"Just a scratch," Aaron scoffed with a small chuckle, releasing the hand on her ersatz bandage once she took over. That's what he usually said to the caretakers in his life - that being Opeila lately, but for years before that he'd had Akari, Lindsey or Aly worrying over him whenever he fell. Maybe they had rubbed off on him, because now he knew all the steps to take in this situation. "We'll have to swap injury stories some time, I'm sure we can make a game of trying to one up each other," he joked. But with their pensions for adrenaline, it would probably be a fun game.

"Your dad's a professional keeper?" Aaron asked in surprise. "That's pretty cool; you've got flying in your blood, then." Amina went on to talk about being a world famous chaser, and a grin appeared on his lips again. "You're lucky I've changed my own goals away from being the best chaser, or you'd have some serious competition." Her answering with the correct date meant he was satisfied that she was alright after all. Aaron readjusted his sitting position and relaxed a little. Even if she was alright, there was no point in getting up now until they were ready to leave. Rather than kneeling beside her, the Hufflepuff moved his butt onto the cool grass and bent his legs in front of him, resting his arms against his knees.

"Nah, you won," Aaron conceded, brushing off her idea of a draw. "I started flying before you - even had time to turn and watch as you were pulling out of your fall. Even if it wasn't perfect, you technically met the criteria of not flying first," Aaron reasoned, shrugging off his own defeat. He had to admit - he wasn't as fearless as the Durmstrang girl beside him. Maybe he could learn a thing or two from her. Though her landing could definitely do with some work. That thought made Aaron grin as he turned to look at Amina again, wondering if she would gloat about her victory.

Amina laughed and pressed the cloth even harder against her forehead. She liked the way Aaron was thinking. Very relatable. “I am sure it would be an even tougher competition than this one.” She agreed and stared into space for a moment, an absent smile on her face as she reflected on the countless times she had crashed, been hit, tackled or had fallen. As said. Countless. Her eyes focused back on the boy and another strong wave of affection came over her. He for sure had experienced something similar. He, among very few people (like Val or Slava) could probably really understand and relate with her. What a pity he was in a relationship. For Amina this was equal to being someone that got pulled away from the dangerous and exciting edge of life and wrapped up in emotional drama sooner or later. Maybe, hopefully, he wouldn’t let someone take his spark.

Oh, you didn’t know that?” The Durmstrang girl was used to people knowing her dad’s name and profession way before they knew her, as long as they had a nag for Quidditch. It was a nice change of pace for her, having to tell someone about that and for her next words, her voice got more passionate, giving away how much she loved her father. “Dude, flying is all I know. He taught me when I was a little girl. My parents always say that I flew before I walked. But with the wand… you know, I am more a bit squibbish.” She smiled again and shrugged, clearly stating where her priorities were.
She mirrored his posture and adjusted her own seating position to a more comfortable one. If he was staying seated, so would she. There was nothing better than a post-near-death-chit chat. After she clarified who won she would return to asking him more about his history and how he got to flying. But first things first.

Aaron seemed to be a true sportsman, but Amina had expected nothing less than that. Yet, so was she, although she was glad and proud to hear, she made it longer (or more so that her skill of flying wasn’t worse). “Stop being such a honorable knight.” She scoffed and shook her head, lowering the piece of clothing and testing with her fingers if the bleeding stopped. Nothing was coming out of the cut anymore. Apparently it wasn’t very deep. “I insist on a draw. Yes, I was probably pulling out later, but I failed in actually successfully doing so. I don’t want presents from you. A deal is a deal. And I make the rules.” Her tone was very conclusive and didn’t leave room for discussion. She was a very stubborn person and a fitting expression spread over her features. She was ready to fight him on it.
When she thought about the implication, the ever present smile returned to curl her lips. “That seems like the more fun outcome anyway. Then we both can pick a dare for the other.

"I'm muggleborn. I was obsessed with Quidditch my first couple years here at Hogwarts, but I could only learn so many names, you know? I kind of focused on the teams here at Hogwarts and the really famous Chasers, since that's what I wanted to be," Aaron explained a bit sheepishly, hoping he hadn't offended her by not knowing her dad. But she didn't seem upset - Amina seemed happy to share more details about her father and her upbringing. It was rather sweet the way she spoke of growing up with flying. "I really wish I'd grown up like that. I have wondered what it would've been like to grow up surrounded by magic. I wonder if I would be as good as I am now, maybe even better?" Aaron mused aloud. He had never shared that before - that he had wondered before if growing up in the magic world would've made him more talented. It had just never come up in conversation.

"I'm pretty rubbish with a wand too," Aaron shared a moment later, chuckling as he related to her comment. "I took to flying so naturally, but wandwork? I feel like I have to practice twice as hard for half the results. I'm actually surprised that diffindo worked on the first try," he complained, casting his gaze skyward again. They were so in sync, it almost felt weird. But instead, it just felt comforting. Like they were kindred spirits who had known each other for years, despite only meeting that morning.

Aaron looked back over at her as she argued about them having a draw. "Fine, fine," Aaron conceded, realizing very quickly that she would not be convinced otherwise. Apparently she had a rather commanding aura when she wanted to. "A draw, then," he agreed. "But only because you're right - it would be more fun," he broke into a smile at that line, chuckling.

He felt so at ease talking with her, that he decided to relax even further and he laid down on the grass. Laying on his back like this, he pointed one arm skyward and pointed at the Astronomy tower parapet above them. "It's so crazy we just jumped from there," he laughed, letting his arm fall to the ground beside him again. His other hand was resting on his chest.

"So you got any dare ideas in mind? Wanna give me a hint?" he asked after a few moments of comfortable quiet between them. He had turned his head so he felt the grass on one cheek, his eyes focused on hers. He was grinning playfully, truly curious what tone of dare she might have in mind. He himself would need some time to think on this. He might hold onto it for a bit, though he knew that the foreign students were leaving in a week's time.

Amina was quiet for a moment and actually thought about what the boy told her. She sensed that this was not the right time to make jokes now. After a moment of silence she slowly shook her head. “Hm, you know, I actually think it doesn’t make that much of a difference. As long as we talk about flying and not wandwork, of course. It’s more about if you grew up with sports, you know? For us, we actually really lived like muggles, which is good for me, because I barely have an ounce of magic in me. Besides flying, of course. My mum is muggleborn, too, and it was very important to her that we understood that kind of life as well.” Her pale green eyes wandered from the sky to Aaron, a thoughtful wrinkle on her forehead. A rare sight.
Two of my brothers actually ended up being super successful ice hockey players and they were not brought up with that. I think, if you have the athletics and coordination from your childhood, it’s more about what you are born to do. And for you that’s obviously flying. You are born to fly.” She was absolutely serious. He had displayed a greater talent than most of her brothers or other people she had seen on a broom. Coming from a Petrovic, this was quite a compliment.
Amina chewed a moment on her lower lip, then tilted her head layed her ringer on her nose as she sometimes did when she was deeply in thought. “Maybe, not being born into a Quidditch home made you more flexible? Who knows, if I wasn’t brought up like this, I might have changed to stunts too and offer you some serious competition over there As you might be for me as a Chaser. I’m pretty sure you could be way up there.
The smile on her face was warm and gentle and lost all of its teasing mockery. This was a serious topic and she felt relieved now that she addressed something that had been buried in her so deeply. She probably never would address this thought ever again. But Aaron’s openness and their bond made her look at herself in a more reflective manner. It was somewhat easier to access that side of her own personality.
Hey, does this mean you also practiced a sport when you were growing up? how did you end up getting into Quidditch anyway?

She sighed and chuckled with him about their poor talent with the wand. She unfodled the cloth and looked at the cut. “Not only did it work the first time, but it also is a pretty clean cut, too. Look at you go, maybe you’ll become a star duellist in your later days.” She brushed a strand of her hair behind her ear and looked up to the castle windows that were glowing in the dark. “You know, my parents actually were afraid that I don’t have enough magic in me to be a witch. But here I am. A true magician with the broom.

As he agreed quickly with her suggestion of this to be a draw she gave up her fighting demeanor and flopped into the grass next to him. She loved the feeling of the cold ground under her and the grass tickling her neck and cheeks. “Of course I am right. Only wait until you hear what I have in store for you.” She smiled, almost smirked, too, and her gaze followed his arm when he pointed up to the tower, their launching pad.
Crazy and amazing.” She agreed, turned her head and looked at his features that were concealed in the dark. “I have to say, you’re pretty damn cool. There a not a lot of people who would have done that.

For a moment, they were just quiet. Amina enjoyed the silence between them, just lying there beside him and enjoying the feeling and knowledge that they had done something amazing together. Stretched out in the grass and the arms crossed behind her head she just listened to the sound of her own heart.
Then Aaron brought her back with a follow up to her ‘promise’ from before. With a chuckle she rolled over on her belly and rested her checks on her hands. “Well, I don’t know. Do you like to amaze random audiences with partner acrobatics?

"Yeah, maybe," Aaron mused on the idea that it depended more on growing up with sports rather than growing up with magic. It was interesting to learn that Amina had lived a muggle-like life when her father was a famous Quidditch player. But that opened up a lot of things they would be able to relate on, as far as pop culture and childhood experiences went.

His eyes turned from the stars back to Amina when she spoke of her brothers becoming ice hockey players. Ice hockey? Aaron had never taken much interest in hockey or lacrosse or any sports like that, but it was fascinating that two people born into the magical world would choose a job in the muggle sector of things. Why? And she had brothers? More than two? His thoughts were immediately distracted when the redhead said he was born to fly, and he couldn't help a grin appearing on his face, "Thanks." It was nice to get acknowledgement of a skill he had spent years pouring blood, sweat and tears into.

He actively listened to what she had to say about there being positives to not being born into it, and he could only shrug. She seemed to genuinely believe this, but there was that ever nagging feeling in the back of his mind. Wondering what an alternate universe version of himself - a halfblood maybe - would be like with flying. But the genuine smile on Amina's face made him nod along and concede, "You may be right." Which was true.

"I was enrolled in Taekwondo for years before I came to Hogwarts. I even joined a Martial Arts club here during my first year, but I didn't keep up with it once I realized flying was where I was meant to be," he told her, when she asked about sports. "I still practice it from time-to-time, on my own, but not as much as I used to. Did you play any sports? Other than flying, I mean."

Aaron offered a playful eyeroll when she said that of course she was right about calling it a draw. A chuckle escaped his lips as she went on to say he was pretty cool, "Thanks, Amina."

When she rolled over and spoke of possible partner acrobatics as her dare, Aaron's eyebrows quirked up. "I feel great about them! But only if said partner can pull their weight, it is a partnership after all," he teased, suggesting that if the stunt didn't go well, it would be her fault. A joke, of course.

"I'm gonna have to think about my own dare for you," he said, a mischievous grin still on his lips. "We should get outta here though - the ball's tomorrow, and missing it because I get thrown into detention is not on my agenda," he chuckled, finally sitting up again. In a smooth motion, he was back on his feet and offering Amina a hand to do the same. Once they were both standing, Aaron said to her, "You know, you're pretty damn cool too, right? This was a lot of fun. I hope we can hangout more during your visit, and not just for the dares." The mention of the dares elicited another chuckle from him.

Amina rambled on and on about her childhood and family, but she didn’t feel awkward or like she was talking too much. Aaron looked at her, attentively listening and making her feel like all of her words had meaning. This was a new feeling for her. Not that she had ever doubted that people enjoyed listening to her, but this was a new kind of vibe that she was getting from this Hogwarts boy. Maybe he was understanding not only her words but something about her too.
Maybe because they had jumped off a tower together. This was barely an event that went past you without giving you some bonding material.

Now it was her turn to listen and she looked at his eyes, sparkling in the dark as he talked about his first sport and his transition to flying, although she was really excited about Taekwondo. She bit the word back until she thought he was finished, then they exploded out of her. “That’s so cool though! It comes in handy for sure. I always wanted to learn but there was just not enough time to do both, quidditch and… well, pretty much anything else. Maybe you can show me some stuff one day.” She chuckled and crossed her arms behind her head.

The serious mood was gone quickly when the bet and dare became the topic. A scoff escaped her throat when he felt it to be necessary pointing out that acrobatics was a partnership effort. “Pff, thanks, coach. I am sure I can hold my own weight, I more worry about those shaky arms of yours.” Teasingly she poked him in his impressive biceps, playing into his suggestion that she could be the one who messes it up.

With a matching grin, she let him pull her to her feet when it was time to go. “I can’t await your task, my lord. And Merlin forbid detention would deprive your girlfriend and the rest of us of your stunning appearance tomorrow. We can’t let that happen.” She shook her head and mounted and her grin deepend. With another teasing poke in his arm and a smirk she tilted her head. “I know I’m pretty cool. As are you, Hogwarts. So it’s a good thing we met. And it was the best time ever! We definitely should hang out more - you won’t get rid of me easily now.” The smile she gave him as she mounted her silver arrow was warm, open and honest, reflecting the feeling he evoked in her. “That’s a threat. Or a promise. You pick. Sleep well!” And with that she shot away into the sky.
