𝑬 𝑨 𝑹 𝑳 𝒀 ● 𝑳 𝑰 𝑭 𝑬 | Cassandra grew up as the only child of a single mother. She never knew much about her father, just the occasional hint dropped by her mother, scraps of information which she salvaged and tried to form into a coherent picture: she was the product of a passionate but short-lived encounter in Romania, with a local man named Corvin. When Corvin disappeared without notice after only a few days spent together, Cassandra's mother returned to England, only to discover that she was with child.
Her mother always did her best to make sure Cassandra's needs were accounted for, keeping her reasonably well-fed and well-dressed. Nonetheless, in every aspect beyond the basic necessities, her lifestyle was erratic. For as long as Cassandra could remember, her mother struggled to hold down a job or even to settle down in general, leading them to move house distinctly more often than most people. Cassandra tried to support her as much as she could, but struggled with the fact that she could never really feel rooted in any one place, becoming increasingly hesitant to make herself at home anywhere in anticipation of soon having to move on once more.

𝑺 𝑪 𝑯 𝑶 𝑶 𝑳 ● 𝑳 𝑰 𝑭 𝑬 | Up to the beginning of her education at Hogwarts, Cassandra was enrolled in several Muggle primary schools, changing from one school to another every time she and her mother moved to yet another new town. One would expect her academic progress to suffer from the constant need to adapt to new curricula, and in the case of some subjects which she had not been particularly interested in in the first place, this may even be true. However, she never had trouble keeping up with anything related to science and mathematics, as she developed a love for the field at a young age and spent her free time studying, trying to understand the laws that governed the world and the universe.
The most noticeable effect of their frequent relocations was therefore not related to her performance in school, but rather to Cassandra's social life. Although her teachers would generally describe her as a pleasure to have in class - quiet, modest, attentive, far from being a troublemaker - she felt increasingly distant from everyone around her and became reluctant to try to form new friendships, knowing that she would soon have to leave the others behind.
When she received her letter from Hogwarts, Cassandra felt anxious and excited in equal measure. A whole new world opening up to her - and finally, a school where she wouldd spend the next seven years. She had never been in one place that long before. It felt almost too good to be true...
...and apparently, it was. Her actual schooling at Hogwarts was up to a rocky start. From being sorted into Slytherin, which felt entirely like the wrong choice for her, to making a mess in her very first class, Cassandra had several reasons to look towards the upcoming years with trepidation.
