Potion | Murtlap Essence
Ingredients required | Honey, Murtlap Tentacles, Graphorn Horn, Dried Nettles

Reducio
Della was hitting the ground running this school year—or should we say hitting the ground flying? She knew that in order to remain competitive in broom racing this year, she would need to have more tricks up her sleep. So she found herself in the potions classroom. First up was Murtlap Essense: great for healing a lot of things creatures and other racers throw at you.
First Della pointed her wand at her cauldron, whispering "Glacius," and making her cauldron cold. She then measured out three drops of honey, letting it pool in the bottom of the cauldron. She turned on the heat, keeping it low so that the honey would simmer but not burn. After it seemed sufficiently warm, she sprinkled in one measure of dried nettles, stirring them in, moving clockwise three times. She removed her bundle of murtlap tentacles, trying to not grimace as she chopped twelve of them up and added them to the cauldron (it was sometimes difficult for her to reckon with the use of magical creature parts in potions—but it was necessary). She let the mixture simmer for twenty-five minutes, setting her timer carefully, and turned her attention to the graphorn horn (hopefully its owner was still living). She ground it to a fine powder. When the timer rang, she added one measure of the powder to her cauldron, stirring counter-clockwise once immediately after. She set the timer again—this time for ten minutes—and began organizing her ingredients for the next potion. As soon as the timer rang, she waved her wand over the mixture, checking to make sure the potion looked correct. Once confirmed, she bottled her murtlap essence into three little bottles.

Potion | Revive Potion
Ingredients required | Murtlap Tentacles, Spines of Lionfish, Salt, Essence of Wormwood, Dittany
Word Count: 234
Reducio
Next up was the revive potion: Broom racers often dropped from the skies like dead flies, but usually they weren't dead, just in need of a little wake-up call. She cleaned out her cauldron, making sure there was not a single drop of murtlap essence left.
Della started the revive potion by filling the cauldron with water. She chopped up three more of her murtlap tentacles—it was unruly how many of these she needed today. She added them to the cauldron and once again applied heat, setting a timer for five minutes. From her ingredient bag, she removed three spines, each derived from a lionfish (she was now considering that being a potion master would not be in the cards for a future career path), and she quickly ground them down. After the timer rang, she added all of the coarse powder to now-boiled murtlap tentacles. Next, she added two measures of salt (the mixture resembled a seafood stew more than anything else at this point), stirring clockwise three times—she tried hard to not take in the sealike aroma coming from the cauldron. Then she added five drops of wormwood essence, followed by one sprig of dittany, and finally, stirring five times counter-clockwise. With a wave of her wand, the potion calmed its ocean smell and resembled what she knew a revive potion should look like. She added the potion to four little vials.

Potion | Bruise Removal Paste
Ingredients required | Murtlap Tentacles, Honey, Bubotuber Pus, Seashells, Flobberworm Mucus
Word Count: 418
Reducio
Last broom racing potion! The bruise-removal paste was probably the most useful—Della was always covered in bruises after each game. A player's body can only handle so much knocking about before they lose consciousness, so the bruise-removal paste was a great defense from needing to use the revive potion.
She cleaned her cauldron carefully again. This time the cauldron would need to start hot. She set a timer for ten minutes while the cauldron was over a flame. She collected her ingredients: three more murtlap tentacles (this time at least she didn't need to chop them), her jar of honey, a vial of bubotuber puss, six colorful seashells, and another vial of flobberworm mucus. She unfortunately finely crushed the seashells. When the timer rang, she added the tentacles and the entire jar of honey, which was painfully slow getting itself into the cauldron. She stirred clockwise five times, this time quadruple-checking the recipe because all of the counting stirs and measures at this point was messing with her head. She removed the cauldron from the fire, and put on some gloves just in case the bubotuber puss got messy. She measured out two portions of the puss, stirring four times—no wait, only three times counter-clockwise (she was able to stop herself before that fateful fourth stir). She moved the cauldron back to the flame, not enjoying the site of the tentacles and puss inside, and waved her wand, hoping it would make the appearance more agreeable. She turned down the heat and set her timer for a whopping hour.
Della removed her gloves and laid down on the cold stones of the potions classroom, wondering what possessed her to work this hard for broom racing. Hopefully, no one would walk in during this episode. She may or may not have dozed off, but the timer promptly caused her to sit upright. Okay, well rested, and back to work!
She put three pinches of the seashell powder into the mixture (only three pinches! why did she have to crush so many shells?) and also added two carefully measured portions of the flobberworm mucus to the cauldron. Then she began stirring and stirring and stirring—oh no, had something gone wrong—oh, wait, the potion was coming together. There! A paste had formed. Once again, she waved her wand and removed it from the heat. After she was finished with her final potion of the day, the paste should be properly cooled and she would put the paste into four little jars.

Potion | Pet Tonic
Ingredients required | Aloe Vera, Murtlap Tentacles, Salamander Blood, Scurvy Grass, Dried Nettles
Word Count: 317
Reducio
The last potion of this now over-drawn potion-making session was not sport-related. This one was more special. Della wanted to brew a pet tonic; she would save most of the doses for in case anything befell her own pet, Greta, but she would reserve one dose for Professor Blumenthal. She hoped the offering would secure her a spot as one of the Care of Magical Creatures interns. She was glad she was able to take a nap before brewing this one.
She borrowed another cauldron from the classroom supplies, since her bruise-healing paste was still cooling in hers, (oh yay! she would have two cauldrons to clean! she should enter a cauldron-cleaning competition at this point!) and she put that cauldron on a medium-sized flame. She removed her aloe vera leaves, counting out twelve. She sliced each one longways, and the aloe began to seep out. She carefully put each leaf in the cauldron. This next part also disturbed her quite a bit: Della tried not to imagine the process of collecting salamander blood. She had only needed to buy eight ounces, but that was eight ounces too many for her. She poured the blood over the leaves in a clockwise fashion until all the leaves were covered. She then threw a dash of dried nettles over that. She set a timer for two minutes and went back to her favorite hobby (ugh) of chopping murtlap tentacles: her last three bunches were now obliterated. She paired the tentacles with her scurvy grass and added them to the mixture when the timer went off. Now here was the test of stamina and concentration: She needed to stir clockwise every two minutes twenty-three times. Using her timer and a quill and parchment to tally stirs, she accomplished the task approximately three-quarters of an hour later. She completed her last potion wand wave and poured the tonic into four vials.

Her mother had been highly suspicious when Dee had locked herself into Alexandra's potions lab with strict instructions to not disturb her during the first new moon of summer break, but Dee was rather certain she'd seen a small spark of pride in her mother's eyes. Perhaps even the hint of a smile?
All alone and undisturbed, Dee had plenty of time to be bored while she watched the ethanol, sage, and red pepper flesh brewing in her mother's copper cauldron. It was steaming slightly, she'd carefully regulated the temperature to be low enough to keep the alcohol from boiling, but high enough that some of the liquid was rising into the air in lazy swirls. The dog of tongue was already scored and she'd set it to chill while she waited. It also left her plenty of time to obsess over the rest of the recipe.
A pinch of sulphur was the next step, after three hours of waiting. It was followed by the complex sequence of stirring clockwise sixteen times, while exhaling in a very specific pattern - she was getting a little dizzy by the end of it, since she couldn't inhale even once during the process. She'd practiced it, though (obsessively), so it went rather smoothly, and she was able to transfer the mixure into the container she had prepared with a mixed sense of relief and impatience. Once she'd sealed it with the tongue of dog inside and waved her wand, it would take an entire lunar month for her to be able to complete it.
She snuck out of her tent at summer camp a month later to do exactly that, a sense of dread in her stomach as she tiptoed out, attempting to not wake any of her tentmates. They were an annoyingly observant bunch at times. But then... she'd recently decided that perhaps this group of people had too many secrets, anyway.
She set up her pewter cauldron on a portable fireplace in a secluded corner of the grounds, mixing the carefully chosen wine with the lethe river water and heating them up. It took the better part of an hour before she could perform the by far most disgusting step of the recipe: Opening the container that had been sealed for more than four weeks, holding her breath as she strained the contents into the cauldron through a fine sieve, making sure that only the liquid made its way into the potion. The rest got vanished immediately; she wasn't keen on smelling the pickled dog tongue.
The next two hours were torture. Alone in the dark with her thoughts, wishing she could get it over with while at the same time dreading the moment she could finish the brew. She'd had plenty of time to think about what the last ingredient was, and she had spent hours on it, but they hadn't really been necessary. She'd always known what the secret was.
There was a tight sense of panic in her chest, squeezing her lungs and radiating out to her fingertips when she was finally unable to deny that the last remainer of colour had disappeared from the potion, leaving it translucent and colourless. The fire was quickly extinguished, and she tried to take a deep breath to steel herself, but was unable to draw in more than a shallow gasp. Swallowing, she bent over the potion, and the words, when they came, were barely audible. "He's gone because of me."
Dee backed away quickly after that, biting her lip, and wiping a sleeve across her face to keep the tears from blurring her vision. Breathing hurt, but she waved her wand across the potion; no sense in spoiling it after she'd gone through all the trouble. The only part that was usable was the top layer, which she carefully skimmed off with her ladle. That was the Veritaserum; carefully bottled.
She went through the motions of cleaning up methodically, tears still streaming down her face, and only released the tight grip on her sobs later, tucked back into her bedroll, her tent mates sleeping peacefully around her.

Alyssea headed into the Potions classroom with a plan. Not a very precise plan, but a plan nonetheless. She had recently become a healing intern and figured it was time to brush up on healing potions. If she understood the process behind making them, surely it would make her better at administering them? Then again, as a Quidditch player, there was a chance Bruise Removal Paste would be handy to have after training sessions.
Her roommate, Irina, wanted to come watch and help. Not one to turn away company, Alyssea brought her along and set one clear boundary: if she were to touch anything, ingredients, cauldron, or whatever, Alyssea would make her leave. Considering Irina was only in First year, anything that went wrong would cost Alyssea too much time and money.
She set her cauldron on medium heat flame and set off her mechanical stopwatch for ten minutes. In that time, she had Irina sit down and prepare some ingredients for later. Specifically, Alyssea had Irina prepare two fluid ounces of the Bubotuber pus (explaining that took two minutes off the clock), two measures of Flobberworm mucus, and crush six of the seashells into a fine powder. The rest didn't need any other special methods of preparation.
Once ten minutes went up, Alyssea added three Murtlap tentacles and a jar of honey to the cauldron before mixing it altogether. She took a brief look at her potion recipe book to check which way she had to stir it; clockwise, five times. Alyssea hummed as the mixed and then took it off the fire, asking Irina to put in the Bubotuber pus she had just measured. Then, she stirred it again, this time in the opposite direction (counter-clockwise) and only three times.
Alyssea put the cauldron back onto the fire and picked up her aspen wand to wave it. Once she adjusted the heat from medium to low, it was time to set the stopwatch for sixty minutes, or one hour, again. At least it was free time before dinner; they had plenty of time to chat about how the new year was going.
When the stopwatch went off, Alyssea took the powder of crushes seashells and added three pinches of that plus the two measures of Flobberworm mucus Irina made earlier to the cauldron. Wanting to give Irina a chance at the potion-making, she strictly instructed the girl to stir clockwise while Alyssea turned up the heat, making sure Irina knew to stop when it became a thick paste.
When that callout came, Alyssea had Irina step back and she picked up her aspen wand again to wave it once more. Then, she turned off the heat to let it cool. They would need to put it into a jar once it wasn't hot enough to shatter glass.

Reduciothe day after making bruise removal paste
As a multitasker, Alyssea wanted to get the Murtlap Essence done the same day she did the Bruise Removal Paste, but her cauldron needed to be cold before starting the Murtlap Essence and she wasn't entirely sure how to cool down her cauldron without first freezing it and then waiting for the ice to melt. So, she just left it for the next day. This time, Alyssea didn't bring Irina. It wasn't because Irina did a terrible job yesterday, but that Alyssea preferred to do this one alone. It wasn't a particularly time-consuming potion to make so she didn't exactly need company this time around.
The cauldron was cold (hooray!) after a day sitting idle, so Alyssea started with her ingredients. Three measures of honey and putting the cauldron on a low simmering heat, she prepared one measure of dried nettles and coarsely chopped the twelve Murtlap tentacles. The dried nettles went in first, with Alyssea stirring the mixture clockwise three times, taking her time and relaxing into the motions. Soon after, she added the Murtlap tentacles into the cauldron and set her stopwatch for twenty-five minutes. The only thing left to prepare was a measure of ground Graphorn horn, so she did just that and waited for the clock to go off before she added it and stirred once anti-clockwise.
It was another ten minutes of waiting before she could wave her wand over the cauldron and finish it. But once she finished waiting and bottled the mixture into her vial, she sighed in relief.

Potion | Pepperup Potion
Ingredients required | 3 Measures of Honey, 1 Horn of Bicorn, 3 Murtlap Tentacles, 1 Drop of Murtlap Essence, 1 Graphorn Horn, 1 Sliced Mandrake Root, 1 Measure of Limpet, 1 Pinch of Hemlock, 2 Measures of Dried Nettles
Roleplay (200 words min) |
ReducioPericles was never much a fan of Pepperup potions. His mother always seemed to have a batch on hand the second he started to sneeze, ready to banish colds before they could fully manifest. Yet it worked, and as much as he didn't care for the flavor or having steaming ears, she had impressed upon him that it was an essential item in the average wix's medicine cabinet.
He began by prepping a standard Size III cauldron, counting in three measures of honey before setting the heat to medium. A full horn of bicorn followed. While he waited for the blend to warm, Peri idly flicked through the potion recipes, holding his spot with a thumb. Seven minutes later he went back to the directions and waved his wand above the brew. He counted in three murtlap tentacles with a pair of tongs, then followed it with a drop of premade Murtlap Essence. The steam rising up in response to the addition told him the mix was headed in the right direction. After easing in one graphorn horn, he went back to browsing through the book.
As before, after seven minutes, he waved his wand over the cauldron. Peri double-checked that the door was locked- didn't want anyone walking in and getting stunned- then put on a pair of blue earmuffs. He unpotted a mandrake with a hard wrench and set it aside on his prep table. Peri grimaced as it wailed, patting the thing in hopes it would somehow quiet quicker. Once it was silent he got right to the point of cutting it into fine slices. The root was scraped from cutting board to cauldron, followed by a measure of limpet and one pinch of hemlock. The mix was finished off with two measure of dry nettles. One last wand wave over the top, and from the color (plus all too familiar smell), he determined it was complete.

ReducioWith a friend in each sport, each exceedingly skilled at accruing random injuries, Pericles made up his mind that everyone was getting bruise paste for Christmas. He readied a cauldron over a medium flame and timed ten minutes. Once it was fully preheated, he added in three murtlap tentacles, following promptly with an entire jar of honey before they could burn. Peri counted out five clockwise stirs before moving the cauldron off of the heat. He measured in two fluid ounces of bubotuber pus, gave the gross blend three counter-clockwise stirs, then returned it over the fire. He waved his wand to give it a spark of magic, then lowered the heat to a light simmer. Pericles cranked an egg timer to one hour. He burnt the first five minutes by crushing six seashells into fine powder, using a mortal and pestle to grind it. He then settled onto a nearby lounge and dozed off while reading. Luckily, the chime of the timer woke him, and he quickly moved to add three pinches of powdered seashell to the cauldron. He followed with two measures of flobberworm mucus, then started stirring it clockwise over the heat. Once it thickened into a paste-like consistency, Peri waved his wand and put out the heat, letting the stuff cool in the cauldron while he readied a few air-tight jars. He carefully ladled the paste into them and finished the gifts with twine bows.

Aly Salinger may have gotten a bit better at cheating and rule-breaking over the last year and change, but she, for the most part, had kept within the Hogwarts boundaries. Sure, there had been a foul or two in Quidditch; she'd snuck into the Forbidden Forest; she'd even taken Floating Potion on the grounds and very nearly floated away. Still, this was certainly going to be the top of the list when it came to "reasons Aly could get detention": brewing a potion in her dormitory.
Well, maybe it was allowed, but she certainly had no idea. Whether it was legal or not, the Ravenclaw was not about to brew this particular draft in the classroom where anyone could come round and spot what she was doing. That would most certainly lead to all sorts of pestering questions, which was the last thing Aly needed right now.
Staring down at the preheated-to-medium-low heat source and the cauldron above it, which she had managed to set up in the corner of the Martial dormitory, far away from the beds with a curtain drawn around her to hide her semi-illegal activities from the rest of the Ravenclaws who lived there, lest any wander in now during this lunch hour... Aly couldn't help but wonder why in Merlin's name she'd decided to do this. But it was necessary, wasn't it? She'd never felt this way, or at least, not in a long time. And this one felt different, somehow. I have to make sure it's real.
And so the Ravenclaw reached for her mortar and pestle, adding in two Graphorn horns and a single Unicorn horn, which barely fit in the tiny stone bowl. With soft music playing in the background - she'd borrowed a gramophone, just in case the sounds of scraping and grinding and bubbling clued anyone in to what she was doing behind the curtain - Aly took the pestle in her stronger hand and ground the horns into a fine dust, rhythmically, almost zoning out as she did so. That was a habit lately - the thinking too much. Just another clue, for her, to the realisation that something was off, and needed to be fixed.
A knife made its way into her hand, a small paring blade, and she absent-mindedly scored a sloth brain with it in a checkerboard pattern, then another, nicking her finger slightly on the last one, though luckily it didn't draw any blood. The brains went into the cauldron on its medium low setting, and she seared them with ease, a salty smell easing into the air surrounding her. Though sloth brains were nowhere near her luncheon of choice, Aly's stomach rumbled - another reminder that she was missing lunch for this.
"It'll be worth it to know," she mumbled, repetitively, to herself, almost as a mantra to calm her groaning insides. "It'll be worth it to know, I swear."
Sloth brains turned as brown as the flobberworm fritters the Ravenclaw was almost certainly missing for lunch today, and when they were seared to perfection, Aly uncapped her ten-ounce bottle of salamander blood - purchased in Diagon Alley before returning to school following the summer camp in London - and poured the entire contents, viscous red and iron-smelling, into the cauldron. Moving a wooden spoon into her left hand, Aly began to stir slowly - trying to make it feel normal, since she was so used to only operating with her right - and used her stronger, normal hand to move the pestle out of the previously used mortar. Now for the hard part.
Then, taking the mortar also in her right hand, she poured the finely-ground powder of two horns into the cauldron whilst still maintaining her slow, repetitive stirring with her left. She wasn't quite so used to this sort of ambidextrous movement, and nearly dropped the whole mortar into the cauldron - but luckily, Seeker reflexes kicked in at the last second and she managed to drop it on the floor instead with a loud clang. Thank Merlin all the powder was out already, or that would've been a horrendous waste, it occurred to Aly as she stirred until all of the powder had vanished into the reddish-orange mixture. Taking her aspenwood wand from where it lay on the table, Aly waved it over the cauldron, then looked at a clock nearby, mentally noting the time and kicking herself for having chosen to brew this during the lunch hour. Well, I may be late to Charms, but at least I'll be able to swing by the Great Hall and grab a quick lunch while this is brewing.
Exactly sixty minutes ticked by on the clock, and by the time the three thousandth, six hundredth tick of the second hand occurred, Aly was back from lunch with a decidedly more full stomach and ready to continue on with the second part of her potion. Luckily, it appeared to have remained undisturbed during her absence - a perk for brewing during the lunch break after all, it seemed - and Aly heaved a sigh of relief as she added a tablespoonful of frog spawn to the cauldron, then another. A dash of hellebore syrup completed the addition of her ingredients, and Aly turned the heat from medium-low to low, noting again the time on the timer. Thirty minutes now. Yes, she was definitely going to be late to Charms.
As a half-hour passed, Aly put away all of the remaining ingredients in her trunk at the foot of her bed and even read through the Charms essay she'd had due today in class, wondering if it was even worth it to attend the lesson now that she was so late. One would think a N.E.W.T. student would have had a higher regard for her learning, but Aly's mind was oft more preoccupied with other people - sorry, other things, she was more preoccupied with other things as of late. Still, when the thirty minutes had ended, Aly again waved her wand over the cauldron and took it off the fire, pouring it into several small bottles she had nearby.
A successfully brewed Love Potion Antidote sat in front of her.
Well, at least, Aly wouldn't know if it was successful until she took it. After all, these feelings - the flutterings of her heart in her chest, the flushings of her cheeks so scarlet, the freaking-outs of her mind whenever she was nearby - well, they couldn't be normal, could they? They couldn't be real. And as soon as Aly took the Love Potion Antidote, she would know for sure if she was in love.
For her own sake, she hoped she was.

It wasn't that Briar was in need of any assistance in the potions department, Fabian was well aware of his son's grades and his proficiency in the subject. It wasn't even that Fabian needed to brew a potion, he could very well get as many as he desired from his colleague's storeroom with just a simple ask. It wasn't that he particularly needed any burn healing paste, his students were rarely burnt and an Episkey was as good as anything.
It wasn't out of necessity, it was an offering of love when he asked Briar to help him set up his cauldron to make a potion.
"I have not made this potion in a very long time, so you will have to give me a refresher," he told Briar as he set out the ingredients. He placed three murtlap tentacles in the cauldron. Briar, impatient of Fabian's slow chopping skills, ended up being the one to chop the seaweed finely as Fabian set up the rest of the necessary equipment that Briar had "missed," such as the mortar and pestle and the hourglass. Fabian, of course, was the one to crush four spoonfuls worth of seaweed and scoop the green paste into the cauldron, where he then stirred it thrice, clockwise, turned the heat up and waved his wand over it.
"And now we wait." The hourglass was for half an hour, and the two were able to discuss topics ranging from Briar's schooling and sports to Fabian's experiences with the arcane and ancient.
As soon as the last sand trickled through, Fabian extinguished the heat. Briar poured the jar of thick, sticky honey into the cauldron and stirred it twice clockwise. Fabian gave it a little heat. Briar held two measures of flobberworm mucus as far out in front of him as he could, counting down ten seconds aloud alongside Fabian before pouring it in. Then it was more waiting, occasionally stirring the slowly thickening paste. When it was ready, Fabian turned off the heat and placed a singular sprig of dittany on the cool mixture. Another round of waiting and talking as it dissipated. Then Fabian waved his wand over the paste once more before they scooped it into four containers. Potion secured, and family bonding a success.

Potion #1 (2024-25)
Encyclopedia Link | Splishy Splashy
Potion | Antidote to Uncommon Poisons
Ingredients required | 2 Fire Seeds, 3 Chizpurfle Carapaces, 2 Billywig Stings, 3 Measures of Powdered Graphorn Horn
Roleplay (429 Words):
ReducioTwo years into learning at Hogwarts and it only now just occurred to Emily how... Dangerous the ecosystem in the Wizarding World could get. With all her endless reading, researching and light glances in lieu of bedtime stories, the penny only just dropped on how very little precautions she actually took to prevent the odd creature bite or reaction here and there, just in the slightest off chance that would happen. Emily was thankfully never cursed with allergies - none that she was aware of any way, aside from that weird case of the rash she got after hiking in her local forest park that one time - but she didn't want to start now, especially if she was wanting to get up close and personal with creatures later on in her life that might be a tad gnarly.
And so on an uneventful afternoon, Emily was down in the Potions classroom, assembling her equipment and ingredients for a simple treatment to show she was at least prepared for the worst if she ever got herself in a tangle with the Wizarding World's wickedly wonderful wildlife. She thought wasp stings and rashes were a nuisance back home, but if any of the books she read told her anything, magical creatures would do a lot more than a mere boo-boo.
Her pestle and mortar at the ready, she took the two fire seeds she had and crushed them into pieces before adding them to her cauldron. Moving on to the Chizpurfle carapaces, she took all three of what she had and split them open before also adding them to her cauldron.
Once she had stirred the mixture anticlockwise five times, she added her two billywig stings to the mortar which she then used to crush them into a fine powder. After adding the now powdered billywig stings to her cauldron she stirred the mixture again twice, clockwise this time.
She waved her wand and set the heat to a low temperature, leaving it to brew for 40-60 minutes. It gave her time to count the number of vial toppers and bottle caps in the classroom... 147. 147 in total as it turned out. A lot fewer than she thought.
Once enough time had passed for the mixture to brew, she added her three measures of powdered graphorn horn to the cauldron, boiling it all on a high heat for 20 seconds before finally and carefully taking the cauldron off the flame.
With a final three stirs clockwise and a wave of her wand once again, her green brew was complete.

Potion | Antidote to Common Poisons
Ingredients Required | 1 Bezoar, 2 Measures of Standard Ingredient, 1 piece of Unicorn Horn, 2 Mistletoe Berries
Roleplay (326 Words) :
ReducioEmily was back again in the Potions classroom on another quiet afternoon. While it became apparent only just the other day that she needed to stock up on healing supplies, she then suddenly remembered how wasteful it would be to use a very powerful potion on mere bug stings and the like. Not to mention that she didn't want to fathom how strong the side effects would be, if any, if she tried to treat something as comparable to a wasp sting using effective salves and potions for everything opposite the intended purpose.
The only way to balance out her means of protection without overly cautious waste would be to have a generic healing tonic she could have on hand if the need arises, or at least have something to keep her life juice pumping at the bare minimum. The ol' antidote to common poisons seemed to be her best bet for that.
Her equipment at the ready and her ingredients gathered, all in an organised fashion, she got to work. Pestle and mortar on standby, she grabbed a bezoar and and crushed it into a fine powder with said utensils. She added four measures of the powdered bezoar to her cauldron before adding two measures of standard ingredient to the cauldron as well.
After heating it for five seconds on a medium temperature she waved her wand and left the brew to... Well, brew... for 30-40 minutes. In that time, she this time counted the pages in total between all the spare textbooks in the cupboard. approximately 2,400 pages. She nearly would've counted them all manually had she not remembered she was capable of arithmetic.
Back to the potion after nearly 40 minutes she added a pinch of unicorn horn to the cauldron and stirred twice clockwise, before adding two mistletoe berries to the mixture and stirring twice again, only anti-clockwise this time. With a final wave of her wand, the teal potion was complete.

Potion | Forgetfulness Potion
Ingredients required | Two Drops of Lethe River Water, Two Valerian Sprigs, Two Measures of Standard Ingredient, Four Mistletoe Berries
Roleplay (200 words min) | Karina, now a first-year student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, finally decided to start her very first attempt at brewing the Forgetfulness Potion. It was a certain potion used in making people forget their memories. It entailed precision in measurement, careful execution was necessary for it to effectively be produced.
I was preparing all sorts of ingredients according to my textbook and was making sure that the ingredients were all just right. The first step in this recipe was simmering Two Drops of Lethe River Water in a cauldron full of simmering water. I sprinkled Drops carefully into the cauldron, watching the water take on a faintly silvery hue as the potion got off to a good start.
Then, I stirred it clockwise three times, then counterclockwise twice, repeating this a number of times as I focused on not having a shaky hand or jitters in my head. The sweet aroma was wafting from the potion, and that is how I knew I was on track.
Add to this a sprig of Two Valerian Sprigs, Two Measures of Standard Ingredient, and Four Mistletoe Berries. Soon I rewarded myself with this sight: The potion started to bubble and glimmer, taking on a heavy, foamy consistency. Finally, remove the cauldron from the fire and let it cool completely, where the potion will set and reach full potency.
I allowed the potion to settle for a few moments, then carefully poured it into a vial, sealing it with a cork. The moment it sat in my hand, it felt as if pride and achievement suddenly pushed their way through my brain. I brewed my very first Forgetfulness Potion, the very same thing I was terrified of doing in the first place-which became reality through mere studiousness and careful practice.
It is with a firm grip on my potion that the future excites me toward all the possibilities lying ahead. Whatever adventures awaited me in Hogwarts, armed with knowledge and with such powerful potions, I knew this was only just the beginning of my magical journey.

Potion: Burn healing paste
ingredients required: 3 Murtlap Tentacles, 4 spoonfuls of crushed Seaweed, 1 Jar of Honey, 2 Measures of Flobberworm Mucus, 1 Sprig of Dittany
RP: Andy walked in the potion classroom with his cauldron and the stuff he needed to make the burn healing paste. He first got all of the ingredients. Honey... got that... ditanny... He checked out all of the stuff he had. He opened his book and looked at the first step. The step said to add the three murtlap tentecles. He added the slimy tentecle and then chopped the seaweed he had into small peices. Andy wasn't much of a cutter, so he had some small, and some big peices but then he evened them out. He then added the choped seaweed to the mortar and then crushed it until it formed a paste. He made sure to have 4 spoonfulls of the seaweed and then added it to the cauldron. He then stirred the liquid three times in a clockwise position.and waved the wand and let the potion brew for a half a hour and.he then turned the heat of completly. Then after the time passed by, Andy added the jar of honey. He might of ate a spoon full... or two... he then stirred the potion again clockwise but this time two times. Then, on low heat, he let the ten seconds pass by. He added the flobberworm mucus into the potion and almost threw up. He then heated and every once and a while he stirred the potion as it formed into a paste. He then turned off the heat, added the dittany, and waved his wand as he put the paste into a air tight jar he got from the pantry from the classroom. I hope those are free. Back in Perth, Scotland, you had to pay for everything! He then closed his book and with his cauldron and the paste, he went back to the common room.

Potion | Grand Pepperup Potions
Ingredients required | 1 Pepperup Potion, 1 Octopus Tentacle, 1 Mandrake, 1 Wartcap, 2 Measures of dried Boomslang Skin
Roleplay (200 words min) |
ReducioApproved, MéabhZach came back to the Potions Classroom as his regular healing magic learning. This time, he wanted to make a Grand Pepperup Potion after learning it deeper than what he had learnt in the class, with repetitive reading and more additional reading from the library. He entered the potions classroom as usual and began to do the preparation.
Zach took a Standard Size III Cauldron and put it on the table. He also took out a vial of Pepperup Potion from his satchel, the one that he brewed last year. The boy poured the red liquid into the cauldron and lit the fire into medium heat. His rubs his hands together to do the next step quickly. He took out an octopus and cut it lightly with a slick move like a chef in the television he had seen when he was home. The cut was so smooth, cutting a tentacle of the lifeless creature. He added it to the cauldron and quickly waved his wand over it. He took out his mechanical timer and set it for seven minutes.
While waiting for the timer to vibrate, he took out a container of sliced Mandrake root. Seeing the thing really wasn't really pleasing for him since he could imagine how he sliced the cute Mandrake’s baby. It was all visual in his head and almost made him cry again until the timer rang and vibrated loudly. He quickly put the root flesh into the cauldron, along with a pinch of Wartcap and two measures of dried Boomslang skin. When he saw the liquid inside the cauldron became dark red. Zach wasn't sure what the color of it was but it was indeed darker than the Pepperup Potion he had poured earlier. Then he waved his wand over the cauldron and put the potion into vials.

Potion | Revive Potions
Ingredients required | 3 Murtlap Tentacles, 3 Spines of Lionfish, 2 Measures of Salt, 5 drops of Essence of Wormwood, 1 Sprig of Dittany
Roleplay (200 words min) |
ReducioApproved, MéabhZach continued with the next potions. It is still a healing potion, part of his healing magic studies. “Revive Potions,” the boy mumbled the name of it weakly, almost silent. The steps of it was really short so Zach remembered it off the top of his head. After cleaning the mess he had earliee, he took out a bottle of purified water. Again, he learned how to purify the water from the library. He had purified some water the day before, a little bit too much water, he could say. He poured the water into the cauldron.
He then took out the most used ingredient that he bought for his studies, Murtlap Tentacles. He actually didn't know how Murtlap looked like. And he didn't care to know since it could make him into tears again like before. He chopped three Murtlap Tentacles and added them into cauldron. They were sunk inside the purified water. Zach set his mechanical timer again for five minutes.
While waiting for the timer to rang, the boy grindes three spines of lionfish into coarse powder. He grinded it while humming, singing his favorite song, Hoggy Warty Hogwarts. When the timer rang, he immediately put the powder into the cauldron. He also added two measures of salt with chef style. Again, he imitated it from the well-known chef in the muggle cooking program. He stirred the the liquid thrice clockwise before adding five drops of Essence of Wormwood. He also picked a sprig of Dittany and added it into the mixture. Stirring and stirring, this time it was five time counter-clockwise. Then he waved his wand over the cauldron and wait for it to cool down. “It's done!” he said while putting the complete potions into some vials. He walked out from the Potions classroom proudly after cleaning his second mess.
