Group Twelve: Tricks, Treats and Tales
@Bailey Glade, @Aly Salinger, @Haven Bohannon, @Hades Schweighöfer, @Evelynn Decipio
This is a group thread for the errand, Tricks, Treats and Tales. Feel free to reference the errand page for any information, and feel free to owl me if you have any questions.
It was the 30th of October, and all throughout the grounds, small fire pits sent smoke into the crisp autumn air. Each pit would have a small group of four to six students that got to socialise, have sweets, make s'mores, tell scary stories... really, whatever their hearts desired. If some of them came wearing a scary costume and others came wearing a bedsheet to be a ghost, the better for them.
Ingredients for s'mores (graham crackers, marshmallows, chocolates and skewers) were laid on a small table at each fire pit. Small logs provided seating for the students, larger logs for the older students and smaller logs for the younger ones. Multicoloured leaves, the warm shades of which could be seen in the firelight, dapped the floor with colours almost like a rug. The point of it all was to be cosy, to be fun, and perhaps a night full of colours and giggles and firelight would get the job done.
To ensure everyone remained safe, and if they did burn themselves, to provide a quick healing spell, Koko, a seventh-year prefect, stood off to the side in the shadows. She was not particularly well-hidden: her light-coloured hair reflected the light easily, making it so that even as she tried not to be a distraction from the event, if she was needed, she could be swiftly located. A silver mackerel tabby sat at her feet, content with the general atmosphere around him. She could only hope that the students would enjoy this, too.
OOC: What to do.
Write at least one post of your character being present at the event. Hopefully, they are enjoying things, but some teenagers are moody.
Your total word count (all posts combined) must be at least 600 words, but you can absolutely write more than one post, or more than 600 words. Please do remember to write at least 200 words per post per site rules!
Upon completion of your 600 posts, please provide your total word count and link your thread your sign-up post in the errand thread here.
Once again, I hope you have fun! Feel free to owl me if you have any questions at all.

T’was the night before Halloween… and Bailey had decided to leave a note for her Kim.
Kim, upon the return to school, had been seeming more himself. More like his old self, the one who would laugh and smile and generally was happy. The return of Kim’s smile had wanted baileys heart, and she had felt her heart fluttering more often than it had in a long while, or possibly ever.
It’s true, Kim had always had the ability to make her blush, but this year… this year was different. Bailey could just feel it! She had hope for what the school year might hold, for her, for Kim, and for them together.
Sitting at her desk, Bailey took out a piece of paper and a pen. Biting the inside of her cheek, she debated how to start the letter.
Deciding to do something to remind both her and Kim of the old days, when they were in the beginning days of their friendship, when they were simply owl pals.
Putting pen to paper, she began:
Oct 30th, 10 AM
Dearest Kim,
Hello! I thought I would bring back some memories… us as quill pals, years ago! That seems like forever ago… how many years was it? I think I was a second year and you were a first… crazy to think I’m a year older. I have a feeling you’d protect me … but age is simply a number.
Anyways, I’m writing you this owl to ask if you want to come to the Trick, Treat, and Tales errand with me? I’m planning on going… and I think it would be fun if you came too!
I like telling stories well enough, and it would be nice to spend some time with you too. Of course we could always hang out, just the two of us, if you want. But the errand will be fun too!
Anyways, going to let this dry, change and head to class. Hoping I’ll see you at the errand this evening!
All my love,
Bailey
After changing quickly Bailey ran down the stairs of the common room, and headed out into the corridors. She made her way quickly to the entrance to the Gryffindor common room, where she waited for someone to open the door. When someone did, she quickly cast a spell “wingsrdiim levosa” and guided the letter inside.
As the door swung shut she let the spell go, and watched as the letter fell to the floor.
She had signed the outside simply with a “B”, in the top left corner. The letter also was embossed with a cursive Kim in the bottom right corner.
Sure that this letter would start rumors, Bailey decided she really didn’t care as long as Kim came.
Crossing her fingers that he would come, and that the letter would get to him, Bailey made her way to class.
Later that evening, after finishing her dinner, Bailey made her way to her dorm to change again. Letting her hair down, she made up her mind.
Deciding she wanted to color her hair, she also pulled out her wand. Casting a quick “Crinus Muto" her hair turned dark Ebony black.
She was going as Carmen Sandiego, for Halloween, and decided she might as well go all the way. Plus, she’d like to know what Kim’s reaction would be. She was secretly hoping that he’d say something about her natural hair suiting her more.
Pulling on a black skin tight shirt, black pants, her favorite black platform boots, a red trench coat, and a large red hat, Bailey stuck her wand in the pocket of her leggings alongside the outside of her left leg.
Heading down the stairs, Bailey made her way into the grounds, where the event was being held. Entering, she saw that she was one of the first people to arrive. Scattered all around were firepits, with small fires popping and sparkling. Going over to a fire pit, bailey saw that there were all of the ingredients for smores. A grin excitedly making its way onto her face, she picked up a skewer and a marshmallow, she stabbed the marshmallow with the skewer and settled down in a crouch to start toasting her marshmallow to a gentle golden brown.
Bailey was content here, waiting for someone to show up - a friend she had known for some time, or someone new, who she hoped would quickly become a friend as well.

Upon arriving to her group, Aly was relieved to find that she was not the last person there; in fact, there was only one other girl at the fire, a fellow Ravenclaw that Aly only sort of recognised as being in the year below her. Despite her eagle affiliation, she was clad in all Lion scarlet with dark hair that Aly was pretty sure she didn't normally sport; that much was understandable, given the costume dress code. The elder Ravenclaw herself had dressed the part, too, in all black with shadowed dark liner smeared around her pale green eyes; a single crescent moon charm dangled from her forehead, tangled into intricately braided locks of hair that by now were beginning to fall just past her waist. Was she a sprite, a dark fae of some sort, or was she the shadowy embodiment of the moon herself in the night sky? Even Aly couldn't have quite explained it, but she took the seat opposite the younger girl across the fire with a small smile.
"Hope you don't mind if I join you," she called across the crackling warmth of the orange flames, reaching up to collect some chocolate and marshmallows from a nearby table. Aly had never made s'mores before, being rather sheltered from Muggle culture, but she took a nibble from the corner of a chocolate square nevertheless, proud to enjoy the raw ingredients just as they were. "It's sort of empty so far, eh? I feel like it'll get a lot less spooky once more people start to show up." She ran her tongue over her front teeth before giving the girl a grin, so as to avoid a chocolate-smeared smile. "I'm Aly, by the way. You look familiar..."

Group Twelve: Tricks, Treats and Tales

"Come on, Marcus, there's some s'mores calling our name!" Haven called out to the little pom-pom before snatching him off his bed. She had already put him in his costume earlier, and the poor thing was just trying to take a nap before Haven came Havening by. For some, October and Halloween meant couples' costumes. For Haven and her pygmy puff, it was the same idea.
"What do you think? Do I look just like you?" She pet his little wig. "I think we look stunning."
Haven smoothed down some of the fluff of her costume. She loved how fluffy Marcus was, but she was discovering that it was a bit difficult to be so poofy. Maybe Marcus would appreciate a haircut. But the more she thought about it, she realized that Marcus would probably not appreciate a haircut from her.
It only took a few steps before Haven realized she was forgetting something, bolting back across the common room back to her dormitory, Marcus yelling at her as she ran. But he was fine, she had a tight grip on him. He wasn't going anywhere. And she wasn't going anywhere without the rest of her costume. She couldn't believe how silly she was, nearly leaving one of the most important pieces of her costume behind! She placed the little ears headband on her head, nodding once she was sure they wouldn't come off. Now Haven's costume was complete. Hopefully now people could tell what she was.
Her costume was large, round, fuzzy, and purple, complete with a headband with little tan felt ears. If they were having trouble figuring out who she was, maybe Marcus' costume would be of help: a little reddish wig and a yellow tube she managed to wrestle him into. Haven was Marcus, and Marcus was Haven.
Finally ready, Haven made her way to the grounds, Marcus in tow. She was so excited- it was so autumnal and spooky outside, and it looks like there were lots of people dressed up, too! She skipped her way towards a fire pit before something on the little table caught her eye...
"S'MORES!" She yelled, heading straight for a marshmallow and shoving it in her mouth. This night just got so much better. Well, she had known there were going to be s'mores, but it was different from actually having them. Even just a marshmallow improved her day.
She grabbed all the things she needed for her s'more before taking a seat at one of the logs, looking around to see who was there.
"Aly!" she said upon seeing the girl, her mouth still full of marshmallow. Haven chewed as quickly as she could. People already generally didn't like it when she talked, so it was probably best not to make it worse by having a marshmallow in her mouth. Or maybe they'd like it better, because then they'd have an excuse for not understanding her. She didn't think she had that much of an accent, nevermind that she talked a mile a minute.
"It's been sooo long since I've seen you. You'd really think that we'd run into each other more often, but I don't know why we haven't done more together. Maybe we need to plan something. But hey, we'e doing this now! And they have s'mores! Do you think pygmy puffs can have s'mores?" She carefully examined Marcus as she set him down on the log next to her, trying to determine if it looked like he could have a s'more. "Either way, I'm sure he'll have a great time." She finally took a breath, now looking to the other girl. She looked familiar- maybe the year under her?- but couldn't put a name to the face.
"Hi, I'm Haven. This is Marcus," she gestured over to the pygmy puff. "Or wait, maybe I should have introduced myself as Marcus... and him as Haven... since we're dressed up as each other." Haven frowned a bit, trying to figure it out, before shrugging and turning her attention to her marshmallow as she skewered it. "I just love s'mores, don't you?"
