a month ago. "Oh, that's him?" She glanced curiously in the direction Accy was looking at. Eonaria was a bit surprised at his appearance- not that he looked terrible or amazing, either in her imagination or at the ball- just different. She squeaked in surprise upon seeing Accalia's father attempting to down an entire barrel of butterbeer... or maybe it was something more alcoholic. "Wow, your family seems really all over the place- in a good way- very chaotic and.. lovable." Eonaria grinned.

XXXShe turned back to Poppy and Avery. "Excuse us, we are a very.. disorderly duo when paired together. Not very proper of us." Eonaria chuckled, attempting to school her composure back to a socially acceptable level. "Are you waiting for anyone else, perchance? If this isn't really your thing, I wouldn't want you to be stuck listening to us ramble on," she explained apologetically.

Poppy enjoyed watching the two friends interact. It reminded her of Dove, a fellow ravenclaw who sadly couldn't be here due to only being a wizard born. Then she thought about her friend Viviana, who could be here but Poppy hadn't had much contact with since going to hogwarts. They both must've been busy with classes and being sorted differently and all.

As she heard Accalia talk about dancing, she wished for a second that Accalia was a guy. Then it would be acceptable for them to dance together and wow the room. Also dancing with a Avalon wouldn't be a bad look. Did Accalia have a brother here? Before she could think of something else the conversation shifted agian.

Eonaria mentioned her poor dancing skills. It seemed odd to Poppy that she would mention something so easily turnable to gossip so causally. Did she already feel comfortable around Poppy because of their meeting in the owlery? Maybe she overthought that meeting, maybe she should've tried to be friendlier.

The young ravenclaw was pulled out of her analysis with the question. Was she waiting for somone? Did she want to lie and lower the group around her. No, this was nice, everyone seemed so at ease.

"I'm not waiting for anyone, so please don't feel like you're intruding. I enjoy the company. Especially now that I know you lions aren't about to duel me or anything." She hoped the joke playing off of Eonaria's words would land well.

Avery smiled as she watched the two friends interact. As she watched them, she thought back to her friends Joseph and Ava. Unfortunately, Ava couldn't make it due to her status as a half-blood. Joseph, on the other hand, was a pureblood. She didn't know if he was coming, since she hadn't had the chance to ask him in Herbology. They were usually partners during that class, but the teacher kept them busy, so they didn't get a lot of chances to actually talk.

Avery commented to Accalia. "That's really cool! I also applied to the Thestral dorm, but haven't gotten a response yet. Hopefully we get a response soon!" Avery lightly laughed as she glanced over to the door to see if anyone else had shown up yet. She was hoping that more people would come, so she could meet more people. The more people she met, the more she could know about Hogwarts.

"Not to change the subject, but I'm curious. What is your favorite class so far this year? Mine is probably Herbology since I made friends with Joseph. Or it's Transfiguration because I love changing stuff from one thing to another. It's quite interesting."

Avery was excited to know what their favorite classes were. It would mean that they would be a step closer to becoming friends. That would also mean that they would be a step closer to getting to know the other better. Maybe even find similarities between each other.
