Eldritch's Hex Code: #8A0F79It was Friday, at long last. As much as Eldritch enjoyed (most) of his lessons, a week worth of them had started to drain him. He already looked dead as is, the weary, exhausted look on his face enhanced it even more. Alas, the last lesson of the day had just come to an end and as all the students thanked the Professor before leaving. Eldritch was not one to speak in a loud manner, but thanked his Professor under his breath, solely out of respect and because he was well-mannered. Well, when he wanted to be at least. It was far too early for him to show any sign of disrespect to anyone who had authority within the castle walls. Besides, his grandmother's reading had made him even more conscious on making sure hes' always on his best behaviour. He remembers her words like a prayer and recites them every morning.
On his way out of the classroom, Eldritch wished to wave goodbye to some of his peers. But the lot had walked off chattering and cackling about, barely noticing his intentions. With a frown, he took the opposite direction to avoid any awkward interactions - he did not intend to be viewed any more of a creep than he was already sure of. He had heard the whispers, some were viciously wicked, others didn't sting at all, whilst others had filled him with a concoction of satisfaction and confidence. However, deep down he knew that he needed to make friends, and sometimes he wished so too. He had never known anyone around his age back home. It was always busy adults or the freaky wizards and witches that his family asked to tag along.
"But you have us!" Barged one of the voices in his head. This one spoke in a loud, obnoxious Russian accent. He had died of frostbite and his body is still frozen in the middle of a tundra far, far away. Or so the story went. Eldritch's loneliness had led him to make his own friends until they felt like they had become real - a little bit too real. But that wasn't necessarily a bad thing.
"I've had you since I was eight. I need new friends now." Whispered Eldritch as he walked down the corridors, passing by students who were heading towards the opposite direction. Some arched their eyebrows at him, clearly confused, but he paid no attention nor did he even notice in the first place.
The more he walked, the less students frequented the halls, till there was barely a soul left. But Eldritch was too mindless of his surroundings, distracted by the conversation happening in his head.
"Why would you need other comrades in your life? My comrades left poor Sergei all alone in the cold till he was too cold to feel anything and too hungry to move. That was when he met good wizard Eldritch and made friends with him!"
"Don't lie, you had been dead long before I was even born."
"A soldier never lies! Ask the knights you're walking by!"
"Knights? Oh." Eldritch stopped at a halt, his face still like the moon on a clear evening. Whiteness and all. His hands clasped at his black backpack, the walls around him looked alien. He did not recognise them at all.
"I don't think I've ever been here." He whispered to himself, slightly concerned, turning around and about trying to figure out where he was. Had he even took any stairs? Which hallway did he set his path on? The one on the left or the right? Was that Gargoyle statue even there a minute ago? It looked at him like it was about to eat him for dinner. Spooky... he liked it. Maybe it would be in his best interest to keep on moving forward, but he couldn't trust the path behind him, so he walked backwards, keeping his eye on the inanimate object that looked like it was moving. He could swear there were taps of footsteps coming from somewhere.
"Do you hear that?"
"Not if you keep talking."
"It's coming for you!"
"Shut up!"

November 2nd, 2024 Corridors“English” “Gaelic”
Alyss had somehow found herself lost. She hadn’t actually used the study room yet, seeing as she preferred the library or the Slytherin common room. This time, however, she decided that she wanted to have a change of scenery, and possibly explore the castle a bit more. While they were 2 months into the school year, Alyss still often found herself wide-eyed and wondrous while gazing at the inner workings of Hogwarts.
All this to say, it wasn’t necessarily uncommon for her to find herself eyeing the walls and portraits, looking for something familiar. In most of those cases, she’d been able to find her own way out of the unknown maze and into one that she knew a little better. As Alyss inspected the various knights and gargoyles, she had the realization that she heard no one. No footsteps, no chatter, none of the occasional sudden laughs of students on a Friday. It was so quiet. Too quiet.
“Hello? Anyone there?” Alyss called into the seemingly empty corridor. This was immediately followed by a giggle as she heard the softer voice of the hallways echo her words. “Echo, echo!” Alyss laughed, beginning to skip down the open halls. She had no class immediately following, with merely time that should be used to study her transfiguration. Was she going to do that regardless of where she ended up? Probably not.
It was then that, as she came upon a gargoyle, she briefly heard another voice. One that wasn’t an echo. Perhaps it had been there before and she had merely missed it, but color Alyss surprised! She nearly jumped, immediately slowing from her skipping into a more casual walk, almost tiptoeing along, catching the tail end of whoever it was’s sentence.
“..ut up!” Alyss tilted her head slightly, not quite absorbing the fact that not only was she not alone, but it sounded like multiple students if they were talking aloud! Or they were just as odd as she, and also discovered the echo. “Shut up” would be a pretty goofy thing to say to an echo. Repeating her words from earlier, Alyss stepped around the corner and asked:
“Hello? Anyone there?”
