Quidditch Slytherin vs Ravenclaw - Fall 2024

Maybe Mellani should not have looked at the Quidditch match as an excuse to not throw a birthday party, but she very much did look at it like that. Maybe, if they won, which they had been doing since Mellani had joined the team, she could throw a party, but she doubted that was going to happen. She hated social gatherings, and if nothing else, she could just cut a cake in her dorm, or invite Linda and her dormmates to somewhere private and cut a small cake.

Whatever be the case, Mellani decided it was time to concentrate on the game. Birthday plans could come later. She was determined to help not break the winning streak of the Slytherin team and win yet another match.

Whoever decided to have a Quidditch match in the pouring rain ought to be fired. Or at least, they should have to sit out here with the teams. Confined to the bench, Maeve pulled her robes tighter in an attempt to stay warm, but her nerves would've chilled her to the bone regardless. She had just barely made it onto the team in time for this match, with a last-minute drop opening up a spot for her as a Chaser. Even though she knew that the team spanned a wide range of talent and ability, she nonetheless felt wildly unprepared, unpracticed, and unconfident for the real thing.

Was she ready for her first match? "Not even in the slightest," Maeve replied with what she hoped was a brave smile, looking up at her teammates already taking to the skies. She simply hoped she wouldn't have to make a fool of herself in front of the whole school just quite yet.

Dan was not going to let the weather get to him. They had taken the cup last year, and this year would be no different.
Dan then was hit with a tinge of sadness. Not only would this be the first year he wouldn't have Erin on the team to brutalize his opponents, but this would also be the last year he would be able to play Quidditch with his team. A team he had really grown close to.
He'd been the Quidditch Captain ever since he started Hogwarts, from the moment Old Man Lear reopened it. The last of the Original Four. This, he knew, was what he wanted to do with his life. A Quidditch star. His aspiration was to play Seeker for the Irish Quidditch World League.
He was determined to make this last year a good one for Slytherin.

At the signal, he flew off with the rest of his team. He hoped his new broom would be agreeable... He'd certainly taken good enough care of it, and it certainly wasn't cheap.

He flew around with his team, waving at the spectators through the rain, before smirking and making a quick stop at Jorah Moussa.

"Mornin' Moussa! Still stiff are ya, ye piss-trousered langer ya?"
(Translation: Good morning, Moussa. Are you still stiff from petrification after you urinated upon yourself, you contemptible fool?)

Dan wiggled his wet, bare toes at Jorah to remind him of what else happened, and that no matter what happens here, Dan got one over on him worse.
Then, he spiraled back to his position with his team with the smuggest look on his face. He absolutely LOVED showing off in the air. He realized that while at Hogwarts, he spent almost as much time in the air as he did on the ground...

Regardless, now was the time to begin. This match would be Slytherin's.

In the role of Seeker you when you have found the snitch, if someone attempts to use Alley Oop to help you find the snitch, the disadvantage is cancelled out. However, with this broom you do not gain the +1 chance to grab the snitch for rounds that the Alley Oop is used. To clarify, each round someone attempts to grab a snitch they get a +1 to the attempt and this stacks. There is no bonus (or stack from this round's attempt to grab) to grabbing the snitch.

In the role of Seeker, if an opponent attempts to Bludger or Blatch you, there is a 20% chance that you veer out of the way the last second and another enemy player at RANDOM is targeted instead.

Note: The new target still gets their normal dodge attempt. This is not considered to be an auto-dodge, in fact this roll is done before any accuracy rolls are done.

In the role of Seeker, when using the search action if you critically fail on your search you get a re-roll in an attempt to find the snitch. In an attempt to grab the snitch, if you critically fail on your attempt to grab the snitch you get to re-roll your attempt to grab the snitch.

Percival looked towards the field a pensive look on his face. It seemed crazy that when he was a first year he had looked up to Erin Ryan as a first string beater, and now here he was. He wasn't too sure why he had cared so much back then. Having so much to prove to his uncle, and yet did any of it truly matter? Percival sighed holding his broom tightly as he realized himself for the new season. As the boy moved forward he would mount his broom quickly and take off into the air. The heavy bat in hand brought a faint smile to his face. Time to see how this season would go.

Much had happened the previous summer. Jorah's family moved from the beaches of Brighton to the Scottish Highlands. In the shadow of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Scotland, Jorah would find new friends and a new place to call home. Being so much closer to Hogwarts now, Jorah wondered if his parents would just let him fly to school this year, but that worried his mother too much. She reasoned that Jorah only had two more years left and that he wouldn't get a chance to ride the Hogwarts Express for much longer. Reluctantly he agreed and before he knew it, he was back in class and soon back on the Quidditch pitch.

Jorah flew into position ready to begin his first match of the year. The stadium rang with cheers and thunderous applause as each player flew out. @Dan Palmer made what appeared to be a smug comment, but for all the noise and the thickness of Dan’s accent, Jorah just couldn’t understand a word of what he was saying. "What?!? No, I don't drink trout lager." Jorah was pretty sure trout lager wasn’t a thing, but then again Dan was a strange boy. Jorah watched as Dan flew without any shoes, yuck!

xxEntering a new school year with an inflated ego might’ve not worked well for most people, but Maggie had never been one to follow conventions. In her time spent at Hogwarts, the ego masquerading poorly as self-confidence had never really proven a disservice (unless you counted the totally brief, absolutely not year-long falling out with June Selwyn, which she vehemently did not), and the assuredness in herself certainly had something to do with the previous year’s Slytherin winning streak. In the past year, Slytherin seemed unable to not win, claiming countless splintered broom handles and more than one nasty bludgeoned nose. They were on top of the world, and Maggie intended to soar into the fourth year undefeated. Her return to the pitch was one she’d been anticipating all year. Soaring over the well-groomed grass, Maggie felt at home, especially following her subpar summer. Not even the smell of wood polish coating the stands could hinder her now, wind whipping through her hair and hands gripping her broomstick with practiced, comfortable certainty.

The rain was pissing down but Uri couldn't care any less. He'd had to miss out his first year but now he was walking out onto the Quidditch Pitch for the first time as a player. Like his beloved Everton's Goodison Park, he viewed it as hallowed ground. He felt as if he could feel the history of the pitch. The literal centuries of players who'd come before him. He was almost overcome with a feeling of awe as he clutched his Silver Arrow in his hand. Fortunately, the rain snapped him back to reality and he started trying to focus on the training he'd done with the team to prepare for it.

He imagined he'd looked pretty silly to everyone else. There were a lot of rain cloaks, he as also wearing the timbs his father had sent him with because he didn't want to sink into the ground. He knew he should've worn a rain cloak as well but he was swept up in the moment. He remembered watching his hero, Seamus Coleman, and all the other boys in blue playing in just their kits in the pouring rain and he supposed he was emulating that.

As he got close to the team he heard Rebecca address him and he had a broad smile on his rainsoaked face as he answered her, "Hell yeah, Gaff, ready to go," he said, addressing her as the Gaffer the way the footballers he idolized named their coaches when talking to the press. He didn't even know if she knew what it meant but he hoped she at least knew he was referring to her with the utmost respect. As he reached touching distance he held his broom in his left hand and balled his right into a gloved fist, offering it to @Rebecca Lark (as well as his other teammates) for a pre-match fist-bump.
