Ah, Brooms...
6/10/24 - Time: 3:26pm
Eonaria gazed longingly at the brooms in the display case. She had quite liked playing Quidditch when she was a child, but that was when she had a toy broom that only rose about three feet off the ground. She'd always wanted to fly like a bird, but unfortunately, she had a fear of heights. Also a terrible sense of balance. If Eonaria tried to play Quidditch, she'd probably fall to her death before she scored anything. Besides, it's not like she was going to try out- she'd probably fail miserably. She hadn't tried going much higher than seven feet(2.1336 meters) off the ground on a broom. But hey, if she did end up trying out(maybe she should practice..?), she definitely wouldn't be a Seeker. Attempting to find a tiny ball zooming all over the place while avoiding Bludgers? No thank you! Speaking of Bludgers, she had to applaud the Beaters of all Quidditch Teams. You'd have to be quite brave to see a heavy ball zooming towards you and whack it away instead of dodging. And what if she missed the Bludger and broke her bones...?
Okay, maybe I should stop thinking about dying during Quidditch. Let's not.. yeah. Alright, bye.
Eonaria decided that she would find a way to bypass her fear of heights- she probably would have to eventually, because of the Astronomy Tower, but she wanted it over quicker. Maybe she could find a new friend here..? Who probably likes flying too? Eonaria looked around hopefully.

Hana, a half-blood witch who grew up in a muggle world, loved to read fairytale books when she was young, she always admires the talent of flying in the sky with just a broom. Well, guess her dream came true today. Hana stood in the Quality Quidditch Supplies store in Diagon Alley, looking at the brooms on the wall. 'Nimbus 2000, Nimbus 2001, Firebolt... Wow, that's a lot of broomstick. If I had enough money... Stop thinking of that Hana, you are just a first year, you can't join the Quidditch team. Moreover, you can't even balance on a bike, how can you manage to fly 100 meters up in the sky without falling over?' However, the thought of flying in the sky with a broom will never disappear in Hana's mind, she looked at the poster of the different positions in a Quidditch team, 'Um... maybe I will be a beater, it sounds fun knocking people over. Okay, that's a bit mean, let's continue.' she mumbled.
Hana looked at the different brooms on the wall while walking and she bumped into someone. Hana looked up, it was a girl with dark hair and green eyes, Hana noticed that she is one of her fellows, a first year Gryffindor. Hana had classes with her but she never talked to her, the girl looked like she is obsessed with Quidditch too. Hana said to the girl, 'Hi, I am Hana, I think I am one of your classmates, a first year Gryffindor. Um... looks like you love Quidditch, me too, but I really never rode on a broom before, have you?' Hana waited her reply, hoping that they will become friends so life in Hogwarts will not be that boring.

Eonaria shifted her attention away from the broomsticks in the display case and began wondering about the intricacies of broom flying. What was the point of the brushes on the back? To make it inconspicuous to Muggles? But then, why would you need to disguise a broomstick at Hogwarts? Her mind began wandering down various rabbit holes about the types of wood that could affect a broom's aerodynamics and other features. Just then, she bumped into someone. Startled, Eonaria looked up to see another first year Gryffindor.
"Oh, hello." Eonaria smiled. "Sorry about that." The other girl replied, "Hi, I am Hana, I think I am one of your classmates, a first year Gryffindor. Um... looks like you love Quidditch, me too, but I really never rode on a broom before, have you?"
Eonaria blinked in surprise. "Oh, hi Hana. It's nice to meet you. I'm Eonaria. Um, yeah, I like watching Quidditch, but not so much playing. I have a fear of heights and it seems like it would be a lot of pressure..." she chuckled nervously. "I've been on a broomstick, but only when I was younger, and I've never played a real match before. I haven't been around enough people to have full teams, y'know. Are you thinking of trying out for the team this year? Apparently Hogwarts revised the ban on first years playing Quidditch, so now we can just try out immediately! It's really cool that they gave us this opportunity. I might try, but I might also fall off my broom, so, uhhh, yeah. What about you?

Hana moved her eyes from the interesting and attractive brooms to the girl's green eyes. The girl introduced herself and asked Hana if she will try out for the Quidditch team this year. Hana replied, ' Oh, that is actually so cool, they let first year to play Quidditch now, I guess my news are just out of date. But, I don't think I will try out this year yet, I'm still not familiar with the wizarding world, I want to explore this wonderful place, maybe I'll do it next year. I really look forward to be in the Gryffindor Quidditch team with you next year, I think it's gonna be fun.'
Hana walked down the shop with Eonaria, gazing on the cool-looking brooms, she said, 'Eonaria! Look at all the brooms, they look so cool, cooler than the brooms I read in fairytales and in some children animations. What type do you want? I want the Firebolt, I heard that it is world-class, it must be a very good broom!' Hana touched the Firebolt display and looked at the price tag, ' Um.. 222 galleons. Oh my- Oh Merlin's beard! That's very expensive, people need to be very rich and good at Quidditch in order to buy this. Well, I don't have either of those qualities so maybe I'll just give up on the dream of having the Firebolt.'

When Eonaria asked if Hana was going to try out for Quidditch this year, Hana was surprised that first years were allowed to play Quidditch now. But then she explained that she didn't want to try out this year since she wasn't familiar enough with the Wizarding World yet.
"Ah, that's understandable." Eonaria nodded. "I grew up in a wizarding family, so I know all about this stuff, but I'm not sure I want to try out either. Too scary." She chuckled. They began to wander through the shop, browsing absentmindedly when Hana suddenly said, "Eonaria! Look at all the brooms, they look so cool, cooler than the brooms I read in fairy tales and in some children animations."
"Really?" Eonaria was surprised. "What were the brooms like in the fairy tales you read?"
Hana looked at the price tag, startled at the high price of 222 Galleons. "Oh my- Oh, Merlin's beard! That's very expensive, people need to be very rich and good at Quidditch in order to buy this. Well, I don't have either of those qualities so maybe I'll just give up on the dream of having the Firebolt."
Eonaria blinked, alarmed at the price. "Oh, that is a lot of money. Yikes. But there are other good brooms that don't cost as much. Like the Nimbus line, and I think the Cleansweeps have come out with some new brooms too... And don't give up on the Firebolt just yet, you will get more money as you grow up, so maybe one day you will be able to get the Firebolt! It will just take a lot of saving."

Eonaria said that she's not sure if she wanted to try out too because she thinks it is a bit too scary. Hana said to Eonaria, 'You're right, it can be scary, especially you have a fear of height. I think it is scary too, imagine flying 100 meters up in the sky without any protection, I can't even do zip-line in the muggle world. If you don't know what zip line is, it's actually an entertainment where you just sit with harness on and it's like just 20 meters away from the ground.'
After a few moments of silent, Hana mentioned the brooms in the fairytales she read, and Eonaria asked Hana what do the brooms look like. Hana replied, 'Well, they look really boring and normal. Basically, they are just the cleaning brooms we used in our daily lives - a thin wooden log tied with straws. In the books or the animation, the character start of cleaning but a second later, they are flying with the broom they used for cleaning, it's kind of ridiculous, to be honest. None of them look like Firebolt or the Nimbuses. They don't even have an official game for flying on brooms in the story books.'
Suddenly, Hana shouted because of the super expensive Fire bolt, and she said that she wanted to give up the dream of having the Firebolt. However, Eonaria encourage her not to give up as they will get more money as they grow up. Hana after hearing that, responded, 'Thanks, Eonaria, I think I should not give up on my dreams, I will have a Firebolt in the future and I hope I can be a good Quidditch player. Moreover, I hope I can do well in Hogwarts, those are pretty much my dream, Oh yea, Eonaria, do you have any dreams that you want to achieve?'

When Eonaria mentioned that she was hesitant to try out for the Quidditch team, Hana agreed that it was scary. Then she told Eonaria about these strange Muggle contraptions called "ziplines" where they put you in a harness and send you floating above the ground. "Wow, that sounds both interesting and really scary!" Eonaria exclaimed. "If something goes wrong, you can't even control your direction to get yourself back to safety! I know you've never been on a zipline, but have you tried other ways to be in the air? I think I read somewhere that Muggles have 'hang gliding' and 'parachuting.' They seem even scarier than playing Quidditch high up in the air. It can't be safe, can it?"
Hana went on to recall the broomsticks in the fairy tales she read, noting that they looked like ordinary brooms used for cleaning and that it was ridiculous that it was being used to sweep on one page and suddenly being used to fly on another. Eonaria found this both mildly amusing and slightly insulting. "Wow, Muggles really don't understand broomsticks, do they? If you tried to use a Nimbus 2000 to sweep the floor, it probably wouldn't even clean the dust properly. It was made to fly, not to.. get dipped in dirt." She huffed.
When Hana was alarmed at the price of the Firebolt, Eonaria reassured her that she had plenty of time to build up her savings. Hana thanked her, professing her desire to be a good Quidditch player and have a Firebolt in the future. Then Hana asked Eonaria if she had any goals. Surprised, Eonaria paused to think about that for a moment. "I haven't thought about it too much, but I think I would like to work with magical creatures, but not at the Ministry's department for the Control and Regulation of Magical Creatures. I wouldn't want to have to deal with really dangerous ones, or have to kill creatures. Maybe I will have a petting zoo." Eonaria chuckled. "Though, that's not a very good way to earn money, unless I have unicorns and hippogriffs that people would really want to see. But I just want to do something that makes me happy. I might even want to teach at Hogwarts! I really love Herbology and Charms. What about you, Hana? Is there a specific class that you like at Hogwarts?"

Hana mentioned the zip-line activity in the muggle world to Eonaria, Eonaria said that it sounds interesting and scary and asked Hana something about 'hand gliding' and 'parachuting'. Hana replied, 'I never tried 'hand gliding' or 'parachuting' but I know it is way scarier than the zip-line because zip-line have a track where you know where are you going but those activities don't really have a track so you actually have no idea where are you going. Yea, I do think it is way scarier, a trillion times scarier that Quidditch. But I hope I can overcome my fear and try it in the future... although I don't really think I will cuz... um, just no.
Eonaria asked Hana about the brooms in fairytales previously and Hana answered them as boring and normal. Then, Eonaria exclaimed that muggles don't have the understanding of brooms, Hana nodding her head and responded, 'Well, because they are muggles, so they don't really know what brooms can do except for sweeping and cleaning. For me, I grew up in the muggle world, I never knew that brooms can fly in real life and even have a profession for it. I know I acted like stupid as a half-blood witch but blame my dad for not telling me, he actually never tell me that he's a wizard until I got my Hogwarts acceptance, which I scratched my head cuz I thought it was a scam. Okay, enough of that, back to our conversation. Where are we up to, right the Nimbus 2000 sweeping the floor. Nimbus 2000 cleaning the floor! No! I could never imagine someone not a Quidditch player holding a Nimbus 2000 and sweep the floor! That will be ridiculous! If I have the Nimbus, I will definitely give it a try to clean the floor. Um... maybe not, cuz I think it will break the fancy broomstick.'
After Hana asked Eonaria her goals, Eonaria told Hana that she wanted to work with magical creatures and that she love Herbology and Charms. Hana answered, 'Indeed, magical creatures may be fun to work with, but dangerous creatures, I don't think it will be fun. I love Potions at Hogwarts, because it's very interesting to stir the magical ingredients in a big cauldron. But, I got an E for my potions homework... I think I will improve over time.'

When Eonaria asked Hana about these odd activities that Muggles sometimes do, Hana explained that she had never done those scary things where you hang in the air with no track, and she likely never would in the future. "Yeah, they sound really unsafe!" Eonaria shuddered. "Muggles have such strange ideas. Better stick to the brooms."
Then when Eonaria commented on the brooms in Muggle fairy tales, Hana told her about growing up in the Muggle world, where she had no idea brooms could be used for anything other than sweeping, despite being a half-blood. "Wow, that's..." Eonaria wanted to say weird, but she decided against it. "...interesting. Did you ever ask your dad why he never told you about magic? That should be, like, the first thing you learn. And he never did magic around you? Or, is your mother the magical parent?" Eonaria paused, contemplating multiple theories. Then she smiled when Hana began talking about Potions class.
"You know, an E is still a good grade! I'm sure you will do great in the future. And yeah, I don't plan on working with dangerous creatures. Too risky!" She chuckled. "And if I ever got bitten, I probably wouldn't know what to do. I'd just start screaming or something. You know, do I have to learn healing to become an expert in magical creatures...? Probably. Oh, and I love Potions too! It's really fun to make concoctions, though measuring out specific amounts of ingredients is very finicky... I always worry that I'll add just a bit too much. I'm not always the most careful person, you know." Eonaria grinned. "By the way, have you finished getting all your school stuff?"

Sorry for the very very late reply, I don't have time to do long RP replies recently.
Eonaria shuddered and said that muggles have strange ideas. Hana replied, 'Yea, muggles do have some weird ideas that are very dangerous, I don't even know why muggle enjoy doing those activities, they could die anytime.'
After Hana told Eonaria about the fairytale brooms, Eonaria asked Hana about her family. 'Really, no, my dad never told me about magic stuff, but whenever I said that I want to become the witch in the books, my dad will grin mysteriously. I bet he was thinking "Look at this girl, how ridiculous she is. Myabe I won't tell her the truth now so I can hear more ridiculous things from her." I mean, that's probably why he never tells me that I am a witch. No, my mom is not a witch, she is a muggle, her whole family blood line is muggle-born. To be honest, I think the worst out of my family is my brother, Yukinari Suzuki, he went to Mahoutokoro, when I asked him why did he go back to Japan, he said," Um.. I'm studying there, just doing NORMAL study, don't worry.' He lied to me, I hate him. But whatever, I know the truth now so it doesn't really matter unless they start to make fun of me again.'
They started to talk about subjects in school and Hana told Eonaria that she got an E for Potions. However, Eonaria told Hana E is not a bad score which makes Hana felt better. Hana answered, 'Thanks, Eonaria, I'm not that frustrated anymore. You're right, E is not that bad, at least it's better that T. I also agree that you shoudln't deal with dangerous creatures, it's too dangerous, what if you die, that's bad! I'm also not sure whether you need to learn healing but I think being a healer would be nice too, it's like a doctor in the muggle-world. Getting my school stuff? I think I got all my school stuff, but just let me double check incase I forgot something.'
