As the room was adjourned with an erected wall that Noah cast (Structure Building Charm), he put up a picture of a muggle suburbish town, as there were houses in the background. The streets had a few pebbles and a random pothole in the street. The grass was nearly trimmed and kept up, the houses looked a bit beat up on the offhand. He put a pot with a tree in it directly in the center of the room so there was at least some live greenery in the approximate area.

The next thing Prat and Noah did was set up a small table that had a non-alcoholic spicy margarita and a platter of hors d'oeuvre. It was nothing too extravagant but he wanted to try and ensure that the scene came to life in some way.

In September, Noah had asked his fathers for a nerf gun, something he couldn’t bear to ask his muggle neighbor Mario for, and his fathers sent him one via owl. It was a Colt M1911 and it had foam bullets and he wanted to use that for the game tonight. OC godmod: Noah and Prat met with a [faceless] npc of sixth year and they obliged his request to cast the Silencing Charm on the gun so that when it fired it was silent.

Now, Noah and Prat made identification cards for his groups. He also made invitations with the information about their characters as well as their secrets and grudges and how they know one another. He sent everyone who signed up an owl and the murderer got the nerf gun along with their ID card and their invitations and character information. They were instructed to try to conceal the gun in their invitation because otherwise it would be pretty obvious that he were the murderer.

When it was time for the game to begin, he stood there in his World War Two British Military suit saluting each person who came in. "Come in sirs and madams."

Notice
Every mod post, you will notice that the light goes out every time there is a murder. The light stays out for 1 minute to allow the murderer to conceal the weapon in some way and to avoid suspicion. When the light goes out, you'll hear a bang from the nerf gun and if you feel yourself getting shot with a foam bullet, you have been killed. You may lay down on the ground and play dead. You may find a funny pose to be in, whatever. When the light goes back on, a vote will be held to accuse someone of the murder.

I've been accused of a murder! What do I do?
Well dearie, you would've been considered "executed" if the majority votes you as murderer. This means that you are out. The game is over when all of the players are dead except for the detective and murderer, or when the murderer has been accused and executed.

How do I vote?
Every round, you need to send me an owl of who you're voting or accusing. Additionally you MUST post otherwise your vote will be seen as invalid.

I did not post for a round or more, what happens? (if you don't send me your vote but post, it's okay, don't worry about it.)
The murderer will likely kill you the next round.

I'm the murderer! What happens now?
Post each round. Send me your target via owl. In Character, when the lights go out, you can pull out your nerf gun and shoot your target. You will have the rest of the minute to hide the gun or conceal it.

I'm the detective! What happens now?
Post each round. Send me your accused victim via owl. You cannot be killed.

I'm a doctor! What happens now?
Post each round. Send me your accused victim via owl. There will be a second blackout in the mod post in where you will have a CHANCE of healing the shot victim.

I was a shot victim! I was healed!
Good for you, you may continue in the game. However, one of your limbs have been ic AMPUTATED so in roleplay, you would not have that limb because the doctor amputated the shot limb.

What if I have to leave Out of Character and I'm the Murderer or a Doctor or a Detective?
That's fine, just please notify us at some point. We will owl another person and give them an additional "title" for their character that they are already playing. For example: Baker is now Murderer but still the same character, you don't gain another. When it comes to a detective and a doctor, unfortunately, we won't pass it on. The game continues until its over.

Please note: We are taking actions via owl so that actions and votes are anonymous to keep the mystery. What you choose to say or do in your post whether ooc or ic can be used against you so do your best to keep your "secret" role anonymous. If you are a detective or a murderer it can be used against you if you say it out loud. We suggest coming up with an undercover job to conceal the fact. Not required, you could be vague, but what you say and do whether oc or ic can be used against you.

1. Blackout #1
-> Murderer Shot Accuracy: 1d100 [1-49, miss. 50-100, hit]
-> Murderer Body Part Hit: 1d6 [1 - Left Arm, 2- Left Leg, 3- Right Arm, 4- Right Leg, 5- Torso/Chest, 6- Head]
2. Lights On [this is so that they see that the victim is shot and allows the doctor to see who they're healing if they can.]
3. Blackout #2
-> Doctor Healing: 1d100 [1-49, failed to heal. 50-100, successfully healed but amputated the limb]
--> Additional notice re healing: If the torso or head is shot, the victim cannot be healed. This is simply skipped if the torso or head was shot. If a limb [right leg/arm, left leg/arm] was shot and the doctor successfully healed you, then you are amputated. If they failed to heal you and you were shot anywhere on your body, you are dead.
4. Lights On
5. Accusation/Execution Time
--> Additional notice re Accusation/Execution: If a person is accused via majority, they are eliminated from the game. If there is a TIE, the people accused remain in the game for another round.

Avis took a deep breath and tried to get into the spirit of Carlo Bianchi. He was a respected scholar, which certainly worked in Avis' favor, and she planned to fully become his middle school teacher. She took a couple of creative liberties with him as well, as a respected scholar it seemed unlikely that he would appreciate his job at a middle school, and be quite the arrogant creature. So as she walked in, she stood on her tiptoes in order to try and look down her nose at Noah with a haunting air of arrogance, before giving him a quick wink.

Avis grabbed a drink, but after tasting it a bit, immediately dumped the thing into the plant in the middle of the room and grabbed a hors d'oeuvre to try and get the taste out of her mouth. Whoever thought that it was a good idea to put spice in drinks really needed to rethink their culinary hopes. She coughed and looked at Noah. "Do you got some water or something? Maybe some milk? Why would you give me something spicy without some lactose with it?"

Carlo was certainly not the type of person to sit down on the ground, but Avis had been standing for the past couple of hours and really wanted to sit. So she folded herself down into seiza, the most respectable position she could think of. Carlo, Carlo. What would Carlo do? She fastened her ID to her cloak and scanned the room. After all, if Carlo was to write an article, to understand best, he would need to be attentive to his environment. So she watched and observed, waiting, and hoping that someone would bring some milk, or at least water.

What was Mahlioz doing back at a ball?

She knew all too well what these entailed. She was only a third year, but she knew, of course. How she had been so naive for so long about what happened at these balls was a mystery. How she had gone to three already without getting seriously hurt or cursed or killed was an even bigger one. They still didn't know whether anything horrible had happened during the first ball they'd gone to (and they didn't want to), but in the second one Astra had nearly drowned and in the third one, well... well. Something had happened, and lots of people had gotten hurt, and Pericles had lost his eye. It was still so fresh in people's minds.

Mahlioz had, every time, managed to be away from the danger. They hadn't gotten in the boat when Astra fell in, they weren't anywhere near when Pericles got hurt. It was both a blessing and a curse, because they couldn't do anything for their friends. But despite not having been in any real danger yet (other than breathing a few flames), she knew what Hogwarts balls always meant. So why was she here?

It was... complicated. Partly because they wanted to be there if their friends got hurt. Partly because they wanted to get their mind off of things, and being traumatized could definitely do that. And partly... because maybe her parents would feel bad for her if she got hurt. Maybe they would finally care. Maybe they would regret moving her to France for what felt like no reason.

So Mahlioz was here. The noir style was not one she was all that accustomed with, but the 30s paperboy aesthetic she rather liked, so she decided to go with that. Paperboy caps were peak fashion in Mahlioz's opinion. They had not invited anyone to the dance, mostly because they'd been sort of staying away from people lately. People were hard enough when she was in a good mood - she couldn't deal with them when she felt so awful. Perhaps they would meet someone they knew at this ball. Perhaps not. Did it matter? Hogwarts seemed intent on keeping her away from her friends in time of need anyway.

A murder mystery sounded interesting. At least, this time, it was planned, and a more muggle-like thing. Mahlioz decided that was the way they would be going this evening. It had been too long since they'd played D&D, and roleplaying was fun. She had her ID card, keeping it secret (the rules didn't say you had to show it to anyone, right? better safe than sorry. or did that make you suspicious? gah, social rules were present in games too, apparently. well, she'd figure it out as she went). Then she entered the room.

Being in a muggle-looking street after almost two months of a magical school was very, very weird, even if Mahlioz knew it was mostly an illusion and she was still in the small hall. A boy was there, waiting for them, who had organized this whole thing. If Mahlioz remembered correctly, his name was Noah. They thanked him and quietly stood off to the side, waiting for more people to get here. A girl with brown hair and blue streaks was already there, sitting on the floor (which looked pretty comfortable; Mahlioz was tempted to join her).

It wasn't clear whether the game had already begun or would only start when everyone was there, but Mahlioz felt the need to get into character. Though they weren't sure exactly what that meant in this situation. They read over their ID card, tried to steady themselves and look confident, and waited for whatever this evening would bring.

Rose had yet to have a good ball experience. Since her second year, she had tried so hard to enjoy herself at one of the Hogwarts dances, but so far, something had gone terribly wrong each time she tried. Between her date ditching her, seeing a girl who bullied her and being so anxious she had to leave, and the tent falling on her, Rose hadn't had particularly positive memories. Not to mention all the stories she had heard of others who had even worse experiences- fights, hags, near-death experiences- let's just say, it had gotten to the point where she was close to just giving up, and not going ever again. Something always went wrong.

So when Mylo told her he was thinking about going, Rose was originally... apprehensive. It could be just like all the other times, where something went wrong, but Rose couldn't help but have a little bit of hope. So she had said she would go with them- she trusted Mylo, after all. They may have been a few years younger than her, but he was still one of her closest friends, and she would trust them with her life. (And sometimes, unfortunately, that was necessary at these events.)

But the murder mystery games, at least, sounded fun. And harmless, right? Unless some major drama erupted, then there could be fighting. But it was just a game. No magic, no hags, no enemies. Hopefully, just some good fun with some friends. However, if she was really going to get serious about this game, she wouldn't really be Rose. She would be Luca Marino.

Rose had been practicing her Luca acting in the past few days, and she had to say she was enjoying it. She had tried out a few personas for Luca that she thought may fit- a charmer, a jock- but she had settled on a more moody character. He was confident, poised, and fancy.

And Rose sure felt that way, at least in how she looked. When she received the letter from Noah with her ID card in it, she had noticed quickly that her persona was male and she was not. Rose had originally considered wearing a suit, but it just didn't feel like her, really. She didn't think Noah would fault her, though, for asking her great-aunt for a noir dress instead. Margerie was Rose's go-to when picking outfits for the balls, because of her insane collection of fashion material. She was always happy to help her great-niece and Rose's siblings, too, of course, when it came to fancy dresses they couldn't really afford.

The dress was black, with a huge skirt, and was lined with pearls at the top. She wore dainty gloves and shoes to match, and had done her makeup to accentuate her features. Her hair was in loose waves down her back. Overall, she felt radiant.

Rose took in her surroundings as she entered, giving Noah a small curtsy at his salute. "Thank you, sir," she responded gracefully, but her controlled demeanor didn't last too long.

"Mahlioz!" she said as she spied the third year. Mahlioz was certainly a friend- the two had met a couple of years ago, and had met again in the library a couple of months before the school year ended last year. "How are you?" she asked the Slytherin, then realized that this was technically meant to be a roleplaying sort of event. Her demeanor seemed to change as she then said, "Oh, I mean- hello. My name is-" (she checked her ID card, just in case she remembered the name wrong) "Luca Marino. It's a pleasure to meet you."

There was one other girl there [Avis Marlong], sitting on the ground, and though Rose hadn't seen her earlier encounter with the spicy drink (Rose had learned, in general, to not trust any drinks at the balls), she thought she looked at least a little flustered. Rose gave her a respecting nod, hoping to make friends with her, too. After all, things could get dicey with accusations flying everywhere. Even ignoring her natural want to make friends with most people, having people on her side was a strategy, too.

Turning back to Mahlioz, she commented, attempting to stay in character, "This is going to be an interesting night to watch unfold," she commented. That was kinda emo, but something she decided Luca would probably say.

Cassian was both excited and nervous. He wasn't one to usually put himself out there and go to school activities. But this one sounded fun and intriguing; he couldn't resist this time. But no matter how fun it might be, Cassian still felt the nerves in the pit of his stomach. He read his ID card once again even though he had already memorized it.
Giovanni Moretti. Trusted by the town because of his caring nature.
He was, apparently, Italian. Cassian had enlisted the help of his older sister Eloise to help him with his costume. He wore (what appeared to be, thanks to Eloise's magical expertise) an expensive Italian muggle-style suit from almost a hundred years ago. Cassian's curly and usually messy hair had been slicked back with a comb and too much gel. He held a cig between his fingers like how he'd seen people do in his father's old muggle movies. As far as appearance, Cassian felt like he had done pretty well in becoming Giovanni Moretti.
Now just for becoming Giovanni in personality as well. As Cassian entered the small hall, taking in the decorations and the vibe of the room, he looked around for an opportunity so show Giovanni's caring nature. He smiled brightly at an older Gryffindor girl who he didn't know and waved to a third year Slytherin duelist, who he recognized and knew about but didn't know her name. His eyes landed on a younger Ravenclaw girl who he'd seen around Ravenclaw tower. She was sitting on the ground and seemed to be suffering a bit from something spicy. Cassian, who believed strongly in hydration and never went anywhere without a water bottle, approached the girl.
"Excuse me, good evening. I'm Giovanni, nice to meet you. It seems like you could maybe use a drink of water?" Cassian pulled out his wand, whispered, "potiri putine" and conjured up a glass flask. Slipping his wand back into his smooth suit coat, he pulled out the water bottle, and filled the freshly conjured flask up. He held it out to girl, "Hopefully this will help with the spicy taste. Unfortunately I don't have any milk, that works better, but water is better than nothing, I suppose."

Roleplaying as Maximilien de Fostoncy [x]
English | French

────────────────────────────
Until this day the waves of explosion was still ringing in his ears, reminding him of the apocalyptic moment when everything just went wrong. Maxi had been one of the more fortunate people to be at the outer circle in one of the shops yonder, but still, the blast was a nightmare. Heat, burns, bangs, cries, screams, unconsciousness, and…lost lives. Dark circles grew under those grey eyes, his hair ruffled and skin sallow. Nightmares. Repeated scenes.

A majority of friends or even his bratty cousin Enzo weren’t around, which he was half-disappointed yet half-grateful - he would have to handle everything alone, but those he cared (okay, maybe even that certain annoying blond counts in this) wouldn’t have been so bothered. He should have stayed at Beauxbatons as well, probably, if it wasn’t his desire to temporarily drop out of heavy workload and get a little extra rest, maybe revamping and finish off a novella he had been working on. And it seemed that he had been all wrong, after all.

He knew he had to do something to cheer himself up, instead of sinking into grieve or dysphoria. And so Maxi showed up at the renowned - infamous? - Hogwarts ball that night, dressing in pure black turtleneck sweater and an overcoat, as well as black gloves, grave and solemn. He didn’t have a date, nor he wished to seek one, and Maxi’s presence today was solely for the murder mystery game hosted by the ball organisers. “Murder” didn’t sound exactly appealing to him after the explosion, but pondering why or who on the case had been useless. After the horrible explosion happened, the faculty would probably be more prudent and enhance security checks, so there’s a high chance that the ball would be safe. Probably. And he was always up for a good story. Or rather, a play.

He bowed at the boy in a military styled uniform who was hosting this game when entering the room, invitation held and identity noted. Maxi could almost immediately feel the tale unfolding as he found himself in a muggle town, somewhere that was rather unfamiliar to him, yet the quirky and isolated aura was the same of distant wizarding streets. He took a deep breath, leather-covered fingers gently stroked the ID card in his pocket, and - there went Maximilien de Fostoncy, and came Anthony DeLuca.

Maxi had intended to hop into his role at once, and yet a familiar face was present. He was startled to see Mademoiselle Rose, the young lady from Hogwarts whom he had invited for a dance in his third year, which was completely ruined by falling and flying tents later on. She was still as beautiful as ever in a noir dress, maybe even more, and if it wasn’t that tent disaster they could have had a better time. He doubted if she could - or would - recollect him, but still, he smiled politely. “Fancy seeing you here, Mademoiselle.” He would say. “I hope you are doing well these days?”

There were three other individuals who were already in the room, one young girl with stylish blue-streaked hair was sitting on the floor, one with curly short brown hair and bright emerald eyes seemed ready to kick the game off, and another - Mr. Giovanni, as he had claimed - was being super helpful. “Hello there.” He stepped forward. “Anthony DeLuca. Mind if I join?”

Despite his English was fluent, there was always a detectable French accent in his voice. But an exceptionally heavy accent slipped out when he pronounced the name, more Antoine than Anthony, the French version of the name popped up in his head naturally. There wasn’t a chance for him to introduce himself - his true self - properly to these previously unacquainted people, but maybe they would take their own guess on his school, if they could recognise where the accent belonged to.

“Oh, and just Tony will be fine.” He added, remembering that DeLuca also had an inclination for going by a shorter version of his first name just like Maxi himself (though…in this case he preferred Anthony to Tony, actually). “Eh, Mr. Giovanni, and Miss…?” He nodded at the brunette who apparently had asked for a drink. Pity that he wasn’t the one that had a bar (as indicated in his own ID there was one, wasn’t it?), as he was skilled with drinks, non-alcoholic as of now of course, having grown up in a vineyard. But anyway. Due to his job as a mechanic, Maxi believed that Tony DeLuca would love to lend a hand for local residents. “I am always around if you still need any extra help.”

Their first ball, Mylo wasn't quite sure what to expect except of course food, drinks and music. They had wanted to go last year but had ended up sick and unfortunately wasn't able to make it. So to be able to attend this one they were quite interested.

Mylo had spent a good while picking out the perfect outfit, ending up with a grey suit and a matching hat. Which they had spent way to long putting on and making sure everything looked good, but nobody needed to know that.

Walking to the ball they headed straight for the murder mystery event that he, alongside Rose, had signed up for. And once inside they couldn't help but marvel at the ambience that had been created.

Taking their card they thanked the student who handed it to them, on it it said that they were the baker. So no special task and also not the murderer. Mylo could work with this. Before he could get much further Mylo spotted their friend and walked over.

Rose was stood with two other students, neither of which Mylo recognised so they really hoped neither of them knew him as it was quite the possibility that Mylo had just forgotten them and he really didn't want to seem rude. But Rose seemed to know one of them, so that was a good start.

"Hey Rose, I'm really curious as to how this is going to go." He said, going to stand next to Rose. "You look really nice by the way." He added onto the sentence, feeling like giving his friend a complement was a good way to go, and it was the truth.

Realising that the other students were there as well Mylo quickly turned to them, not wanting to seem rude or anything. "Oh. Sorry, I'm Mylo... Uhm no I'm not." He awkwardly said as they looked at their card again, already having forgotten the name of their character. "I'm uhm Sophia Mancini, nice to meet you."

Wow, this is going great already. Hopefully everything goes better after this, not sure it can get much worse to be honest. They though, internally cringing at the awkward introduction they had given to the others.

Following Meiyu's sudden departure from the Gala, the young girl had almost forgotten that she had signed up for the Whispers of the Dark murder mystery event. Part of her had instantaneously regretted joining said event, yet the arrival of her ID card paired with her desire to indulge in further acts of mischief, amused Meiyu more than she wished to admit. As she infiltrated the group of existing student in the Small Hall, the lioness had noted the vast difference in ambiance compared to the Gala, beginning with a better food menu — the platter of hors d'oeuvre appealing to the young girl more than spam and jell-o.

Curtseying Noah upon her entrance in a light jest, Meiyu took her time, briefly assessing those around her. Meiyu's doe brown eyes trailed around the room, making mental notes on the array of students who quickly encompassed their roles. Her eyes quickly fell on Avis, a fellow first year she had met with the start of the academic year and the tragedy that followed with her descent down the castle's stone stairs. She had settled on her first course of action, quenching her thirst, much to her dismay the table which occupied the drinks and hors d'oeuvres had quickly become surrounded with the game's participants.

Not seeking to converse after the events which had left her irate, she hastily made her way towards the group, walking with confidence to saturate her foul mood with what Meiyu had hoped to be a refreshing drink, appearing as though she was already eavesdropping on the group projecting an air of detachment, her observant gaze likely to mark the young girl as a potential suspect even before the game started. Though, the game was yet to begin, she had more than enough time to stir mischief in due course.

Hey, it started off pretty well. Now, there was a no show and that was the intended bartender. Pyxis Hellebore was not present, but everyone else was. As they all talked and got into their roles, Noah looked around, wondering what all he could do precisely and he decided what to do.

He banged on the wall to bring to attention that the lights were going out. The Blackout. The gun glistened in the natural light, but the murderer was not visible at all, as they were cloaked in the shadow.

The nerf bullet hit Cassian, a tiny red circle left on his left arm, visible as Noah slapped the walls again to bring that attention for the murderer to conceal the gun and for everyone else to be aware that lights are coming on.

He knew who was shot, but did the doctor? (And he knew who the doctor was.)

The lights went back out again, as quickly as the light came back on previously. As the light went back on, Noah whispered, "put your left arm around your back."

Cassian now lost the use of his left arm for the purpose of demonstrating amputation as the doctor has "healed" him. Granted, if the doctor didn't see the victim, they would've died, but that wasn't the case this time around.

"Alright guys, I suppose you're wanting to know who is eliminated. The answer is... nobody. I had 4 votes but they all differed, meaning the majority was not there for me to pull them out."

Order of Mod Post and of What Order it is in:
1. Blackout #1
-> Murderer Shot Accuracy: 1d100 [1-49, miss. 50-100, hit]
-> Murderer Body Part Hit: 1d6 [1 - Left Arm, 2- Left Leg, 3- Right Arm, 4- Right Leg, 5- Torso/Chest, 6- Head]

Whispers of the Dark Group 7
Image posted by the memberAvis took a quick look at everyone in the room as they entered. She gave a quick nod to the girl who introduced herself as Luca Marino, but the fire in her throat distracted her from attempting any sort of conversation.

She grabbed the flask from the boy who offered it to her. Oh for holden's sake. Why did he have to be Giovanni? She frowned slightly, before looking up at him and smiling. "Seems you've realized your mistake, Professor Moriar-Moretti." She mockingly held the flask up as if to toast him, before downing the entire thing. The fire thankfully lessened. It seemed the rest of the group was far too smart to drink an unknown drink, besides the new first year, who was walking towards them, drink in hand. Instinctively, Avis gave her a slightly imperceptible shake of the head, both a don't drink the liquid and don't mention our last meeting. The chances of Meiyu getting that from a slight shake were, she had to admit, quite slim, but one could hope.

Another boy had already entered, introducing himself as Anthony DeLuca. Avis snickered a bit at the French boy's attempt to say Anthony. As he questioned her name she switched the glass to her left hand and held up her right. "Carlo Bianchi, good to meet you Mr. DeLuca." Carlo was not one for first names. They were severely unprofessional. She gave a little hop from her knees to her toes, and bounced up, brightly grinning at the group as the lights went out. She wrinkled her brow in concentration as they flickered on again and back off, then finally on again. It seemed Professor Moriarty (Giovanni) had been shot, as he was holding one arm behind his back. Well then. Apparently, the murderer was quite the bad shot. They were all within like five feet. How could one possibly miss? She rolled her eyes and grinned. "I'd offer you your flask back but you don't seem to have an extra hand." She then turned to the rest of the group. "Soo...any suspicions?" She had hers, of course, but it seemed better at the time to observe the actions and reactions of the others.
